It's been an immensely fulfilling day. I finally proposed (officially) to Olori with her dream ring (I hope). Even though I knew (95% sure) that she would say yes, I was still a nervous wreck anyway. It was the last thing she was expecting, so it was a truly big surprise for her. Afterwards, the smile on her face was priceless and it told me that I had made the right choice. Wishing everyone joy and happiness....now I need to get some sleep. I'm exhausted. ![]()

@salsera. My sister, happy new year to you also. Don't worry. On that day, we'll just choose rainbow color aso-ebi. That should satisfy everyone, abi? ![]() |

But i am nt givin up. I tryin to build my faith and do those things analytical advised winniegirl to do. So help me GOD. I hope to share my testimonies soon by God‘s grace. That's the spirit, and your joy shall be full in Jesus' name. Just imagine coming back to tell your story and testimonies. Psalm 126:1 says ” When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.” There is nothing like the joy of your captivity being turned around. You feel reborn and rejuvenated. Hang in there, your miracle is at hand. |
biolabee: zowee...... I read the 24 pages like phew....Thank you for the encouragement and vote of confidence. You make it sound like I'm a star or something. If not for God's grace, where would I be. This story would have been completely different. If this story is a source of inspiration for anyone, then let God take all the glory for it, for He alone gave me the grace to weather the storm. |
chaircover: LOL when my sister was about to get married. I was asking him how the preparations were going. He jokingly said to me, that all he is asking for is that we tell him the venue and the time and he and his bestman will be thereLol. That's a guy who him and I think alike. |

Analytical: Serubawon you can say that again! I should knowI hear you my brother. ![]() |
My sympathies on the loss of your brother. There's no explaining why things like this happen. They just happen. You can't blame God, He's the creator. Without Him, you can't exist. However, the long and short of it all is that life continues, even after terrible things occur in our lives. I lost my late wife to sickness 8 years ago. It was like the whole world stopped and ended on that day. I have 2 kids and I had to raise them on my own. For 8 years, I've been un-married and never thought I could ever meet anyone who could make me feel the way I felt then. However, God is loving and kind and after such a long time, I met someone who makes me feel happy again. You can read my story on the following thread: https://www.nairaland.com/20511/adjusting-life-widower. I hope you can find solace and encouragement in my journey. I can tell you for a fact though, one day....you will smile again. Remain blessed. |

Analytical: What on earth could be the matter Tgirl4real? Looks like Seru's story brought fresh tears to your eyes.No mind Tgirl jare. She's as tough as a rhinoceros (and trust me, that's tough). ![]() |
I'm at the airport about to board a flight and I checked into the thread and saw the latest additions. @Winneygirl. I started this thread at 7:16pm on 12th August 2006. I remember that on that day, I was so depressed that I actually started typing and I'm not the type to get on threads and contribute to anything. It's going on 6 years and miraculously, the thread is still alive and strong. Not because I'm a prolific writer or anything of the sort, but because God saw that there would be people on this thread that would form a support system that would encourage and guide me to this point and even beyond. I had no inkling on the impact it would have on me as an individual (not to talk of other people). From this thread, I've made a lot of friends that have actually become personal friends for me today. I can't count the number of people that have contributed at one time or the other, but we have a wonderful team on this thread and they truly care. However, it all starts with telling your story. You said it would take 5 pages....go ahead and write your 5 pages. I'm sure we're all eagerly waiting to read it. I pray that God gives you the peace that I received. The peace that steered me towards a wonderful woman that I am getting married to. Tell your story....and may the Lord grant you favor and blessings. |
@Winneygirl. Still expecting your reply..... |
@Analytical Baba. Abeg preach on jare. I am saying a BIG AMEN!!!!! Olori is fine and keeping me on my toes. Things are progressing smoothly and to God be all the glory. Happy new year and I'm sure your family is well. 2013 is the year. It's going to be a wonderful one for all of us IJN. @Efemena & Emerald....thank you for the kind words of encouragement and wishing you a prosperous new year also. Yes o, God has put a smile back on my face and I'm actually happy. ![]() |
@Winneygirl. I think you might need to tell us what your going through 1st. That's what the thread is all about in the 1st place. So, you're not derailing the thread in anyway. If you feel like sharing, please do. Trust me, it helps. |
Winneygirl: I jst read d whole 6yrs of dis thread. Whn I saw Ur 'happy new year' on 01/Jan/2012, I tot 2myself, "1 year 2 go".Complicated question, but here goes. How do I remain in a state of being 'hopeful'? God's grace encompasses everything. Without God, I'm sure I would have either gone stark raving mad or done something so stupidly ridiculous that this story might have turned out completely opposite in nature. This is the 1st time in 8 years that I did not post anything about my late wife on my facebook page. That was the sign (to me), that I am ready to move on. Moving on is a crucial step and if you're not ready or sure, it can be a costly one. I know for a fact that I am moving on with the right person and waiting for 8 years has not been in vain. Other men (and women) have moved on in a fraction of the time it took me, but every individual is different. My hope comes from God's strength, wisdom and patience. You take 1 day at a time and learn from every mistake along the way. I almost made a mistake of marrying the wrong person last year, but I learned a big lesson from that experience. The lesson? Never compromise. It might take a while, but only choose that 1 person that would be your soulmate and you would compliment each other. Olori is the 1st woman that I have never compared to my late wife (not even once). I would never have thought that I would be with someone that is a complete contrast to what I thought was the standard for me to make a choice. However, here I am; preparing to get married and not having a single fiber of fear in my body. That is part of my state of being hopeful. I don't know your story, but I believe that if you trust in God and allow Him to guide you, you can't fail. You'll definitely make mistakes along the way and no one said it would be an easy ride. However, no matter how bumpy the ride is, the important thing is for you to safely arrive at the right destination. I really wish you the best and if it worked out for me (after 8 years), it'll work out for you too. Have a wonderful year ahead. ![]() |

So far, so good. Good job Tgirl. Merry Christmas everyone!!! ![]() |
I don't think any job is worth my partner being embarrassed or molested by my boss. If I don't stand up for her, who will and how will she ever respect me in the future. I might lose my job, but he'll be incapacitated for life. ![]() |
segun688: hi serubawon, i stumbled across this thread, it is incredible and very inspiring. Your journey has been an inspiration. To God be the glory my brother. Difficult trials always lead to great testimonies. This is my great testimony slowly unfolding. ![]() |
spoilt: serubawonNa wa o. I haven't even brought the tree out yet. Not looking forward to putting it up, but my kids will kill me if I don't. |
@Yoged. Only God understands why things like this happen, but as the bible says, His thoughts towards us are of good and not evil. In time, the pain heals. It never goes away completely, but it heals. The good thing is, no matter how difficult and painful it is, we have the assurance that God never fails and He feels our pain. Only He knows how to give succor and peace. Stay strong and thank you for the kind words. |
spoilt: She is probably camping in the hospital with the little one.I pray so. Just concerned that we haven't heard from her. Unfortunately, I'm working on Christmas. Deadlines to meet. What about you and yours? |
