pickabeau1: @Tinkybabe my badThank you my sister. Yes, I don show face. Not married yet. Introduction was done last weekend. We should be tying the knot in January, God willing. I'm blessed. |
mysticgal: now my familly people, una goodafrun please i need some advice,No woman deserves to be treated that way. I see men like that and I feel like physically beating them up. I wouldn't tolerate someone treating my mom, sister or daughter that way. Personally, I believe that men like that are just bullies and need a like minded woman who will make his life a living hell. I know it's hard for a woman to leave her matrimonial home, but if it's for her own safety, then she should leave. I wish there was an easy fix to it, but there isn't. If she has brothers that are truly men, they need to stand up to her husband or he's going to hurt her badly some day. |
Dem dey collect gate fee again? O ga o. Salsera, na fight? |

I can't believe I'm just discovering this way into page 114 (I really need to get a life). I guess it's too late to introduce myself. That's like walking into a party in full swing at 4 am in the morning. Maybe I'll just try my best to get into the mood and start break dancing or something ![]()

Thanks everyone. ![]() |

Giving God the glory. Introduction of families was this morning in naija and it went very well. I didn't sleep a wink all night and you would think I was going to the embassy for a visa. Praying for God's protection and journey mercies for all those returning to Lagos. So, the first hurdle has been crossed and with God on our side, the rest as they say, is history. |
4BBS: @serubawon 'Never late always on time' your thread has really got me thinking since yesterday. As a young widow with kids i thought i have been hoping for the impossible, but with ur thread, i am strongly convinced that with prayer and patience, all will be well.I'm sorry about your loss. Maybe one of these days, the Lord will give you the strength and grace to tell us your story. I know it's painful, but I've also learnt that by sharing, the pain becomes (not any less), but more bearable. I've been in your shoes where I sincerely believed that there was no hope. However, I'm a living testimony that with God, nothing shall be impossible. May God give you all you need to be a pillar of strength for your children. His mercies that endureth forever shall never depart from your household. It is well my sister. |
jumzzy448: HBD sir. Wishing you long life and prosperity.Thank you very much. |

Thanks everyone ! |
Thanks nemesis. I didn't even know my birthday was known. So much for secrets. |
theLORDreigns:Thank you for all the compliments. I sincerely appreciate them. I'm glad you enjoyed the thread and I'm happy you found out that it's not a thread filled with unhappy widowers and widows or sad individuals with personal losses. It's supposed to be a thread of encouragement and it does have it's humorous moments also. Thanks for the compliments on my contribution on the other thread too. ![]() |
salsera: @seruSit down for a moment, think about what you're going through right now. Now do something that I do. Tell God this: "I don't like this situation and I'm getting burned out. However, I'm really looking forward to how you're going to turn this situation around and glorify your name". Why? Because that's His job. Glorifying His name in our lives. Just like joy4mi, I'm really looking forward to your testimony. Remain blessed. P.S. Don't worry, gele time is around the corner ![]() |
@Handsomegod. You sound like you used to be immensely accident prone. However, with God, nothing shall be impossible. His purpose for your life is set in stone and the powers of darkness shall not prevail. Great testimonies only emanate from very painful travails and experiences. A lot of people want to give great testimonies, but don't understand that a price is attached to it. The price might be (and mostly is) painful. However, God is so merciful, He ensures that your delivery from pain is so wonderful, that you can't but give Him the glory and honor. He has the capacity to forever wipe away the tears of sorrow and pain, no matter the circumstances. We hear about the story of Job and the calamities that befell him. I'm sure none of us want to go through that. Look at the way God blessed Him in the end. The point I'm trying to make here is that the ultimate goal in our lives is for God's name to be glorified. That's why when we are in pain or sorrow, hand it over to God and ask Him for guidance, wisdom and patience. I didn't say it would be easy, but it is ultimately worth it. My life shows how you can actually recover from a life changing experience and be happy again. My next story comes up shortly. ![]() |
@Joy4mi Wow! I'm so happy hearing this, I feel like break dancing. Truly inspiring and encouraging. It shows that the God we serve is always on point and never late. If there is a delay, it's always on our part and God has to patiently wait for us to sync with Him and His promises towards us. I sincerely pray that your breakthrough is permanent and as Salsera has pointed out, you will not just be blessed, but an immense blessing to others. |
salsera: @seruHey, I know exactly what you mean. I've gone through some experiences in life that would just make your toes curl and clench. They are experiences that I would never want to even dream of, talk less of actually experiencing them. However, in the end, these experiences only made me stronger and presently, I am the pillar of strength for those around me. I would prefer not to have that kind of responsibility on me, but such is my path in life and I accept it. Whatever you're going through now, ask God for wisdom and patience to help you figure out why you're going through these situations and what he wants you to learn from them. Trust me, you'll thank Him for these situations some time in the not too distant future. Stay strong my sister. ![]() |
salsera: Wow...And what situation are you speaking of pray tell? |
Analytical: Serubawon, it's been a while! I join you and others in thanking God for this journey. This has truly become inspiring and a source of encouragement for many. This is not just a thread, it's a memoir- a journey spanning several years and it's not ending soon, I tell you. Why are you not considering the book offer? I recall saying you have a ready material right here on this thread. All you need is fine-tuning. Please dust your notes and get to work on it.Hmmmm....... Analytical Baba! Yes, it has been a while. How are you and yours? I pray all is well on the home and business front. 2 book deals? Well, that would be nice. I'm not in a hurry to get into anything and I am thinking about it. I guess I'll let God take care of that decision for me. He's never failed me before and I'm pretty sure he's not about to start now. Wow, I would like to thank everyone for their comments (Handsomegod, jumzzy448, shooze, bellong, get it done etc). Trying to make sure my head isn't swelling right now. @Handsomegod. I'm sure everyone would like to hear your story and I'm also sure no one will be bored. This thread is not just about serubawon and his story. It's to help people bring out their stories of overcoming various situations in the face of hardship and thus encouraging a lost soul somewhere that there is hope at hand. Please feel free to narrate your experiences. ![]() |
Winneygirl: Talking about closure of this thread makes me sad.Why should you be sad? The way I look at it is a thread that has spanned over 7 years and has been a source of solace for me ( and others). The saying goes " not by power, nor by might, but by my spirit sayeth the Lord". And that's why I can't take credit for this thread. I started it in the hope of getting answers and I got a whole lot more and I'm grateful. That being said, I believe a lot of us are still waiting to hear your story Winneygirl, abi?

chaircover: Congratulations Serubawon . . . . .My sister, thank you. You've said it all. All we have to say is thank you Lord. For His kindness, mercies which endureth forever, wisdom, protection, favor etc. |
Hey everyone. I didn't abandon my people o. Just taking things one day at a time. The introduction day has been set (next month). It's going to be done in-absentia (obviously) in naija and after then, we'll tie the knot quietly. All the engagement stress will come at a later date. Right now, we have bigger things ahead of us ( like buying a house). Na now I know say na woman dey buy house, man just be the follow follow wey go pay for am. ![]() It's been extremely eventful and I'll tell the stories after the fact. I must be honest sha, this Olori keeps me on my bloody toes ( no be lie). However, I love the woman and people say I have become "ode" for her o. So be it. I'm happy again. The kids are happy. She's happy. That's all that counts and I consider myself to be extremely blessed to experience this feeling the second time around. Once again, I'm grateful to everyone for helping this story to be what it is Today. I'm grateful to God for giving me a second chance at happiness. I truly look forward to when I'll be able to announce our marriage and possibly the official closure of this thread. It hasn't been a wild ride, it's been a fantastic ride that I honestly wouldn't change for anything. I received a book offer on this story last month and I must say that caught me off guard. For now, I'm not considering anything, I just want to get on with the rest of my life and be happy. Thanks everyone ![]() |
