All people with PHDs are not the same. Some have PHDs in courses relevant to the job (e.g. Law or Economics) while others have it in courses that are not relevant to the job (e.g. Fisheries). The school where it was earned also matters. All people with WASC are not the same, either. Some of them may have developed themselves by reading lots of books and are more knowledgeable than many graduates. Most of them have not. What we need is for the two candidates to debate each other so we can figure out which of them has more knowledge relevant to the job.

These tasks are part of the normal job of a moderator. If a post is not in compliance with the rules of Nairaland, just report it to the mods.

I beg to disagree! The certificate issue bothers seriously on the integrity of the candidate! It has to be dealt with in the most transparent way possible. As it stands, there still matters arising. The one concerned should quickly, and transparently deal with any and all inconsistencies observed. Only then can it be put to rest!

Politicians are known for lying so I don't care about little lies here and there that have no material impact on the way the country is governed. If Buhari doesn't have a certificate, who cares? The man's literacy, knowledge and intelligence have nothing to do with that ancient piece of paper.

Earlier today an argument ensued between my woman and myself about how workaholic I have become in recent times. She later joked about me being serious with my job cos am working cos of her. I told her NO! And to her greatest surprised I let her know am working for the sakes of my children unborn not necessarily her. It's also a wake up call for your wife. She needs to work hard to make her own money since her husband isn't working for her but his children. She shouldn't sacrifice or limit her career for such a man. Also, please bro learn not to say every stupid thing that passes through your mind!

The certificates issue is absolutely irrelevant. We should focus on their visions for improving Nigeria and their leadership skills and integrity.

If I caught this kind of fish, I would fry it and eat it every day morning, afternoon, and night, until it's finished. Fried fish and iced water.
I would also grind the bones, intestines, skin, eggs, and other yucky parts that I can't eat, and mix them with rice or couscous for my dog.

I happened to have seen the certificate on Facebook on someone's wall so I simply posted it. Buhari's certificate is already available.

What he scored in WAEC before GEJ was born doesn't matter. What matters is what he has in his head right now versus his opponent.

here's the doctoral certificate; found it on Facebook. I can't find the thesis, though. The original title of this thread said certificate/thesis.

There's no evidence of "begging" in the article. He asked for support. I hate it when titles are obviously biased.

For this reason, I went through General Buhari's recent interview with Thisday, and extracted the concrete statements he made about his plans to secure Nigeria and fight terrorism as the president of Nigeria.

Here they are, in his own words:

1. "What would I do differently? It is to make the military much more effective in their operations. If we get the opportunity, we will make the military capable again ... That is what we would do differently, to make Nigerian military capable again."

2. "Having known how the Boko Haram developed, what I would have personally done differently would be to get the Presidents of Cameroun, Chad and Niger together to say, ‘look our borders are porous and that we are not able to effectively protect them and monitor movements of people in and out of our territory, but please make sure that you do not provide training facilities or allow people to be coming into the county.’ "(technically, this is a statement about the past, but I'll allow it since he can do it when he gets into power)

3. "I think what I can do is appeal to the patriotic sense of the military."

4. "I think the situation needs a leadership that will give the military the backing in terms of sourcing the weapons and ammunition to fight. And Nigeria, no matter how oil prices have fallen, will source enough funds to fight the insurgents."

8. "First of all it is important to debunk the notion being peddled by Boko Haram that Western education is ungodly. They go into schools and slaughter children both Christian and Muslim children. They go to mosques and explode devices, they also go to the churches and motor parks. So really, it is very easy to disabuse the minds of Nigerians on the wrong notion that Boko Haram is a religious enterprise. They are just simply terrorists. Having reduced them to that, then you can earn the support of the immediate communities for you to flush the insurgents out of the society. I believe that this will not take a long time."

9. "Then you discuss with your neighbours to make sure that weapons are not crossing the borders and that there are [no] training facilities for terrorists."

10. "I think that soldiers and police barracks and their armories must be strengthened to ensure that they are properly secured."

11. "I think that the air force has to be made more effective by acquiring more new aircraft and establishing a base in Kano so that the distance to cover is shorter and returning to base is made easier."

12. "You know there were problems with the Boko Haram leadership, there were some people that claimed to be leaders of Boko Haram and the sect disowned them. So we have to identify the real leaders of Boko Haram before you can negotiate with them."

13. "I am insisting on intelligence, which means gathering information and making sure that it is correct and you deal with it. Without intelligence you waste too much resources and lives."
