PoliticsRe: Buhari 'Not Sorry' For 1983 Coup: Does Corruption Justify Military Action? by Seun(mod): 7:49pm On Jan 20, 2015
babadee1:
Buhari was not involved in the planning or execution of the 1983 coup. He was invited to be head of state by other officers after the coup had been carried out.
General Buhari has not denied his share of responsibility for the coup. He was aware of the coup before it happened and he supported it.

PassingShot:
Seun, if one was not around or old enough to understand the level of corruption at that time, a simple research will provide the justification for the coup. The Shagari regime was so so reckless that if it was not overthrown it could have collapsed Nigeria.
How would it have collapsed Nigeria, exactly?
What did they do wrong that has not been done by subsequent military and civilian governments? (and Nigeria is still standing)

Many, who jubilated when Buhari took over, are still alive. At that time, only the corrupt politicians and their acolytes shedded tears for the coup.
You folks keep mentioning this jubilation. Does it justify the termination of democracy? Didn't people also jubilate when Buhari was overthrown?

Yes Seun, my husband apologized, infact he bought alot of things to beg me, send flowers and organise a small love party for me where he went on his knee to beg me to forgive him in the presence of his friends, i feel very proud and happy to have such a wonderful man
Ok that's great. It means he knows that what he did was wrong and will (probably) not do it again. Happy married life, sincerely this time!

Did seun just referred to my husband aas rape?. I need an apology from you seun. My husband is the best man in the world
Apologies. Talking about apologies, has your wonderful husband apologized for assaulting you repeatedly as a punishment?
FamilyRe: How Virginity Almost Destroyed My Marriage - Thanks To Nlanders by Seun(mod): 5:02pm On Jan 20, 2015
Her husband forced her to have sex with him against her will, as a punishment, whenever they quarrelled, repeatedly. Many people are in jail for doing what he did just once, to someone they didn't swear to love and to protect. People who do such things can do many other bad things.
PoliticsRe: Why Hasn't The Price Of Diesel Fallen? by Seun(mod): 4:19pm On Jan 20, 2015
Good question. I think the drastic fall in the value of the naira is a factor. Let's allow unbiased industry insiders to answer the question. Besides, in some places the rice of diesel has fallen to 137/l.

No democracy in the world isn't constantly abused. No democracy is free of corruption. All mature democracies have faced these problems.

Totally agree with GMB; as a General you don't deal on regrets, you make mistakes' you accept' learn from it and move on!
He has not accepted that he made a mistake. If you don't admit your mistakes and correct them, you will keep making them.

Today he is a democrat, contested presidential elections 3 times and went to court for justice on those 3 elections..
A cynical person would say that the reason he is doing all this is because he no longer has the military capability to take power by force.

Look, I have decided that it may not be bad to have change, but we need to understand the new man before giving him dominion over us.

Why are you bringing this irrelevant issue up at this time.
Apologies, I'm trying to embrace the idea of GMB as president, but I just felt really bothered by the statements above,

The coup happened over 30 years ago
The interview happened very recently.

and I remember vividly there were wild jubiliation all over the country after the coup
Every president has enemies - for example, the millions who voted against him. If the president is overthrown, those people will jubilate.
PoliticsBuhari 'Not Sorry' For 1983 Coup: Does Corruption Justify Military Action? by Seun(mod):
From his recent Channels TV Interview:

Are you sorry for bringing to an end the Shagari government?

GMB: No, I'm not sorry, because I mentioned why we did it, and we proved our case.

That's a democratic process that could have extended.

GMB: So when you are a democracy you are entitled to steal the treasury dry, and put your people into pauperized positions, and destroy institutions, and destroy infrastructure?

So you blame Shagari for that coup?

GMB: Don't personalize. I'll blame the second republic...

For that?

GMB: For that. And when we came out we told the nation why and we conducted enquiries, documentary ones, not just hearsay.

So he still believes it is ok for the military to overthrow a democratic government if the democratic government is corrupt. Incidentally, many people believe that the current government is also corrupt. If the General's view is right, then a military coup in 2015 is justified...

Do you agree? undecided (I strongly disagree because dictatorship is a greater evil than corruption. You can fight corruption within democracy)

I think you would have done a better job defending your original post by simply pointing out that you used the word 'probably' to qualify your assertion, instead of coming with this one of having 'felt very sure that it was a lie'.
Thank you, but I don't think how well I defend myself is important. What's important is whether or not this story is true. Any ideas about that?

Would it not be polite to request for the evidence, than to outrightly pronounce it a lie; even without counter proof from you.
That's is very rude of you!
Oh, I think this is just a big misunderstanding? I didn't say it's a lie, I said it's probably a lie. That's just an educated guess.

You should then have rather ask for such video/picture instead of rushing head-on to term it a lie....that should have been the last resort.
I felt very sure that it was a lie, due to the way the OP presented the story and his use of words. If I'm proved wrong, I will surely apologize.

Why are you so eager to dispute it when you have not seen the rally? undecided
I'm aware of the modus operandi of PDP and APC e-trolls on the forum. Based on this, I predicted that the claim was a lie. If it happened, one of you would have recorded the video and posted it here for all to see instead of saying "I swear it's true". I am just an e-troll skeptic.

It's not a Nigerian thing; that's how voters all over the world choose who to vote for. People make most decisions based on their feelings.

mutter:
A good idea however the problem is it could lead to insult.

Woman - you are not even a man I am the one that married you.

Man- you were so desperate you even paid me to marry you.
If that happens then there is a problem of immaturity with both of them already, because they should know that bride price is not actually being paid to buy the bride. That it's just a way for the wife's extended family to extract money from the unfortunate bridegroom's family.

Tactfully let him know that you think the demands are outrageous and you're interested in helping but only if he wants you to help. If he requests your help, help, and make sure that you never ever mention it during any future quarrel with him. This is extremely important.
