Hi all, has anyone flown virgin atlantic round trip from US to Lagos with expired GC and extension letter?

I have never flown virgin atlantic before, but I don't think you should have any issue, provided you have the "expired GC" and the extension letter with you . The only issue you might have is , you might be delayed a little bit, because they might want to verify the authenticity of the extension letter.

I hope this helps?

Hi, Welcome to DFW !!! I live within the metroplex as well. For jobs, are you seeking for jobs specific to your field? Or any other field..

I would advise you constantly check the career portals of major engineering coys like texas instruments, salesforce etc. We have quite a few within the metroplex.

You may also register with major recruitment agencies like roberthalf, davron.net and nesc.com ( you can also use google to your advantage)

This land will favor you. Once again, welcome !

Well said 👍🏾

Hello. I'm new resident in Texas. In Dallas area. Just hit on this thread today. I'm on page 7 out of 26.

My main challenge is job. I have engineering background (MSc) . Can I DM you please?

Would appreciate help and connections from others in DFW area.

Hi, and welcome to Texas. If you have the required documents that can let you work legally in the United States like ur EAD or PR, you can start applying for professional jobs in your field. Go to Google, linkedln, indeed to search. Also, I will suggest you evaluate your result., and maybe take one or two professional exams to give you an edge. You can get cheap classes on udemy especially during their sales, that can prepare you for the exam.

But if you do not have the required documents to work, that's another route entirely.

I'd be visiting Vegas this December for few days, any tips in getting a budget friendly accommodation of any type?

The stratosphere is one of the cheapest hotel in Vegas, though it's like 10mins away from major happening places like Freemont street and Bellagio fountain.

Like work authorization or PR. They don't employ illegal immigrants in the health sector.

Etisalat does not work in the United States, you can only continue to use the what's app, but can't roam the line.
Taal17:

They do - as long as its roaming with whichever roaming partner they use. I usually load at least 4000 naira, I keep it active by sending a few texts and I have received calls. Sometimes network bars may drop but typically its fine.
For context this is for Airtel .

I think Delta airline is your best bet. They have direct flight from Lagos to Atlanta, and then they connect you to wherever you going to In the United States.

Ppl do under the table job like working in a warehouse or working at an African store till they can gather theirselevs. Note that, these places under pay because they know you don't have the right documents.
ibinaboonline:
Um, I'm aware school route is the surest route to the states. It's also the most expensive route, I think. If someone did make it via the tourist route, what is your advice for such a newcomer considering he/she can't legally work (I suppose) and all that?

I didn't get mine before leaving Nigeria, and I'm planning to go to Atlanta to renew my passport. The last time I renewed my passport almost 5yrs ago at Atlanta, NIN was not a requirement then.
Schrodinger2:

Yes they require and I got mine from Nigeria.
You can always pay for it at the embassy in DC.

Any response?
Travel / Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Seunblack7070: 3:44am On Mar 15, 2023
Did they request for NIN to renew your passport, if yes, do you have one before or you were able to apply for one at the embassy?
Schrodinger2:
Hey guys, I would be arriving Washington DC this evening for my passport renewal tomorrow but I'm looking for accommodation to stay this night. Can anyone help me with this?
Travel / Re: Traveling UK Or US To Secure A Job Withing 2weeks by Seunblack7070: 11:52am On Mar 01, 2023
It doesn't work that way. The first thing any employer would ask you is if you are authorized to work, and you can't do that on a visit visa.
Mboi:
I want use visitor's visa to travel to UK or US for 2 weeks and look for a software testing job with work permit.
Most of the online job applications through glassdoor and LinkedIn are always being rejected, so I want to go there for two weeks and see if I can secure one, then come back and apply for normal work permit visa.

I need advice, suggestions on this.
