How much is access to the second option? Do you charge per game on the account or a subscription to the games or a bulk one time fee?

I just noticed that my Starlink $42.16 credit that was given to me due to the negative experience i had with my first order has been taken, and used to offset my due for this month. Unlike those who actually have to pay from their card, i never received a week's notification for my due.

@seunpayne, Can you also confirm that this is your experience?
Well I never reached out to support concerning my shipping delay so I didn’t get the free month. I have received the invoice to be billed from next week. Which is fine as my experience (even when it rained) has been largely positive.

Chineke!
Must have finished now.

Omo, I need a solution to extend starlink all the house. It's a very big house horizontally speaking. Like 90-100 meters. Plus plenty rooms and walls. Chai.

If you know wifi well do you know any wireless solution (I don't want to wire house) I can use to get it work all that huge space with walls.
If possible extend further to another building 20m from it too.

Or if you know am expert too u can link to me
I think they may still have two or three left. I will find out.

So I have been building WLAN installations for the last 7 years and I think, if performance is important, a wireless uplink solution is a huge disadvantage.

By uplink I mean, imagine your internet connection comes from starlink, that’s your WAN (wide area network). Distributed inside your house is your LAN (Local area network). Now you can handle distribution wirelessly by deploying a WLAN network (wireless LAN).

I’m gonna be a bit technical so please bear with me.

Your starlink and any dualband router made in the last three years would most likely come with gigabit ports which support network speeds of up to 1000Gbps. So within that network you can do a lot of things apart from using the internet without affecting your internet speed. A typical example is when you do a speed test on starlink, one test measures the speed between the router and the internet . The other measures the speed between your device and the router. Finally you can also test between your device and the internet. Theoretically you would find that your results for the third test is most likely to be affected by the result of the second. The reason is because you can’t access the internet faster than your device’s connection to your uplink (router). And that’s why you want a very good uplink device.

Now what about distributing to the rest of the house? Well, if your run a cable from your uplink to another access point/router then you take advantage of the gigabit speeds. So if you test your speed from that device you will get the best speeds because your local connection is way faster than your internet speed.

Consider however, if you were using a 300mbs router for example, and your speed is throttling down to that speed despite the fact that your uplink is 1000gbps.

A better wifi 6 router/access point connected via cable could give you up to 6gbps wirelessly which is why everyone is asking you to get something better.

One last scenario, if your connection to your uplink is wireless however, (wireless extender or wireless mesh) your speeds drop really fast because wifi isn’t as fast a physical connection. In which case, unless you are using really top access points or mesh setups, you’ll basically be experiencing crappy bandwidth on your local network.

My fingers hurt. Shey you sha get the jist?

Tx a lot.. It's just the the ground floor (Living room I want to av quality network). This is what I am currently pulling downstairs in the living room with the Starlink Router placed upstairs in my bedroom

Do you think I really need this other router/Starlink Ethernet Adapter or I should just continue enjoying my Starlink as it is

Upstairs in the bedroom... Speed is up to 200Mbps

Downstairs in the living room... 30/40Mbps
So a great wifi connection is important for more than just internet speed. Your wifi is responsible for a lot more than that. I have smart lights, smart speakers, Network assisted storage for streaming movies and document storage and sharing all hooked up at home. That 300mbps bandwidth will disappear very quickly once you’re streaming a 1080p movie wirelessly from your computer to your TV for example.

So I think it is a very decent investment. Do you need it NOW? Maybe not. Will you need it in the future? Most likely.

If i get a good dual band router, will I be fine?

I don't understand how mesh works.. How can it serve me in this case?

Can u recommend a good dual band router?

Cos i cancelled my order for Starlink Ethernet Adapter first time. Now I av re-ordered same and I don't want to cancel again
Don’t want to get into an argument with anybody. If it’s just ground floor you want to cover while having the Starlink upstairs, get a dual band router. Mesh solutions apart from being more expensive are not one-size-fits-all. Tp-link has dual band wifi 6 routers for less than 100k and you can get them in naija easily.

Tp-link AX1500 is a good example

I don't want to bypass the Starlink completely.

I want to have network up in my room where the Starlink Router and ethernet adapter will be sitting, then network cable is already run from my room downstairs to my sitting room where I want to place the TP-Link router and hope to get a more decent speed too

My TP-Link model is TL-WR841N
300Mbps Wireless N Router
So it’s not dual band but it’ll still work

I want to ask, if I use starlink ethernet adapter and do bypass connecting to another router for other devices, will starlink Router be serving its function as a router or completely off while transferring its router function to the third party router

I already asked Stanley08 this question, but he yabbed me grin

My starlink Router is currently placed in my room upstairs with fantastic speed while we spend most of the time in the living room downstairs watching other Internet devices too..Speed is not as fantastic as it should be

I intend to use tp Link router downstairs when my starlink ethernet adapter is shipped

Will the Starlink adapter in the room still serve its purpose of providing wifi service on the room or will it transfer all it's wifi service to this 3rd party router
Well if you plug the adapter and run an Ethernet cable to your tp link, you will have two wifi signals.

Fun fact: you can name the second wifi signal the same name as the starlink wifi signal and you will have a rudimentary form of a mesh network. (You’ll have to tinker to get the security parameters and channels right for this to work).

If you want to bypass the starlink completely, there is a toggle in settings (click advanced settings) and you’ll be able to turn off the starlink router and all it’ll be is a power source for the dishy. All routing functions would be passed on to your router (tp link)

EDIT: If the model of your tplink is those n300 routers, be aware that you’ll not have access to the 5ghz band and it’s speeds. So if that’s important, make sure you’re using a dual band router with MU-MIMO functionality.

What did u buy to achieve all these
I’m not really sure what “all these” entails sha. It’s a two bedroom flat 2500sqf approx. I’ve got smart speakers littered all over (Amazon echo dots), smart lights and some nest sensors. I needed something that could broadcast across the entire space without the need for a mesh or extender. This Linksys did just that. I love the performance. I can stream games from my PS5 in the living room to my pc in my room lag free. The performance is dope. Oh yeah, I also got the Ethernet adapter. All this won’t happen without it.

That's a router. No? 1 router. Anyways maybe good enough if you need coverage on only one floor.
Yeah just one floor. Used to have dead spots in the bathroom inside the master bedroom. The Echo dot there disconnects a lot. Now there is wifi everywhere and all the smart devices are connected

Did you pay to enable portability? I'm suspecting I might have the same location issue because I had to chose a random area in CBD, Abuja before I was allowed to make full payment. I know there is service where I'll be installing it in life camp but then, I don't know if they instantly allow one to change the service location.
I enabled it for less than 24 hours. I changed my service address in the early hours of this morning and it worked. Turned off portability immediately and sent a message to support that everything was working then closed the ticket. It’s been working fine all day.

Is there a very good alternative to the Deco X55 (AX3000) that's not as expensive as it is? For example, can this one still serve well?
Let me help you because I am nice. You don't need any fancy mesh system. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092VXR7B5/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=A9OG4LL1QK8P1&psc=1 this will work too.

Starlink is giving up to 250Mbps. You don't need gigabit speeds on your mesh.

I can't understand why Starlink keeps shipping used dishes to us. It was the same experience I had with my first order. It looked used and very dusty. And because of the abysmal performance, I believed it was defective, and that was why I had to return it and got refunded.

I had hoped that my new order would come with a brand new dish, but given that they are still shipping used dishes to us, I doubt my new order will come with a brand new dish.

I intend to go get it from their office tomorrow morning, and if I am not satisfied with the looks and performance, I will return it and won't be getting another again.
I really don't mind the look as long as the functionality isn't affected. Its gonna be on the roof so I really couldn't be bothered.

Could you clarify the emboldened? Do you mean it's been used elsewhere in Kuje before, as in it's a used or refurbished dish?

For the portability, did you have to pay for it?
It did look used. Not brand new. It works though. I’m not sure if someone has used it but the location it marked was almost 60km from where I am.

I didn’t pay for portability. In the support ticket I did say I have turned it on pending when the fix the issue

EDIT

I have opened support ticket because it seems this dishy has been setup somewhere in Kuje before because that seems to be where it expects itself to be. I have also enabled portability for now (So that allows me browse for now, until they resolve the matter). My first speed test gave me 31Mbps UP and 6Mbps Down.

Expecting it to improve with time. Now I need to figure out how to pass this cable into the house.

Hey, sup brother, how u dey.
So a few questions, I'm also in a 3 floor terrace..
1. Did you test the range/signal strength before you got the Deco or you just got them from the start? If you tested, what was it like on all 3 floors without the Deco?

2. I assume your dishy is on your (flat) roof? How did you install it pls? I have been brain storming on the perfect way to have it on the roof when it arrives.

3. Doesn't using the Decos mean you're not using the Starlink router at all? Seems oke has to bypass the Starlink router all together, no? A brief on the set up would be nice.

4. Lastly, is this the exact Ethernet adapter you got? (attached)

By the way, my most recent order was on the 20th of March and it's shipped on the 24th, to arrive tomorrow 27th. 1 week from order to delivery. It appears they have restocked the Lagos inventory and things should be faster at least for now. I had one order in Feb that didn't ship for nearly 3 weeks, had to cancel it.
No be me you ask but I go answer anyway.

1. The starlink mesh doesn’t do well vertically. Don’t stress yourself.

2. This one…I will know the answer later today when I install mine. I also have a flat roof. Scared of heights but for starlink…I will brave the trail!!!

3. Yeah, you’ll have to go into the router and click the bypass toggle. You should be aware of the downsides of using a mesh system though. Google will help you with that. But the deco is fairly easy to setup. I’ll try to get you a link.

EDIT!! Here you go: CLICK HERE[url]

4. Yes, that’s the correct adapter

Mine also showed shipped on 24th, tracking doesn’t give an estimated delivery date, no address. The 150ft cable I ordered same day got shipped earlier shows its arrival date to be 30th. Also is your tracking number same as your order number?
No it’s not the same. It’s a tracking number, different from bala…never mind.

Click on the tracking number link in your starlink profile and then it’ll take you to the DHL tracking page. There you willl see the correct tracking number.

I placed an order on Monday, March 20. It shipped yesterday March 24 and will arrive Abuja on Monday March 27. I think they have restocked their Lagos inventory.
So they clearly wait until they have a particular number of orders before they ship to Nigeria. We all, who have ordered in the last 5 weeks, got our shipped notification last week. As a business it makes sense to operate that way. Keeps the shipping costs down. As a customer that has to wait for up to 5 weeks to get thier item…that can’t be cool at all.

Let’s see sha, plenty people should be giving reviews this week as they get their units.

It would be helpful if people who have already set theirs up help us with mounting tips and tricks. Na that one be my new headache. I heard someone used the DSTV mount to do his. VERY IMPORTANT!

When you get your Starlink tracking number, call DHL on this number 0803 907 7000 and make sure you update the details on the shipment. You can also do it on the DHL Express app.

This is very important. I know 3 people that had 1 week extra delay because of wrong address / no phone number on the package.

The problem also is that Starlink USA ships it to Starlink Nigeria and uses your name as Care/Of C/O. So please make sure you contact DHL and update your information with them IMMEDIATELY you get your tracking number.

I was driving when I got my tracking number, I parked and called DHL Lmao. Me I no like story at all! And I got my item very quickly, the DHL guy even told me it's good I called because they wrote rubbish on they package.

You can even tell them to just hold it at a DHL office especially the one at the airport so you can go and pick it up yourself. But note that because it was shipped to Starlink Nigeria and your name used as C/O, ONLY YOU can pick it up personally. Nobody else but ONLY YOU in person with your ID of course. Sometimes this is simpler than allowing them to try to deliver and making mistake up and down. Lol my guys went through this but then they never did the information update that I talked about earlier. 1 week after e reach Lagos them never see Starlink and they are all in Lagos. Meanwhile I got mine same day lol.
