UPDATE 1 Believe it or not, I think my shipping is being delayed by amazon. I just found out you’re supposed to get the free game codes 7 days after your other has shipped but in the terms and conditions, the promo expires on the 6th of April. Very bad behavior. I dey come make I go follow customer care fight. I’ll be back UPDATE 2 06/04/19 So after my order was cancelled last week, I had to place the order again. It arrives next week. I am also happy to announce that I have received the game codes as promised so now I have access to choose between The Division 2, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2. We moving So I finally got a case. And for N15,000 UPDATE 3 Wow, it’s been a long week, finally built it. Runs like a charm. Overclocked it to run at 3.9Ghz at 1.37V. Ram was over clocked to run at 3000Mhz my benchmarks are good but she runs a bit hot. Max temp when I’m gaming hit about 70*C which for me is too high. I’ll be buying a bigger CPU cooler when I’m getting second stick of ram next month. Playing division on 1080p high at 70fps is what I call a breeze. I’m back to PC gaming and it’s amazing. Paid for Origin Access Premier so I can play anthem and fifa 19. I’ll answer any questions you have to the best of my knowledge including buying and shipping options and best advice on budget builds. Hey guys, This is going to be my diary for this build. Haven't built anything since my GTX 600 Series build back in the day. To give a little background, I moved away from desktop gaming while I was in the university. Laptops started becoming mainstream. They never came close in terms of raw power but the frame rates we got were decent. Next I got a laptop with a GTX 960M which was able to run games at 720p on medium settings. Played a lot with that but it still lacked the power I would have liked. So when the MB got fried, I went over to the dark side and got an XBOX ONE. So the 1080p itch was being scratched on a very low budget. Anyway, yesterday I called my little brother and told him "you own an xbox one now." He is very happy and I am an awesome brother. ![]() So lets talk about my build. Its definitely not a ROG-grade build so i'm gonna call it the GOAB-Build (Gaming on a budget) ![]() CASE I haven't decided on a case just yet. I have this in mind ANTEC GX200 MIDI-TOWER BLACK COMPUTER CASE but it costs about N35,000 which is too high for my budget build. Still looking though. If I can't find one before next week, I'll retrofit an old case or even make a wooden one. Been seeing some crazy designs on pintrest and i have to admit, I am curious. I'll Let you know how it goes. PSU So for this build I'm going with the EVGA 500 BR, 80+ Bronze 500W. This is costing me about N15,000 and is more than adequate for this build. If I had some more money, I would have opted for the 550W but...yeah MOTHERBOARD For N30,000, the GIGABYTE B450M DS3H (AMD Ryzen AM4/M.2/HMDI/DVI/USB 3.1/DDR4/Micro ATX/Motherboard) is a steal. It supports the current Ryzen second generation series and should stay relevant for the next 3-4 years or so. Thankfully AMD doesn't change sockets anyhow (I'm looking at you intel ). CPU As you might have guessed, I'm going with AMD on this build. I'll admit it wasn't an easy choice. The Intel i3-8100 was looking very juicy but the Ryzen 3-2200G is cheaper and unlocked which means I can overclock it safely (It comes with the WRAITH COOLER). Its costing me N35,000 GPU So this decision was quite interesting for me. When I drew out my spec sheet I put down the Zotac GTX 1050TI as the card to get. Its quite cheap and can handle 1080p on medium settings for most games. On a whim I decided to check out other cards in that price range. I settled on the AMD RX 570 8GB which easily blows the GTX 1050 out of the water. I found one from XFX for N56,00 that was cheaper than the N59,000 GTX 1050. I almost bought it too and then I started looking at the benchmarks and then I realized XFX had an RX 580 GB for N62,000. An extra N3000 for even better performance seemed like a very easy choice. Now AMD is currently offering two free games to choose from a list on every RX 570 and upward card purchase. You get to choose between The Division 2, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2. Thats easily N44,000 worth of free games and they are all very highly rated too. If I was even considering the GTX, with the free games on offer...this awoof go sweet me die ![]() Anyway I found out the 580 I wanted didn't come with the free games so I kept searching. I finally settled for the Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB GDDR5 Dual HDMI which cost N70,000 (There is a Nigerian store selling it for N136,000). This card is just under the GTX 1070 in performance and slightly ahead of the GTX 1060 6GB so 1080p is gonna be a breeze ![]() RAM This one isn't too hard. I am getting a Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 3000 MT/s for N17,000. I'll buy another in a month or two. 8GB will do for now. HARD DISK So SSDs are cheaper now. I have a 4TB Western Digital Blue Edition. I'm pairing that with a Silicon Power 512GB SSD that is costing me N21,000. It's costing me about N32,000 to ship these to my house in Abuja. They should get here by next week and then we can build. I'll update you guys....I'm so excited. ![]() |
Mrviktor:I’m assuming you are installing digitally right? Cuz if you are using a disk there might be an update |
infinitycane:Biko how? How does migrating to PlayStation bring more joy? What are they offering that I don’t already have? What really is the benefit if I migrate? |
Mrviktor:No need for updates. |
Lana1:I can’t be a dick about this but total war is really hard to love. It tries to do so much at the same time...always managing to get no part perfectly. I’ve played a few...mostly meh |
LucemFerre:Luce we will quarrel o. FM Is life. Life is FM. nuff said. |
That’s a tough one to answer. Best exclusive this year? Or best exclusive ever? For this year, I’ll say horizon 4. Ever has to be gears of war. But I go still talk am, my game of the year is three years old. The Division. I’m addicted to that game. |
LucemFerre:Easily my best. If it was turn based then I would say XCOM 2. Can play that game over and over again. Modified Before xcom comes football manager o. Just got FM19. My wife is already furious...she knows what is coming |
dabosuker:I run three active subscriptions that total $25 per month. Game pass $10 Xbox gold live $10 EA access $5 I usually get discounts though. Like my previous live subscription was $9.99 for 3 months and my current game pass subscription is $9.99 for three months. But yeah, I do all of it |
How is Starcraft 2 not on this list? |
dabosuker:You can’t play Gamepass games without an active subscription. They throw in bonuses once in a while so keep an eye out. Yeah you need Xbox live for online play |
dabosuker:Name her quick. I’m a fifa fan boy...nuff said. Oga why are you buying game? Have you played everything in game pass? Be guided o. Now gaan play metro redux. Then play the division (my game of the year. Hit me up any time and let’s play together.) then play quantum break. Wolfenstein and doom are also in line. Sea of Theives and state of the decay will wound you. Being honest it’s hard to buy game o. There is so much with game pass. It’s not possible to have more than one subscription on one account at any given time. Don’t look for hack my brother...you no go see. That’s a PlayStation thing. For the family of the cloud...we form like we spend money but $10 per month is a very awesome deal considering 12 months cost the same price as one PS4 game. Name her quick and gaan download the division. You’ll thank me immediately. Espoehn you play with me...hehehe |
dabosuker:Guy that’s mad hardware you’re sitting on. Congrats. Hope you gave it a name. Mine is called Miss Xaya (pronounces zayah). You made the switch back in time. I’m also a PC gamer. Got a nice little rig here too. Just bought FM19 sef. Anyway, you switched at a the time when Xbox one just introduced keyboard and mouse support so it’ll feel like good ol pc gaming. Not all games support it yet...but moving forward, more will. Welcome bro |
ladokuntlad:Alright. Personally, I use the us store. Which means I put in a US address. Which is usually House None, NA Avenue in Kansas USA (pick any city but google the postal code). Then I add my Nigerian debit card. I have mine (Stanbic) and my wife’s (zenith) added. They both work. My friend uses gtb. My diamond never works. Make sure you get a card that PayPal accepts and you’ll be fine. Also the conversion rate is determined by your bank. |
LucemFerre:I’ll admit, you are right...but we keep pushing to make the future come tomorrow. |
tobianthony:Not entirely...but reduced to a less than noticeable minimum |
crafteck:Nope. Thanks to the new HDMI tech that allows more bandwidth, we can send video, audio and data at much faster speeds thus eliminating the need for more wires |
tobianthony:When times are hard, I use 9mobile |
d4guy:Ntel for downloading. Spectranet for playing. Both unlimited subscriptions but the Ntel is weekly. |
crafteck:For the masses with that Lagos sense of humor I’m sure. In a way, I think you’re right. Not two years though. With the amount of work we have been able to do at FAROCON, I can tell you it will be relevant next year. We would be having an exhibition in February where you can come and experience VR the way it should be experienced. We aim to change the narrative and so far it’s been a great and positive step in the right direction |
LucemFerre:Actually you can enjoy a very immersive VR experience in a chair. Today we aren’t changing much...just putting you inside the same things you already enjoy. The past has put a lot of negatives on this but with time I believe that can be corrected and we will get people to perceive VR the way it should be perceived |
meobizy:You’re right...it is expensive...but I think you are confusing VR and AR. Even if you aren’t, most of your concerns are being addressed as me go on. Nvidia recenky relased drivers for low spec graphic cards in their 10th gen line up to make them VR ready. Maybe it didn’t take traction at first but with the amount of content and the experience it delivers and the fact that we finally have the technology to drive it mainstream, I think it is no longer a fad |
LucemFerre:Oh you will...but in a good way. The thing about technology is that it doesn’t wait for adoption. It’s coming...adoption is where the issue lies and we are trying to open the door so Nigerians can peep and see that it is good |
typicalgamer:I had issues at first until I tried my wife’s zenith. Some cards work...some don’t |
Suspect33:Yes. Either via hard drive or LAN |
It is the future. The company where I work, we build game rooms people here in Nigeria. Initially, it seemed like it won’t be a great concept but today, with the type of content being pushed for VR, I can tell you it’s here to stay. Not in the ready player one way but in a more controlled and safe way. It’s a different experience from the normal gaming and once you have tasted it, there is no going back. We are also trying to make this technology affordable for Nigerians. |
typicalgamer:I don’t follow...are you saying it does not accept yours or that it does not accept mine? I use a US address but I use my own Stanbic Nigerian card. |
TheBawse:Already downloading |
TheBawse:I think I’m connected to the us store. Just got game pass for three months for $9.99. It accepts my Stanbic card though |
TheBawse:Awesome. Been offline for a while. Work and all that. I’ll check for your invite this evening. |
Controller360:55k on average. Way i see it, that could change towards the end of the year. With the amount of attention game pass is getting more people are looking to buy Xbox one now. More demand means an increase in price. Move as fast as you can. |
kinglyt:1. Verify the os version. iOS 11 and above would be better. 2. If it’s ios 11 and above, check the battery capacity (settings/battery/battery health) and make sure it is above 90%. Unless you want to have a slow phone with terrible battery life after a few months. 3. iPhone 6s comes with 3D Touch. Press the screen. On all the icons you see, make sure the screen reacts to slight pressure. Most refurbished phones come with fake screen and you’ll hate it after a few falls. Original screens are much tougher. 4. Make sure it’s not locked to iCloud. 5. Get a receipt and don’t just buy from someone you can’t trace. You’ll need that info if the phone ends up being a stolen phone. I’ll post more if I think of something |

I also noticed to do mutiplayer u need xbox gold membership, so I guess one has to run both game pass & gold membership?
, am crowning her the queen of my entertainment, I have given out my 2011 N15k LG home theater
