The larisoft guy too dey form badoo, I don't know why tho.

BTW: Some software firm I know of uses that method for developer recruitment and I'm very sure. I'm sure of ByteWorks Abuja.
I can attest that larisoft is not an average programmer. From what he has posted on github that i have come across, the guy is an advanced programmer. By their fruits you shall no them. He is also very creative in that he uses available stuff to get his desired results.

Bro, you have serious hate for Computer Scientists and Mathematician.

From your other thread on Interview to this?

If I have a software company, I will never, (I repeat,) never, ever employ a developer who didn't study Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology and Computer Engineering (EEE inclusive).

Reason is that, all developer who didn't study those courses listed above, end up writing shitty codes. What you all do is go to the internet Google and cram codes to yourself. That is why people will be very bold to say that Nigerian developer ain't good enough. I say it is simply because of people like you that just don't know how to solve IT problems using some set of standards.

I am not quarrelling with you bro, but I want you to stop all this your non sense talk about Computer Scientists and their likes.
Sorry man but you seem to have zero idea about software development. A degree does not make you a software developer. Its your desire to be one. And yes you are right some people cram codes(everyone starts with that cos software development is abstract and foreign to our natural way of thinking).
ProgrammingRe: Programmer’s Writer’s Block: Causes And Solutions by seunthomas: 10:43pm On Mar 26, 2016
FrankLampard:
For me degree is very important, in the field of software development, Networking, Data Administration etc. Because the way things are going now, programming may not solve our problems any longer. Meaning we have to go back to how it started. ie Complex Data Structure, Algorithms, Concurrency etc.

Larry, even the basic CRUD operations you listed. One may still need optimization to be done to it also eg Imagine you have some rows of about 10 million data in your table and you want to locate and delete the 9000th item within the shortest possible time. Bro that code you crammed from Google will crash, because it can't handle operations like this.

Non IT related guy(Someone who didn't study computer science or related) are people who create Enterprise Applications that are so prone to many security flaws. Reason; no knowledge of how most security technics works.

Certificate at times too is important, because, IT as a field of study is changing at a lightening speed, and certification comes in play.

I would advice season HR personnel in big organization to direct their developers to go for courses like Big Data, because that is era we are moving towards now in IT.
Sorry to contribute to this. DEGREE is not needed for software development or any of these fields you mentioned, rather a passion for it. Software developers are like artists, its either you have the gift or not(critical thinking, problem solving). You can learn it but you will never be as good as the person who naturally has flare/passion for it.
ProgrammingRe: My New C# Open Source App Prevents Laptop Background Data Consumption On Windows by seunthomas: 10:33pm On Mar 26, 2016
Nice one bro. But with your experience i would recommend you go lower. Why use netstat when you can create something lightweight that provides more information to you than netstat using libraries that dissect and filter the network stack directly. I know netstat is on all windows from 98/2000 but it means you solution is less likely to port to another platform because of your dependencies. What you have created is a foundation for a very nice security product.
ProgrammingRe: Number Generator Challenge : Can You Solve This? by seunthomas: 10:28pm On Mar 26, 2016
You want to find the needle in the haystack. The key used in signing the encryption. Is this a hash or a cipher? Cos its not like a looking cipher(Are all the values correct?). I noticed you posted another question like this, are you trying to reverse engineer a software?
ProgrammingRe: Solving Real Problems by seunthomas(op): 2:39pm On Mar 09, 2016
Imaginery company HackALot wants to hire you develop a monitoring system for the government of XYZ country. The country has been getting a lot of terrorist threats recently and recruited the company to build a system to monitor phone conversation and internet traffic for anyone in the country. HackALot already has access to the data and only needs to develop a system to monitor and detect anomalies that can lead them to determine if a specific person poses a terrorist threat or not.
Using what ever technology possible, explain how you would go about building this kind of system.
Major consideration is that the system must work in realtime.
Assumptions all phone call data has been converted to text representation, encrypted internet traffic has been decrypted to plain text.

Its a free world and so everybody has a right to say what they like. We should be careful about "judge and jury syndrome". Its a common problem with us Nigerians.

On one hand, you could be correct... On another hand I think they do need Apple's help. And it's not just decrypting data they need. They need to unlock the phone without loosing data. Normally, they should be able to unlock it, but that would mean loosing the data
Ok, let me tell you my honest opinion. I think the FBI just needs legality. The point is they probably have all they need on that device. They just cant present it in court because it cant be admissible(due to the means they got it). They need legal powers to say yeah we got this through the right means and are presenting it in court else any judge would throw it out. Also they want it to be wider more constant arrangement so they dont need to go through the rigours the next time they want to prosecute a case.

ProgrammingRe: My Eyes Are Becoming Weak- Over Exposure To Computer by seunthomas: 7:50am On Mar 05, 2016
Save money and buy a better laptop. There are very nice tools out their in the market that make work easier for us computer guys. They cost more than the regular stuff. When buying a device try to read user reviews about it. You would be surprised at what you find. I had a dell laptop that had a power button issue and this was a known problem by even dell, etc

I don't think it is right to force Apple to create a backdoor for their device. Apple actually helped with getting some data from iCloud, however the FBI kinda messed up and reset the Phone's iCloud account. And now it seems the only way around it is for Apple to create a Backdoor. If I were in charge of Apple, I would but I still don't think the FBI should force them.
But lets be real here do you think the FBI,NSA,CIA actually need help to decrypt the data? Even if they were using a 1024 bit cipher or do you think apple's OS is truly as secure as they make it out to be? I think the FBI wants something more.

I got an interesting challenge for you guys on the IOS security.
Most of you who have been following the FBI vs Apple case would probably have an understanding of what this is about.
The FBI has been trying to get into the iphone 5c of a couple responsible for an act of terror somewhere in the US( San Bernardino,CA).
Now the FBI guru's claim they cant get into the device(i will leave the details) and hence they need apple to create a backdoor. Apple refuses.
Kindly air your views. Is the FBI correct, is Apple correct.

Scaling a site shouldn't be after the fact, it really should happen during development.

But been that this site is just a simple web forum, which is read heavy, the scaling solution is pretty standard.
Cache like hell, consider a ram disk and load the entire DB in memory for all text content, all non text content should be hosted on an outside CDN.
Having Nairaland handle a million users daily should be pretty trivial.
Been that you are reading from HD instead of SSD, limit the amount of reads, since HD spinning is expensive, this comes down to sysadmin duties, checking DB/system configurations.
I honestly don't believe any scaling solution right now should involve coding, it's all about having a knowledge scaling/sysadmins/dba ops experience.
Though your solution is good and effective, newer ways of application development mean you can actually handle more load than previously. Take a look at vertx and see what they can achieve with limited resources.
ProgrammingRe: Computer Science/programming Challenging Questions by seunthomas: 7:15am On Feb 29, 2016
Well since this is not about arguments, then fire away. Are we allowed to think outside the box? Cos most times programming questions are restrictive and tend not to look at all possibilities.....

You get we'll know why I'm smiling with all my teeth showing. I'm a bit surprised you can "eye-ball" code without running it on a compiler and tell that it will run. You know now struct, ->, and other ugly C Code. I guess you can also tell if they will run without compiling them grin
@airsaylongcon I wrote a similar program using watcher not long ago. So as for your surprise, not moved na. The solution was the elegant way to go unlike anyhing you have provided which is always mired in debate and controversy. Like i said, i dont need to prove anything to you and your band wagon na. If you see light and prefer mediocrity, then be my guest. It should actually show you that contrary to what u and many of your bandwagons believe and preach, i am not out to destroy anyone. Someone was said progress is when we appreciate the good and correct the bad or is that wrong?? If you create good code, i wont critic na but commend...
By the way i was self taught and the thing about self taught people in programming is that they are always passionate. So when i critic you, its not because i want to destroy you but rather like Jesus(zeal overwhelms me).

It is very insulting when you ignore a mention because you cannot defend your claim. I asked you at 5:22pm to highlight were the errors are in my solution. As at 5:34pm I can see that you are still active on NL. You gave me a challenge and I put my hands up and admitted that I didn't know it. You proposed a solution and I took it considering you set the challenge you must know the answer. I set you a challenge and after calling me all sorts of names you said you would come up with a solution today. You failed to do that. I came up with a solution and you said it was wrong. This is despite your inability to come up with a solution whether it worked or not. I have twice asked you to point out where the errors are and you have ignored me.

How do you meet deadlines at the office? I put it to you that you are a bloody coward unfit to stand where I defecate. A mouth action only guy. You are no programmer.
I have decided against popular opinion not to engage in this any longer. I hope the thread dies of soon. When you need answer to something you need to learn to be polite and not haul insult on the person who has the solution. I guess thats what some of the commenters on the thread lack. They want to bully me into given them solution for their f*ck up. It does not work that way.

@dhtml You just want to hear my voice sha. lol.
One of the first great lessons i learnt as a programmer is that no one can compel you to prove your self. I guess am applying that lesson with the likes of you and @asalimpo
I end with this little story from the bible "And the devil told him, if though be the Son of God, change this stones into bread"
And @asalimpo and @dhtml18 spoke to @seunthomas "If you are a programmer show us your github...."
Well like Jesus, i wont be cowed or intimidated. If you want me to solve a task for you, their are more responsible ways to ask.
