Hi Siena, All the ingriedents for successfully pulling this off are in place except the most vital piece which is the manpower and expertise to put it all together The MECHANIC! I have had various discussions with users and it all boiled down to one person located in the Ikeja area. I met him a couple of times but have still not being able to synchronise our times effectively in order to visit the vehicle location to set the ball rolling. I am unavailable weekdays and he is tied up weekends
Maybe this is a good time to holla out for capable Audi/VW mechanics out there anyone? (Lagos based)

Yes Siena, Two days to go. I picked up a battery this morning Hi Tedanne (thanks for looking in ), Patience please, the car is not even in my possesion yet! I am looking at getting it to start this weekend and thereafter towing/hauling it to the repair site If the car starts, that's a whole lot of headache out of the way and will determine the sequence events will follow. . . Timing belt, filters, new oil, plugs etc No worries, I will keep the house properly updated in all regards Cheers |

Hi Siena Any thoughts for wheels? Stock are 17" and I'm sure 18" would make for a nice replacement but I get twitchy when profiles (aspect ratio) get below 50 because of the kind of roads we have in these parts
What are your thoughts on this? Please recommend some wheels (pictures/price et al) for wheel and tyre
Thanks |

Siena: A brand new KKK-03 turbocharger is £380. This includes surcharge, as I won't be getting your old unit back. If you're buying a pair (advisable as replacement involves engine removal) I can offer a discount. Nothing stops me from sending the old units to you. How much of a discount are we looking at for the pair if I do send the old ones to you?? Siena: The KKK-04 is a lot more expensive, but not worth buying to fit to a KKK-03-engine 2,7T in Nigeria. The ECU will need a remap, as the different trims in the KKK-04 units means the engine won't run right with a KKK-03 map. No mucking about then. . . 03 it is Siena: Complete Audi A6 Avant Quattro suspension (springs and dampers) works out £520 brand new, or £275 used. Please advise the merits and otherwise of new vs. used here. Cost of the used is looking very delicious from where I'm sitting |

Hi Siena
What can you say about the Arnott's Gen II air-sprints + Bilstein shocks? Or the standard replcement kit is the way to go? (Non-adjusting Springs?) |

Siena: Looking good bud. The fact it looks so dirty, and has obviously been neglected means your restoration is starting from a blank canvas. A good base car too! Don't forget the turbos are different, left and right. You'll need a KKK-03. The air suspension, can be replaced with conventional spring and damper set-up from an A6 Avant Quattro. Keep us posted, if you need any advice or tips, just holler. Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks for a quick response I remember you mentioned the KKK-04 as being more applicable from a durability point of view? Does this still stand? Siena: I know you say she's got a dead turbo, but does she still run? A blown turbo could be defective in different ways: 01) Blown oil seal (smoking, more under load). 02) Damaged bearing (rattling / whistling). 03) Cracked housing (hotside, in wastegate area). 04) Broken shaft. 05) Damaged turbine vanes. 06) Shaft seized (due to oil starvation). 07) Wastegate broken (flap detached). Now there is no way to actually confirm any of the above unless we get the car started. I wont be able to comment on this till then. I will be seeing the car again this weekend and will try to get the engine to turn over. Chap says battery and petrol and the car will start. Remains to be seen |
