Streetinvestor2: una dey over rate this 200M for present nigeria cost of things walahi What is the percentage of people that have 200M in the world ? Let's start from there . If you are debt - free and you have 200M in NGX , you are RICH by the World Standard. The essence of living is to satisfy one's basic needs and have some bars left to enjoy life. No be everybody wan buy Yacht or Private Jet. The lack of contentment is what make a lot die in this rat race Make nobody pressure anybody. |

mikeapollo:
Remember N200m is not up to $150,000 any more ooo. If you buy one house (a 4 bedroom flat bungalow or duplex) from the N200m or N150m, how much would remain assuming you decide to retire? Remember that some people also borrowed to invest and they have to repay the loan from the gains. We thank God for his mercies; N200m may sound huge but the actual value has dropped. N200M in any part of the world is a decent amount. With that amount, you are richer than 90% of the world populace. 200M in good dividend paying companies in NGX is RICH. We should stop the act of dollarizing everything. Nigerians settle their local obligations in Naira. |

The case of Airtel is who wan SELL , while the case of Total energies is who wan BUY. Nigeria still needs the big foreign pockets to make our market more liquid and more robust.
The question is , will this CGT encourage these big foreign pockets to come in ? |

emmanuelewumi: It was reluctantly listed.
Listing was part of the agreement for them to settle the issues they had with FGN..
Because they were repatriating profit to South Africa might also be another reason why they are highly leveraged.
Lafarge Africa was in Nigeria for about 60 years, but never invest heavily in Nigeria busy repatriating profit to France now they are playing catch up with Dangote Cement and BUA cement who are younger than Lafarge in the industry.
Same with Mobil Oil, Total Energy (down stream), they enjoyed subsidy windfall from 1993 to 2023, but never had a reserve which they could use to build a refinery in Nigeria, with the coming of Dangote Refinery and end of fuel subsidy, they will struggle for survival and profitability Total energies ( down stream ) FY2025 result will be appalling . They really need to re-strategize and adapt. |

Shalom428: Make I Market my products.
Make una buy Salt and Sugar and help my ministry.
Salt FY EPS is projected to be N15+ upward and that will probably shoot the price to N120+ , that is about 30% upside ,all things being equal. With dividend yield of about 7 - 8% at the current price, you go chop cap appreciation, still chop better dividends. Better than Fixed income, now that the rates are tanking
Sugar's worst days are over; it gets better from here. When the backward integration kicks in fully, the profit will be astronomical. It's better to key in now, than chasing it when the race begins.
Thank you as you patronise. Just like I said in one of my posts about Sugar and Salt, the probability for Nascon hitting 120 this year is 1 , so if 20% is not too little for you in a short term , you can key into Salt today , 120 is guaranteed . As for Sugar , those that are really patient with it will be bountifully rewarded. FOLLOW THE MONEY! |

megawealth01: Let me drop a good comparison between the three (3) cement giants...
Company Overview
Dangote Cement is the largest cement producer in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. It is a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, founded by Aliko Dangote. With a focus on dominating the African market, it operates massive plants in Obajana, Ibese, and Gboko.
BUA Cement is a rapidly growing Nigerian cement company under the BUA Group, led by Abdul Samad Rabiu. Though younger than Dangote Cement, BUA has quickly grown through strategic plant expansion in Sokoto and Okpella.
Lafarge Africa, formerly Lafarge WAPCO, is backed by the Swiss-based Holcim Group. It has a long history in Nigeria and focuses heavily on sustainability and innovative cement solutions, with plants in Ewekoro, Sagamu, Ashaka, and Mfamosing.
Production and Market Reach
Dangote Cement has the highest installed production capacity in Nigeria, estimated at over 35 million metric tons annually. It also exports to more than 10 African countries and enjoys economies of scale.
BUA Cement has approximately 11 million metric tons of annual capacity, focusing mainly on the Nigerian market, though it is beginning to export.
Lafarge Africa has about 10.5 million metric tons of installed capacity. Its export capacity is relatively limited, and its focus is more on deepening local market penetration with eco-friendly cement products.
Financial Performance (2024)
Dangote Cement is by far the most profitable. In 2024, it generated over ₦2.2 trillion in revenue and over ₦390 billion in profit after tax. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at around ₦22.27, and it paid a dividend of ₦30 per share.
BUA Cement earned around ₦460 billion in revenue and ₦88 billion in net profit. Its EPS was about ₦2.61, with a dividend payout of ₦2.00 per share. Despite its rapid growth, its dividend yield remains relatively modest due to its higher valuation.
Lafarge Africa earned approximately ₦405 billion in revenue and ₦51 billion in profit. EPS was around ₦3.17, and the company also declared a ₦2.00 dividend. It trades at a lower P/E ratio than BUA and Dangote, making it a potential value stock.
Stock Market Standing (as of July 2025)
Dangote Cement remains the most valuable publicly listed company in the cement sector with a market capitalization of over ₦6 trillion. Its share price hovers around ₦490.
BUA Cement’s market cap is about ₦2.3 trillion, with a share price around ₦132. It is seen as a growth stock with strong future potential.
Lafarge Africa is the smallest among the three in market value, standing at roughly ₦400 billion, with a share price in the ₦125 range.
Strategic Focus
Dangote Cement emphasizes dominance through scale, logistics efficiency, and regional exports. Its large integrated plants and wide distribution network give it significant leverage.
BUA Cement focuses on internal growth and efficiency. It has been aggressively expanding, commissioning new lines and power infrastructure to cut costs.
Lafarge Africa, under the global Holcim umbrella, emphasizes sustainability, waste recycling, and green cement technologies. Its Geocycle initiative is one of the most advanced waste-to-energy solutions in the industry.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Dangote Cement’s main strength is scale and profitability, but its large exposure to Nigeria and currency risks are concerns. BUA Cement’s strength lies in fast growth and strategic execution, though its high valuation may limit upside for investors in the short term. Lafarge Africa’s core strength is its alignment with global ESG trends and Holcim’s technical support, but its smaller scale and weaker recent margins are limitations.
My Thoughts
Dangote Cement is best suited for investors seeking stability, large dividends, and African regional exposure.
BUA Cement is ideal for those betting on long-term growth in Nigeria’s infrastructure and industrial sectors.
Lafarge Africa appeals to ESG-conscious investors and value seekers who want a more balanced, sustainable cement player. For me , it's a no brainer , DangCem all the way , until fundamentals changes. |

Mpeace: But no one will enter a stock he/she does not believe in. And once in, he/she would naturally want to help others identify with such opportunity. To be sincere with you, 70% of money I have made on NSE is from stocks "marketed here"
From Transcorp to Ellah to Oando to Wapco to the banking stocks to Seplat to Cadbury etc I made money from members' marketing. So pls let the marketing continue. It is up to me to do further research and benefit from the marketing. So you think anyone will put his or her own interest below yours on a faceless forum. Trust me brother, if anyone on this forum preaches any stock , he or she is already loaded in that particular stock , hustlers , Ogas , anyone. Whatever gain you make is top up to them . I've been a player in this game for more than 20 years . The OGs know I'm saying the truth. Bottom line , do your own due diligence, research, make findings, learn , investigate . Be the champion of your funds and portfolio. Over and out. Shalom |

90% of people on this forum are marketers. Some market the big caps , other markets pennies but marketing na still marketing. The Ogas , the hustlers , the seldom commenters , virtually all are marketers.
No one will ever talk bad about a stock he or she is fully loaded in . If I have 400M in Ellah , I will always preach Ellah and attack anyone that talk bad about Ellah. If I have 400M in Nahco, Presco or Wapco , you will be my enemy if you say anything negative about any of these companies
No one is your friend on this forum and no one is your enemy. Do your due diligence, don't rely on anyone on this forum. Whatever they know, you can know too. Everyone dey here for themselves. Know this and have peace.
