Violent Night....7.5/10

Great entertainment all through. Great score and fun moments from start to finish. David Harbour really made it so enjoyable. Got pretty hilarious moments. It does all this while still maintaining its hard R rating.

The Chicago state university grab doesn't fly anymore, now you lot are going to hold on to this drug money forfeiture till the whole world believes it.

Sometimes I wonder who knows what goes on on its own soil more between Nigerian social media users and the FBI.

No. Knowing you Joe, you love playing the Devil's advocate. And your main grouse against Obi isn't personal or his tribe - you just don't want to support anyone ever linked to the PDP in the past. Which is odd because all major players had PDP links and Tinubu sabotaged his own party for Jonathan/PDP in 2011 so they were allies at a point. Until he wanted to be GCFR.
yes I'm well aware of the emboldened. Still the same, there is never a time or is it on record that Asiwaju ever decamped to join another political party. Same can't be said for Peter Obi who left APGA, decamped to PDP when it suited him, then left PDP to join LP because it suits him more.

So I'll tell you, Obi is no better than Atiku, FFK, Dino Melaye and any other politician who decamp the way prostitutes change customers as long as they know it will favour them.

If you don't believe Nigeria would get better, why are we having this conversation?
Electoral law, mused state policing, muled devolution of electricity generation and distribution to states...

This thread being the default political lounge of Nairaland proves we all have a faint hope it'd get better.
Yeah well I get you but sometimes it seem hopeless. I mean with the way the country is pummeling into a state of almost complete lack of morals, values, ethics and the likes.

Doing the right thing now in Nigeria will make you an easy target for you to be preyed on, and you'll be tagged 'fool'. Almost everything seem to be going south and nothing ever seems to work.

Nihilistjnr, this was my comment on the 12th of August. I was also referring to you. That was in the heat of the debate about Nigeria cannot work and not caring about the outcome.

The next you come up with that "I don't care" argument, we'd remind you. You folks can fool everybody.

You are exactly like Segalink on Twitter who plays fencist but long-time active folks on Twitter Nigeria all know where his loyalties lie.
Well atleast you know where my loyalties lie. grin

On another note, do you really believe Nigeria can work and things can actually get better?.

how?
You're jumping to a conclusion without providing an answer that leads to that conclusion.

Gotham is a safe place because the story says it's a safe place?
This is contradictory because the same story shows many supervillains being attracted to Gotham because of Batman
you're the one who is saying absolutely what he doesn't understand. No offense, but sometimes when you debate here I have this mental picture of you as a toddler which chuppa chops dangling from your mouth.

If you've watched The Dark Knight. The Joker clearly dissed Gotham mob bosses because they were hiding in shadows and afraid of Batman...

It was even stated that people can go about their businesses in the night and not be afraid of getting raped or mugged because the Batman might be around to deal with criminals.

The evidence is big enough for you to see, but you refuse to see the clearer picture. Whether Batman is there or not, does it take away the fact that Darkseid exist or the fact that Raj Al Ghul exist.

The same Raj Al Ghul told Batman I'm Batman Begins that they tried to destroy Gotham but people like Thomas Wayne saved the city. Now was Batman around before Raj decided to destroy Gotham.

This is the same childish opinion you gave concerning Avatar saying that guy betrayed humanity because of alien pussy. I mean what a narrow minded comment. You're saying he should support the complete destruction of an entire specie because of the greed of a select human. Na WA oh.

It's been a while I saw Avatar, and from what I remember of the movie, the guy did the right thing.

So there is a batman year one comic. Also an animated movie. If you go with the premise of that comic, batman inspired catwoman who was just a dominatrix type prostitute. She saw the bat beating up thugs and went and put together her own catsuit.

Also the comic ends with a throwaway comment about some person calling himself the joker who was threatening to poison gothams water supply.

So it can be argued that batman's presence inspired a bigger class of criminal.

Which is the way of the world in any event. Its always an arms race. The moment Americans dropped the bomb, it was inevitable that everyone else was going to try to make their own bomb.
no doubt. Still he's there to protect and reduce any threat that came to the city, even at so much personal cost.

So who is complaining.

yes, Gotham had very very high crime rate until Batman came along...

But Batman's existence put the city in more danger than it was before he came.

What is the point of reducing small scale crime if you then attract nuke level threats to the city?

It's like replacing 10 guns with 2 large bombs

Let me give you another scenerio:

Mr Peter lived in a city full of crime and violence. There were constant cases of Armed robberies and murder all over the city. It was truly a city with a very high crime rate where criminal gangs and the mafia ruled.

In order to protect his family (wife and kids) he decided to join the Mafia to achieve power to protect them.

After rising to the top of the mafia, Peter was able to protect his family from robbers and street murderers...

However, now his family faced threat from his rivals in the mafia who could afford to hire professional killers to get to him or his family

Instead of facing street thugs...now the threat is that of professional assassins

Was Mr Peter's family safer in the beginning or at present?
Bottom line, Batman's presence made Gotham a safe place than it was before. Period

e no concern me...
I'm questioning his entire existence in Gotham

1. Has Gotham become a better place with Batman or not?
Yes it has.

2. If you were an average resident of Gotham which would you choose:

A. A Gotham with High rate of small-time crime with murders, Mafia families, robbers, alleyway thieves, small time thugs etc that has managed to survive for 100s of years

OR

B. A Gotham with Low rate of small-time crimes but instead Nukes, City-existence level threats, Supervillains with super destructive powers bloodthirsted for revenge, potential for being used as bait to lure out a vigilante.

Choose.
I'll go with B. Atleast I know for certain that there are other super powered beings out their fighting against them, and protecting us at the same time. Instead of having crooked cops seat back and watch as the city burn.

Beside, you should know, before Batman came, Gotham was a piece of shit city which high crime rate and the cops couldn't do anything about it, until Batman came along.

I don't think u read the link in the news u posted, or let me say I don't think u understand the Orji Uzor Kalu's so called "acquittal" u are talking about here.

Uzor Kalu was convicted and sentenced to prison for 12 years after using his office as governor and his company as conduit pipe for stealing public funds (and rightfully so). The only reason Kalu is working today is the technicality of the law which our "leaders" have learnt to maneuver.

The judge that pronounced the judgement that sent him to prison had earlier been promoted to appeal court and ought to have assigned the case to another high court judge who should've pronounced the judgement. However, with the consent of Kalu's lawyer and EFCC's ( foolishly), a court of appeal judge left the appeal court, delivered the judgement in the high court.

Long story short, Kalu's lawyers didn't fight the numerous count of charges against him at the appeal, they just challenged the sentencing judge's jurisdiction and Kalu is suddenly "discharged and not guilty until proven innocent "

Kalu is a thief and that has already been established. The so called "retrial" u claim was ordered, Kalu himself has since gone to court to prevent it.

Agreed Nigeria is just a cesspit of corruption, but u trying to play on semantics and claim Kalu was discharge get as e be.
yet even with that same technicality, people like Bode George, Dariye and Nyame were sent to jail?

Orji Uzor Kalu is walking free and he is walking free. That's the truth, period.

Joe / Shaqfu has always been on the wrong side of history politically.

He's liberal about other issues but politically gets it wrong.

I remember the first time our digital paths crossed was in 2014 here on Nairaland in the Politics Section and we had series of fiery exchanges, with me attacking him for whitewashing Buhari, calling all the accusations fallacies even though Buhari oversaw billions of dollars siphoned as PTDF Chairman, had health challenges so is an absentee leader and many more.

By 2016/ 2017, he had to admit Buhari had failed.

Same signs with Tinybu, except we know Buhari's childhood history, we know his non-nuclear family blood relatives and he's no drug baron unlike Tinubu.
Buhari have never been trialed and convicted by any competent court of law. All what we hear and see are allegations upon allegation, and I'm sure you know as well as I know that, allegations aren't proof or facts, that can be tended as evidence.

Anybody who govern this country will fail, in as much as we Nigerians don't want a good and working country. All we want is a country where everything favour us and where we can misbehave and do what we like.

Let me even ask you, have you been to Anambra before?

Orji Uzor Kalu is a convicted thief. Tinubu's VP is a Boko Haramist. Too long.

Tinubu himself is a drug baron and embezzler. Judas was never convicted or tried. It didn't make him less of a thief.
Em if my memory serve me right, Orji Uzor Kalu was discharged and a fresh trial ordered.

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/391956-breaking-supreme-court-nullifies-orji-kalus-conviction-orders-fresh-trial.html

Remember what they say about "innocent until proven guilty?". grin

Ah yes, Shettima is a known Boko Haramist, well so is many northerners, this statement is actually from people who haven't even visited the north for once in their life. LoL.

You say Tinubu is a known drug dealer and and an embezzler. Yet he has never been convicted or jailed for any of the offense social media find him guilty of.

Of course Judas was never convicted or trialed, that's because he wasn't guilty of any offense found punishable by Judaic law by then. And you keep mentioning Judas, atleast the dude had more respect and character than Doyin Okupe. Atleast he felt guilty and admitted his guilt and took his own life out of guilt. In any election cycle or during politicking, you sieve.
Doyin Okupe stepped down for Obi during the PDP primaries and wanted an Obi presidency. Even canvassed for him when he decamped. You don't kick such a person until there's content reason to.

Immediately he began asking for funds just after the Kwankwaso VP debacle, his influence in Obi's camp diminished. Please screenshot any high-profile meeting or appearance Okupe has featured with Obi in the last 2 or 3 months (which is after the funding saga).

Kenneth Okonkwo has been Obi's most visible spokesperson. Okupe lost rank months ago.

Facts only!

But the nerve of Tinubu supporters whose principal is surrounded by bands of thieves to point fingers is daring. You are the conglomerate if thieves and your principal has every corruption tag there is.
Even Jesus had a thief who was revealed and the scoundrel was cut-off

And, yes, he's my Peter Obi. He's always been since years ago.
can you visibly name the band of thieves who support Tinubu? Kindly note, when you do name them, you should name the offense they committed and the sentence they were trialed and convicted for such offense.

Also, since you said Tinubus is corrupt, I'd also like you to name one or two offense he has been found guilty of, which he was also trialed, convicted and sentence to jail for.

Funny you used Jesus as an example. I'll have you know, the thief amongst Jesus' disciple had a reason for being there. Now I wonder what reason Okupe had being in the midst of Saint Peter Obi, aside stepping down for him and seeking corrupt means of being compensated.

My good friend, a real saint will never align his or herself with known thieves. That's a standard truth, politics or not.

This was the comment I made on May 10 before any of the party primaries held. Before there was anything like an Obidient wave.

Okupe had nothing to do with Obi becoming LP candidate. He's an opportunist. It was Prof. Utomi and a few persons I'd rather not name who got the slot then sidestepped for Okupe. And the plan began in July, 2020 (something I mentioned in another post in February this year).

There's a reason we all rejected Okupe's call for donation until Peter Obi released a donation platform himself 3 months ago. We all knew Okupe for who he really is.
Yet your Peter Obi readily associated with him and gave him a juicy position which he already wanted to start to milk. Then I ask again: "what business does an imperfect virgin have doing in a house full of whores?".
