OgogoroDegree: Congrats to guys that got approved !
To be rejected is not good ooooo Kai !
After the whahala of letter of recommendations from dos lecturer and the sleepiness night of studying for all test. The long term waiting of admission decision Omg!
I go kill myself soon Delay is not denial and it is certainly not the end of the world. If you want to kill yourself, that's totally fine. Living is a choice we make every day despite everything life throws at us. People fall, people rise, people laugh, people cry. Life is not a fairy tale, there are no genies granting our wishes or fairy godmothers waving wands to please us. I got my visa at the first attempt and so what? My friends got theirs at 2nd, 3rd and 6th, and so what? We all succeeded eventually and that's all that matters. We won! The time frame is irrelevant, the triumph is everything. Ultimately, I bind and cast every negative vibe, I purify and sanctify this thread with as much positivity as the universe holds. May the force be with us! 8 Likes 1 Share |

I don't know if I should laugh or cry, this is just so beautiful. I'm glad you got the help you needed. God bless you Tohajan: APPRECIATION DIARY
Visa approved this morning Lagos Consulate 8am Program: MPH
First of all, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) for making this a success. Honestly, my responses were nowhere near perfect. As a matter of fact, it still feels like a dream.
My mentor, Rasulullah (peace and blessings forever be upon him) taught me, "whoever does not appreciate fellow man, will never be able to appreciate God".
My appreciation goes to the following for being a part of my success story:
@Mudicua Thanks for reviewing my proposed transcript here. Your suggestions worked in no small measure. I really appreciate. Wish you success in your career.
@Shawarma Queen of queens. This lady and her humorous sense ehn! I hope you remember this line: I wish you all the best and I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. You were the one pursuing me upandan with your transcript Well, you didn't hurt my feelings in any way. I asked for unalloyed review of my transcript, and you gave just that. I really appreciate because your comments made me return to my drawing table. Wish you success in all your endeavors.
Lastly, but not in anyway the least, @fairheart This King of Queen Shawarma... Hmm... I don't even know where or how to start appreciating you. Like it's usually said in my local parlance, "tí mo bá ní kí n ṣe àdúrà, epe má jabọ́". What a down-to-earth man you are! I really appreciate your efforts and words of encouragement. May you continue to soar higher and higher in life. Thank you a trillion times.
Finally, my NL people. Thanks for everything. Your comments, answers to questions, etc have really been helpful. May we all continue to break grounds in our future endeavors!
To those with upcoming interviews, I wish you a seamless experience with positive outcome.
Will drop my transcript once I get my passport.

Pepperoni001: Thank You sharwama.
The VO gave me an upper cut and got me lost, I lost it under tension and pressure. I fumbled, and it was all my fault. I will be going there prepared
It's what VO's do, it's what they are good at. But what they'd never tell you is; in Nigeria(where applications are so numerous) VOs are equally under pressure to make the right call, I mean they have to make a very important decision in few minutes by relying on information provided and their highly groomed sense of judgement. It's not easy for them either. Yet, I was coached to bounce back the pressure, give it right back to the VO with 100% confidence, I need visa, not pressure, so puhleeze keep it At the end of the day, when you go back there, please remember, BLACK don't CRACK and you my friend, are black May the force be with you! 10 Likes 1 Share |

My problem is this, i applied to a community college, their tuition and other expenses are compatible with me, my preferred course of study is Information Technology, from the posts i've been reading on this thread, getting an F1 through a community college seems impossible, cos they V.O might see it as desperation to be in the states, some persons said they V O's don't take such applicants serious, most people say community colleges are red flagged whats your take on this Worthy to note, the program runs for 2 years in which i'll be required to transfer to an associatr university and there's a better chance for me to be financially aided. Pepperoni001: Dear People,
Interview: 12the July Location: Lagos consulate Status: Denied
My profile GPA 3.18/4, GRE: 289 Bsc.: Food Science and Technology. Working experience: I have been working since 2015. Intended Msc.: Sustainable Energy.
I was interviewed by a black American in his mid 60's at window one.
The below transpired
V.O: Pass me your passport and I-20 Me: I obliged
V.O: Types for forever Me: I was just wondering.
V.O: After 5 mins , the old man decided to talk. He asked when did you finish high school? Me: *2007*
VO: When did you finish your Bsc. Me: 2015
VO: Since then what have you been doing? Me: I have been working
VO: Why are you just going for your Msc. Me: At my present place of work, I signed a bond that wont allow me leave my new job role for 18 months after employment and the bond just expired few weeks ago.
VO: I can see your tuition is a lot of money, about 25k.
Me: My Tuition isn't 25k, my tuition is just 15K and my living expenses is 10k that sums it up to the 25k
VO: That's a lot, who will pay it.
Me: That's affordable and my dad is the one paying the bills
VO: What does he do? Me: He's a prof of Law at Bleep school and he's also into clearing and forwarding.
VO: You are not qualified.
Thinking I should re write GRE and aim 300+ and apply to schools that are generous with funding.
What do you think? Hey Fada! You people should shift, I just want to cry. My chest is paining me. I am really sorry about your denial but these responses were not what we talked about during our mock and transcript review na. Shebi we agreed we won't tell the VO anything that can implicate us? Which one is you couldn't leave your job for 18 months? As in was this response not for. "why are you not going with your wife" or something? And then you were saying tuition is just $15k, that's like 5.4 million naira, then total, 9 million naira, in a country where about 98million citizens are poverty stricken and can barely feed? You really sounded cocky and it's not even your money ooo, na your papa go pay am! If it was affordable, why you no sponsor yourself? Okay, what have you been doing since, shebi I told you how your response to this question ought to be. What happened sir, was it pressure? You can take GRE again and get good funding to reduce cost, yes. However, at the end of the day, you still need to convince the VO that you are worthy and deserving of this visa, with or without funding. 10 Likes |

Okeyogwo: Visa approved at the Abuja Consulate.
After my first refusal 2months ago I decided to bounce back on the 9th of July. That morning I woke up as early as 3am to do my final rehearsals and after that as at 8am I was at the embassy. I was kabashing and praying seriously.
After the necessary checking in it then got to the interview proper. I stood at the queue for a long time only to observe a young man who was dishing the rejection paper any how. I was just praying not to go to that window. But I was unfortunate that this man who has denied 4 persons in my presence was where I was directed for my interview. At this point I took a deep breath and said if I perish I perish.
With full courage I was so bold to work up to him and the following conversation transpired.
Me: Good morning Vo: Good morning, I love your attire, you look good
Me: I was so shocked and I bluntly altered thank you sir
Vo: i can see you are going to Pvamu, why are you going to the US
Me: Am going for a Masters in Engineering with concentration in Civil Engineering.
Vo: Have you been to the US before
Me: No sir, I have not had reasons to even travel out of Nigeria before.
Vo: how many schools did you apply aside from Pvamu?
Me: 3 more sir, and I mentioned the names of the others schools
Vo; who will be paying your bills
Me: My aunt will be taking care of that and also my mother will also add an additional assistance.
Vo: what's your father's name
Me: Mr Bleep
Vo; where does your aunt and mum stay
Me: my aunt stays in Bleep, as a matter of fact I stay with her and I shuttle to work from her home and my mum resides in yyy
Vo: where do the both of them work.
Me: I mentioned my aunt's and mum's work place immediately.
Vo; can I have their bank statements, I did that immediately and he flipped through it and said that he will keep this documents for further perusal and if found forged you will be banned from entering US, should I proceed.
Me: yes sir, with all pleasure you can go ahead and clarify the documents sir.
Vo: OK congratulations on your visa, but you will be placed on AP for sometime, should I still go ahead with checking this documents, I know you understand what it means to be banned
Me: this time I was firm in my response and said yes
He immediately handed the white paper to me and a yellow paper indicating that am place on Administrative processing and I left happily.
Just this morning my status has changed online from AP to ISSUED
please my people for me I feel an interview at the embassy is not even by how you prepare or your answers, but it is all by GOD'S GRACE and nothing else. We must have to pray that God should favour us anytime we are appearing there. If you had read well I wasn't even asked all those technical question they normally ask. It was just smooth and easy.
I give God all the glory Congratulations to you. 1 Like |

I didn't hear the rest oo.. I screamed thank you Jesus in the hall as I ran out.. And everyone said congratulations.
Thanks so much Time2win, Sharwama, Fairheart, deyemzy, allylic, Brown2green, Kashogi, yuscodguy, and others. I appreciate big sis Lagosismyhome and imperiouxx, all their old posts i read and i was encouraged.
Never give up. Delay is not permanent. Give it one more push. You deserve it. Apply to good schools. Don't use agents. Be consistent with your information. Write GRE, try to get funding at least. The sky is just the starting point. Love y'all. Congratulations Queen, I'm super proud of you. 2 Likes |

orimahspence:
Visa approved !! @ the 6th attempt
My Nairaland experience has been quite an eventful one because I was blessed, for no significant effort of mine, to meet certain people. It actually sounds a bit weird, to say that people I've never met in real life (except here) have made more impact in my adult life than some I know in real life. There are certain things I crave, and few people there are who have it and graciously give. The list is a bit long, but I'll mention just two of them here. It is important to particularly mention these two, because it is the thought of them that makes me feel I might be missing (and losing) somethings if I get too busy to check this thread These two and few others inspire me more than anyone else here, and that is not to say that I do not appreciate the input of others . I certainly do not agree with everything these three people write about, but none of them has ever failed in that peculiar area in which they inspire me. These are people who have a healthy and profound thought pattern. They all know what they want to say, and they know how to say it. Almost always, I'm awed by the advices and transcripts vets
Sharwama; I had my first mock interview with this Queen , I did terribly bad in the mock but not without lessons and counseling at the end, both of which influence my approval in huge measure. Sharwama thinks too deeply, and lets her fingers take the depth of her mind deeper when she writes. You think you understand what she wrote, but you'll understand her better if you read again, slowly. She makes you laugh, while savouring some hard truths. She is the greatest, in my opinion, when it comes to satire. Sharwama will make you take pain with a smile on your face. How she thrusts a dagger through a person's chest with her words without failing to give onlookers a viewing pleasure, is a lesson I'm still struggling to grasp. Dear queen , may the force always be with you
Fairheart ; Oga took it from where the queen stopped , mock every 2days , correction upon corrections . @fairheart, Sincerely, English language obscures the awesomeness of some people, the best words only make a mockery of their virtues. This is why it is difficult to write words to properly convey the true feelings of gratitude in my heart for the blessing you have been to me
Suffice it to say that I holds nothing but reverence for you and all that you represent
Thank you for being such a huge blessing. Your love for God is enviable. For all the sunshine and laughter you bring, God bless you.
To you duo, May your kindness always be rewarded in thousands of folds. May your selflessness always return blessings to you in larger measures.
Lagosismyhome, time2win, Pedestals, This is a toast to all of you and others who give freely the richness of your minds. Every intelligent commentary is a product of mental work, including deep thinking, experience and past voracious reading. I learn daily from you all and I'm grateful. You may not understand how scarce and costly a robust thread like this is , until you visit some threads. Visit some threads and read your fellow youth--Nigerians, graduates. Read those threads and encounter the boldness of ignorance and its democratic spread among a large swathe of the youth space. You may return realising you're not entirely useless and foolish as you thought. You may realise that, by attracting brilliant associations, you may yet have substance in that big head of yours. A toast to my people here, young and old, rich and poor, foolish and wise--for in the end really, each group helps the other to find balance. And because we all switch from one group to the other at different times, the joke is on all of us! Transcript anytime soon.... You are a great part of my success story, a great part of my support system and I am so glad I could do and be the same to you. Congratulations and cheers to meeting in TN 2 Likes |

shoyoyebiodun: Delay visa transcript Lagos emmbassy where did i miss it
Vo- how many school did you apply to Me-3 apsu, murray state, witchta
Vo- how many admit Me- all
Vo- any standardized test Me- Gre
Vo- your score Me- 304
Vo- why apsu Me- i choose this school because they offer broad course in mathematical finance and I'm currently interested in the current research going by dr. Vajira cut me off
Vo- what year you finish your degree Me- 2012
Vo- what have you been doing Me- i went one year compulsory service after which i got a job with *** where i work 3 and half year as a cahier before joining my current company **** in 2017 as a pension fund administrator
Vo- have you been denied a visa in the last 5years Me- i was denied a canada visa last year
Vo- where do you intend to go in canada then Me- montreal for a conference
Vo- good, what will you do after graduation Me-i will be coming back to nigeria to work with national pension commission so that i can harness my creative energy towards solving the problem of delay or non-payment in our retiree gratuity and pension
Vo- sorry bla bla bla
Fairheart LagosismyHome predstan Time2win I am really sorry about your denial my friend. I know you didn't ask for my opinion but I care about you enough to point few things out. First, I can't explain why you didn't get an approval, I am not the VO that interviewed you but I can see areas you could have done better. Bold one: APSU isn't the only school that offers "broad" course in Mathematical finance and you know it! Choosing a school because of a professor's research is no longer a powerful reason, because a lot of persons have abused it and VOs are getting bored. Predstan and I were "acting drama" the other day and as a "VO" I mentioned that apart from funding and research, some people don't have better reasons why they picked a school. You have to do thorough research on your school and program and come up with a better response. Bold 2: You currently work as a pension fund administrator? Let's keep that in mind as we proceed. Bold three: I have said it before and I will say it again. Your post graduation plan has to be about you first, keep Nigeria out of it. Nigeria doesn't care about you, Nigeria probably doesn't know you exist. Nigeria has failed you! Don't say you are coming to contribute quota kini, did Nigeria ask you to do that? Understand where I am coming from please. Be self centered in your response, when you bag this degree, what are the doors you intend to walk through that you couldn't have access to in the past, what's in it for you! Keep in mind that by becoming a better version of yourself, you indirectly make Nigeria a better place It's a win win . Ok before I get carried away. You currently work as a pension fund administrator, you are already in the system , you are in a good place to champion the changes you seek. You can start from the man in the mirror like Michael Jackson , you can start from social media platforms. Yes, you don't need this degree to do that! It's highly unbelievable that you will spend millions of naira because you want to " harness your creative energy towards solving the problem of delay or non-payment in our retiree gratuity and pension" This is also not enough reason to come home, where is your home tie? Bottom line: Your responses in Sharwama's opinion were not convincing enough. In future, I hope you can do better. I wish you well my friend. 10 Likes |

If you dedicate just two hours to intensively read visa transcripts(approved and denied), your transcript will improve by fire by force today today Nobody can tell your story better than you, do your homework, come up with responses for ALL the possible questions and then you can ask for help. You have so many uncertainties ("not sures" ) in your transcript and that's not a good vibe. You need to believe in yourself, stop doubting yourself. Without confidence, a good transcript is NOTHING. 2 Likes |
