Lizz58:
Good evening everyone. Please, this is my proposed interview transcript. I am very open to corrections:

V.O- Good morning
ME- Good morning

V.O- Why did you choose this school?
Me- I chose this school because their history program focuses mainly on research and I will also get to conduct research in database, government documents, and archives. I will also get to develop historical arguments which will help in shaping my career.

V.O- Why history?
ME- Over the past few years, I have had a dare interest in studying and practicing law due to the level of injustice, social imbalance and violation of citizens' right in Nigeria. Obtaining a masters degree in history will help me develop skills that are highly valuable in the legal world, as lawyers need to develop arguments based on historical data and have to be able to analyze large amounts of information and find the flaws in it. As an history student, I will spend a lot of time learning and doing just that, thus helping me to shape my career better and also help me get into law school when I return to Nigeria.

V.O- You have a bachelor's degree in international relations, why the switch?
ME- It is not necessarily a switch. My undergraduate curriculum has extensively helped in building a foundational knowledge which I am optimistic would be instrumental and have an inpact in my graduate studies and career as a whole.

V.O- Who is your sponsor?
ME- My mother.

V.O- What does she do?
ME- She is one of the major distributors of ***** and also she also has different stores where she sells *****, she is a major distributor for ****

V.O- What have you been doing since you graduated in 2016?
ME- After my graduation, I went for my one-year mandatory youth service where I teached government in a secondary school in kwara and later worked as an assistant to the director general of service in Oke-aro local government, Ogun state after my redeployment from kwara.

V.O- What do you plan to do after your masters?
ME- After my masters, I will return back to Nigeria to enroll in the Nigerian law school bar part1 programme at Abuja, so I can fulfil my main goal of becoming a practicing lawyer.

V.O- Why U.S.?
ME- America has a well-developed education system and the universities there are widely known for the quality of their research which I am more interested in, unlike Nigeria where our education system is still developing, studying in the U.S. will help me obtain the required skills and knowledge for the kind of impactful career that I intend to build.

V.O- What do you do now?
ME- I am currently in an ongoing language school program, learning a third language, German.

Please I am very open to corrections@lagosismyhome@Brown2green@fairheart@sharwama
THANK YOU.
Thank you so much for the mention. Sadly, I am STEM inclined and I can't be of great help to you. I care about you enough to draw your attention to this:
You didn't "teached" government, you taught Government.
I really wish I could do more for you my friend. I wish you the very best. May the force be with you!

VISA APPROVED

Location: Abuja
Date: 17th, July 2019
VO: Young white american lady
Level: Undergraduate.

It was very scary because, she had rejected the undergraduate guy in my front.

VO: How are you. Your I-20 and passport pls.

Me: Good morning, (she answered and started to type).

VO: Have you travelled a before?

Me: No I have not.

VO: Where are you going to?

Me: I will be going to pursue my undergraduate degree in Psychology at PSC.

VO: Good, so why this school, PSC?

Me: PSC gave me the best scholarship and offer, in the sense that I was offered the Full Tuition and Fees scholarship which covers bulk of my expenses..(she cuts me and said)...

VO: Sorry what is the student size of your school..(I said over a thousand, then she said) because I have not heard about it before, how many school did you apply to? (I said over 9, accepted to about 8 )...
...so go on, why this school?..

Me: Apart from the scholarship, I was placed on the Honors Academy, which exposed me to a more rigorous and challenging academic curriculum (by this time, I was already shaky in ny voice, fear hold me as she was typing fast)...the Honors Academy also will assigned me a Professor and an Excelling Senior in my major to guide me through undergraduate research and opportunities..

VO: (She started to type for a long time, maybe bcoz I talked much)...So who will be sponsoring your education??

Me: I got the Full scholarship and my uncle and aunt will be taking care of the additional cost (I was already talking a little scared with shaky, but very loud voice)..

VO: Do you have a bank statement with you?

Me: Yes, I gave it to her and she perused through it..

VO: (Started to type for long again)...So how did you get the scholarship?

Me: It is a merit based scholarship based on academic achievement, leadership promises, personal statement essays and voluntary experience...it was demonstrated by my SAT score of 1280 and 3.8 GPA.. (my voice scattered small, but she was just typing)...

VO: (looked at her laptop screen for long, I think because I wrote a very long and detailed explanation on what I have been doing and she started to type again for long)...
So what have you been doing since, what is your work experience?

Me: (talked scattered here, but very loud and bold)...I volunteered with a mental health organization which
provided services for people with mental health issues..and also advocate that those persons enjoy same economic and educational opportunities as everyone else...(she cuts me by saying okay..)..

VO: So what are your after graduation plans?

Me: I will come back for my NYSC to take up an academic research job in an health institution to help develop Psychology as a standard major and also contribute to the mental health segment in Nigeria.....

VO: Do you have any family in the US.?

Me: Yes, a distant relative.

VO: looks at her computer, types for a very long time..(meanwhile I was looking at the Green and White slips, scared of what next)...
Gathered my documents and brings out a white slip, do well to pick up your visa in 3 working days ..

Me: (I was deaf in the later part of the statement)...Thank you ma, have a nice day...

Special thanks to all those who have made it a point of duty to contribute to making this thread a sucess. I have not contributed much, but I have been a silent follower of the thread since Part 7 (I think I started to read from part 7 to 15th, haha)..
Ms. Sharwama, sorry I did not call back that night. I did not have airtime, but I can call you now. grin

Mr Fairheart, I can not complete my story without adding how immensely you stood not only for me, but the other sucess stories we have recorded. God bless you sir.

Good Morning House, My Interview is schedule for 2nd August and below is my transcript for Error corrections. Your comments will be very appreciated.

How did you get to know about St Cloud State University?
It was recommended to me by my Lecturer and Mentor (Prof. Malgwi) in the University
Why St Cloud State University
What attracted me to the institution is my interest in cyber security. I read about the profile of one of the professor in my field of interest named Professor Denis Guste who is a renounced Professor and is present research project is my research focus (Analysis of Cyber security and its economic effect).
Moreover, the professor has notified me on the advanced scientific computing facilities available to enhance data integration of what have learnt in the industry to the academic research environment. Also St Cloud University is known has one of the best in Technology in the whole of Minnesota.
Some of the courses includes: cyber security, system security, biometric security, facility security, database security and reliability, networking and advance data communication etc
.
Why the Courses
Learning every day is one of the essential ingredients to greater achievement of one’s career goals. I believe the program will certainly help me with my career objectives ‘Spread Beyond Borders’. In addition, the course would equip me with relevant skills and modern techniques such as neural network and machine learning to the application of cyber security that I can apply to solve multifaceted/complex problems in my work place.
How did you get the Scholarship
Through the Statement of Purpose I wrote and the evaluation of my Credentials Couple with my GRE Result.
Tell me your study plan?
I will be doing a total credit of 33 credit unit in 24 months after which I will return to Nigeria to continue my job.
Tell me about cybersecurity at St Cloud State University
Some of the courses includes: cyber security, system security, biometric security, facility security, database security and reliability, networking and advance data communication etc.
Amongst those mentioned courses, which of them is of more interest to you?...and why?
Cyber security and System security. Because as a System and Network Engineer, it forms the major part of my job
What have you been doing ever since?
I have been working as a System and Network Engineer at New Horizon Computer Institute after my NYSC, responsible in setting up internet network for the company, troubleshooting and fixing issues with LAN(Local Area Network), repairing of faulty computers.
How will your certificate help your career?
At present am working at the ICT department of New Horizon as a Network Engineer, a Master’s degree at this time will equip me on the technical and business skills that i needed to create, plan and build a secure and scalable network. This degree also will elevate me in my place of work and make me a better cyber security professional and a good network architect. It will also give me room to apply for jobs in top IT companies in Nigeria.
What will you do after you graduate?
After my degree, I will return to Nigeria to take up a Lecturing position at the Army University, BIU has a Computer Analyst which my Mentor who is the present Vice Chancellor has encouraged me more on the openings in the University after my program in the United States. Also I will set up an IT firm where i can tutor Nigerians who have passion for cybersecurity.
Who's your sponsor:
My mum and my Uncle who is bent on supporting her both gave me their Statement of Account
What does she do?
She is a successful business woman who is major distributor of Dangote products and also my Uncle who is a Zonal Manager at Unilever Nig. plc..
I'm not sure how I feel about your responses, I don't even know where to begin, my chest is paining me grin
Okay let's do it this way.
Did your professor really recommend this school? What if your professor didn't, would you have known about the school any way? would you have applied without his recommendation, did you apply simply because your professor recommended it?
Is this the only school you applied to, did your professor recommend the other schools too?
I'm showing you something, I pray you see it grin
Why this school
I'm not comfortable with this professor stuff and I have been singing it. If you are a VO and over 20 persons on a daily basis tell you they picked a school because of a professor or his research interest, how will you feel? Won't you be bored?
Some VOs now cut you off the moment you mention professor.... That's not the goal, the goal is to make the VO listen with rapt attention by sharing outstanding information, the goal is to converse and IMPRESS the VO and walk away with a smile!
So find out why your school stands out amongst the rest, every school has a wow factor but some persons are lazy to do the work to find it. Your department/program has a wow factor as well. Find it please. I didn't say choosing a school because of a professor's research interest is bad ooo.
Just don't begin your response with professor kini, I beg you! In all, make sure you have at least THREE sound reasons for school choice.
Hey Fada!
You are not a serious somebody ooo, see how you want shoot yourself grin. There's so much conflict in your subsequent responses, infact your responses cancel each other like physics equations grin
Let me show you.

Okay, we understand you intend to return to your company and be more productive, we appreciate that, we love you for that grin
It will also give me room to apply for jobs in top IT companies in Nigeria.
Suddenly, you feel you need this degree to apply for more jobs, that means you have no job satisfaction and you probably don't truly intend returning to your place of work after bagging this degree. You have lost your home tie, you have contradicted yourself it is finished! Do you even have a study leave or something?
Oya let me show the baba of them all grin
After my degree, I will return to Nigeria to take up a Lecturing position at the Army University, BIU has a Computer Analyst which my Mentor who is the present Vice Chancellor has encouraged me more on the openings in the University after my program in the United States. Also I will set up an IT firm where i can tutor Nigerians who have passion for cybersecurity.
If I was a VO, I will automatically deny you. You are a not a good liar grin
Please don't get me wrong, I am not insulting you, I am showing you how unconvincing and unsynergized your responses are. I mean do you see what I see?
Your post graduation plans are neither clear nor specific, they have to be!
Oya see another one:
My mum and my Uncle who is bent on supporting her both gave me their Statement of Account
What do you mean by he is "bent on"
I mean it could be interpreted in different ways.
Also, what do you mean by they both gave you their statement of account? To do what kwanu? Someone can give you SOA, I can give you my SOA but my money, nah, forget it! Do you get it now?
There are certain sentences you shouldn't make before a VO especially the ones that can make the VO think too many things like you are making me think now.
In fact to me, you are a potential immigrant and a threat to national security grin grin grin
Trump recently neutralised an Iranian drone, don't let the VO do that to you please grin
Your duty is to proof you are a genuine student who is passionate about personal growth and career advancement.
Meanwhile, your study plan is not complete, it is too short and lacks some vital information.
Ultimately, please work on the entire transcript and anticipate more questions.
I wish you well my friend, may the force be with you!

That why females will always be looked at a sexual object... it starts from the way we carry ourselves or allow others to address us or see us ... . All this talk about likes, tripping , nice voice, my king .... There more to life and our value than all that .
It kinda breaks my heart knowing you wrote this coz I respect you a lot, you are my mentor. I just think you have a different perspective.
You don't have to like the drama, humour or happiness I bring with me or how I roll with the guys, make people warm up to me or something. That's why I am me, I am allowed to be ME and I won't change for any reason.
If other females are considered as sexual objects or something trifling, well I am not and I have never tolerated disrespect. I know where to draw the line.
Maybe you are having a bad day, that's okay. You will be fine and you will always have my utmost respect ma'am.

Hello gurus in the house, pls I need your expertise on what should be the contents of my email because I want to begin romancing Profs for funding.

FALL 2020
Romanus abi romancer grin grin grin
Since you mentioned funding, I figured it's a PhD or Masters. I stand to be corrected.
1) Expect to be ignored! Some professors are so unromantic, no matter how sexy and seductive your emails are, no greenlight for you, konji wee finish you Romanus grin grin grin
2) Make sure your mail has a good subject. If the subject is horrible, it's a huge turn off. The subject should be precise, strike the balls!
3) Be polite and formal. Begin with Dear Professor Sharwama, not Dear Sir/Madam!
Don't exchange pleasantries grin
Introduce yourself briefly in the first paragraph, sell yourself in 2-3 sentences. Make it clear you are from Nigeria not Africa grin grin grin
2nd Paragraph
Recognise and indicate interest in the professor's research, talk about a recent work that captivated your interest, give brief specifics, say what you need. Make sure you have an indepth knowledge of the professor's recent publications.
THIRD PARAGRAPH
One sentence, reaffirm how much his or her mentorship would mean to you or something, indicate willingness to provide additional information, Thank the professor and anticipate a response.
4) Conclude with Sincerely or Respectfully, then your name. Remember to use a comma if your surname comes first. Please don't use "cheers", don't use "best regards", don't use "regards". I am not a professor but I find them disrespectful and inappropriate especially in a request email or when seeking for something. I will not answer you with my church mind again again, regards kee you dia gringrin grin
5) Make sure your CV and transcripts and test scores are ready but do not attach them to the mail. If a Professor needs more information, provide upon request only.
6) Prepare for Skype or video kini interview. Make sure you schedule it when it's appropriate for you and the professor. Make sure you have done thorough research on the professor's research interest and publications, so you can have something to chat about, apart from your own research experience and career goals.
Hey Fada!
I remember skyping with my potential supervisor in April, it felt so amazing. I fell in love with his smile and jerry curl grin grin grin
He didn't think I knew a lot about his research, so when I started talking about some recent publications and asking questions that his findings didn't really answer, he just told me on the spot
"I don't know the answers to your questions, so how about we find out together when you come over" That's how I got a lab and a thesis topic on the spot. Yes, I loved it grin
So when other professors started reaching out to me, it was too late, I was taken grin grin grin
See why I told the VO I already built a great student-faculty relationship with my potential supervisor grin grin grin
There's a message in this story, if it's for you, take it.
I hope you or someone else finds this helpful.

I think it's not nice for you to address me as chicken sharwama. I am Queen Sharwama, the first and last of my kind. Please avoid me.

Thank you sharwama. Do you know the cheapest way to get to JC?
I don't know what your definition of "cheapest" is but I think this should be affordable
LOS to NYC by flight
NYC to JC by bus (about 10hrs or more) I have attached the link below for you. Bus fare should be about $60 or thereabout.
