Look at what I posted, I even indicated the question mark, because I know some peoples brain is still in the formative stage, and cognitive abilities vary. Then look at your response.

Now tell me are you part of those that have brain leakages?

The same company that was built with a part of our FX at a discounted rate?
Is that that company you are talking about.. Same company Nigeria has a stake in?
Same company that is meant to provide major employment for Nigerians after our investment in it?
Are you for or against my argument?

I don’t even know if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me.

Probably more a skill shortage thing, and say Dangote no really send anybody papa, and going the Indian route is the way he believes he can run his business efficiently...he isn't interested in "gambling" with local talent.

Besides, there are several businesses running in the country with wholly Nigerian staffs, and dem neva die. You're a Nigerian yourself, and likely employed in Nigeria, so...
Exactly.

It’s a capitalist world, all my decisions is about maximising profit. We are not running a Keynesian economic model here.

This question is best directed at Jagabandits like OasisX who've been celebrating the refinery (a privately owned business BTW) as a win for the APC and by extension Buhari/BAT, talking about how it will reduce the price of fuel this year and provide jobs for Nigerians...both of which have now been shown to be audio benefits.
So are you saying a 21 Billion dollar Refinery, the largest industrial project on the African continent is bad for Nigeria?

On the refinery reducing the cost of PMS, that’s negligible, it’ll probably only shave off like 30 Naira from imported PMS.

I’m just trying to understand your thought process, you don’t think the refinery is a plus to the Nigerian economy?

Dangote and a large number of industrial employers of labour have a preference for indians in management. Apparently Nigerians have golden goose greed - ie Nigerians are content to kill the golden goose that pays their livelihood (Rob the company to death) rather than sustainable stealing.

Then there is an unfortunate competence /work ethic issue
I know about the preference for Indian workers.

I’m just wondering why they are using the news to mock the administration.

Wetin concern Tinubu with Dangote company management?

Is there any recommended link where i can read up on this?

Especially about Mao
The man is a very controversial figure.

Most book written about him are not balanced because of the heavy propaganda from the west infused.

If you want to get a balanced view read from two sources, west and east. Though you might need a translation for the east book if you don’t understand Chinese.

Try this

Mao Tse-tung and the Chinese People
By Roger Howard

Mao: The Unknown Story" by Jung Chang and Jon Halliday.

You can also try this.

https://m.douban.com/book/subject/20394862/

It’s in Chinese but you can translate to English.

Does it speak volumes on "technocracy"huh?

Does it align with the "wow" you subscribed forhuh

"100 days in office"........was supposed to be 100 days of joy,not 100 days to have hope..

Please bro...let forget about short sightedness for the now ..

.
What problem do you have with the list?

Is there anyone you feel should not be among let’s discuss.

I haven’t really critique the list though, cos I’m waiting for the ministers portfolio to be unveiled.

It look stupid to be arguing over the ministerial list when I don’t even know the ministry they will be heading.

It did not. The great leap forward was a quantum leap backwards in real life. An unqualified disaster. It was Deng Xiaoping's reforms which laid the foundation for modern China, and he had to force out and silence Mao's successors to carry the reforms out.
Understand my notion better, I’m not trying to be seen as a Mao supporter.

But without mao, there won’t be anything like China Today.

And that’s a fact.

The Great Leap Forward( A terrible policy), no matter how much you hate it is still responsible for the strong Rural-Community-cohesion you are seeing in China today, it’s still responsible for the huge improvement of their education sector, the whole of Chinese transliteration you are using and seeing today is a direct beneficiary of that policy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Shaytun:
nihilistjnr:
No it didn't. It destroyed China and the Chinese Economy. Every other communist government that tried to implement accelerated sel-reliance and industrialisation policies based on forced communal labour also failed woefully- from the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia who were directly funded by Chairman Mao to the Stalin-led USSR which had also woefully failed implanting the 5 year plan a couple of decades earlier, directly influencing Mao.

The only communist government that came close to achieving some success with this strategy was thr Envar Hoxha-led Albania in the late 50s and early 60s.

It's instructive that both Chairman Mao and Josef Stalins successors in Deng Xioping and Nikita Khruschev respectively were quick to publivly denounce their previous bosses, almost immediately sef, and implement policies that distinctly capitalist in nature to invite investment and repudiate the repressiveness of the old regime.

Khruchev in particular was so committed to a departure from the stalinist ideology that had in part influenced Maos great leap forward, that he was fired from thr politburo, but by then the damage had been done, and then Gorbachev his successor, presided over the eventual demise of Soviet Russia.

Do some reading into the Boluan Fanzheng policies launched by Deng Xioping to see how China became the economic and industrial powerhouse we know today.
I probably should have worded my statement better.

I don’t want to be seen as a communist defender.

What I meant by “laid foundation” was mao was responsible for revolutionising the Primary education of China, built a Great Rural cohesion that has continue to serve China till this very day, his policies re-United a fractured country and instill a sense of national pride.

He basically built what is known as “China” today, heck he simplified their Chinese language, introduce piyin. Most of the Chinese Language characters you are seeing today is because of him.

I do hate the man, but I’m not going to deny that he chased the impearilist out of China, and eradicated the feudal practices, created the political system being used in the country. Founded the CCP.

His policies built the country political structure that is still being used till today, created mass education fro the peasants. This same peasants are now the bedrock of the Chinese economy.

Deng xioping open up the economy, but they wouldn’t have been any economy to open up if not for mao.

So when I said his policies “Laid foundation” for modern China. I am absolutely correct.

And yes he was a terrible person and his policies resulted in millions of death of people, but his policies also laid the foundation for the China you are seeing today, Economically, Politically e.t.c. Both truth are not mutually exclusives.

This hike — now the 11th interest rate increase since March 2022 — will correspond with a rise in the prime rate and immediately send financing costs higher for many forms of consumer borrowing, putting more pressure on households in hopes of side stepping a possible recession.

Lol. Arguing with most people is when you will know that majority of Nigerians, even the (subsidised) educated “elite” are economically ignorant.

I was arguing with someone recently and he was telling me he want Unilag and other Tier 1 federal universities to be globally competitive whilst still retaining their subsidies fee of 19k naira per session.

I ask him just what miracle he expect government to do to achieve that and he start parroting nonsense argument.

Give me I&E window then and now.
Give me black market rate then and now
I should give you what you know?

You don’t know the official market rate and the black market rate during Buhari era?

The same I & E windows before the floating of the Naira that was averaging $30M transaction for both buying and selling in a day is where people are getting their dollar, you must be joking.

Even big multinational companies like airlines where finding it hard to get dollar from I and E not to talk of small players.

We aren't importing Pepsi from US so how do you expect the cost to be high for a locally produced drink? Whatever they decide to sell theirs shouldn't determine what we sell ours as long we aren't importing them.

The purchasing power of Naira is weakening because it still revolves around dollar. Your country is largely dependent on imported goods, so how do you expect to buy things easier when your currency is being devalued?

Can you buy imported goods today the same price as last year? Why is that so if not for the rise of dollar.

I hope you wont be updating us on I$E windows again since dolla doesn't influence our everyday transactions here.

Oga, the purchasing price of Naira weakened because of inflation, the floating of the Naira didn’t have much to do with with Naira purchasing power weakening.

I will update you about the the I&E window, because the Naira floating is a policy I’m happy about, you can’t have 2 exchange market and expect economic progress.

It all boils down to the dollars. You gave example using Korea.

What's the minimum wage of South Korea per hour?
What the minimum wage of US per hour?

I just pray prices of things doesn't increase in the coming days/ months. Then you will know that dollars affect your purchasing power. I rest my case here.

When importers bring gadgets like phones and the rest and start telling you how much be exchange rate na that time you go know what's up.
Price of things increasing is not because of dollars, it’s because of the supply of money in the system.

That 37T emefiele printed is what is haunting our inflation figures.

Lmao, you think importers bringing phone gadget were accessing Dollars when it was 400? Lol.
