It did not. The great leap forward was a quantum leap backwards in real life. An unqualified disaster. It was Deng Xiaoping's reforms which laid the foundation for modern China, and he had to force out and silence Mao's successors to carry the reforms out.

No it didn't. It destroyed China and the Chinese Economy. Every other communist government that tried to implement accelerated sel-reliance and industrialisation policies based on forced communal labour also failed woefully- from the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia who were directly funded by Chairman Mao to the Stalin-led USSR which had also woefully failed implanting the 5 year plan a couple of decades earlier, directly influencing Mao.

The only communist government that came close to achieving some success with this strategy was thr Envar Hoxha-led Albania in the late 50s and early 60s.

It's instructive that both Chairman Mao and Josef Stalins successors in Deng Xioping and Nikita Khruschev respectively were quick to publivly denounce their previous bosses, almost immediately sef, and implement policies that distinctly capitalist in nature to invite investment and repudiate the repressiveness of the old regime.

Khruchev in particular was so committed to a departure from the stalinist ideology that had in part influenced Maos great leap forward, that he was fired from thr politburo, but by then the damage had been done, and then Gorbachev his successor, presided over the eventual demise of Soviet Russia.

Do some reading into the Boluan Fanzheng policies launched by Deng Xioping to see how China became the economic and industrial powerhouse we know today.

The purchasing power of Naira is weakening because it still revolves around dollar. Your country is largely dependent on imported goods, so how do you expect to buy things easier when your currency is being devalued?

Can you buy imported goods today the same price as last year? Why is that so if not for the rise of dollar.

I hope you wont be updating us on I$E windows again since dolla doesn't influence our everyday transactions here.

I just asked my friend in America via WhatsApp and he told me that the normal nigerian sized bottled Pepsi or coke is not even up to 1 dollar. It's only the ones in much bigger sized bottles that go above 1 dollar and that those sizes are not sold in Nigeria.
