Egypt truly deserve to win. I'll be rooting for them in the final. I was praying for a turn-around in the match against Algeria. But they lost composure. Egypt4, Algeria0. Can Naija ever get such a thorough win against any team?
PoliticsRe: What Has Fashola Really Done? by ShdAde: 9:19pm On Jan 24, 2010
What has he done? I dont reside in lagos but i can say that he has given Nigerians hope. In Fashola, we see a sign of the possibility of something better. In him, we think that maybe, maybe, maybe, things may just get better.

Those asking whether Fashola as done anything to reduce poverty should know this - The needs of the average Nigerian are very simple, you wouldnt believe it. Portable water, electricity, good roads. We just want the government to help with things that may ease our conditions. Nigerians are very industrious people and will find their way. Just provide an enabling environment, which I think is what fashola is doing.

The question of the poster should be what has the federal government done. Because much as we say we operate a federal system, states are still heavily tied to the federal Government. So even when a state Governor is doing his best, he may be hindered by federal forces. Lets decentralize power supply and we'll see what states with visionary governors like Fashola will come up with. Maybe he's over-rated, but we can atleast see changes. Thats what Nigerians are asking for, A CHANGE!
Christianity EtcRe: Ali Yakubov: 9 Month Old Russian Boy With Quran On Body by ShdAde: 12:21pm On Jan 23, 2010
This is interesting. My advise to all muslims is that they should find out facts about things before coming here to decrease their credibility. I am a muslim and ofcourse, the normal thing s to believe this at first sight. However, I have seen pictures of similar things posted by others and ofcourse one begins to question. We should know that to convince people, you need to go te extra mile of knowing more than them. And as someone asked, I also want to know what verses of the quran that is. Not for bad belle purposes, but to kow maybe God was sending a particualr message to us.

Its funny how from mohammad to this Dagestani baby . . . allah's "signs" always seem to involve personal discomfort to the individual bearing the "sign". - Davidylan

David, this one you raised is not a point o . Remeber the pain Jesus Christ wnet through while he was being nailed? It was so much that he asked God why he has forsaken him? Dont even talk about personal discomfort here. Remember Job? While I am not likening this boy to a prophet, you should re-examine points before you raise them.

I advice muslims to be the best whereever they are, seek knowledge, and be very objective.
Christianity EtcRe: Rccg Donates $50,000 To Haiti by ShdAde: 11:52am On Jan 23, 2010
The donation is indeed a welcomed one and those suffering in Haiti would appreciate that. Whether it is hypocritical shouldnt be an issue. It gives people an avenue to help those people. I would love to help but theres no available channel nearby to do that.

Although, one is tempted to ask why it is being publicised. I havent heard of such news of RCCG helping Niger Deltans or maybe the news isnt publicised. maybe they are making such contributions in their parishes in the ND.Have they donated to those in Jos? I just think people are using this Haiti thing to display acts of being generous. We shouldnt wait for a natural disaster to help people. We should do so everyday, and not necessarily publicly. ANyway, they sha donated. Which one you don do to help?

SportsRe: Africa Nations Cup Angola 2010. The Official Thread by ShdAde: 9:32pm On Jan 17, 2010
Yeah, if only the super eagles would learn from this and stop moving on the field like old men who just finished a lunch of 10 wraps of pounded yam. See the enthusiasm on both sides. Both sides deserved victory because they played till the dying minute. Nobody gave up. Luckily, it was Cameroun's night.
IslamRe: To: Abuzola, Olabowale And Other Comrades by ShdAde: 9:18am On Jan 07, 2010
No religion called muslim. And so because of Farouk, we should become atheists? Ow come on, come up with a better argument. Farouk's action is causing EVERYBODY problems, we are not happy either, so stop whining! And because what we believe in cannot be dimmed by actions of a misguided extremist, we'll keep talking! Save your saliva, your mouth needs it. Byeeeeeeeeee!
Christianity EtcRe: Despicable Act : Jesus Encourage Eating Human Flesh - Bible by ShdAde: 9:39pm On Jan 06, 2010
@Toba, Dont let me begin to think maybe Abu Zola is right for yabbing you at times oh. Whats muslims face the moon to pray? I've never heard of that one o. About the moon determining when we begin to fast, here's it:

A month in the Islamic calendar is the time between two new moons, which is approximately 29 or 30 days, unlike the gregorian calendar with pre-determined number of dates in a month, the moon is our guide, and the movement of the moon is guided by Allah. Allah is  the Lord of the Universe. Ramadan is the 9th month in the Isalmic calendar, the commencement of which is determined by whether a new moon is sighted or not. The only reason why people are more concerned about Ramadan is because they have to fast and would like to know when to commence their fasting, which is a pillar of Isalm.
For the Moon to go from one phase to the next similar phase—as seen from Earth—requires 29 days 12 hours 44 minutes. This period is called a lunar month. The Moon rotates once on its axis in the same period of time that it circles Earth, accounting for the fact that virtually the same portion of the Moon (the “near side”) is always turned toward Earth.

I hope this is clear. We dont worship the moon. Now, dont let me hear your busy body mouth spreading unverified tales o.
Christianity EtcRe: How Christianity Lambast Women by ShdAde: 7:45pm On Jan 05, 2010
@ Toba, I'll like to explain a hadith you seem to enjoy quoting, that one about women being majority of ocuupants of hell. Well, you can decide to wait till you get to hell (I didnt mean that you'll go to hell o because who knows Abu Zola may be able to convince you, and if he doesnt, I'm saying you will o)!!( you may just pay a visit like Prophet Obadare o ) , And take a head count grin( I can imagine the torrents of abusive word I'll get for this).

Seriously, Toba, look around you. Women are engaged in such acts even you would find unbelievable. Its women that dress indecently, its women that are more engaged in pornography, its women that backbit, its women that get envious oftentimes, its women that , I could go on and on. The prophet's words are an admonishion for women to make sure they dont fall. From your post, A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." . Women are capable of that. Lets be honest here. There are some women you would have seen and you would have exclaimed that "awon omo esu yi i". And the women are more than men in the world (who be my source sef?) Doesnt it make sense that they'll be more in hell? Its left for a beleiving woman to work harder. And honestly, women are more deficient than men in religion. Even from churches, we see this deficiency. A woma's faith is easily shaken. Thats why women are more in miracle-producing churches. Open your heart and see the sense in some of your posts( which are meant criticise Islam and muslims) . Its not about winning against Abu Zola. We could learn a thing or two here.
SportsRe: Nigeria Name 24 For Angola 2010 by ShdAde: 7:24am On Jan 05, 2010
Hah ha ha. Did I just laugh? I have learnt ( and it took time)not to hope for too much from the Eagles. That way, I dnt get bothered atall. If Amodu like, make him take player wey old like my papa, or wey heavy from too much eba, na im sabi.
BUt I think his problem is that we dont really have that mush good players again in Nigeria. Unlike Cote'D Ivoire, we dont have players that are doing well for both club and country. So lets just wait and see what they come out with. And our usual lack of preparation will always get us into trouble.
Christianity EtcRe: Between Jesus And Mohammed! by ShdAde: 10:07pm On Jan 04, 2010
@ Igbo boy, its unbecoming of a gentleman to be abusive and I want to assume that you are a gentleman. Words like dumb and olodo arent in any way complimentary. In anycase, you've just displayed the level to which u'll stoop to in an argument. As a thorough-bred I refuse to stoop that low and exchange words with you. To you be your religion and to me be mine.
Christianity EtcRe: Between Jesus And Mohammed! by ShdAde: 11:42am On Jan 03, 2010
Mr Igbo boy! Coming here to ask what a jihadist knows about running a country or the CBN is rather childish. This isnt about naming bad muslims and bad christians cos believe me, we'll only be shooting ourselves. What do the christian governors in ND know bout running a state? They know so much and thats why their people are like that abi? Similarly, the deficiency of the Northern governors nko? Leadership in Nigeria has nothing to do with religion, we've tested both muslim and christian rulers. Its about the charcter of the people, and we are still searching for that person who'll help Nigeria.

What has Muslim communities given the world? Dont be ridiculous. Even the US wouldnt askthat silly question. They have trade partners everywhere. And dont forget crude oil, which is found in abundance in predominantly arab/islamic regions. That (though not of their creation) is a major contribution, except if you've found a way to power engines with water, in which case, the wholw world can then severe all ties with muslim world. Have you heard of the chevy volt? A muslim co-designed that. Someone here has been kind enough to give a list of contribution of muslims to the world.

So, the prophet should fold his hands and watch his people get killed for no other reason than the proclaimed Islam? How's that for common sense? Again, the day you get attacked, just fold your hands and assume a siddon-de-look posture. I asked about the question jesus asked God on the cross (as reported in the bible) I'd like you to answer that.

In Islam, if you are kille because of your belief, you are a matry. If you die while defending yourself against those who attacked you because of you faith, you are also a matyr. (Read carefully, befor you use koni koni igbo twist the mata o!) Take care.
Christianity EtcRe: Between Jesus And Mohammed! by ShdAde: 12:03am On Jan 03, 2010
Igbo Boy!!! Well done and well said. I'm sure in your mind you've won with those words of yours abi? Truly you amuse me. Incase you've forgotten, Jesus, (as reported in the bible) said, 'My God, My God, why art thou forsaken me?' . Maybe I dont have the Holy Spirit in me but even humans arent to speak like that!!!
Now I need an explanation for why the "Son of God" would say that. Muhammed never advocated violence. If you call defending your self violence, then please, the day any fire breaks in your house or a war or something of that nature happens, aged just siddon dey look o. Okay?

Muhammed responsible for backwardness of the world? Pray which world? Is it Muhammed that is responsible for backwardness of Nigeria? Infact define backwardness, maybe then I'll understand your context. Maybe you dont know, but scientific proofs are being discovered about things already said in the Quran. Years before science even said it, Allah, through the Holy Prophet had explained the different stages and events that happen during pregnancy. Keith Moore, (Now, if you are a medical student or a science student that shold ring BELLS) co-authored a book where he dealt extensively on this isue. Unfourtunately, I dont have a site to refer you to. Will get back to you soon.
Christianity EtcRe: Between Jesus And Mohammed! by ShdAde: 6:33pm On Jan 02, 2010
I'm just enjoying myself on this NL. Where I dey since all these days? anyway,Jesus and Muhammad (peace be on them both) are prophets of Allah according to the Quran. To convince me otherwise, you'll need to quote the quran or make me believe in the bible. You cant quote the bible and expect me to believe that. I can as well quote the quran and expect you to believe. This is where ALL those who argue religion miss it. Who says your book is better than mine? Any logical argument should begin with an attempt at establishing the authenticity of our sources. So, before "between jesus and Muhammed" there should be a "between Bible and Quran". Then, we can have a truly objective debate. First point of call would be authorship. Who authored these books?

Christianity EtcRe: Cheque In The Church by ShdAde: 11:36am On Jan 02, 2010
Terrible indee that this sort of thing is happening. It is only because of the economic situation in the country that this is happening. Or pray, why would people who are assured of getting what they deserve at the end of a month need a pastor to pray on their cheque books? The pastors are also capitalizing on the greed of the average Nigerian.

Christianity EtcRe: You Should Be The Change! by ShdAde(op): 11:07am On Jan 02, 2010
@kunle and Toba, the prophet was persecuted. None of the wars he fought were started by him. He peacefully spread his message but pagans continued in acts of persecution against those who believed. He couldn t have sat back and watch his people being killed for no other reason than they were muslims. At some point, muslims had to leave makkah for the unbelievers.

Christianity EtcRe: You Should Be The Change! by ShdAde(op): 8:33am On Jan 02, 2010
@Ednut1, the least you could have been is civil. It is people like you who dont understant the meanings of the word respect and tolerance that incite people. You should know that those who you have abused (the prophet especially) are people we hold in high esteem. we are not even asking you to believe in him. Nobody is forcing anything on you here. Just be civil, as a human being should be. I would expect that in this forum, I would meet intelligent people who remember the age long adage of "think before you talk". You dissapoint me so.
IslamRe: Question For All Muslims by ShdAde: 8:21am On Jan 02, 2010
gombo_s:
If you weren't told that there is hell and paradise would you still worship Allah (swt) the same way?

Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all. Ya Allah forgive us all

Ya Rahman have mercy on us. Ya Rahman have mercy on us. Ya Rahman have mercy on us. Ya Rahman have mercy on us. Ya Rahman have mercy on us. Ya Rahman have mercy on us.
Believe me, everybody who believes in one religion or the other has it at the back of his mind that there is a greater reward out there. Its the human mind, its not about muslims. We all beleive that there is Kingdom of God. Your question should have been addressed to everyone, not just muslims.
IslamRe: Does Allah Actually Exist? by ShdAde: 8:05am On Jan 02, 2010
Jumain Girl, I think the problem you have is with the nomenclature. Allah is the Islamic name for the creator. Are you saying you were not created? well, based on that Allah does exist. On the issue o miracles, I'd say that that is iverrated in christaindom. THe miracles have so much permeated congregations that the only reason people go to churches is because of miracles. I've heard series of adverts of churches inviting people to bring all their life troubles, barreness, unemployment, e.t.c, Should miracles be commercialised as such?

You also talked about speaking in tongues, even you cannot say you sometimes dont doubt the veracity of those who claim to speak in tongues.

Visions? The human mind is very imaginative and creative. Dont be deceived by such visions.

The gift of the holy spirit? Again, I believe thats a cretion of people's imaginative mind, because how do you tell if its the gift or mere act? Believe me, a good orator can convince you of anything.

Islam is a religion based on knowlege. The more you know, the better you are. And it is your knowledge that will make you experience God. We dont need any extraordinary act by some fake lots to make us see that God exists. We believe that everyone can make a connection with God by being pious.
IslamBe The Change! by ShdAde(op): 7:42pm On Jan 01, 2010
This topic was prompted by the attempted bombing of a USA bound aircraft by a muslim. The comments by non-muslims and the religious arguments the issue generated has revealed that there are people walking out there with wrong impressions about Islam and muslims. We should then be the ones to correct any of such misconceptions and wrong perceptions. We should strive to be the best whereever we find ourselves, and putting in mind the fact that we are being watched. Islam means peace, and this peace should emanate from us all. We shouldnt be the ones disturbing the peace. Lets be the ones changing those misconceptions. I feel sad when I hear the things being said about us, as a result of the actions of some misguided few. Be part of those who change the misconceptions. Lets shine the good light of Islam. Let the world see the good of Islam. The world has been bombarded with such bad images of Islam. We can change that picture. Be good whereever you are.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Launches Surveillance Helicopters by ShdAde: 9:31am On Dec 10, 2009
Governor Fashola is a really visionary leader. He is the one I have seen who acts like he had a purpose for running for that office. He is a truly educated man,cos we can see that clearly in his works. Lets hope he is able to do what he is doing 4 lagos 4 Nigeria as a whole. Who says he shouldnt run for presidency in 2011? He stands a very good chance. Party politics shudnt be used to stop him if he shows interest in d numero uno position. He's about the most popular politician. Even my over eighty years old uneducated grandma who stays in a village in oyo state knows bout him. Thumbs up 4 him!
