An army that gets 5 billion dollars per annum, and a police force that gets 1 billion dollars per annum, when it should be getting ten to fifty times that.
Thats effectively $60B-$300B to secure an economy of how much again. Your sense of financial estimation points to the fact that you are likely an Ogboni man who has never worked an honest task in his entire life.

nairalanda1:
On a more serious note, even if the guys were vigilantes, this just goes to show that poor funding of the security forces has unintended consequences.

One thing I like to say is that if you do not pay the full price for power supply to the discos and gencos, you will pay the full price to the solar panel guy, the petrol station and the generator seller and repairer...for good light.

Same thing happening here, only this time, we dey see the failure of the government to fund and keep funding the police. Especially APC.

Yes, it is still tinubu and buhari's fault

In 2015, if Buhari had taken measures like removing subsidy on fuel and subsidy on electricity, and started fighting corruption, by now there would have been enough investment in the country to fix things well and properly. The country would have been rising, and there would have been more jobs by now.

But buhari, and now tinubu do not do long term planning. Also, the tax system is still broken and not yielding enough as it should

And here we are.

An army that gets 5 billion dollars per annum, and a police force that gets 1 billion dollars per annum, when it should be getting ten to fifty times that.

And at the end of the day, all the money used for paying vigilantes, and joint task force, is going to be taken away from other parts of the budget...and some of it would be chopped.

Plus one thing about paying millitias, as soon as the money becomes problematic, today's vigillante is tomorrow's criminal. Yes , goes for AMotekun and ESN or whatever they call themselves now.

We don't have a serious government .

I hope when we vote out APC the next government can do better

@Tenses , good evening, and may God bless you.
I do read your comments on Nairaland and must admit you sound stale and "uninspiringly" repetitive.
If the power companies have making losses or too low a profit yearly, what is atoping them from selling it to another team?
As it stands today, solar can give as low as N26.5/kwhr power if done right. Compare that to what exploitative power co onwers are asking for. They charge around N200/kwhr currently if i am not mistaken(been long i used PHCN).
You can best ve described as an IMF bot on a public forum.

In the simplest English possible, one of the reasons for the creation of the new tax law is to harmonise all other tax laws. There were so many taxes in so many different laws and they decided to put everything in one law. That's all that happened.

They are not imposing a new petrol tax and they are not implementing the old one. What the government has been talking about is reintroducing the toll plazas, not petrol tax.

Tinubu’s government to reintroduce toll gates on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, second Niger Bridge and others

Says a known govt asslicker.

After harmonisation, are they going to enforce it or not?

In Buhari, we saw a man who didn't wait until six weeks to Edo or Rivers polls for him to act with sense of urgency. We saw proactive leadership and not the reactionary one we are used to.

That's just the anthem this useless government has been singing for over a year now but i really want to know that year in which we never consumed foreign goodshuh
The difference between the other years and the Buhari years/last of Jonathan year is that there was dollar shortage to help sooth the pains of rising dollar rate.
The strategy of your nation when there was excess earnings was to sell the excess dollar at a cheaper rate than what it would have gone for. It helped Importers keep prices of goods down, and you & I were happier then. Right now there is no Dollar to subsidize forex. We didn't invest during the years of excesses. It may interest you to know that we spent over $200B between 2002 - 2014 in subsidizing dollars rate. It takes money to make money and right now there is no money to invest. The pressure of recurrent bills like workers salaries won't allow what's coming in to be utilized in industry.

First of all, it is obvious you do not know the meaning of the word bigotry. Secondly, it means nothing if 10 or 100 blogs carry the same story in nigeria; even a primary school pupil with access to internet data knows that blogs in Nigeria do CTRL+C and CTRL+V from each other. If I ask you to do a google search and supply at least 5 of the so called outlets that conveyed the report, it would be obvious to you that 4 out of the 5 would be word for word reportage.

With the proliferation of lazy and dubious bloggers all over the place in Nigeria, smart people typically do a quick sense-check of what they read online especially as we have more falsehood circulating in cyberspace presently.

I've been asking you all day to rationalise the story you swallowed regarding the purported 20,000km of roads built by GEJ; 20,000km isn't 20km which could be hidden from public view, roads aren't economic statistics which can be hidden in paper, if there are even 10,000km roads built, it would be seen by all. Maybe i'm probably blind and my friends and relatives are also all blind, so kindly just help us out by mentioning the names of the roads you know that make up the 20,000km?.. Is that too much to ask of a smart person?
You should av known by now that the Jonathanians like abstract achievements. 12000MW of dark power, 20,000 of abstract roads, 10s of new universities that can't make top 1,000 in Africa, almajiri schools to people don't want education, Largest economy sustained on debt. The list of abstract achievement is endless.

In addition to the above, many Nigerians are not are aware or ignorant of the fact that from 2007 to 2015, that the Nigerian population actually increased by as much as 30million people. Many European countries don't have a population of 30million people, we have an unproductive population as a result of bad governance.

No doubt, the past administrations made a mess from 1960 to till date Which Buhari and Co happens to be part of. I hope the next time Drabeey, sheyguy, AntiWailer, obailala and Co come up with their usual analysis of the last administration's mismanagement of public funds, they should endeavor to factor in the above realities in other to have a more balanced perspective on the Nigerian problem. A single administration should not take the fall.
Stop supporting half smart people dude. Nigeria's debt is mostly in dollars. It makes sense that once the Naira depreciates against the dollar ( it did by almost 50% ), the equivalent in Naira will increase accordingly.
In my view it is wrong to translate the debt value to Naira when it will be paid with dollar. Remember OBJ debt payment, it was in dollar and the press didn't need to translate it to Naira because the money used to offset it didn't come from tax or Naira account. People politicize thing blindly alot.

They read title and yarn dust.
Wailing isn't built on logical but emotional grounds. You think Adesina coined the term for nothing. When people are low emotionally(death, broke, accident) they wail. Sound logic of understanding can cure wailing, but hatred is an emotion so they wail endlessly.

Never in history of any country has mouth (utterances) been used to end recession.

We need reforms and far reaching economic policies to get that done.

Buhari is a saver hence can't spend to get Nigeria out of recession.
We need a spender cum heavy borrower like GEJ.

Although I dislike violence..... but this could have been avoided if you people had not resorted to raping pillaging and murder of the amiable Enugu citizens who hosted you. Security agencies will not save you!
The strength of the heardsmen lies in the ability to quitely reinforce with more men and weapons before striking back. If what's happening in Enugu happens concurrently in 10 states, the herdsmen will find it hard to regroup and reinforce.

Cocoa the same.

The only commodity that neared palm oil from the Niger Delta was Tin mining in Jos which wasn't even up to half of that realised from palm oil.

Can you people now shutup on that silly lie that your cocoa and groundnuts were used to develop the oil industry!
What happened between 1914 and 1950(34+years) window? No real conclusion can be made regarding who contributed more. We need cumulative figure spread round decades. We all know palm oil trade peaked before other cash crops.
