StOla: By my argument our economy was at a level where $16pb could sustain us in 1999
If we found ourselves at a level of $100 for 4 years and less than 2years later we drop to $27pb before rising back to the $40pb era last experienced before 2006, do you expect things to be rosy?
A family man took care of his family with his N50k monthly salary. Later he got a better pay of N100k. Then much later he started earning as high as N 500k monthly. Suddenly his pay slumped to N50k he last earned over 10years ago.
Do you expect his family to live on N50k now because he once earned N50k before?
Now consider he had no substantial savings all through the very high pay of N500k, instead he even dipped his hands into the little he saved when he was earning N50k and N100k.
So if we could build our reserves with an oil price range of $16pb to 60pb from 1999 to 2008, is it not irresponsible that a government will earn $100pb on oil from 2010 to mid 2014, yet could not increase the reserves but saw fit to be looting what had been saved by a more responsible government when things weren't even rosy?
So irresponsible that they were already borrowing to pay salaries because of an 8month old gradual slump from that $100pb to $50pb.
What would Jonathan have done if he was still in power when crude price eventually fell to $27pb? I bet by now our reserves will be $0, and we would have once again become Paris club most loyal customer. They keep trying to spin irrelevant facts and lies. Please lecture them. PDP rule when oil sold $16pb didn't include the jumbo pay our leaders are getting now, bloated civil workforce, increase in staff pay, amd many more responsibilities. |

It's been two years now,are you still unemployed?
Why not move ahead with your life and let them continue with their APC vs PDP jamboree(on a lighter note).
My advice, forget about the company, you are an IT professional, so getting a job shouldn't be a problem to you inasmuch as you have the right skills and the relevant knowledge.
But you no try sha,you recorded a convo and was careless about it till your HR found out(are you sure you are not working with CIA or FBI? You should ask them that question also because to go through the phone of a colleaque is much more intrusive than the employee leaving his recorder on and close himself at random, I think. |

The same people conditioning me with various rules later tried denying it. Had my obedience to their strange rule resulted in a heavy damage of data or equipment, they would av equally denied me and I would be dry and alone. Alot more happened believe me I just tried reducing it to make the thread short. [MODIFIED] Seems my post is being misunderstood. I never said I want to continue working with them. They still av my last salary and various tools with them and have refused to return them but those can be forgotten willingly by me. My recordings were inspired by the weight of what I was being told on a weekly basis. They even boasted to me that I am not of the 'Family' so I don't have right to justice in that office on tape. I didn't and would never manipulate anyone into a coversation. They spoke freely and came to me to tell lies on their own accord. This isn't the first time such a scenario is playing out. In the past a girl was threatened and blackmailed by a senior staff and the girl recorded, leaked it and got justice. |

The truth about Nigeria's recession is this; it was caused by the president's unguided rhetoric and uncultured body language.
Firstly, there is nothing we are buying today that we weren't buying 5 years ago, therefore it's not our purchase that put pressure on Naira but withdrawal of funds by foreign investors.
After the election, the president created instability with his unguided statements about how everyone is corrupt and how everyone is going to jail. The instability made foreign investors to liquidate their investment and change their money to dollars. In the process of trying to flee,

100% right. Direct your anger towards a system that takes excess petrodollar and uses it to subsidize the Dollar-Naira exchange rate. What we have today is that subsidy becoming unsustainable due to petrodollar disappearance. I blame it on successive govt, CBN governors, state governors and lawmakers who maintained that evil subsidy. Let the Naira fall to its true value, it will encourage production as exported goods will command higher Naira equivalent. |
Politics › Re: Could This Be The Real Reason Why The Nigerian Economy Went Into Recession by sheyguy: 3:36am On Sep 03, 2016 |
Trash post. The true value of Naira is gradually being revealed. It has been subsidized by the govt for so long. and in the absence of excess petrodollar to maintain it Naira will keep crashing until gets to its real value. I put that to be between N800/$ - N1200/$. |
Career › Help Nairalanders, My Work Place Dilemma. by sheyguy(op): 3:24am On Sep 03, 2016 |
Goodmorning Nlders, I have a challenge concerning my 'former' work place which is a family business. It all started after I was employed in 2012 as an IT support staff. The HR in my work place started giving me strange new conditions like: me bringing a laptop as part of my tools to the work place(even when I knew I didn't need it), and having to employ my own means(stealing) to get privileged info like passwords and software administration tips from the colleague I met in the department. The strange new rules kept coming from the HR and then my departmental colleague in form of friendly charges and at this point I decided to protect myself by secretly recording(audio) what I could to avoid being denied in the event of a disaster(data or key equipment loss).
The situation continued not without new challenges as I later got to realize that there was a clique among staffs (secret society type maintained by the business owners themselves;wife and husband). It got to a point where my colleague in department discovered the recordings, I suspect he combed through my phone while I charged it, and leaked it to his clique-the HR inclusive. This lead to me being targeted openly in the office and subsequently framed up and suspended indefinitely since some two years ago.
The Situation Now As it stands now, they have secretly filed a termination of appointment letter into my file which I discovered by luck and when I asked for a copy of it through email they refused. I am considering taking up the case because:
1.) Before I was suspended the confrontation got serious and I have the particular staff who signed my letter of indefinite suspension on tape threatening to fill my file up so it will remain a stigma.I know their knowledge of this particular threat won't make them want to reveal the termination of appointment letter to me.
2.) They have no real case against me. In addition to this I replied the last query I was given and rightly denied the flimsy allegation I was framed up with.
Should I just let them stain my record easily? I asked the last question because I know there is a 99.999% chance of them doctoring incriminating stuffs into my file if my appointment can be terminated and kept secret from me by them.
From my findings and gauging of their mood around me after I was suspended, I strongly suspect they secretly hope I somehow come around one day and drop a resignation letter but I don't intend to go that way.
I need the advice of NL in the house on what step to take. Should I lodge a complaint with the police, take them to court or write Labour institutions for support? |

Gbawe: This is the crux of the matter. I rate Aregbesola's high on his fiscal management skills. Apparently, others do too. Suffice to say this translates into much needed funds to carry out many overdue capital projects. Aregbes fiscal management skill was largely dependent on huge FG allocation and not IGR. Today the state is in deep financial mess. I hope Nigerians now realize that debts incurred in the hope of being offsetted by oil windfall must be repaid irrespective of whether oil price crashes. Aregbesola should have focused on things that would boost IGR instead of banking on steady oil prices. |
