The Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) will on March 12, confer honorary fellowship awards on the Founder, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola and Chairman of the state Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Babatunde Rotinwa, as they have proven to be sources of inspiration and worthy of emulation.
The polytechnic will also graduate a total of 16,315 students, who have completed their National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in various disciplines.
Briefing journalists recently to announce its combined 27th convocation ceremony for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 academic sessions, the outgoing Rector, Mr. Samuel Sogunro said out of the total number of graduands who have acquired at least a vocational skill at its Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition (CESA), 598 had distinction, 5,332 came out with upper credit, 8,2117 had lower credit, while 2,117 got pass classifications.


The 10th rector of the polytechnic, who highlighted his achievements during his tenure, said the polytechnic was able to secure institutional re-accreditation and approval for resource accreditation for ND in Photography.
“This administration is poised to float another 15 new programmes that are need-based. The programmes which are before the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for consideration are: ND- Transportation Planning Management; ND-Welding and Fabrication Technology; ND- Interior Design; ND- Fashion and Clothing.”
Others are ND- Mineral and Petroleum Resources Engineering, ND- Agric Business Management, ND- Polymer Science Technology, ND-Home and Rural Economics, HND- Statistics, HND- Leisure and Tourism, among others.He appealed to the state government not to relent in its support to the institution towards the actualisation of the need-based programmes.
“As an entrepreneurial polytechnic, the curricular have been enriched to strengthen our students by introducing a general agriculture course to students at all levels. This will make the students self-reliant and enhance food production and security.”
As part of efforts to reposition the polytechnic for efficiency and functional service delivery, he said five new directorates have been created, adding that it has also secured patent rights for three inventions by the Schools of Engineering and Applied Science in fuel-less generator, automatic car jack and bio-digester.

As part of activities slated for the convocation ceremony, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola came today and he delivered a lecture titled ‘Infrastructural Deficit and Technological Development in Nigeria: The Role of Technical Education’

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared that it would soon deploy aerial vehicles to survey the Trans-African region to enhance border security. This was revealed on Wednesday at a meeting in Abuja by the Minister of Works and Housing, , who stated that the first phase of the project will stretch from the Lagos-Abuja corridor to Ivory Coast. Speaking further at the meeting with the management of the African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information Science and Technology, Fashola said that the security apparatus that will be deployed in the future will be increasingly technology-based and their effectiveness depends a lot on geospatial data. He said: “We want to bring in some aerial vehicles to do aerial survey for the Lagos-Abuja highway corridor that is connecting Nigeria through Seme border to Benin, all the way to Ivory Coast. That is the first phase. “The security apparatus that will be deployed in the future will be increasingly technology-based and their effectiveness depends a lot on geospatial data,” Fashola added. Maryam Sanda has approached the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, asking the court to set aside the verdict and acquit her after being sentenced to death by hanging following the murder of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.
Recall that Sanda was sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Yusuf Halilu on Jan. 27.
According to reports in her appeal she expressed that the trial judge “was tainted by bias and prejudices.”
According to her, this led to the denial of her right to fair hearing and her consequent conviction.
No date has been fixed for hearing in the matter.

Coronavirus death toll surpasses 900, making it more deadly than any other virus so,
The world health organisation(WHO) has declared Coronavirus to be a public health emergency.
The death toll from coronavirus in mainland China has hit 908, making it more deadly than the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic.
China’s National Health has confirmed 3062 new infections and 97 new deaths — a new daily record.
The infection rate has escalated sharply since the beginning of the year, with only 547 cases confirmed on January 22. By February 1 there were 14,300 cases.
There are now a total of 40,553 cases of the coronavirus worldwide, including 15 infections in Australia. The death toll worldwide is now at 910.
Of those infections, 6500 are severe, according to official data.
It comes as a Chinese official confirmed a worrying new fact about the deadly coronavirus; infections are taking place through aerosol transmission and symptoms includes

The Early History of Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is named after Saint Valentine, a Catholic priest who lived in Rome in the 3rd Century. There are many stories about St Valentine and over time these stories grew into the legend we know today.
At the time of Valentine's life, many Romans were converting to Christianity, but the Emperor Claudius II was a pagan and created strict laws about what Christians were allowed to do. Claudius believed that Roman soldiers should be completely devoted to Rome and therefore passed a law preventing them from marrying. St Valentine began to marry these soldiers in secret Christian ceremonies and this was the beginning of his reputation for believing in the importance of love.
Eventually, Valentine was found out and jailed for his crimes against Claudius. While imprisoned, Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners and also his jailor's blind daughter. Legend has it that Valentine cured the girl's blindness and that his final act before being executed was to write her a love message signed ‘from your Valentine'. Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270.
How did Valentine's Day develop?
It wasn't until more than 200 years later that 14 February was proclaimed St Valentine's Day. By this time Rome had become Christian and the Catholic Church was determined to stamp out any remaining paganism. A pagan fertility ritual was held in February each year and the Pope abolished this festival and proclaimed 14 February Saint Valentine's Day, thus establishing this feast day on the Catholic Calendar of Saints.

In this life there is always a race to run either individually or in group(s) so It has come to the notice of everybody in slt nd2 evening in lagos state polytechnic ikorodu campus that on the 10th of February 2020 is their upcoming election for their newly excos to be elected,but there is a grudge happening between the upcoming excos.Although the upcoming election has different criteria of post like PRESIDENT,VICE PRESIDENT,CHIEF COUNSELOR,AUDITOR,LADY VICE,FIN-SECRETARY,GEN-SECRETARY,SPORT DIRECTOR this listed posts form(s) has been bought already by the students in both nd1 and nd2 but in this article we are looking mainly on the beef/grudge on the so called post which is the "PRESIDENT".
This presidency post matter has become the top case in the "SLT" evening department which has brought up a serious clash against the two opposing parties which are ADEKUNLE AFOLAYAN FAWAZ aka(baba 4 the girls) & OWOYELE OMOTUNDE EMMANUEL popularly known as (ABURO WIZKID) both contestants were also among the excos who has a post under the blanket of "NASTES" national association of science and technology students emmanuel popularly known as ABURO WIZKID held the post of the vice president before he later decided to run for the presidential post and more so fawaz also has a post he held as the ass fin secretary which he was supposed to step up and run for the post of the financial secretary but he turned down the hope and thinking of everybody and decided to purchase the president form,this matter became more viral because this two contestants are close friends to each other.The big question is that WHO WILL WIN?we made reasons not to include photos in this article.
In this matter the grudge and problem there is about the secret talks and rants of students against the so called outgoing president "EZEMARAMU ADOLPHOS saying he thinks he can favour one party to go against the other,which it's not supposed to be and to all the members under NASTES are now turning beef/violence talks against each other.On the 5th of February 2020 during the manifesto day the outgoing president stood up against his vice-president (Omotunde emmanuel)using a voice clip against to take charges against him claiming he leaks their exco meeting out to other departmental students,emmanuel denied instantly that he never tried such since he became the vice president of "nastes"some of the students present during the manifesto stood up and faced the outgoing president adolphos laying grudges that what he did is supposed to be tabled in a "tete-a-tete" manner not during manifesto and this is not only the charges that are laid against the outgoing president adolphos like (i)trying to use his grade point to go against him (ii)unfulfilment of some promises to the students during the previous manifesto programme(iii)making own self decisions to every students to follow(iv)bad manner of approach to the excos and students etc all other charges were also laid against president adolphos which were not listed here but covered up over some reasons.This beef against the student,president adolphos,vp emmanuel and ass fin secretary which has gone viral in the class and has gotten to the table of the coordinator"MR taiwo osho today he summoned all students present in class in other to dress the case,but students who felt this is bad stood against the talk because a girl's name was secretly mentioned "LAWAL ADEOLA MORENIKEJI" who was said to be responsible for the recorded clip of which she flare up with her friends after class going against the clip they mentioned her to be responsible of.Therefore we hold it here because we excluded photos and made a cover up of some things happening in the department.WHO MADE THE FALSE CLIP?
