He applied 28th January, 2022. Almost a year ago. Did the reason for rejection valid? Someone that left SA 4 years ago?

Apply for fresh application to be safe. These people that are even yet to answer people that applied for visa over 8months ago, do you think it’s appeal they’ll start attending to? Just Re-apply and pray it doesn’t take long before their decisions comes out.

One question: when did the post doc student apply for visa and when did he get declined?
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by shigo04: 10:22pm On Jan 20, 2023
Please house, I need a professional advice on this issue. A senior colleague who applied for research visitor to participate in postdoc in SA got declined. The reason they gave was that he did not submit South Africa police report. This is a fellow who had left SA since 2018 after his PhD and no one requested for it at VFS when he submitted his application. Please, what's the way out ? Is it to appeal or apply for a fresh application? What time does the appeal take? How can someone who left the republic five years ago get their police report? Cos I think it might need capturing. Its very urget please!!!

I heard Lagos embassy isn’t treating visa applications for now, even new applications are forwarded to Abuja for processing. I guess that’s why yours is stucked.
I do not think that's the reason why it was stucked because I applied for the same category of visa in Abuja since March 17 and I didn't hear from them as well.

Thank you Dr. It seems they do not want to give visa to postdoctoral students.

I submitted my application as postdoc fellow by applying for the visitor's visa. That's what you are to apply for as well. I'm still awaiting my passport from the South African embassy in Lagos since 12th of January.
Is your visa out Dr?

Hello house.
I’m planning to apply for a visa for my Postdoc
fellowship in RSA. Please, I need your kind guidance in selecting the right category of visa on the VFS website. My colleagues from other countries, especially India, do select the Research visa which is a sub category under Visitors visa. However, that option is not available from Nigeria.
Thanks in advance as I hope to be properly guided.

Is your visa out Dr?

P.S: The Postdoctoral fellowship is for a period of 2 years.

Yes. I did all the documentations all over again
Hi bro. Please, why did you do the documentation again? Was the application rejected earlier? Cos I have heard more than 3 cases where they had to do the documentation all over again. Is it applicable to everyone? Thank you.

Hello Guys, I got a text message from The SA Embassy to resubmit another application form (DHA 1738 form)
at VFS Abuja.
I had submitted my application for the Research Visitor Visa in March, 2022 for my postdoctoral fellowship.
Please I need your kind answers to the questions below:

1. Must I book an appointment with VFS on the website like I did during the original submission. Or do I just walk
in and make the submission.
2. The form specifically asked that I submit the form, do I also need to submit all the documents I submitted during
the original submission.
3. Do I need to make another payment for the Visa fee?

Please be informed that I have contacted VFS and they had no reasonable response to the queries. The number that
also texted from the Embassy instructed that I must not call or text back.
Thanks as I look forward to your insights.
This is just unpalatable to hearing. Can you just imagine that? Giving someone incomplete information to confuse that fellow. I will suggest you go there to submit the form you are requested to submit and to be on the safer side, go with other documents as well should incase they ask for it.

Don’t believe anybody deceiving you guys on here. I submitted my SA VISA application in Abuja on August 5th and I got a Text/Email today that my Visa is out and on it’s way back to me in Lagos. Be it approval or denial. It took a month for everything to be out.
Which visa did you apply for? Study visa?

I heard top travel agents (the recognized ones) are now charging a refundable fee of $5-$10k for any Nigerian traveling to SA. This fee is refunded when you return before the your visa expires. If you stay beyond your visa then you lose the $5k. She also stated that procurement of visa processes in Abuja will still take few months. NOTE: this message came directly from the owner of a top travel agency company in Nigeria.
Charging above 2 million naira for SA visa (refundable or non-refundable).....I can't laugh. This contree self!!!

Wow. Sometimes what causes these delay is maybe you didn’t give them sufficient information or somethings were not just right with the application. He/she should contact VFS or SA consulate for assistance. And it’s advisable to apply for SA visa at least 6 Months earlier before the day of departure and all supporting document must be clear, legible and authentic.
The fellow contacted SA embassy in Abuja and fortunately the high commissioner responded to his mail. He said, the type of visa he applied for is adjudicated at the home affair South Africa, and as a mission in Nigeria, they await the outcome of the application before they can get back to the fellow.

It’s within 12-18 weeks before you get an outcome. There are strict measures now in visa applications
Its better you say 1 year, because I have someone who had applied 8 months ago and nothing till now.

[quote author=Jiol post=115975871]I'm really tired of this south africa visa delay! If they don't want us, then they should stop collecting non refundable application fees from thousands of people, both in vfs and their so called 'Evisa' (which I've never heard a success story of) and close down their commission in our country, let us know they do not exist. Is this not scam?!! Coupled with the fact that they hold people's passports for months without explanation. Air peace has suspended flights to southafrica partly because of lack of visas and they can't keep carrying half empty flights and losing money, soon other airlines will join. Their tourism and people whose livelihood is tied to tourism will suffer it too. This is just unfair as they have no regard for people's time, flight/Hotel money, and all the heartache we have to go through just to visit for a few days!
They complain that foreigners are stealing their jobs, but they have jobs and it seems like they are not doing it!! Please look for other African countries to visit and boycott SA if you can! [/quote

The application fee is meagra compared to those that pay R 5800 for medical health insurance which I know is nonrefundable if I am correct. This is scam nothing else.

TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by shigo04: 11:28pm On Jul 31, 2022
Can you imagine that! Yet they did not stop collecting more applications while having thousands of passports in their custody. They can only try that with Nigerians because they know we don't have leaders. They can not try that with countries that have structures. Holding people's passport for 6 to 8 months......Haba!!!
Hiikayauto:
This stuff is really getting annoying... I first submitted my tourist visa application on the 28th of feb and got denial for the reason that I didn't tell them my source of income because I had huge inflow of about 150m n a closing balance of 5m. on that application I stated that I was a businessman and I submitted my business CAC doc. maybe because I have didn't tell them that I was running my business with my personal account. mind you, my uncle is a citizen and he sent me invitation letter, with a police stamped copy of his ID. We bear same surname. yet I got denial. I received my passport back March 26th. I arranged my documents again and stated that I was running my business with my personal account because my corporate acct got issues. I also attached another invitation letter from my uncle with police stamp. I resubmit in abuja again on the 30th of march, that's 4days after they returned my passport. till today my application its till under assessment. like, today made it 4months with my Passport, my travel date on the application was 25th of June. so like this travel date done pass.. for just South Africa. and I am not a first time traveler. I was in SA 2018, I have been to Dubai 3 times since I came back from SA. Please why will this ppl hold someone passport for that long. na see finish they cause all this rubbish.

Yes they are!!! For those that paid for medical insurance scheme, months are counting while money is going down the drain, yet they refused to issue visa. When Lagos and PH centers were opened, we even taught some measures have been taken as regards the delay in issuing of visa not knowing is still the same. It really sucks and highly frustrating.

Good day everyone. I have been trying to reach out to SA Abuja embassy in the past days through the number I got on this forum. However, guyz at their reception have been the one picking my calls and promised to forward it to the consular but that has always been the end of the conversation as nobody will pick it from the consular end. I would like to know if anybody has talked to them at the consular section. Thank you.

Congratulations to all that received email about the outcome of their visa application. It will definitely be a positive one by God's grace. I will like to know if we have anyone on this forum that applied for research visitor visa this year and has gotten his or her visa. I applied for research visitor visa on 17th of March but got no respond yet. Sent series of emails to the embassy but no reply too. Any update on this category will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
