Operatives of special operations unit of the NDLEA are doing great.
*Honestly the way Anambra got this drug thing on lockdown should be properly studied. Not saying we don't have bad eggs everywhere but this is total domination. |

danvon: What is your point exactly?
Were the founding fathers of USA Catholics or Pentecostals? My point is clear and followed the trail of conversation. No need to shift goalpost |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why More Youths Are Leaving Orthodox Churches For Pentecostal Fire In Lagos by Shikena(m): 12:22pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
SeriouslySense: hmm i may agree Wrong! There are lots of catholic converts. Visit a nearby Catholic charities center and hear their stories. They don't make noise because they are not "commercialized" in the new age pentecostal sense, so no need for aggressive marketing and publicity. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why More Youths Are Leaving Orthodox Churches For Pentecostal Fire In Lagos by Shikena(m): 12:17pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
I don't think you live in the USA or familiar with what you are delving into. Your thoughts and facts are two different things. There were reports on publications and even my local TV on this. You don't even need to look at those, drive by a catholic church in the US on Saturday evening and all day on Sundays. Also, here is a link on a related report: https://nypost.com/2025/04/17/lifestyle/why-young-people-are-converting-to-catholicism-en-masse/danvon: Nope it does not.
Its very hard to see a catholic nowadays whose parents or spouse were not catholic.
Again, my nepotism point. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why More Youths Are Leaving Orthodox Churches For Pentecostal Fire In Lagos by Shikena(m): 12:09pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
Yet Catholic church grows steadily in the USA till today. danvon: Catholic church is too nepotistic, everything from being a member of choir to being a layreader depends on who you know, how much you have, how connected you are.
The word nepotism itself originated from the catholic church, go and verify.
Its no wonder that merit based societies like USA had a very pentecostal foundation. |

Yes, that is Atiku Abubakar for you and you have to understand and factor that into your political analysis when he is involved Angelfrost: That's why he continues to waste his money and time contesting and losing every cycle.
If he had backed Jonathan in 2015, he would be in his second term by now.
Such a desperate and shortsighted Politician. |

You see Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Fulani, Efik, Kanuri or Tiv turn or maybe SW, SW, SS, NW, NE, NC turn while others see North and South turn only. Politics has never been 1+1=2 and there will always be elements of selfishness unless you are being naive or dishonest, join party and fight your own battle. Heffalump: 2027 should be the turn of the Igbos. I'm not selfish by this reasoning. In a balanced political scenario, tge SE deserves the presidency in 2027. Tinubu robbed his way into office in 2023. May he never succeed again. The only albatross there is Atiku, who's equally greedy as Tinubu. Both old men have nothing tangible in exchange for power. |

Thank you, this is the type of conversation we should be having but some people are permanently stuck in election mode. nairalanda1: True that, but the main issue is, Abuja does not have a good enough transport system.
If they had maintained what el rufai did, and improved on it, and even added an intra-city rail system (like what Lagos is trying to do) it would have reduced incidence of this nonsense.
BUt even then, in UK , a woman entered a proper taxi, and was murdered by the same taxi driver. We can hope to reduce, not to eradicate. But reduction good. |

This is an unacceptable situation and we can do better but we do have crime in London, Manchester, Chicago, New York, Dallas, Paris etc. Crime is what criminals do, and it's always an ongoing battle. nairalanda1: Yes o, tinubu should do better, but this problem has been here for over 15 years.

"even with the picture shown has anyone come to identify" - from your own mouth If you go missing, your family will reach out to the police and if news like this comes out they will reach out to them for identification. Identification is not officially done with pictures. Kalulu44: And what if nobody knows his or her whereabout, isn't that picture the surest way to know. The Abuja lady that is still in the hospital who was brought in unconscious, even with the picture shown has anyone come to identify her not to talk of if they didn't post her picture at all. |

Hope you are aware that dead bodies are prepared for funeral and this has been a practice across humanity since the beginning of time. There is a difference between a body discovered on the road side and one already prepared for funeral. It is part of human dignity.
