I know that the dullard was not President when Peter Obi was governor of Anambra state. In fact I even pointed it out in my post that it is you dullard worshippers who are guilty of that type of stupidity. Even the lecturer and health workers strike you are attributing to Obi actually happened during the dullard's tenure. You're either too dumb or too dishonest to acknowledge the truth. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402132332110103.jpg Goodnewsforlife: |
Show us where lecturers and health workers went on strike under Peter Obi. As if we don't know that both the health workers and lecturers strike was a national strike. Lecturers were striking because coconut brain daura fool introduced IPPS without knowing what he was doing and the health workers strike started because the dullard was neglecting the ministry of health while he was always running abroad anytime he had ordinary headache. As for poverty, every state in Nigeria became poorer under the mismanagement and incompetence of the APC. Why did Soludo expect Anambra state to be any different? State governments do not control Nigeria's economic policy, only the Federal government has that authority. Goodnewsforlife: |
Provide your statistics to prove he made Anambra poorer. Anambra doesn't have any oil neither is it a port city, yet salaries were always paid on time and there was always money for capital projects. I remember during the campaign when an APC fool said that Anambra workers were owed 36 months salary under Peter Obi and he attached a screenshot from a news article of 2006, not knowing that Obi became governor in 2007. APC have always been the experts in mixing stupidity and dishonesty. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402131829250098.jpeg Goodnewsforlife: |
What exactly is his track record? Lagos has always been the richest state in Nigeria by far, so raising Lagos revenue is no big deal, especially when you consider that he had 8 years to do it. None of the other previous governors of Lagos before him spent more that 4 years in office. Goodnewsforlife: |
The official exchange rate of the Naira to the Ghanaian Cedi is N120 to 1 Cedi. At the parallel market, it is more like 250 Naira to 1 Ghana Cedi. Nigeria's corrupt and kleptocratic elite may have their eyes on Europe and North America where they havestashed their stolen loot, but the teeming millions of Nigeria's wretched poor will definitely have their hungry eyes set on the more attainable destination of Ghana. Apart from the fact that Ghana is geographically closer to Nigeria than Europe and North America, it also has the added advantage of being an English speaking country which would make adjustments to local life easier for the hungry and desperate Nigerian economic migrants. But can Ghana with a population of less than 50 million, support the feeding of millions of extra Nigerian mouths? Wouldn't Ghana's social infrastructure (which is not exactly world class standard, but considered good by African standards) collapse under the added strain of millions of hungry Nigerian mouths? These are some of the questions that the Government and people of Ghana must ponder upon in the coming weeks, months and years as millions of hungry, beleaguered Nigerians begin shuffling their tired dusty feet towards the Nigeria/Benin Republic border, on their way to Ghana. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402131736000094.jpg https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402131736000100.jpg https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402131759220115.jpg |
This level of stupidity should be studied in a laboratory. GenSpecifics: |
Who are you talking about? |
I'm sorry for your experience, but Nairaland is only a reflection of the damaged psyche of the Nigerian mind. Just by asking that sort of question on this forum, you invited the attention of Nairaland's very vocal (but very intellectually shallow) red pill crowd. Their trade mark is that they cannot hold or engage in a civil discourse because the thimble full of brain cells they have will always be a stumbling block for them. There are actually intelligent and exposed Nigerians on this forum who would have done a great deal of intellectual justice to your question, but these days they tend to stay away from Nairaland because of the uncouthness you are complaining about. Ugliness is a metaphor. It can also be anthropomorphised..... MrProlific95: |
The ugly presence of failure and underachievement that has enveloped Nigeria since May the 29th 2015 and which intensified on the 29th of May 2023, caught up with the Super Eagles of Nigeria on a warm, balmy evening in the ancient city of Abidjan yesterday. To be fair, this would not be the first time that the Super Eagles have failed the hopes and aspirations of Nigeria and Nigerians. But this time around, they were 45 minutes away from crowning their efforts at the recently concluded AFCON with a trophy before capitulating and allowing the victory to slip through their clumsy talons. However, I would like to bring to light the role that the ugliness which sits in Aso Rock played in the unravelling of the Super Eagles' dreams on that fateful Sunday evening. You see, at the beginning of AFCON, Ugliness had run away to the chilly and leafy comforts of a 5 star Parisian Hotel, all paid for at the expense of the Nigerian public pocket, even though Ugliness informed us that this was supposed to be a "private" visitation to the City of Romance....Ugliness was celebrating his own version of Valentine's Day in Paris while the rest of us back home in Nigeria were dealing with zero electricity, insecurity and run away pricing of basic goods and services. Let than sink in...... Anyway, Ugliness is aware of his incompetence and the role he played in assisting the growing poverty, desperation and insecurity which has been bedeviling Nigeria since the 29th of May 2023 (in reality since 29th May 2015) and he has been looking for a way out, a diversion which would at least temporarily distract the nation's attention away from his numerous and multiplying failures. As the Oyinbo proverb says: "A drowning man will clutch at straws to survive" So our dear Ugliness who didn't even bother to host the Super Eagles at Aso Rock before they left the shores of Nigeria in the beginning of the AFCON, began to scheme how he would hijack the coming success of the Super Eagles to boost his rapidly diminishing leadership credentials. The more he thought about the idea, the happier Ugliness was. His bulging red eyes which resembled that of a toad suffering from an advanced case of conjunctivitis (popularly known in local slang as "Apollo) began to shine and his decomposing indian hemp stained teeth also began to shine in eager anticipation of the coming "victory" Ugliness decided to postpone several high profile meetings with service chiefs and economic advisers and fly to Abidjan to act as a cheer leader for the team whose success he was seeking to exploit for personal gain. However, Ugliness never reckoned with the power of social media and the growing anger of Nigerians over the rapidly deteriorating state of their nation. No sooner had he announced his intention and spread his ugly wings to take flight to Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoir, than a barrage of vicious insults and taunts from angry and hungry Nigerians on social media, which forced him to reluctantly change his mind and nominate ugliness junior, a man who has his own distinguished record of failure and incompetence, to go an represent him instead. Unfortunately for both the Eagles and Nigerians, the damage had already been done. The dose of Ugliness with which the Super Eagles had been infected proved to be too much for them to overcome and they ended up throwing away a one goal lead to lose to a much better and an much more inspired Ivorian team, 2-1. The American poet and writer Carl Sandburg once said: If you listen carefully, at the back of every misadventure and defeat, you will hear the laughter of wisdom. The unanswered question is: Will Nigerians learn not only from the failure they recorded on the 11th of February 2024, but also the even more monumental and catastrophic failures of May 29th 2015 and May 29th 2023? Only time will tell. |
In a surprising turn of events, the conservative streets of Riyadh, the capital city, witnessed the grand opening of "Desert Spirits," the first-ever alcohol shop in Saudi Arabia. The air buzzed with a mix of curiosity and skepticism as locals, adorned in traditional attire, gathered to explore this novel venture. Owned by a forward-thinking entrepreneur Ahmed Al-Mansoori, the shop boasts of a carefully curated selection of international and local spirits, all compliant with the newly introduced regulations allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages to non-Muslim expatriates. As the doors swung open, the scent of incense mingled with the aroma of aged whiskies and exotic liqueurs, creating an atmosphere both unprecedented and surreal. A symbol of shifting norms, "Desert Spirits" sparked conversations about cultural evolution, reflecting the changing dynamics within the Kingdom. However even though the shop will be open only to non-Muslim diplomats, many hardline members of Saudi Arabia's council of Islamic scholars fear that it is first step to wider availability of alcohol in the kingdom. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402111844510105.jpg |
Oga in this case there is no mistake. Dongban Mensem abused her power as President of the Nigerian Court of Appeal to benefit her family and her kinsman. Anybody who denies the truth is just a fool. garfield1: |
Of course you understand law better than the highest court in the country. You should be proud of yourself. garfield1: |
What is this one saying? Didn't you read that on the 12th of January 2024, the Supreme Court condemned the decision of the Court of Appeal panel which was appointed by Justice Monica Dongban Mensem? The Supreme Court even went as far as to label them a rogue Court of Appeal. garfield1: |
Yes, collect the Naira equivalent which would be dispensed to you at the official exchange rate which doesn't reflect the true value you are supposed to be getting. You guys keep magnifiying your lack of intelligence and the whole world treats you as a laughing stock. Throwback: |
Meet the 7th President of the Nigerian Court of Appeal. Her name is Justice Monica Dongban Mensem and she comes from Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402091632380098.jpg Someone else who comes from Shendam Local Government Area is the recent two term APC Governor of the Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong. Lalong initially came into the spotlight as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a time when it was fashionable to be a PDP member in Nigeria. In 2015, Simon Lalong decamped from the PDP and joined the newly formed All Progressives Congress (APC). He would later contest for the post of Governor which he won and ended up serving two terms from 2015 to 2023. At this stage, you may be wondering, What is the connection between Justice Monica Dongban Mensem and Simon Lalong apart from the fact that they come from the same home town? Be patient because the answer to your question is coming. Two days before her 63rd birthday, on 11 June 2020, Justice Dongbam-Mensem became the seventh President of the Court of Appeal and only the second woman to hold the powerful position. At that time, the governor of the state Simon Bako Lalong, like Justice Monica Dongbam-Mensem is a lawyer, and just like her, he also hails from Shendam Local Government Area. Shendam is in the Central Senatorial Zone of the Plateau State. The following year, after her elevation to the post of President of the Court of Appeal, the Governor of her state Mr Simon Lalong appointed Justice Monica Dongban Mensem’s daughter, Buetnaan Mandy Dongban Bassi, as a judge of the High Court of Plateau State. The governor did this even though there was a clear conflict of interest as her mother sat on the National Judicial Council (NJC) which approved her appointment. Two years later, in September 2023, the same NJC of which Justice Monica is a prominent member also appointed her daughter's husband, MR PAUL BUETNAAN who is her son-in-law, to the Court of Appeal. But the story gets even spicier from here onwards. After serving his constitutionally mandated two terms of office as Governor of Plateau State, Mr Simon Lalong decided, like so many ex governors before him, to try his hand at becoming a Senator. Remember that Shendam Local Government is the heartland of the Plateau State Central Senatorial Zone. Remember also that both the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica and former Governor Simon Lalong both hail from Shendam Local Government. Remember finally that while he was the APC governor of Plateau State, former Governor Simon Lalong appointed Jutsice Monica's daughter and son in law to juicy positions in both state and federal judiciaries in spite of the serious ethical concerns raised by these appointments. In order to become the Senator from the Plateau Central Senatorial District, former Governor Lalong would have to defeat the incumbent holder of the position, Senator Napoleon Bali of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 General Elections. So you may ask, how did our "hero" fare in the elections? The answer is that he was soundly defeated by his opponent and he had no other option than to rush to the election tribunal to contest his one sided defeat. Unfortunately for him, he lost once more at the election tribunal and now his situation was looking bleak so he decided to pull his trump card. In Nigeria, appeals against the decisions of election tribunals with respect to Senatorial seats go to the Court of Appeal and the Court of Appeal is the final court, unlike election tribunal disputes relating to governorships where the Supreme Court is the final court. Also, when it comes to Court of Appeal's jurisdiction to hear appeals over electoral disputes arising out of elections for a Senatorial Seat, the President of the Court of Appeal has the exclusive power to pick the 3 justices who will preside over the appeal. As the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban Mensem appointed three of her fellow court of appeal justices to preside over the electoral dispute which arose from the Plateau State Central Senatorial District: 1. Justice Oluwayemisi Williams-Dawodu 2. Justice Abdulaziz Waziri, 3. Justice Okon Abang To the surprise of absolutely nobody, these 3 justices overturned the election and the decision of the tribunal upholding the election and returned Simon Lalong as the winner of the election in which he had been roundly defeated. Lalong was one beneficiary among many from a judicial hit-list methodically compiled by the Court of Appeal in Monica Dongban-Mensem’s home state. By the time its demolition job was over, the Court had sacked two PDP Senators from the state and five members of the House of Representatives elected on the PDP ticket. In fact in the entire 25-member state House of Assembly, the Court of Appeal removed 16 members elected on the platform of the PDP, handing their seats and control of the state parliament – with malice aforethought – to the APC. In all these cases, the Court claimed that the PDP should not have fielded candidates. Their reasoning overruled a long line of Supreme Court decisions. This was not a mistake; it was judicial malpractice on a very corrupt scale. At the minimum, the panel should have been called to order when they issued the first decision. But Monica Dongban Mensem who sent them there was getting what she wanted. Instead, inebriated with hubris from the corrupt demolition job they accomplished in Jos, one of the members of the panel, Justice Abdulaziz Waziri, traveled to Yola in Adamawa State last December to celebrate the mandates they had laid to waste, claiming that the PDP “had no structures on the ground at the point they were presenting their candidates.” He alone could explain what he meant. This was a judicial hatchet job. Any claim that the President of the Court of Appeal was not herself a member of the Panel is laughable. Such is the state of the judiciary in Nigeria at this time that the three-person panel whom Monica Dongban-Mensem sent to Plateau State could not have wrought that amount of destruction without her active consent, if not instruction. It is simply inconceivable that a Justice of Appeal, like Okon Abang – sworn in only in October 2023 – could have gone to the home state of the President of the Court to confidently wreak so much political damage without her explicit instruction. It is simply inconceivable that a Justice of Appeal, like Okon Abang – sworn in only in October 2023 – could have gone to the home state of the President of the Court to confidently wreak so much political damage without her explicit instruction. On the 12th of January 2024, the Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal in Plateau was rogue, procured and perverse. It set aside the reasoning of the Court, which denied the people their chosen representatives. But because the Court of Appeal is the final court in these matters, the decision of the Supreme Court is no remedy for the political ruin procured under the baleful influence of Monica Dongban-Mensem. The ruin caused and supervised by this President of the Court of Appeal is incalculable. The legislators whose mandates she has stolen are entitled to feel done over. The people of the Plateau whose will she has ruined are entitled to feel cheated. She and her cohort of carefully selected judicial mobsters have brought the judiciary into irreparable disrepute. |
Some people were born to live and die as fools. This story has NOTHING to do with the Ekiti State kidnappings and killings of traditional rulers and school pupils. It is not even about Ekiti State but about Ekiti Local Government in Kwara State which is an Emirate state. Some people will rather allow ignorance and stupidity to kill them rather than learn the truth. https://www.hostpic.org/images/2402072340030096.jpg ObiCertificate: |

And this is why I don't trust any Nigerian politician or political party. The ingrained and deeply rooted corruption of the Nigerian Political class crosses over political party boundaries. The bitter truth about Nigeria is that it is unworkable and a mere change of personnel in power will not bring about any change. Anyone with half a working brain knows what Nigeria's real problem is and how it can be solved, but Nigerians are too cowardly and unintelligent to accept the truth. |
The Abia State government has maintained silence over the budgetary allocation of N1.5billion for the purchase of “two number of Toyota Hilux” in 2024. SaharaReporters had last weekend exclusively reported how the Governor Alex Otti’s administration budgeted the amount for the purchase of two cars. Another N721 million was also budgeted and approved by the state assembly for the “Purchase of 2 No of Nissan Trucks for Government House”, a copy of the state’s 2024 approved budget seen by SaharaReporters had revealed. Despite condemnation from residents of the state and Nigerians at large, the Abia state government has however been silent on the incident. “How Abia govt and LP supporters have kept silent over the reckless spending/abuse of public funds in Abia by @alexottiofr is beyond comprehension. Does it mean, that's how they would have ran Nigeria if the party had won the 2023 presidential election? Too bad & shameful. Abia is dwindling,” a Twitter user posted. On December 28, 2023, Governor Otti assented to the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N567.2 billion. The governor had in a speech at the event said the budget would stimulate the economy and boost the socio-economic development of Abia. In the breakdown of the budget, N5,946,756,437 was budgeted for the purchase of motor vehicles, N2,704,980,600 for the purchase of vans, N949,000,000 for the purchase of trucks and N3,011,804,906 for the purchase of buses. This is different from the N105,000,000 approved in the budget to be spent on motorcycles and bikes. A further breakdown of the budget showed that N1.8 billion will be spent by the Governor’s Office to buy an unspecified number of motor vehicles. Another N412 million was also budgeted for the Governor’s Office to be spent on motor vans. The Governor’s Office also budgeted N712 million for the purchase of two units of Nissan trucks and N1 billion to buy brand-new buses. The budget further revealed how ministries, departments and agencies budgeted billions of naira for the same purpose. Some of the vehicle brands mentioned in the budget to be bought include Toyota, Nissan and Innoson. The amount was approved to be spent on new at a time when the state is borrowing to finance over 70 percent of the N567.2 billion budget for 2024. SaharaReporters had reported that the approved budget had a deficit of around N400 billion which the state said would be financed with local and external borrowings. The state’s revenue for 2024 in the budget was estimated at N166 billion which will be generated through grants from multilateral organisations, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), allocation from the Nigerian government and other income sources. In 2023, SaharaReporters reported how Otti spent a whopping N927 million within three months on refreshments/meals, settlement of honorarium, allowances, and welfare packages for the eggheads. About N737,922,661.25 was also spent to buy motor vehicles within this period. However, the quantity and the people the vehicles were bought for were never stated. According to a copy of the state budget performance obtained by the newspaper, the governor spent N223,389,889.84 on refreshments/meals, while N305,400,000.00 was spent on honorarium and sitting allowance for government officials between July and September 2023. The Otti-led government also claimed it spent N397,520,734.00 on welfare packages in the document. Meanwhile, N362,804,050.00 was spent by the Abia government to purchase trucks and another N400,890,000.00 was used for the purchase of buses. Also in the document, the government claimed that N252.4 million was used to run the Deputy Governor's office for 3 months. https://saharareporters.com/2024/02/06/abia-government-keeps-mute-governor-ottis-budgetary-allocation-n15billion-purchase-two |
Fiji.ng is usually more reliable than this. They're like People's Gazette and Sahara Reporters because they were designed to be independent and objective in their reporting. Something must have gone wrong for them to go off script like this. BitterTruth01: |
They don't operate in North Africa because their coverage is limited to Sub Saharan Africa. Secondly, Nigeria is their largest market but they only make 100 Billion Naira in Nigeria which at the current official exchange rate is roughly about $75 million, a very poor return on investment for a country with a population of 200 million plus. If you look at Sky which is also a subscription based satelite tv service just like multichoice, they made about 1.4 billion pound sterling profits from the United Kingdom alone in one year. The United Kingdom has a population of just 66 million. Multichoice is fighting a losing battle if they think they are worth more than what is being offered to them. SoNature: |
Given the current exchange rate, 227 Billion Naira is not as large as you think it is. In fact, if you break it down properly, the overhead costs of running Multichoice in Nigeria given all the environmental and infrastructural challenges would probably consume about half of that 227 Billion Naira.
