2mch:I just googled Ola Balogun - he started with documentaries, musicals and stage plays performed by Yoruba traveling theatres. He did try a couple of movies which were not successful (incidentally one of his movies was about an Igbo man's unfulfilled journey in Lagos) I digress, let us go back to Ola Balogun; he seemed to have shot a movie in Brazil and in Ghana, however Nigeria is the subject country, and Nollywood the subject industry I am including my reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ola_Balogun But I am not speaking about documentaries, stage plays, theater, or musicals. am speaking about full-lenth feature film,s mass produced and meant to be purchased individually for home viewing |
smokinloud:Young man, if you want to debate with me, do so without name calling. I am the wrongest person to engage in name-calling with And I am sorry, I do not engage in name-calling. I find that whenever people are losing an argument they resort to attacking the messenger so that the messenger will get angry and forget the message. I will not fall for that. If you go through my posts you will see that I don't get angry. God has blessed me to a point that I don't get angry - I laugh at situations. I am in a good place. On the other hand you are in Nigeria. Nollywood began in Aba (I do not speak of theater, cinema or TV broadcasts). A quick look in google will provide you with these facts |
2mch:No sir, the Yorubas started theater. I am talking about mass production of movies designed to be bought individually and watched at home. I am not talking about TV broadcasts. |
Ikpaitid:Bro, I am South-East/South-South. He does not speak for the average Igbo man. That he is typing Igbo is no guarantee that he is Igbo. I can speak basic hausa. |
naijapips04:My young man, name calling will not help the problem. And I am sorry, I do not engage in name-calling. Your annoyance is that I said you should stop blaming others and rise up and rectify the matter. Your problem is not Obi. You do not need Obi to salvage anything. A runner never looks back at competitors or distractions; his eyes are on the goal. I said Go in might and do what Obi could not do. PDP realignment will not happen on nairaland |
naijapips04:Can you begin the process of realignment? You keep mentioning Obi. Let him be. Shebi, he has spoilt it? I need you to raise an army of loyalists to be led back to PDP. Your suggestion is wonderful. Can you now execute it? |
smokinloud:The film industry. I am not talking about TV shows or sitcoms. It all started in Aba. |
naijapips04:There is nothing wrong with you my brother joining PDP, spending your money for PR, and gaining the trust of people and leading them back to PDP. Obi is not stronger, or wiser than you. You can do greater things than he has done. Stop the blame game; Just believe in yourself. |
naijapips04:Beautiful suggestion. Now have you joined PDP? Have you risen in ranks through PDP? Have you gotten an appointment through PDP? How are you using that appointment through PDP to help your brothers? How are you using your PDP appointment to gain the trust of your people? Do you know that you can remedy what Peter Obi "spoilt"? Go and do it brother. Go in might. Peter Obi is not your problem. What he can do, you can do greater |
naijapips04:Dear Sir, you did not provide a solution for your blames on PO |
You know what - Nigerians deserve their leaders. We are not different from our leaders. Let Tinubu take Nigeria wherever he wants to take it. I have just one relative to get out of this continent and we can all be praying for Nigeria for afar. This is ridiculous! |
Meti99:Please don't digress. Read the topic before commenting. This is not an Igbo versus Yoruba thread |
Okoroawusa:Bros, let us assume that Peter Obi has caused the whole Igbo tribe backwardness. He is the scape goat abi? As a oracle and a trailbrazer, tell us the solution. It is not enough to identify a problem. Provide the solution naijapips04: I am waiting for your answers to the questions I raised. Please tell the Igbos the way forward |
naijapips04:You see, you are part of the Igbos that instead of pulling their brothers up, look for the nearest person to blame. In this case, you are using Peter Obi as the scape goat. Okay, now you have found Obi, the scape goat, what is your solution. Can you provide a solution. It is wrong to be a person who is quick to find a problem but will not provide a solution along with the identification of the problem. Can you now propose a good solution? |
Neither Peter Obi nor Soludo is the problem of the Igbos. Igbos are the problem of themselves. Answer these questions ; Which tribe moved Nollywood from Aba to Enugu to Asaba and finally to Lagos? Which tribe has refused to develop the Ariaria market to world standards? Which tribe has refused to take advantage of the myriad of hotels in Imo state and turn that state into a tourist state? Which tribe is forcing themselves to sit at home? Is it the South-south? Is it Yoruba? Or Hausa? You, the OP, how many of your Igbo brothers have you established? How can you demand that Nigeria love you more than you love yourselves? Charity begins AT HOME. |
naijapips04:Please hush. What do you mean the SS is taking your rightful position. You are fanning flames of enmity. There is nothing like rightful position. Both south-south and south-east can prosper. What kind of trash talk is this? The polarization between Igbos and Yorubas has always been, yet we still lived together. The only difference is that social media is broadcasting hitherto hidden tribalism. Please there is nothing like rightful place. Who God has blessed, he has blessed. |
Deprofessional:As it should be |
Jokerman:Abia people are ready |
That's how it should be. Abia people mumu don do |
sageb:Perfectly said. I worked with Alex Otti and I believe he can do a good job South Easterners should make south-east great again |

I want to believe that you are from the far north, because if you are not you would know that Goodluck Jonathan, is not from the South-East. And this thread is strictly about happenings in the South-East |
Ogbuefi2020:You might call them economic Illiterates but they happen to have the most developed region in Nigeria AKA Lagos. if they are able to with their illiteracy trick other tribes into coming to develop their areas, and then turn back and tell those tribes that they cannot vote in a place where they developed, then maybe there is something to learn from them |
KEVIND:If Igbos can get 11 loyalists for every one traitor they can make the South-East great again. Do you know the impact Abia can attain if they have a working governor who can develop Ariaria market and their crafts business? Who moved Nollywood from Enugu to Lagos? It was Igbos who moved it. With all the hotels in Imo state do you know how easy it will be for Imo State to become a Healthcare city full of spas, and hospitals for advanced surgeries but the political class do not want to develop it |
Ogbuefi2020:Why can't Igbo people develop pride and call their bluff and develop their own area. Do you know that if Abia state can get a working governor, do you know that a developed Ariaria market in Abia can paralyze market activities in the South-South. As in the whole of South -South will have to go to Ariaria. Do you know what a well- run Onitsha market can do. Why was Nollywood allowed to move from Enugu to Asaba to Lagos? If a spouse continues to threaten the other with divorce, one day that threatened person should stand up and leave. |
baralatie:It's not about Biafra. It's about South-East. The South-West do not want then in their space anymore. Even denying then the ability to vote. The next logical thing is to focus on your own homeland. Has nothing to do with Biafra |
Ogbuefi2020:It's not about what we are falling or not falling for. In a sane society, Igbos ca now whatever they want, but they continue to be discriminated against in Yoruba land. I don't see threads being opened about Lebanese or Chinese people. For some reason, Yorubas just do not want Igbos in their space. In this elections Igbos are not being allowed to vote in Yoruba land. Even Yorubas that look like Igbos are not being allowed to vote. It's ridiculous but it is happening. The next thing after refusal to vote is the government will probably roll out taxes or increase taxes on property owned by people with Igbo sounding names |
KEVIND:Exactly, but who will speak up for the Igbos to have their own country. The Igbos need to raise powerful political juggernauts who can negotiate the breakaway of this country. The problem here is that the masses want their own country but the Igbo elite want to remain in Nigeria. Look at Elumelu aligning with Tinubu so openly, look at how most Igbo politicians insulted Peter Obi. Igbos have refused to understand that other tribes are not their problem; their enemies are in-house |
KEVIND:Igbos need to move these best infrastructure back to the east. They have powerful Igbo men who can push FG's buttons to get us a port in the East. The problem is our own people have sold us out |
princeade86:No, as someone with ties to the South-East the time has come for Igbos to look away from Lagos and look towards their own land. Even if they contribute their lives, they will never be accepted in Lagos. The key is for South -Easterners to vote good governors who will in turn put pressure on the FG to provide ports, that will solve the problem. |
Perhaps tribalist Yorubas can inflict so much hardship and discrimination that Igbos will be forced to look towards the South-East. |
