Guy you dey make me vex sometimes
Did you pass through internship?
Did you write qualifying exams after graduation.
Are you regulated by a council, guild or body?
Did you do courses that the pass marks were 50% and 60%?
Abi no be 40(E) be pass mark for BMS?
You studied pharmacology yet you think practising pharmacy is what they can just give to anybody. Even professionals like doctors, nurses,Mls are not allowed to operate a pharmacy not to talk of pharmacologists
HammedOlanaija:

So wait oo if pharmacology is under pharmacy in your school why are they, the the pharmacology students not allowed to practice, dispense or sale drugs after graduating like pharmacists

Family / Re: FAKE DRUG: My Experience And Questions by shollish(m): 10:30pm On Apr 30, 2020
Confront whom ever you bought it from
gingerlyx:
I showed a number of malaria symptoms in the week leading up to April 24th.I had increased thirst (had to take lot of water) fever, headache, fatigue, and body ache, but on Saturday April 24th, I experienced intense fatigue. These are familiar malaria symptoms to me, so I went to a Pharmacy to get an anti malaria drug.

I got a popular brand, (Drug Description: the name starts with an “L” and end with a “T” 24 tablets, 4 tablets per dose, Dosage Regimen, 2 doses per day for a total of 3 days) with NAFDAC Number boldly inscribed on it, due to expire August 2022. Need I mention that I had used this brand countless times over the years, and I can vouch for it.

Commenced usage (after meal of course) and few hours afterwards I developed a new symptom: an excruciating stomach pain so intense I was writhing in pain.

12 hours after the first dose, I took the 2nd dose after consuming a meal and a few hours afterwards I developed the stomach pain again. This time it caught my attention and I knew I couldn’t overlook this new symptom. Stomach pain is not a familiar malaria symptom to me. I considered discontinuing the use of the drug, but somehow I persisted and went ahead with the 3rd dose, after this, it was very clear something was trying to tear my digestive system apart. I was writhing in so much pain, I couldn’t speak. I spent the better part of that day lying down and clutching my stomach.
Inadvertently, I skipped the 4th dose, for a day, within the 24 hours, I felt the pain incessantly then it gradually became intermittently but still intense. I felt no other symptom indicating digestive tract infection ( No vomiting, No diarrhea, I wasn’t feeling as sick and I could move around.)
At this point I could still vouch for the quality of this drug, had used it countless times in times past, even for children and no unpleasant scenarios played out.

So I decided to proceed with the 4th dose, (it’s very important to always finish your dosage, even if you feel better prior). This time I decided to plant each tablet in a morsel of swallow, I don’t know what prompted me to do that though, but I did. After my meals I swallowed the tablet implanted morsels, few hours later the stomach pain started, it was continuous for hours. Without an iota of a doubt I knew there was a correlation between the anti malaria drug, and the stomach pain.
After I felt better I decided to check the genuineness of the anti malaria drug, so I scratched the silver panel concealing the pin and texted it to 38353 (I should have done this in the initial but for the trust I had in the brand). I sent the text a number of times and each time I got “Send Failed” reply.
SO
1. If I was administering this medicine to a child (½ adult dosage) I might have ignored or address stomach pain complaint with levity, thinking the child is definitely playing pranks to avoid the use of the medicine. What havoc that could cause.

2. Are the Manufacturers/ Pharmaceuticals behind this brand aware that there are thousands of counterfeits in the market? If they are aware what are they doing about it? The integrity of their brand is at stake.

3. Is the short code “38353” still valid for drug authentication? If not which short code is?

4. If an Individual is reasonably satisfied and comfortable to accept NAFDAC employment and remuneration from taxpayers’ money, then they should equally be comfortable and willing to perform the details of their Job Description without coercion or pressure. NAFDAC Officials should be held accountable.

5. What is the standard procedure for reporting occurrence like this? How can one report culpable Pharmacies and Pharmacists?

6. How can people in my neighborhood be informed about issues like this? Am lucky, what if others aren’t so lucky?
7. Should I politely confront the Pharmacist in charge of the Pharmacy I bought the drug from?

Are pharmacology students ,medical students?
HammedOlanaija:

Why will a basic medical student go into a strange field that doesn't team up with his/her credentials. And which company will in anyway employ a medical student in an accounting field. It's a reproach and absurd thing to do.
Education / Re: Fate Of Basic Medical Students After Graduation In Nigerian Universities by shollish(m): 10:22pm On Apr 30, 2020
That guy is has been whining about a lot, opening different threads and complaining. All these people that won't research well before they accept a course in university. Imagine him saying medical rep and working as an accountant is absurd for a BMS graduate. This one never even know wetin dey sup for 9ja. Reality go soon dawn on am
sherylbakky:
U are still saying this basic med with "igara"... LMAO grin

Nobody will even employ u in accounting field (they strongly deal with professionals)...we are talking about general banking e.g cashier, customer service/care or other organizations that also need less skilled worker like this.

At least to keep tins in place for a while, which does not mean u sud forget about ur dream.
If anyone have to tell u d truth, dat's d two options av given u.

Lecturing job is not also easy to get in Nigeria of today.

Salary in a community pharmacy varies and depends on how big the pharmacy is and your working hours,(full time or locum or superintendent) ranges from 40K to about 150K.
Intern depends on the hospital, most pay about 120K on the average
iaamxavier:

I've always wanted to ask what's the least salary a community pharmacist can earn??

And also how much do FG pay pharmacy intern?

Romance / Re: I Just Accidentally Found A Solution To Premature Ejaculation by shollish(m): 4:02pm On Apr 27, 2020
There is no drug for the indication "Premature EjaculatIon"
Its usually psychological
Only Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors like Sertraline has effect on Ejaculation due to its side effect of ejaculatory delay.
Take 50mg Sertraline and your cum button will be switched off as there would be enough serotonin in your brain, you would beg yourself to cum.
Some experts link it to low testosterone which can be resolved by going to the gym.
Some suggest numbing creams and sprays
Some suggest herbal supplement
However, some people have used all to no avail...psychology !

Pharmacies are most accessible to the public than the long waiting queue and high consultation at the hospital which majority cannot afford.
MrEgghead:
Which pharmacists are the first point of call? As in how?
Pls if you want to play a Doctor, get the MBBS degree..
Education / Re: Do You Think Pharmacologist Should Be Also Given License To Dispense Drugs by shollish(m): 12:14am On Apr 15, 2020
It's for those that want to further their academic knowledge, those interested in becoming lecturers in that field , we have MSC in Pharmaceutics, Pharm chemistry and the rest departments in pharmacy. Not all pharmacy graduates go for MSC
Bye
HammedOlanaija:

Am not telling you all pharmacy do pharmacology in their MSc pharmacology but am asking you why is there pharmacology for pharmacists in their MSc programme when they already did everything in their university
Education / Re: Do You Think Pharmacologist Should Be Also Given License To Dispense Drugs by shollish(m): 12:12am On Apr 15, 2020
Oga I'm not arguing with you self
Pharmacist are the first point of call in most scenario thus the need for pharmaceutical care.
Google Standard Pharmaceutical care practice,
it has being in place in developed countries for long. Nothing like Nigeria factor here
MrEgghead:
That's exactly what I've been talking about..
Your job is not treat any minor ailments, your job is to vet medicines and dispense the drugs prescribed the Doctor... It's only a lawless country like Nigeria that allows such trash..
The Doctors even suffer backlash from people owing to death after they must have been handled by quacks.
Education / Re: Do You Think Pharmacologist Should Be Also Given License To Dispense Drugs by shollish(m): 7:48pm On Apr 14, 2020
Well perhaps you haven't heard about pharmaceutical care. Pharmacists handle minor ailments because they are the most easily accessible and they know when the situation is above them to refer to appropriate authorities.
MrEgghead:
What about the diagnosis and prescription part?

Have told you in the other thread that some courses ought not to be studied in this country because there is no clear cut career path for their graduates.
HammedOlanaija:

Bro enough talk, you haven't answer a question in this thread. What will be your service to pple if you are working in a lab in nigeria in exchange for money?
Education / Re: Do You Think Pharmacologist Should Be Also Given License To Dispense Drugs by shollish(m): 4:09pm On Apr 14, 2020
I havent seen any pharmacist carrying out an invasive procedure or surgery so Expantiate please
MrEgghead:
You people know how to define your boundary with other professionals but can't define your boundary with Medical Doctors....How funny life can be!
Education / Re: Do You Think Pharmacologist Should Be Also Given License To Dispense Drugs by shollish(m): 1:17pm On Apr 14, 2020
Lol, the guy thinks studying just pharmacology will give him the full leverage over drugs. Pharmacology is just 1 out of 6 department in Pharmacy.
Drugs are not toys ! That's why every pharmacist has a practising license and is governed by a body.....please what knowledge of Advanced Dispensing,
Pharmacy Jurisprudence, Clinical Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry, Pathophysiology, Pharmacy Administration, Unit Operations, Supply Chain Management of Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Analysis/Synthesis, Quality Control, Antimicrobial Evalution, Biotechnology, Drug Design and SAR etc do you have? and you wanna delve into drugs?! Hahahaha abeg Go and pick D.E form, its not late
Period007:

Where u thought dispensing and practical dispensing while in school?
If yes, u can dispense
If no,go back to your lab.

They establish patent medicine store not a pharmacy premise
They can however establish a pharmacy premise if a pharmacist license is sought and paid for!
pelicanbeau:

Don't get me wrong here pls, I am only talking about technicians who had succeeded in working with a pharmacist and at the end of the day due to their on the job training went ahead to establish their own sales outlet which is very risky or haven't you seen or heard that before
