@citizen Y & Hardywaltz

It is people like you who are responsible for the kind of Nigeria we have today. What is wrong if Soyinka criticizes Nigeria. That ia a true Nigeria with a good heart. He is the only Nigeria can ca not even be accused one single corrupt act ever since he became popular.

That is a great man and he is the type of man who should rule Nigeria not that thief Jonathan who will soon steal as much as he can. You Nigerians make me wonder sometimes. We don't like good things that is why we will always be backward.

Politics › Re: Nigeria One Of Only A Handful Of African Democracies by Shoot2Kill: 8:36am On Feb 10, 2010
Paddy lo ,I am not saying this to burst your bubble but to state what the reality is. Nigerian democracy is scam and nothing to right home about. It took them over 50 dasy to act and you are celebrating. PDP is a corrupt party and sop is this monkey Goodluck whatever is name is. He won’t move Nigeria forward because he lacks the capacity to do so. I will make a better president than any of these morons because, I am legacy driven not greed driven. He will only embezzle money and in a few months from now we will be here condemning him. Have you forgotten that they were going to build him a  N7 billion naira home or have you forgotten that EFCC found $2million with his wife at the airport.

If you are celebrating then I am sorry for Nigeria, our troubles have just starte. The problem with Nigeria is not Yara Dua ,it is Nigerian politicians .Until a complete sweep is done ,Nigeria will forever remain backwards. Now let me analyse a few of those countries you have listed:

Egypt = Egyptian enjoy a better life style than Nigerians. There infrastructure is top notch and tourism industry is high class. Their economy is stronger than ours even though they do not have oil. There are enough jobs to drive the economy. The have the highest number of internet subscribers in Africa. The first country in Africa to build a solar plant.

Libya = Libyans enjoys a better life style than Nigerians. There infrastructure is top notch. Their economy is one of the strongest in the world and the oil money trickles down to the ordinary man of the streets of Libya. There are enough jobs to drive the economy. There is free medical care in Libya for all citizens.

Ethiopia = Ethiopians in diapsora have been investing in their country and Ethiopia even generates more electricity than Nigeria. They recently completed the construction of another power station. They have a very popular airline ,that is functioning properly even though they are a poor country. They universities are top notch and they never strike. Their telecoms is better than ours. There is free medical care in Ethiopia for all citizens.

Angola = Have you been to Angola recently to see how they are rapidly developing their infrastructure. Angola stadium are better than ours, Their roads and bridges are better than ours. In fact their infrastructure in the capital city is gradually approaching top notch status. Their tourism industry is also top notch. The telecommunication network is better than our Nitel. The boast one of the fastest internet network in Africa

Zimbabwe = Save for the farmers crisis that started in 2001 and the sabotage which the the British govt has orchestrated in the country. Zimbabwe was the bread basket of Africa under Mugagbe’s rule, the man took Zimbabwe to the greatest height possible. He got into trouble when he decided to take on the UK and they subsequently destroyed his economy in an effort to remove him from power. They rubbished his currency and ensured that he never recovered by placing sanctions after sanctions. His crime ? Because he asked the white farmers who are now in kwara to give some of the black zimbaweans a piece of their land and teach them how to farm like them. But the whiteys were greedy ,they refused to listen to him and he had no choice but to bow to the pressure of his people and kick them out. I was in zim two weeks ago on a business trip and I can tell you that the country is slowing getting up on it’s feet again. The UK lost they failed to remove him from power and now he is doing everything to leave a good legacy behind before he dies. The case of Zimbabwe is western sabotage so please research countries properly before assuming. Even with all the problems they have Zimbabwe universities remain of the best in Africa and electricity is stable, foreign investment is also slowing coming back to the country.

Gabon = The citizens are business minded people like and there are a lot micro businesses operating in the country. Rent and food is cheap in Gabon and the people are very happy people. There are actually many Nigerians in this country who are into spare parts trade and they are doing very well.

Morocco = Lovely country, you should visit, you will think you are in France, lovely and friendly people. There is law and order in the country and there is massive investment from the west. Their tourism industry is the bomb with exotic beaches. The people are happy and there are jobs for the educated, those are that are not educated engage in trade.

Swaziland = My wife is from Swaziland and I regularly visit Swaziland. It is a very peaceful country, too peaceful if i may add. The people are happy and they is massive agriculture. Minimum wage in Swaziland is $400.The standard of living is high and they there is extremely beautiful because it is on a mountain and the view are endless. Everyone you meet there is smiling at you and they are extremely honest. Electricity is 24hrs a day. Rent is next to nothing, food is even wasted because of the abundance. Their infrastructure in on par with South Africa’s. They boast exotic hotel and nature spas

What i am saying is that democracy does not guarantee a good life for the citizens of a nation. In my opinion democracy and in the case of Nigeria democracy promotes corruption. You can have kings and monarch and have a great nation. Here are examples of constitutional & absolute monarchical countries whose citizens enjoy a higher standard of living, better infrastructure and constant electricity more than Nigeria :

United Kingdom
Canada
Jordan
UAE
Saudi Arabia
Spain
Bahrain
Belgium
Brunei
Denmark
Japan
Oman
Qatar
Samoa
Tonga
Norway
Monaco
Kuwait
Malaysia
Thailand
Sweden
Netherlands
Luxembourg
Politics › Hired President In Nigeria by Shoot2Kill(op): 2:22pm On Feb 09, 2010
Now this topic is just for opinion sake I want to see what you all think about this idea. Our beloved country has existed for 49 years and has been lead by Nigerians for all those 49years.Unfortunately, Nigeria is still a very backward country. A country like South Korea which was a country recovering from war in 1960 has since licked it’s wounds and become one of the world biggest economies.

Have any of you ever thought about Nigeria having a fresh start? Military regimes have failed us, so has political parties. Is Democracy really made for Africa and Africans because if you look at Africa, democracy seems to be failing us? Democracy is a western system of government which was imposed on us. Can’t we as African create our own unique system of government which will be suitable for us? Even Ghana that everyone is shouting about is backward in terms of infrastructure and economic planning.

I have an idea that many people will hate. My idea is for Nigeria to do away with democracy and instead use a system whereby a panel of experts from various universities is set up to advertise the position of the president ,vice president ,governors ,ministers and other government positions in newspapers.

This panel will interview potential candidates from all over the world who will be interested in taking up these positions. The best candidates will be hired. The panel will control the Nigeria armed forces while the president and his colleagues will just be hired workers working to uplift Nigeria image and economy. The panel could be called the The Supreme Council of Nigeria. The panel will have the power to fire any president that is not performing ,while the people of Nigeria will hold elections every 5 years to vote in new panel members or retain the old ones. The panel will not interfere with the economy or handle the nation finances, the hired president and his hired cabinet will be in charge of boosting the economy and planning the nation’s infrastructures.

All budgets and spending in Government must be approved and signed by the panel before the president can have access to the funds. The nation’s fund will be in the coffers of the Nigerian Treasury ,no single individual will be able to sign a cheque or authorize a withdrawal ,all payments will only be made after all members of the panel as well as the hired panel have signed the withdrawal form.

In other words, the Nigerian government will become an organization which can be named the Nigerian Management Council headed by the hired president. These are just my thoughts; I will like to hear your views on this matter.
white presidency in Nigeria nko?

I don tire for Nigerians regardless of gender. You people simply cannot move beyond tribe and cult affiliation
I quite agree with you.A white president will be better off than a Nigerian .Just take a look at south africa ,two decades ago under white rule the country was a top notch country, there were jobs ,low crimes rates and low HIV rates. Now under black rule there is massive un employement ,extremely high crime rates and 6 million people infected with a HIV in a country of 40 million.

Everything we blacks touch ,we destroy,it is a sad fact but it is true.I will support a white president in Nigeria anyday ,imagine some one like Donald trump being our president.

Maybe we should advertise the job of the president in foreign newspapers and createa panel that will interview and appoint the best candidate for the JOB. I know some of the holy than thows will start throwing insults at me now.
Politics › Re: Positive Tribalism by Shoot2Kill: 11:42am On Feb 09, 2010
Ikengawo:
I have noticed that nigeria is not only deterred, but driven by a perpetual tribalism.

the same force that unites us in recent times has proven to be the force that is taking us to the top.
We all know that every nigerian believes their tribe is the greatest in africa, talkless of africa. there's nothing that pains me more then to see
another tribe dominating in something my tribe is second place in.

For every yoruba movie i see do well i want to see a bigger and better igbo one, and the rule applies for students, athletes, business,
media, and all other competitive aspect of a capitalist society.
not that i hate the yoruba or other tribes, or im jealous, but we all know we like to see our people, more importantly ppl from out specific areas and towns, at the top of everything.

i think this very nigerian frame of mind has driven a lot of positive development especially with the younger generation with music and movies.
That's why i welcome tribalism. Only in desperate times does it become dangerous, otherwise it's healthy and fuels ego based growth and who's ego can drive more growth then a nigerian?

after all, europe was built under the same mindframe. The French developed to other do the british, the british developed to out do the dutch, the germans developed to out do them all, and so forth.

ps igbos are currently winning at everything. grin (except music, i'll admit yoruba's are the best at it right now)
Tribalism is a colonial weapon which has been used to divide Africans. Nothing good comes from tribalism because instead of working together to make Nigeria better we are calling for a split.

The united states is made up of different people from all over the world but you see how every one who has US citizenship stands up to defend the USA. Take a look at the US army you will find arabs ,Africans, Europeans , Australians fighting in the US army and defending their country. Why is this so? Because the United States is built on unity and love of one another.

If we can be Nigerians first before being Yoruba, Igbo ,hausa ,Niger delta ,our country will be better off. It is because of tribalism that hausas in power do not want to relinquish power.

It is tribalism that led to the civil war, so nothing good come out of tribalism ,only violence and hatred.

I would rather see Nigerians compete against the world instead of amongst each other.

You guy don't stop to amaze me. So all these yapping about Igbo is divided, has no leader, OJukwu is disliked by his people no longer count anymore because the out come of the election did not suit your agenda of waiting to pounce to tell us how Ojukwu had been ignored by his people had it been that Obi lost?
That is what all this attention towards Ojukwu is all about all of a sudden.
All of a sudden, you are now telling us about old and new Yoruba generation. Who are this new Yoruba generation if I may ask? Being an elder is all of a sudden a bad thing, something you kept on about Igbo all the time about respecting elders? Suddenly it's no longer fashionable, just people Anambra people made a choice that was endorsed by their icon?

If you can't value an old generation like Ikemba, how can you value a new one? All the candidates in this election will die to have his endorsement.
If Fshola is great and valued as you preaching, who are those trying to impeach him? Hypocrites!!
Those who always value the only yam from their farm but call others useless tuber. It is not Ikembas duty or job to alleviate anybody's poverty or problem, that is down to those the people pays their taxes to, that is their job.
As for his legacy, just leave that to those it concerned and concentrate on what legacy your own father will leave behind instead of what it will be for another person's father or leader. Fix your own problem first, before branching to fix others, especially when you are not asked.
Haba!
You are an I D I O T for mentioning my father. My father is dead and his legacy lives on .He was a very popular lawyer and he did something in Nigeria that i am sure he is well remembered for(and no i am not talking about Gani or bola Ige). He also contributed to the liberation of Nigeria from the British while your Ojukwu was still a youngster so don’t even go there. Do a research on the Olora of Ekiti and you will know who my father was.

Mekus ,what about Mr mobolaji Bank Anthony,he was well documented and known:

Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony was a company director whose many business connections and social standing placed him in a position of great influence, although he never involved himself in party politics.Son of Mr. Anthony Bank-Anthony of Lagos, one of the country's pioneers in business, Sir Mobolaji was born in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa ), on June 11, 1907.

After attending kindergarten schools in Calabar, Nigeria and Lagos, Sir Mobolaji went to the Methodist Boys' High School and CMS Grammar School both in Lagos, and the Ijebu-Ode Grammar School in Ijebu-Ode. He joined the posts and Telegraphs Department as a clerk in 1924, resigning eight years later to work with his father in Lagos.

Sir Mobolaji set up his own business the following year, after a business trip to Germany. 'I started as a hawker of medicine and watches', he once said . 'By the end of World War II, I found myself in a good position and started to expand.'

Within four years he had floated four enterprises- The Nigerian Marble Industries, M. de Banks Transport (road transport), M. de Banks Brothers ( general merchants ) and Boroni Prono, Nigeria (construction). At the end of 1966, Sir Mobolaji was either chairman or director of over a dozen companies. Among them were Mobil Oil Nigeria, British Insulated Callender Cables, Pressed Metal Works, the Aero Contractors Company of Nigeria and the Tourist Company of Nigeria.

Sir Mobolaji was awarded the OBE in 1958 and knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1962 for his public services to Nigeria. A Christian and philantrophist, Sir Mobolaji was the president of the Lagos branch of the Young Men's Christian Association.

No, its not true except it is documented. The problem is that this is quite common- nigerians of all ethnic groups claiming to be the first africans. Of all the countries in Africa, it is always the yoruba and the igbo claiming to be the first millionaire, the first doctor, the first lawyer, the first cab driver, the first 419 artist (Of course we chop that one), the first bicycle rider, the first African  owner of a TV- they are always claimed by Nigerians grin

What about Egypt, Ghana, Senegal and a host of other African cultures- na u dey all be the first.

More on Ojukwu here
http://www.africansuccess.org/visuFiche.php?id=361&lang=en
Mekus did you read this part in your link ?

After 13 years in exile, the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Shehu Aliyu Usman Shagari granted an official pardon and opened the road for a triumphant return in 1982. His people of Nnewi gave him the now very famous title of “Ikemba,” while the entire Igbo nation called him “Dikedioramma” (Beloved hero). He was indeed a beloved hero. His foray into politics was disappointing to many, who wanted him to stay above the fray. Afraid of his supposedly overbearing and enigmatic influence, the ruling party, NPN, rigged him out of the senate seat, which was purportedly lost to a little known state commissioner in then Governor Jim Nwobodo's cabinet called Dr. Edwin Onwudiwe.

There is really no way Yoruba here will be satified with anything Igbo:
If Soludo won, they would have said Igbos voted for a thief and for the incompetent PDP (even though there is no charge against Soludo yet)
If Ngige won, they would have said Igbos voted for an Okija juju man
Now Obi won, it became about Ojukwu

Yoruba peps? Highly insatiable. grin
Mekuz u have started again ,so if Yoruba people are wishing Anambra the best ,is that a bad thing?

We are talking because we care, it is no secret that Anambra is a troubled state and it needs good leadership that can take the state to greater heights.

If we keep quiet it shows that we do not care, we are speaking because we care. A peaceful and progressive Anambra benefits every Nigerian.

Sorry about your dad's burnt house but aside was your dad some kind of politician that went wrong?

Sorry about the cannibalistic statement.I just did not get the direction of your bringing up Ekiti. However the video i was talking about is in this nairaland.

As for Peter Obi believe me people that voted for him would have stiil gone for him with or without Ojukwu's endorsement. It is not like Ojukwu held agun ob peopll's head to vote for Obi.If for anything you have said to have mingled with igbos and your experience should let you know that igbos are generally independent minded so much so they they are tagged as being uncooperative with each other which is translated by others as being 'not united'.
It is ok bro,  no my DAD was part of the Action Group in those days(I come from the Babaxxx family) My uncle was the Olora of Ekiti. To be honest with you my Dad never gave me the full details of why his house was burnt down, all he told me was that the people were against his affiliations in the party and decided to teach him a lesson. Ekiti people are kolo when it comes to politics.

No I was brought up in Lagos, i only visited Ekiti on holidays.

We are all fighting for the same things. I want to hear good news about Anambra not bad news. The more states that gets developed in Nigeria the better. Lagos and Abuja should not be the only ones receiving attention. Governors should be competing amongst each other trying to develop their states faster than other states. That way Nigeria will improve collectively.

What makes you think Obi is not the best candidate to lead Anambra? Do you know that Ojukwu is the head of Obi's party? And if you know this, would you expect him not to support his candidate?
To be honest with you I was not aware of that until someone mentioned it earlier. I have no beef with OBI. My first comment if you care to go back was in response to the poster saying that he accepts a candidate he did not support because IKEMBA backed him. That is the kinds of statement that scares me about Nigeria.

Obi might be the best candidate out of all the ones contesting but people who did not originally support him should not come here and say they did now support him because Ojukwu supported him. Those kinds of statement equate Ojukwu to a Demi God and that should not be so.

Long before Ojukwu was born IGBOS have been known to be great people .IGBOS were the first blacks to build a double story building in Africa long before the whites touched our shores so I hope you understand what I am getting at.Ojukwu is not IGBO’s greatest asset.

I thought it is the Igbos that are regarded as not respectful to their elders  huh

Emperoh Olu i do not expect you to tow this line that Ojukwu allowed the massacre of igbos?Who massacred the igbos in northen nigeria in '66 i mean the progroms? It is Ojukwu right? Please choose your words carefully or maybe you do not have an idea of that part of nigeria's history.

By the way which ekiti? The same ekiti that is always in the news for barbarism, violence and some bits of cannibalistic behavouir from some of their Government functionaries as seen in a video once shared here on nairaland during the last elections?Abeg give me a break.
Bro I did not mean it like, what i am saying is that he led IGBOS to fight against the north and it resulted in a senseless massacre that will forever haunt Nigeria and Nigerians. Is that the only thing he wants to be remembered for? Shouldn’t he all these years have done something more positive and violent free in IGBO land?

With the kind of clout he has in IGBO land he should have brought in investors and created jobs for IGBOS but he did not because he does not know how to go about it. On the other and there are many young IGBOS like yourself who have great ideas on how to move IGBO land forward and these are the people who should be at the forefront of IGBO leadership not OJukwu .Ojukwu is an Icon in IGBO land but he should not be a deciding leader because in this modern age he lacks the right ideas to move Igbo land forward just like Oni of ife or afeni fere lacks the ideas to move Yoruba land forward.

When I mention Ekiti ,I am talking about how the Ekiti people do not give a rat’s azz about their leaders. My father ran away from Ekiti in 1983 when his house and brother’s palace was burnt down by angry mobs.

By the way I resent your statement about some Ekiti politicians being cannibals, i did not insult Anambra citizens or IGBOs so please retract your statement, it was uncalled for.

My argument on this thread is for the best man to lead Anambra state or any state of Nigeria and for Nigeria to stop following the leaders of the old era. As long as we dwell on the past we will not be able to plan the future properly. It is the memories of the past and the divide and rule politics played on us by our older generation of politicians that have divided us along tribal lines.

I don't give a be intimate with where you crawl out from, your advise is for Igbo to have a 35 year old leader, well choose a 35 year old leader for the Yorubas you claimed to be before prescribing it for us and from what I can see, Dimeji Bankole is not far from the age of 35 and he is not setting any fre on the mountain. Ojukwu is one of few people in that God forsaking country you cant point corruption toward him. His father was once richer than any African and he is a omfortbale man, while his peers become overnight billionaire farmers even though from poverty crippled families,
Yes i will choose a 35 year old leader if I could but the older generation is in still place and they have the resources to pollute the minds of some youths and use money to win election for their preferred candidates. I don’t care if Ojukwu’s grand daddy was “thousandner”. The question i asked you is how many young IGBO lives has he actually changed for the better. Look at Mandela , Mandela initiated the BEE program and changed the lives of ordinary black South African for the better. Within 8 years of Mandela’s rule ,South Africa produced it’s first black billionaire through mining. Today no foreign company can invest in South Africa without having a black south African partner.

What has IKEMBA done in Anambra to alleviate poverty? This is a simple question that none of you has answered.

The role of a leader is diverse and part of it is to improve the lives of his people not just to sit around and be praised for a daring feat he commandeered over 3 decades ago.

What is the legacy Ojukwu will leave behind when he dies ,the legacy of civil war ? Is that all? No legacy of poverty alleviation, job creation, community building, skill development, scholarships?

You say he is not corrupt but you have forgotten that he dined with Abacha huh

Any one who dines with Abacha is corrupt!

One day I will hold you to that bold statement, don't you ever forget it. It comes from your mouth.
Meanwhile Ojukwu is still alive and his time is not over yet and when he is dead, it will neither be over.
I support sjeezy on this one.Dude take a look at Ekiti, you will realize that in Yoruba land there are no clear leaders. The fight in Yorubaland now is between the old generation and the younger generation.

We the young generation of Yorubaland refuse to bow to the older unintelligent generation and I hope the IGBOS will follow suite as this is the only way we can right the wrongs of the past and repair the tribal divisions that has plagued Nigeria.

Ojukwu may be alive but he represents the Old era of Nigeria that allowed the unjust massacre of IGBOs all in the name of power. My comments show that i wish Anambra the best, I want Anambra and other states of Nigeria to have a Governor that is as good or even better than fashola so that the whole of Nigeria can develop and progress at a rapid rate.

Your ranting only exposes the pathetic and evil mind of you ill bred basta.rd. Get a life!! sad
@ metal gong = I will not satisfy you with a reply because you lack the decorum to have a civilized conversation.

@ Eziachi = I am not an IGBO expert ,i am a Nigerian of Yoruba descent. I am for “new” young Igbo leaders (under the age of 35) to come out and lead the IGBO people to greater heights. Ojukwu will not do it for you because all he does is remind you of the civil war. A man of Ojukwu’s calibre has lost his self respect by getting involved in the election and supporting one candidate over the another. He is supposed to maintain a father figure and not get involved but as usual the greed in him takes over. Only God knows how many “Ghana must go bags” that must have been transported from the state house to the IKEMBA’s house just for him to endorse Obi. I am also sure members of IKEMBA’s family will also get contracts in the state.

In Yoruba land I don’t give a rat’s azz about any of our current leaders. If I had my way I will execute them starting from oni of ife because they are crooks. My point is this. If you are below the age of 35 and you are worshipping Ojukwu ,Awo, Azikwe, Oni of ife e.t.c then you are a dummy. Hate me all you like ,I am speaking the truth and you know it deep in your hearts.

At first bolded angry grin cheesy

At second bolded how is hosni mubabrak an influential person huh
Yes he is to a certain extent because he a close ally of the United States and because of the role he plays in the Israeli- Palestine conflict. He helps the USA in the fight against Hamas and allows the USA marines to use his air space. He also secretly (it has to be secret because he is a muslim)negotiates between the Isreali and Palestine government over gaza strip conflict.

He has been in power for a long and like Gadaffi has been very influential in the North Africa /Arab region. I mean if you compare him to someone like Soyinka for example, Soyinka has done nothing in the international community. But Mubarak's name comes up on a regular basis in news bulletins especially when the Isreali/Palestine conflicts erupts.

Ezenwenyi:
INEC has announced the incumbent Governor of Anambra state Mr Peter Obi of APGA as the winner of the February 6th 2010 election in Anambra state. The question is: Was the February 6th gubernatorial election in Anambra state FREE AND FAIR? I have spent hours trying to get an answer to the question, and the more i try the more confused i get.The fact remains that Mr Peter Obi was in a better possible to win because
1. In a free and fair election, the people must have voted OBI because of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu.Igbo people will always honour the wish of Dim Ojukwu the Ikemba of Nnewi.
As for me, I don't believe in the recycling of governors, hence the reason i would not for one day support the likes of Mr Peter Obi and Ngige though Ngige won in the poll i organised, Anambra state e-election in Nairaland. If i accept Peter Obi as the governor of Anambra state,i am doing that because of IKEMBA.
2. As the incumbent Governor,he is also in a better position to rig the election, irrespective of the thousands of corrupt police men sent to Anambra state by the Federal Government.Andy Uba and Soludo must have rigged the election too,but maybe the power of incumbency prevailed.
So if IKEMBA asks you to starve your relatives or kill your relatives you will comply? Or if IKEMBA ask you to support Yara Dua you will accept? Sometimes you IGBO people make me wonder and to think that it is the educated ones amongst who succumb to these nonsensical ideologies.

I think IGBOS should start thinking with their brains for once instead of tribal pride, it will go a along way in making your lives better. These are the same people who want to form a new nation. If you all worship Ojukwu this much then the IGBO race is doomed. This guy is an old timer who has done more harm than good to IGBOS, this is the same dude who was rubbing shoulders with Abacha and you  IGBOS still worship him this much huh

This is the same ideology that many Nigerian has adopted in Nigerian churches by worshipping pastors instead of worshipping GOD. Nigerians are really twisted. I thank GOD i don’t worship anyone where I come from. No one is my leader or GOD except the GOD of Abraham.

In my eyes Ojukwu is an irrelevant baboon who should not even matter in today’s Igboland. If you elect him as president he will become a dictator because he has characteristics of being a violent gangster who likes to do things by force. There are many educated and intelligent IGBOS in diaspora who can lead the IGBO nation to greater glory. IGBOS should look to the younger generation for leadership and new ideas on the way forward not an old beat up crocodile like Ojukwu who has emotionally imprisoned most IGBO people’s minds.
are you a nigerian?
Born and bred but at the same time a realist. I call a spade a spade and do not allow my patriotism to my country cloud my judgement. Nigeria has no clout, the world media affirms that everyday that passes. If we had clout, the world will not sit by while our leader is MIA. You think the French president will be missing for two weeks and the USA and Britain will keep quiet. If we had clout ,Nigeria will not be labelled a terrorist nation while a country like Yemen is not.

We don't mean squat in the world, to them we are as important as cockroaches who feed on dirt. We are perceived as parasites who infest foreign countries only to go and commit heinous crimes. The world sees us a nation of criminal minded barbarians and that is why they were bold enough to not only make the movie DISTRICT 9, name the Nigerian leader in the movie obasanjo but to drive their point home, they applauded the movie and nominated it for several awards. We are not famous ,we are infamous.

Do you think Hollywood can dare make a movie like that of china now that USA’s economy is limping and relying heavily on china to help it get back on it’s feet?

@Godalaone  = I think you should check the term “internationally influential” before you start saying my comments have no connection with the subject.

When you talk of influential people, you talk of:

Nelson Mandela
Mahatma Gandhi
Martin Luther King Jr
Hosni Mubarak
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan
Bill Clinton
Benjamin Netanyahu
Bill Gates
Chung Un-chan
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
King Abdullah Bin-Abd-al-Aziz Al Saud
Vladimir Putin
Silvio Berlusconi
Hu Jintao
Nicolas Sarkozy

@poster.

Is it also NIGERIANS that are responsible for the 50 homicides per day that happens in SA?
Yes it is true that tthere are 50 homicides per day in SA and i am sure there are over 50 homicides per day in the USA but that does not give us Nigerians the right to go to other people's countries and commit crimes that will tarnish the image of our nation. How many South Africans do you find in Nigeria selling drugs or pimping women? Instead South African companies are coming to Nigeria to create businesses and create jobs for Nigerians. MTN ,Mnet ,Shoprite ,Game and Stanbic bank are just a few of the SA companies in Nigeria contributing to our economy.

The Hawks have smashed what is believed to be a major drug smuggling ring. They have arrested six people during raids in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

One of the suspects was arrested in Cape Town and the other five in Johannesburg. All of them are Nigerian. The raids were carried out in Cape Town, and Carlswald in Midrand, Germiston and Dainfern in Gauteng.

Officers together with the Asset Forfeiture unit also seized $150 000, a locked safe, the house in Carlswald near Midrand, and three vehicles. The Germiston property is believed to belong to the company used by the suspects to launder money.

The arrests form part of project Chameleon which has been focusing on a network involved in the smuggling of drugs from South America to South Africa.

Meanwhile, a woman suspected of being a drug mule has been arrested for allegedly carrying drugs valued at about R1.6 million at the Cape Town International Airport, Western Cape police said today.

Inspector November Filander said the 26-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after a tip-off that she would be flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town in the late afternoon. On searching her luggage, police found 4.5kg of tik hidden in cereal boxes. The woman is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate's Court tomorrow to face possession of drugs charges.

Make una go siddon. There is no Nigerian alive that has international clout. We are not respected by the world ,we are the butt of jokes. Stop deceiving yourselves. Ask any teenager in the USA ,England or South Africa who obasanjo or soyinka is and they will give you a blank stare. Even our prized Prof emeagwali is not known.

Nigeria is only known for Bad things, the world does not see us as good people or relevant people. Ask any teenager in the world who the drug dealers and scammers are and the name Nigeria will easily pop out of their mouths

Ask anyone in the world who Mandela or Obama is and trust me you will get a good response. We have made our bed and we are now lying on it. Nigeria has no clout whatsoever so people please stop trying to make yourselves feel good. If these people you have mentioned above have clout ,BBC will not dare play the tape of a fake Yara dua on international TV.

The people you guys have mentioned above may have clout in Nigeria but the clout ends at Muritala international Airport. From there on they are just bloody irrelevant Nigerian Niggaz.

P.S Please tell me which international decisions taken in the international community any of the above named Nigerians have influenced?
Politics › Re: Support Rally For Yardua by Shoot2Kill: 9:36pm On Feb 06, 2010
I have read all your comments and I think it is time I butt in. I will love to say a lot of things but I will try to cut it short.

This rally has got nothing to do with IGBOS,this is a simple matter of greed. I am a Yoruba by the way. Please Nairalanders let us stop all this tribalism ,we are worse than the politicians when we attack other tribes.

Now let get to the main point of my comment .There are different types of Nigerians:

1-Uneducated but honest Nigerians
2- Uneducated and greedy Nigerians
3-Edicated and greedy Nigerians
4-Educated and honest Nigerians
5-Uneducated but naturally intelligent Nigerians
6-Uneducated and naturally silly Nigerians
7-Educated and naturally intelligent Nigerians
8-Educated and naturally silly Nigerians
9-Uneducated, silly, greedy, clueless overseas based Nigerians
10-Educated, silly, greedy overseas based Nigerians
11-Educated, good natured, intelligent overseas based Nigerians

The list is endless but these are the ones I can come up with on the spur of the moment. Our Mindset as Nigerians is extremely faulty. We need reset our minds and look outwards to see what other people are doing in other countries to make their country better. Unfortunately Nigerian is the only country in the world that seems to produce greedy ,corrupt and un intelligent intellectuals.

Abeg tell them jare!

@ilaje-Igbo, who told you i don't believe in GOD? Dude read your bible understand instead of listening to your fake azz pastors. We need the techniques use in the old testament (war) and the new testament to free. Nigeria will not be free without blood being shed period. You may not understand that now but maybe you will when the hausa have finished killing people you know. I am a pure Yoruba man and i regret what my elders in in 1966 because we the young generation are paying for it now. Whether Nigeria remains one or splits, I really don't. I just want my country to progress instead of regressive. It will not happen until we assassinate all these politicians.
