Rover 600 series is the only model I would advice anyone to buy in Nigeria.

The 600 series all run Honda engines and transmission, with the exception of the 620Ti, (Rover T-series) which was a turbocharged 2,0 16V Rover K-series engine, and the sluggish (and thankfully rare) Rover 2,0 diesel.

As per parts, parts are as common as those for the similar year Honda Accord, which was mechanically similar to the Rover 600, and shared pretty much all body panels, bar the bootlid, rear bumper, bonnet, front bumper, as well as lights both ends.

The Rover 45, is pure Rover K-series, and one to avoid, unless you're handy with the spanners, and have a good source of spares. The cylinder heads on all K-series Rover engines is the weak point. Once they blow head gaskets, the cylinder heads are seldom any use, even once fitted with a new gasket, and the surface skimmed, they will still leak, and boil the coolant. If you're unlucky, the cylinder block will be dead too! I've lost count of the K-series engines I've worked upon - either in terms of expensive rebuilds, or outright replacement.

My choices for use / sale in Nigeria?

Rover 618 1,8 16V (Honda unit).
Rover 620 2,0 16V (Honda unit).
Rover 623 2,3 16V (Honda unit).

Avoid the 45 - all were Rover K-series, and one of the most unreliable engines ever resided within the externally attractive bodyshell.

It's very sad to know that people like PT Consult still exist in here, a dump move I must say. I’ve always been a fan of the Auto Section and by God's grace come June my car will arrived from the United States under this same pre-order arrangement, there are still trusted dealers in the house. With that said, I still don't want to be believe it’s  difficult tracking PT Consult since our local banks were involved. All that is needed is the evidence of the transactions, a law enforcement agency like EFCC gets a court order requesting for the account details of the alleged fraudster which the bank can't not refuse to honour according to Bank and other financial Institution Act “BOFIA” the bank has a right to disclose. If the alledge fraudster can't then be reached with the details provided the Bank becomes liable since that's what KYC is all about (Know you customer)

The question remains if the affected parties are ready to retrieve their funds because involving the EFCC is not rocket science. There is an EFCC office at Ikoyi to start with, where complaints can be made.
