There's an Italian painter, named Carlotti, and he defined beauty. He said it was the summation of the parts working together in such a way that nothing needed to be added, taken away or altered, and that's you. You're beautiful. Nicolas Cage in the movie NEXT |
when I see images like this, I pray for Gods mercy upon this generation because i doubt if Sodom and Gomorrah did half as these |
And I would never have believed that speaking in tongues really meant anything worthwhile until one day at home, my flat mate then returned from his church HICC quoting a dynamic preacher who was an invited guest and at intervals in his message would say 'ihon ihon'. I could only but inform him that by my dialectical translation, it meant 'i have heard, i have heard'. Coming from yoruba preacher with zero understanding of the Esan language? I feared God and His ways the more. |

This week in History; Somewhere in the highbrow of Benin City, I strolled out amidst 9 other contestants for a soda drinking competition thinking it was a walk over. We were 4 guys and 6 gals. After everything No guy made top 5. It was a call for sober reflection. ![]() |
my people perish for lack of knowledge. . . |
We say in Africa what you don’t know would not harm you. Pal, need I tell you that this generation has defied many of these traditional sayings of the ‘elders’. What you don’t know can actually harm you really big. Is that not why it is called the information age? When knowledge can be gotten at the blink of the eye. Google and other search engines have really made knowledge in almost any sphere so handy that we have become intellectually bloated. So who can lay claim to ignorance as an excuse? Talking about ignorance, do you know that what you don’t know about your health could be your greatest undoing? We often like to feel like supermen, submerged in work with little consideration to our health. You hear people boasting that they haven’t been to the hospital in ten years. Others would say they don’t take drugs when ill, claiming a cup of milk mixed with malt and vegetable extract is the one time cure to any kind of illness they feel. Their hypothesis is not for me to argue but I remain resolute on my stance. Medical surveillance is the best approach to life in this generation. Enter Late Steven Keshi. An iconographic Nigerian with many medals as a player and a coach on the field of football. He died of a cause which can be prevented under the right circumstances (high blood pressure). Wale Akinsanya former chairman of Oyo state referee society also died recently after a FIFA cooper test. The special attention on Nigerians as references is to drive home the point. This isn’t an abstract phenomenon, but something that affects us as Nigerians. Triggers for these deaths would have been identified and preventive action taken had medical surveillance been carried out. Medical surveillance as defined by the US department of health and human services is the systematic assessment of employees exposed or potentially exposed to occupational hazards. The assessment monitors individuals for adverse health effects and determines the benefits of exposure prevention strategies. The purpose of medical surveillance is for the early identification of conditions that could pose a risk. I was having a conversation with a friend recently and was surprised a cup of ice cream was declined. Who declines a cup of ice cream I asked myself. Upon probing, my attention was brought to the cholesterol content of the ice cream. Now it wowed me that a Nigerian cared about such. Lean-looking fellow, but the cholesterol level was way high. A potential death had just been averted. So next time you see a fellow boasting of never visiting the hospital, do well to educate that person on the benefits of medical surveillance. Also you can walk into any ISO certified Laboratory nationwide for laboratory investigations that help identify triggers early. Thanks E.X http:///2do7Dw3 |
You might need to fetch words to describe mine, but here is my story. I was driving from sapele road into G.R.A in benin, just after santana market and decided to follow an unfamiliar street. Though it was narrow, cars were packed on both side of the road (a party was happening in one of the compounds). Brotherman squeezed the Nissan Lauren through the tiny space and heard one sharp sound as he passed. Got out of the car up front came down and saw that i had drawn a big straight line on a black toyota, looked around and did not see anyone, quietly entered the car and zoomed off with out looking back. this was years ago tho |
God bless your generation yet on born for bringing me this nostalgia. Edible worm i heard it is called. The taste is priceless. |

wordbank:she is prospectively losing a business in this harsh economic times due to her bitterness. I stand between her company and a good contract without her even knowing. |
Guys, I would make this as brief as possible. I dated this lady for a while sometimes last year and things didn't work out too fine. The reasons bothered on her insecurities and all that. fastforward 2016 we hooked up again and all plans to get her to a table for conversations went in flames of her anger. she asked me to never contact her again swearing obscenities all because I asked we meet. she even went ahead to delete me from all her platforms, facebook, tweeter, linkedin etc Yesterday my manager asked me to draft a proposal to some companies for prospective business, and looking through a list of seven companies, hers happens to be among. We need just one of them as our clients. I have been pondering on her company since yesterday thinking of what to do with it, especially in this buhari regime. |
He wins the race for ideas and congruence, the better of the bunch. But as much as my heart goes for him, my hunch knows he wouldn't win. The clouds are heavy but there would be no umbrella to cover. #thepainfultruth |
My dad! An iconographic Nigerian. I say this not boastfully but with every respect I have for his thoughts on nationhood, his pain on our many divisive lines (tribal, religious, political) and his passion for a new Nigeria. It isn’t like he is from Mars though (as some of his ideas are heavily debatable) but passion with which he communicates his ideas tell that it stems from his heart’s depth. I have seen this over and again, in write-ups, speeches, arguments, pep talks etc. Concerned populace communicating what they understand as ideal and how far we are from the ideal as a nation. This is what I would call Nigeriatopia. Benchmark for these inferences always stem from observations from other climes, especially the west and Asia. So back to my dad. In keeping up with trends, he devours information especially news from the political sphere. News Stations from Nigeria, to Ghana, U.S.A, Middle East, Africa, the man is just info savvy. I may be wrong, but I am sure he knows commencement times for all his favorite news stations. And woes betide your constellations should you be the source of his distractions at such ‘holy’ hours. I remember him returning from work earlier than usual years ago, just to confirm rumors of the death of a despot on national television news. The dailies are no exceptions, as he has developed a routine of filling his spare time with newspaper glances. Then came the blessed day that I suggested to him, that he could do his newspaper reading at his convenience on his tab and cut down on the mental agonies of days he missed getting his dailies. The man beamed with surprise and heaped his blessings after schooling him through it with his tab. But recently I got to know that that was to my own undoing. I got to my country home recently and as is my tradition, headed to his archives for my review of the dailies. My shock knew no bounds while I perused through, seeing dailies dating months asides Sunday dailies. I saw it coming, but I knew it was for a greater good. Teaching him this meant that my thrifty dad would abandon the hard copy dailies entirely. My stay may have been poorer on newsfeeds but richer in understanding. It brings me to distant thoughts on the state of affairs in our northern brothers. Of amajiris and a system that thrives on ignorance, illiteracy being used as a weapon to perpetuate poverty and separate classes. I imagine the amount of waste that would be done away with should knowledge be multiplied in that region. The effect it would have on the psyche of individuals, debated feedback to unreasonable requests from political or religious leaders, value it would place on human life, accompanying religious tolerance but to mention a few. As my dad’s saying goes, ‘if you say education is expensive, try ignorance’. I am still waiting for Nigeriatopia By E.X |

fellis:plenty thanks. But methinks it defeats the aim if they get to mingle with themselves. There is need for a cross-fertilization of ideas across generations. I once had a pal as such an it was hyper engaging, as our conversations could span hours non stop. We could reduce the language thingy to two tho, but premium is on refined world view from african perspective. |

stsinner:mind you, the bible employed modesty in that conversation. Methinks it buttresses the fact that the bible recognizes human desires (male & female) and creates an atmosphere for expressing such (marriage). Remember she was in that conversation with her family and was about to be married out. Also keep in mind verse 7, the conversation of love and many waters. My take home is, God expects us to find love and seal that love in Holy matrimony. it is also a call to ladies for grooming and self preparation. Her having to show to boast of her physic and her brothers speech about her tells of one that has been nourished with attention and care. |
i dont think it was an ordinary conversation.please read verse 10 again"i am a wall,& my breast are like towers...". Juell:bro i think u got it muddled up. Remember Solomon was a king that had understanding in vast area of human endeavors, and love wasnt an exception. That passage was a conversation between a lady and her brothers, who had vowed to stand by her despite her disposition. It emphasizes solidarity and the willingness to stick to your own inspite of its/his/her short comings or strength |
THERAPEUTIC TREK Sunday evening at a fast-food chatting and feeding my eyes with people’s tables, thinking of what to fill my plate with. Chicken and chips with ketchup and two bottles of soft drinks. Yummy right? Before wetting your food track in gluttony, this was the menu, two tables from mine. It caught my eyes not because of its allure but the seven year old bear-sized light complexioned male and his mum waiting to fall on the plate. I wonder why his mum couldn’t see that she was plotting medical suicide for the young lad by such diet in a short while to come. Contrastingly earlier that weekend I was at the gym and saw parents bring their kids for various forms of exercises jogging, walking, cycling, karate and it was an amazing sight. Asides the health benefits imagine the bonding it does to families, fathers cheering their sons, mother and workouts with their daughters. So recently Pathcare partnered with The Bridge Clinic and the Aspire Advocacy group for a fertility walk. I considered not only the awareness perspective but also the health implications. Mayo clinic stated implications of such walks as; 1) Helps lower bad cholesterol (LDL) 2) Helps increase good cholesterol (HDL) 3) Lowers your blood pressure 4) Reduces risk of (or helps manage) type 2 diabetes 5) Helps manage your weight 6) Regular brisk walking reduces the risk of heart attack by the same amount as much more vigorous exercise, such as jogging. Ever wondered why bus conductors and hawkers are amongst Lagos’ healthiest (trust me asides the hard drugs, they are), it is due to their ever exerting lifestyle. E.X

Epic! who would have believed? 1) that nokia 2310 would be a relic in 2016 2) that marketers would be chasing me with network sims for free that once sold for 32,000 3) that a phone would hold apps like touch light, camera, skype etc Nostalgic |
Aisha Buhari cancels planned trip to US
Jun, 2016
by AljazirahNigeria
The Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has cancelled her scheduled trip to the United States of America for the World First Ladies Conference holding at Colorado. Many Nigerians had hoped Aisha Buhari would have used the opportunity of the visit to put to rest the controversies surrounding her name in the Halliburton bribery scandal. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State had earlier claimed that Aisha Buhari has been avoiding the United States because of her alleged involvement in the scandal, reports News 24. Rather than attend the conference, the President’s wife has opted to perform the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia. The media director in the Office of the Wife of the President, Zakari Nadabo, who announced the cancellation of the US trip, however, did not give any reason for Aisha Buhari’s decision. |
