Properties › Re: Having Issues With My Landlady, I Need Your Honest Advise by Shusher: 8:53am On Dec 15, 2021 |
NCE1: I'm currently having issues in the place I stay, I am a student that rented an apartment close to school, and ever since this landlady and her children have been a thorn in my flesh and even other neighbors.
Let me narrate what happened. I'm not a perfect grammar person and please read to the end.
In the place I stay, there's a well we fetch water from, so last week Sunday the well was locked up, which was very unusual... It was locked up from morning till night, nobody in the compound could access water.. I couldn't cook nor bath, so in the evening I decided to go ask the landlady why the well was locked and ask for the key so I can get water.
On getting to the landlady's place, I greeted her and asked calmly why the well was locked up, before I knew what was happening her son came out and told me to get out of there... I was very shocked and surprised, that I came to ask for the key to the well and he just tells me to walk out like that.
I told him I'm here to ask why the well was locked and collect the key, and that I cannot just walk out like that.
Before I knew what was happening, the boy started getting aggressive and he was threatening that he would kill me and was making all sort of threats, before I knew it... He attacked me, both the mom and the son with their last daughter.
They pushed me to the wall, which I sustained an injury at the back of my hand, the landlady was trying to get me naked by pulling the short I was wearing... I wore this short because I wanted to collect the key, fetch water and take my bathe.
So as she was trying to pull down my shorts and get me naked, I had to bite her a little so she could release her hand from my shorts.
The neighbors gathered because of the noise and saw the three of them against me. Then I left there and went and open the well which they padlocked, then they came down and insisted that nobody would use the well.
It was then that someone told me the reason why they locked the well was because the son of the landlady had an issue with someone early in the morning while the both of them were fetching water and he locked up the well to deal with the person... Thus causing inconveniences for the remaining tenants.
The next day they(landlady and her son) went to the police to report the matter.
And they lied to the police that they locked up the well because the tenants were polluting the well. Then they reported that I came to their house to attack them and I bite her.
Then the police came and took me and the neighbor that had disagreement with the son that resulted in them locking up the well.
We left the police station that same day and we went back in two days time for interview.. At the interview the police asked us to settle the matter amicably, but they proposed that they want to go to court and if we don't want to go to the court, that we'll have to pay the sum of 50k.
The 50k is for the money she used to treat herself, which is a lie. One of the neighbor in the compound overheard her making arrangements with a pharmacist to manipulate the bill of drugs she got.
And aside that, up till now they have refused to open the well for the whole compound to use, but they themselves are still using it, despite claiming that it was polluted.
Now my Daddy had to call her and beg and he told her to calm down that he would pay her 15k but she refused, that it's the 50k or we go to court.
Now my question is.
Was I wrong in the first place for going to ask of the key to the well that was locked up without proper information of why it was locked, and this well is the well we've been using since we packed in?
The second question is, if we go to the court now, what are the penalties I would have to face if I was wrong?
And finally, is it right for a Landlady to lock up the well that everyone uses because of an issue with one of the tenants?
This place is in Enugu State. Thank you as make you various wise inputs. Tell them you want to go to court and watch the dynamics change. She might even want to withdraw the case. I only hope you didn't go back to assault her after the initial fight, if so you might just lose the case. You bit her in self defence, she can never wim that case. You might just spend some money for court proceedings and all but she is likely to be fined and pay you money for damages. |

this one nor supposed to be police matter. Shut up! He paid his rent and he doesn't need to be polite to access water, it's a given right as long as he isn't damaging the source of water. My father also has a compound and we don't lord over the tenants like gods. Stupid Nigerian mentality. Spits. |

Justice to #Sylvester They are obstructing Justice by hiding the Children. Heard they are planning to move them outside the country. Shows no remorse. Knowing the kind of parent I have, my father would have driven me to the police station himself. That man takes no nonsense. These parents are growing monsters, if these Children get off the hook, then they will do more. That's bad! |
Education › Re: Dowen College: Mother Of Sylvester Oromoni Calls For Protest (Video) by Shusher: 10:35am On Dec 04, 2021 |
Authority1o1: Okay...
Dowen College has released a rebuttal to the claim sponsored by the deceased's relative. Now it's very hard to draw a conclusion, rather a hypothesis is all I can afford now:
If Sylvester had died from injury or consequent injury sustained while playing a game as claimed by Dowen College, why was there ever a need for the brutal post made by the obviously apoplectic relative pointing fingers at abuse? If it had happened as claimed, unless his uncle feeds his veins with heroin, there isn't any rationale to such a post. It was prompted by what he may have been told by the dead, which still holds water at this juncture.
And how he got those names in a very short but sensitive while is very baffling as well.
I took a careful look at Sylvester. He was very broken. His lips were so gone that it can take a sandpaper to replicate the injury on them. What kind of fall, or jump, or collision or whatever could have resulted to such? His limbs were not responsive as well.
Sylvester's mother, whom Dowen College calimed to have contacted beforehand wouldn't be so mad to call for such a shameful, ignoble protest unless it was prompted. If it had happened as asserted by the school, the typical response of a mother would be a solemn candle night or funeral, accompanied by dissociation and mourning. His Father said he was beaten by the boys and given a concussion to drink after that in the hostel. This is murder! |

Datboredberry: I'm talking about black men because you brought up African American culture...
Black men are less likely to earn a degree than black women... Most of the criminals in jail are black men... The victims of racial discrimination.. also black men...
The way you talk about white women... It's pathetic.
I know you feel you have to date a white woman to be a better person, but you mustn't announce your inferiority complex...
You're talking about dating alone... I'm seeing things from a wider scope...
Black men are typical coons tho... You think dating someone of a different race is an achievement?
I've been doing that for years...
I know you've probably not even spoken to a white woman... But ill let you know a secret... "White people don't determine your worth"... Who ever said dating a white woman is an achievement? I have dated both Nigerian and white women. Can't stand the self entitlement of the Nigerian women i dated, all seemed desperate to get married, rip me off or what about the lack of open mindedness? Also can't stand insincerity, a Nigerian girl i was dating lied about her age to me, not until after 16 months! The white women i dated all seemed to be very open minded, sincere and also empathetic. Been in Nigeria due to my work for the past a years now and the mentality is a mess. |

White women brought about feminism! Most black women today identify as 'womenist'... To celebrate blackness... Educate yourself... Not true especially with the ones i work with every week! Loud and annoying. Seems to be a pattern in the black population. |

Datboredberry: That's the point, compared to black women... Black men are treated badly...
They are less likely to attain a degree, to be arrested and jailed, to be victims of racial discrimination...
A black woman is more accepted socially...
I tell you that black men are desired as fcck partners and you aren't ashamed to tell me it's okay?
Is your penis your self-worth for christsake!!!
Do you not care that white women only see you as sex objects? They buy into the Jim Crow stereotype of black men being overly endowed, hyper-sexual creatures who aren't intelligent but seek only to ravage hapless white women...
Like typical African savages...
That's how they see you... No different from any other black man, easily disposable black dìcks...
When it comes to race... Especially the black community... It's women who are more accepted than black men who are stereotyped as criminals, thugs, etc.
That's why you end up victims more often...
Next time, realise that white women cherishing your penis over your life isn't a compliment... It's degrading...
But I expect your kind to accept every crap as long as it's from a white... Lies! Only applicable to black "undecated" men who can't earn a proper living. Jailed? To put in context we are talking of Nigerian men here and Nigerians are the most succesful socio-ethnic group in the United States also the most educated. Go and check. Strangely enough, black women in general are the lowest in the chain because most black men don't want to have anything doing with a black woman when they are faced with a plethora of different races to choose from. White men also choose to go with their own most of the time. I don't know if you've stayed in the US before or you just making stuff based of Google. |

Politics › Re: VAT War Between FG, Rivers State Affects Bauchi Budget Proposal by Shusher: 9:02pm On Nov 13, 2021 |
backbencher: It isn't just Bauchi state...it would soon be every other state.
At the end, prices for airtime, beer, and so on would go up, as each and every state collects VAT on each and every product.
Then we would all be begging the FIRS to come and be the only sole collector of VAT.
p.s I don't mind each and every state collecting VAT...but the thing is, it is going to mean higher prices for everyone...and most Nigerians don't like higher prices. Imagine all states collecting VAT on things like airtime, food, snacks, electricity, etc etc....the companies they collect VAT from would pass on the cost to the end CONSUMER. And we all won't be able to do nowt about it. Plus that VAT rivers and lagos are collecting..is for their states...it isn't going to most other Southern states.
P.S 2: Most states aren't rich. And as their costs go up...so does their VAT. And that means...higher prices for everyone. Not just in Bauchi...Lagos and Rivers. Oil money is not enough for all of us.
PS3. TO anyone quoting this comment
1.I am a Southerner
2. I think that each and every state collecting VAT is a good idea. Because u;ltimately most states have poor tax to gdp ratios and they all have to go up
3.But I also know that it would lead to higher prices in the long term. And I know most of you cannot afford the high prices if states..not just the North..but all the Southern states, have to collect VAT.
So if you are quoting me to tell me off for supporting the North...sorry, wrong person. Prices will remain the same. I'm sure the Fed govt would still regulate the rate across all states. Other states need to think on how to generate their own IGR without baby sitting from the fed. Govt. We have too many lazy thinkers in the country especially in government. So much space and lands in this country and they aren't utilizing it but rather wait for handouts. Denmark sustains its econmy through diary production! Dairy! |

All the leaders there have their own native cultures, but our own P-Man would rather dress like his brothers from Niger Republic.
He is at the front seat simply because they want to prevent him from dozing off. That vantage position in front of the lenses would make him a bit alert because that man cannot define climate change.

from IDP camps in Borno, passenger boats in Rivers, communities in Yobe and now Fulani herdsmen settlement, how long will the government continue using defenseless citizens as target practice ?
I hope nearby villages take note of this because Fulani neither forgive nor forget ! Just shut up! Was it the neighbouring villages that sent a fighter jet to bomb them? Likely a disgruntled Benue state indigene in the Air Force who is tired and frustrated of the carnage the fulani are causing in the state. The Fulani are on overdrive in that state. I don't support such actions but at this rate more attacks might come against Fulani from other disgruntled tribes. They should tread carefully and stop their violence else they are looking to be wiped out. |

I have always said it that the govt isn't bad. It's the people that are bad because the govt is made up of the people in the country. Even if you complaim about the President, do you see what is happening in the civil service? The local g9vt and govt agencies arebedrocks of crime and corruption. Most of these people are everyday people. Nigeria has a structural and societal problem. Greed and desperation is so prevalent here. Some even go to the US with a good economy to do fraud. SMH Nigerian societal values are toxic. Period. Ashamed to be called a Nigerian. I lost a juicy remote job that would pay me in excess of 1.7m monthly just because I'm a Nigerian. Recruiter thought i was from Kenya or Ghana. Her responce when i claimed i was Nigerian was embarrassing even though she hid her disgust i saw it. We need to introduce capital punishment for fraud and corruption, sensitize the people not to glorify wealth with no history of how it was obtained then there might be hope. The Nigerian society is in a state of decay. |

Ammishaddai: [s][/s] Bros , don't mix your foolishness with the evidences on ground . The cannabis you are yelling about is being promoted not because of its medicinal uses, but because of an agenda. This agenda doesn't allow fools like you think deeply about the motives behind its promotion. For your information, studies are still being conducted on the harmful effects of the drugs and as it stands ,marijuana major concern is not in its ability to alleviate patients' symptoms , but rather its potential danger it poses to individual users and the society.
What many of you even fail to understand is that marijuana joints have been shown to deliver at least four times as much tar to the lungs as tobacco cigarettes of equivalent weight. This difference is due to the lack of filters on joints and because marijuana smokers typically inhale a larger volume of smoke and take it more deeply into the lungs than tobacco smokers do. Marijuana smokers also tend to hold smoke in for a time before exhaling, exposing the lungs to even greater levels of cancer-causing agents. So don't tell me rubbish It's unnesscary to insult especially when you have wrong facts. Yes, you're very correct and also very wrong too. Taking weed does not alter your actions like alchohol I.e it doesn't make you stupid and lose motor coordination. It's not advisable to to smoke weed rather the safest method of taking weed is by vaping. A lot of Nigerians can't afford a quality dry herb vape which eliminates the harmful substances from the smok, marijuana itself isn't harmful, it's the combustion from burning paper that creates tar. When used through a vape the pros far outweigh the cons, but unfortunately a lot of people use paper to smoke it which is injurious to health long-term. I've been a marijuana user for 9 years now, I am not advising anyone to be a pothead but it has benefits when taken in the proper way and in moderation, i am gainfully employed, very good at what i do employers contact me for jobs i didn't eben apply for. I use it to manage stress and pain, helps me eat and sleep well. Might have adverse effects on others, it isn't meant for everyone, especially adolescents and people who have had a history of psychosis in their family lineage. Massive research has been done on marijuana and it's bug breakthrough in the medical field. Its used to treat a lot of illness such as gluacoma, Cancer, arthritis, etc. I care less about Nigerian opinions on marijuana as most speak based on emotions/ religious disposition and not appropriate research. Marijuana is legal in Canada, Netherlands, Georgia, SA, several states in the USA etc Nigeria isn't even comparable to those countries especially in Crime and violence index and i believe extensive research was done by their respective Health ministries before legalizing it. Nigerian professors and scholars based in the country can't do proper research so i think you need to be updated. I hope you've learnt something new. |
