Which is closer? |
Forgive errors EKaro - Good Morning (E Ka row) EKasan - Good Afternoon (E Ka san) Ecrawly (I know that is no where near) Good Evening (E Craw lee) Am I close? (Apart from spelling) My wife is Yoruba but she does not have the patience to teach me. I want to learn it and supprise her one day! |
Back to the topic at hand. @Unhappy - I think as your not married to the boy (Seun please leave I meant boy and not boy) you really should not be getting involved. It is your boyfriends decision what he does with his money. It may be hard to stay out but until you become one (If you ever do, do you want to?) keep out. Express your concerns with him. Good luck. |
@Bisiriyu - Well said. |
@Z4M4eva -- thanks @segsi, no offense, I would be more confident with a member of NL that has been posting for a while. At least that way I can check their post history to try ascertain their character. Thanks for your offer though. |
Z4M4eva:Ke low shelly (Is that how is sounds?) |
I'm wanting to learn the Yoruba language. Anybody want to teach me, i will pay!!! I appreciate that it might be hard to learn on-line without actually hearing the pronunciation but it's worth a try. If for example you indicate the sound as well as the correct spelling and translation in English. For example ba wo nee (Wrote how it sounds) = how are you or how's things I hope you get my drift. Peace (Seun, sorry that I duplicated this thread here and in Adverts, delete applicable!) |
Pish Pish & Pish This thread is Pish! It's Pishing it down outside! The 3rd term concept for OBJ is Pish! |
I hate the odor of goat meat when it is cooking. @b_e_b_e "goat bar-b-que'd--it's divine" i'll try it this weekend. My wife like's goat meat so it looks like she will do the bar-b-que, Thanks for the tip!! I stated Ughelli for the live maggot's, this actually should read Sapalle (Nearly 3 years ago since I was in that area). |
That is shocking! Nice post!!! |
Who is arguing? It's a discussion. We all have our own mindset. Re "the context of this argument", I beleive the subject is "The Western Media's Portrayal Of Africa" so we both should maybe go back to that. |
So you don't want foreign aid, good for you. I'm sure there are governments / people out there that are glad of the assistance be it foreign aid or charity. Charities send fund's to third world countries, that is not foreign aid in your eyes (Aiding foreigners). You agree to the charitable side because you get something for nothing, typical!!!!! Two words for you to think about, dept relief! I'll continue to donate money for the people that need it. It's called being compassionate to others. segun06:This maybe the case but until this happens how are some going to live without foreign aid ![]() ![]() ?? |
Yep your right, a UPS would be good for individual homes. But do you think a monitoring system (I read that as a central control room covering multiple properties) connected to multiple UPS would work? Do you appreciate how sensitive alarm's need to be to detect line breaks? It could work but I very much doupt it (My opinion) it would be an expensice mistake if it does'nt. |

Encourage witchcraft!! So people still believe in all that twoddle |
Why not take your wife on a balloon ride over London? Very romantic. http://www.eballoon.org/pictures/gallery/over-cities_balloon-over-london5.html or Skydiving http://www.ukskydiving.com/location.htm Or go for a picnic in a beauty spot and hire a byplane to do a fly pass with a banner wishing your wife a happy anniversary. Good luck hope your wife appreciates your effort. |
pintos, I've read the article and must admit that I don't disagree with it's content. Having the right or not having the right to publish such articles is not the issue here in my opinion. I humbly suggest that Nigerian's should not take offense of such meaningless tables. The most important thing is to recognize that their continues to be a massive problem with corruption and basic human rights violations in Nigeria. Nigerian's themselves need to address the issue and continue to change their own destiny rather than complain about other nations. And yes it can be said the same about the UK and USA, is it on the same scale? I don't know but suspect not. Would I think different if I was Nigerian and other countries were continually speaking ill of my homeland? I honestly don't know. Peace to all. |
Good post hunter!!! ![]() |
You can use a Nigerian driving liceince in the UK (First 12 months) |
Don't laugh as I don't know the correct spelling of some of these dishes! Favorite food I love banga soup with fresh fish from the Warri Area. Beef n Stew Fish Pepper soup (Great if you have a cold or a hangover )Least Favorite foods Live maggots from Ughelli Goat meat (The odor is horrible) Most rice dishes ![]() |
Well, finally we all find out what is happening regarding the census. The census will still begin on the 21st however their will be NO restriction to movement. OBJ has declared the 24th & 25th as public holidays .Source The Punch Page 9 (16/3/06) How do you feel about the census? Do you think it will be accurate? What is your estimation of population? My estimation is 180 million people! you're turn. |
Shock horror, Seun your going to go into advertising through this site (Why does that not surprise me). I hope you find a good balance and don't spoil (Over populate) the forum look. I know this forum is a standard forum, and can be purchased at a reasonable cost ($60 / year including hosting) but you have done a cracking job so far. The stats speak for themself. Keep it up. I only have one source of income (my job) and "YES" it is probably not the best idea to rely on 1 stream (Or trickle in my case) of income. I am seriously looking at investing in Nigeria when the right opportunity comes along. |
I think you are up against it here, I don't personally entertain any company or individual that uses a free email service such as yahoo or gmail. It does not instil confidance!! I would advise you to get a business email address. I'm sure somebody here can help you on that at a reasonable cost. I do like your card though apart from the email ad. |
It's normal for some teenage girls to want babies, even as young as 15. It's your maternal instinct. If you have any relatives or friends with children, I suggest helping out with that. It will satisfy some of your baby cravings, and help you to see how big the responsibility of caring for a child is. |
dogg, sorry that I have not been able to help. I'm sure some of the others will be able to offer better advise / facts & figres. Good luck with your project. |
Unemployment - I don't believe anybody knows this figure (How can they when there has never been an accurate census? (My opinion) See link (Data as of June 1991) http://www.exploitz.com/Nigeria-Unemployment-cg.php Low salary in Nigeria = What is the minimum wage set by government? Good Salary = Depends on the individual (Maybe Seun can run a poll for this, Seun?) Why so much oil is being stolen - I think this is the easiest one to answer, because there is a market and a small minority of people choose to break the law (I know people have to survive, it is a catch 22. I wish I had the answer to stop the poverty but I don't. (Seun, I thought you might have added "Seun" to the spell checker) |
I actually disagree that Seun:The companies that I have worked with in Nigeria when recruiting new staff don't take the school credentials too seriously as it is known that the certificate's can be bought at a price. It is unfortunate but true. I am not trying to demean the seriousnous of good education, the crooks that are in the school system (Lecturers & certification bodies that make a living selling certificates) do not realize what harm they are doing to the serious students they are making a mockery of the education process. Good luck to All Nigerians that are studying. I don't want abuse for my opinion from students! I am with you! It happens and you know it! |
Goodguy, well I have tried and tried (Over 1 hour) to beat your score but |
How would a monitoring system work with such an eratic power supply in the country? You will continue to have spurious alarms due to power fluctuations and PHCN / GEN switch over. I'm sure there are way's to overcome this however I would suggest delaying in the alarm side of thing's and concentrate on Security personnel training. Good luck. |
@ Kokscity Unfortunately I have to agree with you that Lagos is a dump. In my eye's Nigeria has come along way though since 1998 (My arrival in Nigeria), the roads are getting better, the government is trying to clean the country up, it still has a long way to go but it is definitely moving in the right direction. Tinabu has done a good job for Lagos let's hope his successor comes from the same school!! |
Nice thread. I would recommend that you read "Football My Arse" by Ricky Tomlinson - A great book full of football humur. I'll try insert a few of the stories here later. |
Does anybody know where I can purchase a multi-gym in the Lagos Area? Cash waiting! |
