No business of the church what so ever!!! |
If your intrested in a westerner's view? For me, out of the languages that I hear from day to day, Urhobo is the easiest to learn (Basic). My wife is Yoruba (kwara) and speaks Hausa as well, she believes hausa is the easiest to learn. I find Hausa to be clearer on the ear than Yoruba but I can not speak either apart from the basic greetings etc. |
Yes it can be the same if not better, ![]() after all it's just another city. Forget about where the money has gone in the past, there is only so much money that can be spent on a city (I said spent not stolen). I strongly believe in people power so in my view it's left to the people of the cities to help try make it better. Lagos will certainly follow the city model of Abuja just like other cities in the world. People keep talking about overcrowding in Lagos, I agree that is a real problem at present. What did Tokyo do to assist with the dense population in the city? Build tower blocks!!! What do you think they will do in Lagos? Yep you've got it, they will build more tower blocks. Pollution is an issue yep, the pollution from the cars alone is horrendous. The government will eventually wake up to that and insist on MOT's etc. |
Where are you at the moment? If your in Lagos you can not go wrong if you try computer village. |
@LoverBwoy , he he that's harsh ![]() |
@LoverBwoy, would you get a good return on your investment with it being so small scale? I advise you to do some research. What do people want in Nija that they can not allready get? Start a thread on Nairaland. Baggage checks at the airport can be a real pain unless you have someone inside. You might find that your goods are confiscated. Good luck though. |
Let's see if the site grows (I don't believe it will due to the confusion over the pixel price) It is not v impressive as of yet, only 2 listings on the home page (How long as it been live?). It might be an idea for the owner to have a promotion for free listings for a month or so. Let's remember internet traffic generates income through affiliate programs, pay per click and adsense etc. As t4cash said "the secret to entrepreneurial success is innovation" - v true in my opinion. |

@kajad - They r v funny ![]() |
@omom, I am fully aware of how ignorant some of the Brits who work at the BHC in Lagos are. I attended the BHC when my wife was first applying for her visa and the way my wife was treated was dispicable (notice the difference, I said "Some of the Brits". I try not to group everybody together, how can I i don't know them all). The same applies to the passport control staff at airports in the UK (I'll talk about that later) I in no way condone their self centered, self promoted attitude. I truly feel for you guy's. My gripe is what I consider to be a blame culture that some Nigerian's adopt (It's obvious that we will never agree on that so let's leave it - The atrocities that my ancestors committed were terrible (I don't claim to know much about what my ansestors did as it was never taught in my school - why would they promote it!). You should not however tarnish everybody with the same brush. @odeku - Hope you not referring to me about "never been to Nigeria" - I have been here over seven years and have probably visited more places in Nigeria than most (Well riverine area's anyway). Now the security dog's at the airport - I don't believe that the dog handlers direct the dog's specifically to Nigerians. I do agree that most flights into the UK from Nigeria (The ones I have been on) are screened using dog's. If you have nothing to worry about what is the problem. I have been stopped on two occasions by the dog / dog handler and had my bag searched. I look at it as they are only doing their job. I suspect that in the past the security have found passengers with drug's on them. I could be wrong but consider it! Passport checkers - Do you not think that they have had hundreds if not thousands of illegal aliens entering the UK via the airports? If you agree with that statement which if your a realist you will. You should also appreciate that it is their job on the line if they do not scrutinize passports. What do you think happened to the security personnel that allowed the bayelsa governor to pass through in drag?? @toshmann - ![]() Thanks for listening to MY VIEW! |
Odeku- Like I said before, the UK & USA should stay out of the 3rd term issue. |
Odeku:Now there's an idea! it's not happening at present is it? Your advise to toshmann has been consumed by me. I will be wasting my time trying to ask people to open there eyes. nice pic in your profile ![]() |
@Consultant - Keep up the good work! |
"toshmann - Let's agree to disagree re who is to blame!!! Regarding toshmann:- As far as I am aware (Unless it has changed recently - Gone through a similar process with my wife's papers) you can apply for a workers visa while in the UK and it will be ffavorableas you have (Will have) schooled in the UK. Visitors visa's (Or study visa's) are not issued just because the subject is going to spend x amount of money in the economy, the monetary issue is to ensure the subject can support themself or be supported by person or persons other than the british tax payer. toshmann:Well at least you have shown me your ignorance!. After reading all your posts (ALL) it is clear to me that you play the blame game and you believe your thoughts are all that matters. If you class this as the 3rd insult so be it. Now that is unfortunate but TRUE! |
@toshmann - No wonder basic fundamental problems still remain in Nigeria when folks can not put the past aside and try to move on. toshmann:Grow up, you continue to blaim other people! That will get you nowhere!!! I notice that your in the British aisle's as well, why would you go their if "ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT NIGERIA IS FACING TODAY CAN BE TRACED TO THE BRITISH" Na wow for you! |
I would never ever dream of cheating on my wife!! Love is trust!! |
variation:lol,lol, You think right, is is to know the number of those in the Niger delta as well as all other areas of Nigeria! Remember it is called a "population census". "To attack them" uhm uhm!! I can not respond to that foolish and war mungering thought! |
22 million |
As a Brit I totally agree that the UK & USA should stay out of this issue. It is for the people of Nigeria to decide and nobody else. toshmann:sorry but your statements stinks! Do you honestly (Hand on heart) think the UK would listen to Nigerian polititians who wanted to try change our policies? Do you have a tested political structure in place that is follwed by most to the letter? I don't think so. Will you ever have it? Yes and I believe it wont be too long now. I'm sure you can count on one thing, if the people of Nigeria needed the help from the UK they would surely receive it. Nigeria is moving forward at such a fast pace, I feel privileged to be married to a Nigerian lady, I feel privileged to know so many of you out there. I do see alot of charachter traites in Nigerians that I see as negative but my maturity allow's me to overlook such traites and concentrate on the main issue of loving thy neighbor. Nigerians are very proud people and have a right to be. Peace to all. |

Baby girl:I totally agree, giving out email addresses to the unknown is not wise so a page on "Comments to the administrator" would be usefull. |
165 million people |
We are having a sweep stake at work to guess what the final population figure of Nigeria will be. Let's have a sweep here on Nairaland. I'll donate a prize of N1500 to the person who is the nearest to the final number (Credit for vmobile/mtn or glo - Sorry if you live outside Nigeria or don't have a use for the phone credit). Seun - Will you be the adjudicator? You have the final say on the winner!! Rules You are only allowed to submit 1 guess. You can only submit answers to the nearest million. Only submit your guess on your post (Posts with any information other than the guess will not count) I'll Start. |
The perfect breakfast has to be a greasy Gerty truck stop breaky!! For those who don't know what I'm rabbling on about. In the UK there are allot of motorway service stations that offer cheap greasy fried breakfasts. I know they are not healthy but , fried eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans, tomato, toast and a big mug of tea, Now that is a breakfast! |
b_e_b_e:Well I had a bar-b-que and I'm afraid to say "I really really dislike goat meat". I'll stick to chicken from now on. B_e_b_e, more goat for you ![]() |
