HealthRe: Self Harm by SIBLI06(m): 9:36am On Apr 21, 2006
Unfortunately Yes I have harmed myself during my childhood. I am not proud (Rather ashamed to be honest) of the fact that I have slashed myself with a razor. I took an overdose on 2 occasions, both times resulting in emergency resuscitation at the hospital. Why did I do it? It was a overwhelming feeling of being unloved by my parents who were always looking after my sister better than me. That's what I thought at the time (My sister suffered from cancer when she / we were young (11 - 14 years). I could not see the importance of my families undivided attention to my sister, I felt totally left out. Yes it is so stupid but it resulted in resentment and obviously nearly my death.

To all parents out there, if you have a sick child in your family please try to spread your love to all of your kids. Sickness of one child effects the whole family, some obviously worse than others.

I did receive conselling afterwards (at the time i did not have the relationship with God as I do now) Thank you god for saving me!!

I wrote this reply just to let people know that self harm is a illness!! And if not treated can lead to death.

Nice thread though!

It's very sad, I would be intrested to hear what JB has to say on the matter. Yet another article of twin standards that will no doubt be used as fuel to divide our cultures further. When will it stop? Not for this reason but for numerous reason's that I don't want to go into at this stage "I sometimes feel ashamed of being white huh huh"

u can try marinol ( medical form of marijuana, it doesn't make u high, just increases your appetite like mary jane) or try megestrol acetate too. both medications are by prescription ofcourse
I would suggest before you start throwing pills down your neck you seek medical advice. (@bluenbian I appreciate you meant well by your reply however, giving names of prescription drug's enables people to go buy the tablet's from other sources without receiving the correct information, what works for one does not allways work for another).

@lovelydemi , The doctor will want to know your age for a start. If u don't mind me asking how old are you?? Do you find it difficult to eat? Are you eating as much as you can but can not gain weight? How are your familly members built?

Any medical profession in the house??

Don't put a timeline on marraige. If you believe in a age limit (Age Guide) you could end up making a mistake by rushing into it just because your perceived time is almost up. When the time comes you will know. I was 30 yrs and my wife 29 yrs.

Hey all,
I am pleased  to contribute to this post. As the admin at Nairex will attest to, and I am hereby giving him my authorisation to go ahead and publish details of my transactions with him online if possible. I ordered some substantial amount of digital currency (e-gold) from Goldkobo, which is a sister site, from last year and I have not had cause to regret my confidence in their services.  some times, you can not avoid certain delays and setbacks due to unforeseen circumstances, apart from that, I give a whole hearted thumbs up!
And all these despite the fact that I have not set foot in their office before.
I agree that my transactions with regards to the virtual card (via Nairex) has not been more than once, which he may publish, I believe its even easier to disappear with my funds in digital form than otherwise. LOL
With only 4 posts, uhm, looks like you are in it together.

NAIRALANDERS PLEASE BEWARE - It does not add up!!!!!

*******Just checked phoenix007 previous post's!! Yep thought so you are together *****************************

PoliticsRe: Should The US And Great Britain Pressure Obasanjo Against 3rd Term? by SIBLI06(m): 11:12am On Apr 20, 2006
Reverend:
I am British and I personally think that we should take out Obasanjo. He is a common criminal and should be treated like a rabid dog! he is no better than Saddam Hussein or any other dictator!

I say it is time that the Nigerian people stop suffering because of this corrupt criminal!
I have to disagree with you on that. Obasanjo has done so much good for the country since 98 (When I arrived Nigeria from UK), he can not be held fully accountable for corrupt SG or LG in the country. I'm not saying his hand is not in the pot (I'm sure it is), all I can comment on is the changes that are taking place at the moment. Will the next President be as affective as OBJ? I doubt it!!!!!

What about the Paris Club? Is that not a big tick on OBJ resume??

Nigerian's are not suffering from OBJ rule, they are suffering from past rulers and present SG's & LG's longest throats!!!

I do not believe that OBJ will or should stand for the 3rd term. He has had his time and done very well as a whole, time to move on!! Pray for a new leader in 2007!

@Mongue, If you make any progress obtaining a Nigerian passport please let me know. The immigration law's at the moment to me seem so obstructive, the immigration officials say different thing's when you ask them the same question.

I would love to get a Nigerian Passport for myself but like I said previously, on speaking to the BHC in Lagos they said "only 1 person in the last 10 years has been granted a Nigeria Passport" (Seems very hard to believe but I can not prove it otherwise).

Good luck! (Hope the baby is doing well) wink

Nairaland GeneralRe: Should We Support Nairaland Financially? by SIBLI06(m): 3:47pm On Apr 18, 2006
Did this thread originate from a genuine user of Nairaland? Think about it!!

(Just come back to work after a week of sickness so if i've missed something re Seun or Nairaland please forgive me, is there a new moderator??)

My opinion - Why on earth should we support the forum financially? Do you think it is a hobby for Seun? By being here alone and populating the forum Seun is receiving money (Seun any comment?). No doupt there will be a increase of adverts on the site soon when Seun has sorted his act out with his affiliate programs. Seun has the ability to make this site No1 Forum in Nigeria (It could be allready but it time it will be a huge hit for the owner) with the help of us. So no need to pay!! When Seun starts cashing-up do you think he will reward ushuh

Keep up the good work Seun - *********Pay to be a member of Nairaland = Few Members!!!*************
FamilyRe: Where Will You Allow Your Wife To Work After Marriage? by SIBLI06(m): 12:00pm On Apr 18, 2006
I would not appose my wife working anywhere, if your marriage is strong it should not really matter. The question I would be asking is why does my wife want / choose to work away from me?

My father worked most of my chilhood away from home and my parents mariage has suvived, could it have been better if he did not travel? Who knows.

My work takes me all over the world, so my wife is aware that I will probably have to travel to another country after this job. Is she upset, not really as she know that I will do everything possible to have he near me, the worst that can happen is that I only see her for 6 months of a year. It sucks but that's the game I play.

@ kajad - what would you suggest? I trust the security guard with my life!! Yes he likes girls too much!!! He did show us no respect by doing it in our compound! I think it would be so hard to replace him! He is so loyal and good at his job, i have no complaints other than this one.
FamilyRe: My House Help Is Pregnant For My Security Guard by SIBLI06(op): 3:04pm On Apr 07, 2006
Folks *********UPDATE *****************

Just spoke to my wife, my house girl is 19 weeks pregnant shocked. Luckily the baby is ok! This means that she arrived at my house with the pregnancy and tried to blame my security guard.

It in no way gets my guard of the hook as I still need to discipline him. I do feel now though that my hhelp should leave the house. Trying to pin the pregnancy on my guard is well out of order and even up until I left for work this morning her story was the same.

Can I trust somebody like that now? I will ensure that she will not suffer. It's sad! sad sad

Car TalkRe: Motorbike Riding is Fun. Don't you Agree? by SIBLI06(m): 1:18pm On Apr 07, 2006
Yes riding a decent bike is fun, for me it's a way of escaping. I don't have a bike in Nigeria and would not buy one. The roads are not suitable full stop. If you have one take care, you are dicing with death. I don't see any point having a 500+cc bike that you can not open the throtttle up.

My last bike in the UK was a Ducati 750cc Supersport. I sold it before I came to Naija.

FamilyRe: Good Hospitals For Child Birth by SIBLI06(m): 12:54pm On Apr 07, 2006
@Mongue, my wife is due to deliver our first child in July. After serious consideration we have decided that we will travel back to the UK and have the birth their. I'm not saying that there are no suitable, well equipped hospitals here in Nigeria (After all women have been giving birth here since year dot) it's just that I would never forgive myself if anything happened to my wife or our baby (Nathan Myowa "Surname"wink.

What nationality are you and your partner? For us, if my wife (Nigerian) gave birth in Nigeria our baby would be entitled to a British passport through me (British) however our babies child will not automatically be entitled to the same. So at least if my wife gives birth in the UK our grandchildren will be entitled to residence in the UK. Something you should really think about.

If everything is ok with the pregnancy you can fly to the UK as late as 36 weeks pregnancy, after the birth you can fly almost immediately back. So you don't need months back in the UK.

I'm actually lucky enough to be able to afford the birth in the UK (I am no longer a UK resident due to my time in Nigeria therefore my wife and I are not covered by the NHS). So we will have a home birth in the UK!

I pray everything works out for you as you wish.  smiley smiley It's not an easy decision to make is it!
FamilyRe: Can You Suck Mucus Out your Childs Nose With Your Mouth? by SIBLI06(m): 11:24am On Apr 07, 2006
My wife has done the same to her nephew's in the past. I believe it to very poor practice, I'm trying to recall the source of a story where the mother damaged her babies lungs while doing the same.

There are mechanical devices out there with a rubber suction head that does the same job and does not risk the child's health through over sucking! I'll try find it.

OK, something similar

AutosRe: The Worst Drivers In Nigeria? by SIBLI06(m): 11:15am On Apr 07, 2006
I think a high percentage (70% ish) of drivers on the roads in Nigeria are bad drivers. It makes no difference of age / sex/ job etc. Does anybody use the 2 second rule? (While driving allow 2 seconds distance between your car and the vehicle in front). I'm sure that comment will cause a uproar but it's only my opinion!!! How many people do you know that actually had driving lessons by a professional instructor? Have you seen some of the instructors driving!!

I would love to see all drivers being made to take a driving test and the police charging people for drink driving. IT WILL HAPPEN SOON, MARK MY WORDS. stay safe while driving, use the 2 second rule!!!!!

An insensitive moderator would suggest that "My Househelp Is Pregnant For My Security Guard" is a much better title for this topic and it should go in the Family section.  But I'm not that kind of moderator (So why change the title?). Really, I have nothing better to do with my time than to spend hours correcting very bad thread titles.

@Seun, let the poster decide what the title is!!! You are the administrator and owner of Nairaland, the members make it for you. The title is like that for a reason. is the forum for you alone or for membershuhhuh??

ban me I don't really care if that is your way of controlling people!!!!!!! Your input is too much!!! Unless they are offensive DO NOT CORRECT!!!!

FamilyMy House Help Is Pregnant For My Security Guard by SIBLI06(op): 8:05am On Apr 07, 2006
All,

I need your advise. My wife and I found out last night that my house help is pregnant for my security guard. My wife will carry the house help to the clinic this morning as there is a chance the house girl was pregnant before she arrived at my house (Big chance). Not only that, my security guard has been giving my house help some local medicine & alcohol to try get rid of the baby. My house help is 22 (She says! but I think she is more like 16). My security guard is 27!

We have kind of adopted both the house girl and security guard, we treat them both like a member of the family. I don't want to send either away if I can help it. If my house help still has the pregnancy (She has been seeing blood for 2 weeks) it will be up to her obviously if she should keep it. I think there must be something in the water at my house (Joking) My wife is 6 months pregnant, my driver's wife will deliver this week and now the house girl. I thought I ran a good home with Strong Christian values but I could be wrong. Any advise people? Constructive advise only please as this is about a life.

*******Addition to first post***********

Sorry I forgot to mention that we have warned the security guy not to mess with anybody in the household. We did find him on top of our last house help. We sent the last house girl packing not for sleeping with the guard but for stealing.
FashionRe: Would You Get A Tattoo? by SIBLI06(m): 3:44pm On Apr 06, 2006
I love tattoo's, I have 3 and would love another. Will I love them when I'm old and wrinkly though that is the question. I always said I would never have a tattoo with a name on it until I met my wife. I now have a tattoo of a cherub pointing toward my heart with "Modupe" as on a nameplate.
