The joke is on you! Those shoprites branches you see belong to Nigerians. Its called a 'franchise', you can look up the word. You can buy a franchise to open a shoprite; royalties are being remitted to the brand owners, who may not even be in Nigeria. Same goes for MTN; most of the outlets are owned by Nigerians, selling services offered by MTN and remitting to MTN. MTN is now listed in Nigerian stock exchange and sold-out within two days. Who you think over-subscribed the shares? They generate tax revenue, have Nigerian staff, supervisors and Managers, have chains of outsourced services that keeps other Nigerian SME's running, engage in CSR's that contribute in its own little way to improve communities they are; they contribute positively to the Nigerian economy!

As he clearly stated that they gave themselves first to God. Jesus Christ said be it done unto you according to your faith. A Christian with spiritual understanding will know that there is blessing that comes with giving because the scriptures said it is more blessed to give than to receive. As a giver the right mindset is that we are not just giving to the church, or to the needy or a pastor as your kind like to believe. No, we are giving to God regardless of who receives it because the blessings come from God. We are merely stewards of whatever wealth God entrusted us with. It belongs to him. If someone that is rich and that you adore like Buhari, Jonathan, Messi or Ronaldo asks you to give him some money, you knowing fully well that this person doesn't really need it, won't you gladly give him something "presentable" because of the respect and admiration you have for him, even though you might not have much. You will likely think that what you will get in return will exceed whatever you gave. How much more God? He doesn't need your money. It belongs to him in the first place and we should be willing to serve him with it if He is truly first in our lives. I should have posted a lot of scriptural references as I usually do but I'm not in a good position now. Now to support this Rev's point, in the new testament, Jesus charged everyone of us to go into the world and preach the gospel. Now, that's makes everyone a preacher. If everyone is a preacher, who will then offer tithe and who will receive the tithe? Cos me as a preacher won't give my tithe to another preacher, and another preacher won't give his tithe to me.

As we all know, if tithe is taken out of church, most pastors will go broke and many will take to another job cos they were not called by God. Only the true pastors will remain cos they never depended on tithe and offering to live. Maybe this should be a way to combact these fake churches that are springing up self.
