Bayelsa blogger apologises to Kogi over fake N7b isolation centre’s report

A blogger based in Bayelsa State, Saint Mienpamo Onitsha, has apologised to the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, following his report alleging that he intended to spend N7bn on the Kogi Isolation Centre for COVID-19, which was destroyed by a rainstorm.

The report published in May 2020 on his blog, www.naijalivetv.com, generated controversies, led to his arrest and arraignment at the Federal High Court.

But Onitsha, in a statement on Tuesday, admitted that the publication was false and begged the governor and the state government to forgive him.

He said: “I hereby render an unreserved apology over a publication, which I posted on my website, www.naijalivetv.com on May 2, 2020, entitled, ‘it will cost us N7 billion naira to build and equip the Kogi Isolation Centre for Covid-19 which rain destroyed, says Yahaya Bello’.

“I further express my deepest regret for the post and publication which was false and I regret my action for any embarrassment it may have caused you and your administration. I am sincerely sorry and kindly find a place in your heart to forgive me”.

Prince Matthew Kolawole paid an advocacy visit to the State Assembly to woo them in support of Governor Yahaya Bello Presidential ambition in 2023. According to him, Alhaji Yahaya Bello being a young, vibrant and dogged leader, has been tested and can be trusted hence he is dependable. He said Kogi State Governor is not new to them having be in the state during his second term primary election which was conducted by Governor Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa state, stressing that his youthfulness and vibrancy cannot be wished away, promising the Kogi Assembly to count on their support for the project. He advised the Presidential hopeful to continue to maintain cordial working relationship with their Governor, who is the leader of the state, pointing out that the 30 member State Assembly in Jigawa state are all members of the ruling All Progressive Congress. He commended the Kogi State House of Assembly for taking a bold step in moving round the country to galvanize support for their Governor. Earlier, Rt. Hon. We went further to look at the geopolitical zone in the country. We passed the resolution that our governor should be the first to contest for president in 2023. We feel he can handle this country. HealthKogi, Others Top Latest Salary Structure For Doctors As Bello Approves CONMESS by Simeonee111(op): 9:02am On Feb 03, 2021
LATEST SALARY STRUCTURE FOR DOCTORS: KOGI STATE, TWO OTHERS TOP THE CHART.

As posted by the State Commissioner for Health and Confirmed by News Blogs Across the Country

In a development that can at best be described as unprecedented, we are pleased to inform the public that the #NewDirection Government of His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello has fully implemented REVISED CONMESS as the new salary scale for Doctors in Kogi State. Besides Delta and Benue States and FCT, no other State in Nigeria has implemented the full revised CONMESS salary scale! While this administration continues to make bold strides in the Health sector with life-touching projects such as Top-Notch Health Facilities Development, 21st Century Disease Prevention/Control Initiatives and other highly impactful Health Programs like Social Health Insurance/BelloCare, the importance of manpower can not be overemphasised to ensure those infrastructures/programs provide quality and efficient service to the general public. It is therefore no doubt that this landmark decision is a first and beautiful step in the right direction as such welfare boost will not only serve as a motivation for Doctors in the State but will also attract other Doctors to the State.

All the accolade and praises goes to His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello for his unrelenting support to the Kogi State Health Sector as part of his resolve to ensure all Kogites get quality and affordable Health Care service. He has demonstrated beyond any chance of questioning that he is indeed a visionary leader who puts the interest of the people at heart.

The Doctors on their part have extended their unquantifiable gratitude for such an august consideration that has never happened in the State, and have resolved to put in their very best to help Kogites in every way possible through their health challeneges.
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has commended Kogi State Government for the implementation of 2014 revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS), and proper placement of doctors in the Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH), Lokoja, and the entire state-own hospitals at large.

The commendation was made in a statement jointly signed by the Leadership of the North Central Caucus of NARD, the Leader, Dr Abdulquadri Idrisu; and the Deputy Leader Dr Emmanuel Bola Jonah Kelvin, on Monday, in Lokoja.

According to the statement, in the last one year, NARD had reached out to the government on the need to implement the CONMESS, both directly and from Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), KSSH Lokoja, ably led by its Immediate Past President, Dr Emmanuel Bola Jonah Kelvin.

“We are glad to note that each of our communications with the government, had set up cascades of events.”

“The government acted on our letters, communique’s, press releases, ultimatum and strike actions on the subject matter with a heart of understanding,” the statement reads.

They also commended the government on the giant strides on infrastructural development in the health sector so far and urged the government to sustain the effort.

The association noted that even though NARD was not yet where they wanted to be in Kogi State, they were glad that a huge step had been taken, and expressed their gratitude to the Kogi State Government.

“No doubt a major step in solving brain drain in Kogi State has been achieved, we look forward to consolidating these gains, with sustained investment in the health sector.

“The implementation of the new minimum wage and promotions are still outstanding. We are hopeful and expectant that in the near future this will also be the thing of the past,” NARD said.

The association expressed their unbridled appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for the gesture, assuring their total commitment to saving the lives of the people of the state.

The association also thanked the State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna Audu; the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Idris Ashiru; the State Auditor General, Mr Okala; and the State’s Accountant General, for their unalloyed support.

They further extended their appreciation to the immediate past and present NMA-KOGI Chairmen; Dr Kabir Zubair and Dr Oyiguh Omakoji respectively alongside their SOC.

“We appreciate the President of NARD, Dr Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa and the National Officers Committee; the immediate past President of NARD, Dr Aliyu Sokumba and all our medical elders for their guidance in this struggle.

“Special appreciation to the CMD of Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, Prof. Yahaya Adagiri, the CMAC, Director of Administration, the HOD account and the OC salary. Past and present ARD KSSH Presidents; Dr Peter Nathaniel, Dr Audu Ademu and Dr Jimmy Idama, just to mention a few, for providing great leadership in this struggle.”

Kogi Tops States With Reduced Domestic Debts, Highest FDI; Linked to Bello's Stance on Covid-19 and Security Strides

The approach by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state in the fight against Corona Virus, especially the No-Lockdown Policy and the open economic activities has yielded another result in the recently released statistical report of states with reduced domestic debts for 2020.

Having reduced it's local debt profile by over N59.15billion, Kogi has emerged the number one state with reduced domestic debts in the country according to a report by statisense, collected from documents of the Debt Management Office, and wildly reported on national media.

The report showed Kogi state leading other States like Katsina, the FCT, Edo, Ekiti Kaduna, Imo, which also reduced their respective debt profile as reported by the Debt Management Office.

Kogi has also emerged state with the highest foreign direct investments (FDI) worth over $1billion in Nigeria according to the Nigerian Investments Promotion Commission (NIPC).

These feats have also been attributed to the sound financial management of the Governor whom has demonstrated an intelligent approach in handling the state debt profile which he met at a dissatisfying state.

The refusal of the Kogi state Governor to lockdown the economy while every other state was down, the security situation of the state which has improved majorly to be among the most secured state in Nigeria and likened to Yahaya Bello's support to security agencies, empowerment of local vigilante, use of Intel report, provision of vehicles and building of security outfits across the state has also been attributed to these feats.
The Governor's support to women and youth in Governance have as well contributed to the high ranking profile of the state today.

It can also be recalled that Kogi State Government was a beneficiary of the World Bank grant component of the World-Bank Assisted States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS).

Governor Yahaya Bello has pledged his commitment to continue to implement realistic financial policies that would guarantee prosperity for its people while it remained prudent and transparent in it's financial activities and engagements.
