Education › Re: President Jonathan's Mother Donates Hostel To Fed. University Otuoke by simpleseyi: 3:55pm On Aug 12, 2013
A woman whose savings plus her husband's savings was not enough to buy shoe for their son is now "donating" multi-million naira buildings to a school. Some idiots have said that GEJ is not Nigeria's worst president in history; now tell me which other Nigerian president from 1914 till date has a mother who also steals like the son? Which other Nigerian president do you know the mother's name and the mother's in-law's( rest-in-pieces) name? Which other Nigerian president has a wife who goes about fighting state governors like our Sheppopotamus? Does filfering, thiefry and pen-robbery run in their family linage? Is this "first family" a family of thieves just like James Ibori whose wife, sister and mistress are all in jail with him for stealing (pls this is a question not a statement)? If this mother of a thief dies in air, road or water crash now; some people will say "don't speak evil of the dead". Please what good can you say about this mother of a thief who also steals?

How do you explain that ex-millitants from the president's ethnic region get 65,000 naira monthly for doing nothing and graduate NYSC members get 19,000 naira monthly, police get 25,000 naira upward e.t.c. What about a kleptomaniac president and his wife who use one million to eat per meal and his ethnic godfathers and godsons say "it is our oyel money".

Let us go our ways and everyone will go and develop his/her region. Awolowo developed SW just like Ahmadu Bello turned his people to Almajaris and Ojukwu lead his people to destruction through un-prepared civil war.

Biafrans have been begging FG to build the 2nd Niger bridge for several years while Lagos Governor is performing miracles. In the last 2-3 years, 2 bridges has been commissioned for use and the light rail project is yet another miracle. The length of the Niger bridge is less than the length of the just commissioned Ikoyi-Lekki link bridge. Yet, five SE governors and six SS governors cannot build 2nd Niger bridge at least so that they will have easy movement to come and "develop Lagos". Very soon Biafrans will repeat "we own Lagos", "we developed Lagos". If I hear wen ... you go hear gbosa.

Massive Developments are going on especially in Road constructions and Jos is very Peaceful now, apart from isolated cases of clashes in few remote villages.

As for me, this meeting looks more organised than that Kangaroo one Ameachi was planning to organise the other time but never held it till date.

Governors forum is a forum for Governors. Whether they are 16 or 19 it doesn't make any difference as far as they meet to make Positive Imapact. It didn't say "All Governors Forum". So it is not compulsary for Ameachi and the five northern governors that have no work to do than spending tax payers touring the 36 states.
You are right my brother from another mother, afterall 16 is greater than 19 in NGF and 5 is greater than 27 in Rivers Assembly. Some people like you are still living and breathing because it is illegal to kill.

I thought you Ibos have learnt your lessons during the last civil war, but alas, I was wrong. You lost everything both human and material that you had in Nigeria from the North to the West and only got 200 pounds. You ought to learn from your fathers' mistakes, but you never will. Now you have started again, come on; bring it on; start another war; from the internet to the street and see if there will be any tribe called Ibo or Igbo or Biafra again. The few hundreds of you that will remain will probably be in Israel where you claim its your root and the Arabs will be waiting for you with their bombs because there is no peace (or piss) for the wicked, obedience is better than sacrifice. I just feel bad for you because I have meet some really really good Ibos even on Nairaland; but majority of you are still living because it is illegal to kill and you are yet to declare another unprepared war so that we (Yoruba/Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri/Igbira/Gwari/Edo e.t.c. including the Fulani cattle rearers) shall wipe you off the planet.

You own Lagos ko, your father own Lagos ni. That was how some nonentity Ibos contested election as Lagos State Governor sometimes ago and could not even get up to 5,000 votes out of your so called 40% Ibo population in Lagos. Your handshake is extending beyond the elbow; it is now becoming wrestling and we are ready for you.

Your wife, mother-in-law and friend want you to keep it secret because of their plan-B. The plan-B is to send hired assassins to delete you. Thereafter, they will decide what to do with your sister. Continue living with death at your own risk.

My advice: Tell your mother, brothers, sisters and father-in-law today and right this minute before these people delete you. The next 5 minutes may be too late. Don't let these devils use God to blackmail you.

Celebrities › Unending Saga Of Nollywood Divorces by simpleseyi(op): 9:37am On Aug 02, 2013
If marriages are meant to be celebrated then what happens to divorces? In the last couple of weeks what has been pouring out of Nollywood are stories of divorce. If there are any marriages, they are not hot enough to make good news. Okay, there are enough movies making their rounds of the cinemas and maybe some endorsement deals are being pulled off but aren’t they a bit of backstage stuff to take the shine out of these divorces?

With recent divorce of Nollywood superstar actress, Funke Akindele, it is no longer news that most marriages involving top Nollywood actresses hit the rocks just as soon as the oaths were taken. Maybe Funke’s drama with husband of barely one year tops the list, given the glamour that accompanied the solemnisation of their matrimony and the manner in which the separation was served to the public.

Everybody felt for Funke. At least the method employed by the husband, choosing the social media to break the news, even to his wife, got Funke a drove of sympathisers who were ready to take her husband apart. Maybe, that emboldened Funke because she has since shrugged it off and is already painting the town red as she was spotted last weekend, looking her smashing self at the Miss Global pageant .
Kayode and Funke on wedding day

Kayode and Funke on wedding day

Then Chika Ike steps into the mix. Although she has been separated from her husband, Tony Eberiri for close to two years but the glee with which she announced the divorce she got from an Abuja High Court on Monday set adrift once again another divorce saga which has an uncanny resemblance to that of Funke Akindele’s.

While Funke’s husband, Kehinde Oloyede took to Facebook to announce his separation from his wife, Chika chose Twitter to tell her fans that “she was finally free of Mr Tony Eberiri”. “I’m now officially divorced. Thanks,” she tweeted.

Funke and Chika may now be on the spot but they have a long list of others before them. While a lot has been speculated on why these marriages fail, investigations have revealed that top on the list are abuse, infidelity, violence and what they have come to term ‘irreconcilable differences’.

The story of Laide Bakare was another messy divorce saga. She was reportedly married to Mr. Okunfulire who unknown to her was married to another woman with two children. But most of the facts were not made public until Laide was delivered of a baby for another man, Mr Tunde Oriowo. She however had a daughter for her estranged husband. Her own case was termed “glaring injustice”.

Nollywood diva, Stella Damasus is probably unlucky. She lost her first husband, Jaiye Aboderin to the cold hands of death shortly after their marriage. After that, she tried to get on with life and tried her luck with Emeka Nzeribe. That luck did not hold as they separated just after two years, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

Saheed and Fathia Balogun were the perfect couple, almost a model for what a celebrity marriage should be until cracks in that perfect picture began to manifest. While Saheed accused Fathia of infidelity, Fathia was always crying of domestic violence from her partner. Willy-nilly the marriage crashed despite interventions from families and colleagues.
Chika-Ike-2

Although, Lola Alao, another Yoruba actress, has said she has forgiven her husband, Dare Ogunlana, allegations made by the man during the heat of the divorce saga are still fresh. Dare described Lola as “diabolical, deceitful and a woman not to be trusted”, to which the woman responded with maturity by keeping mum. In a recent interview Lola agreed his ex husband was a nice man but got carried away by the pain of the separation. According to her “that man is a very nice man, it just didn’t work out between us”, she said.

Ayo Adesanya and Goriola Hassan probably didn’t do badly. Their marriage lasted eight years and Ayo and her movie director husband were always together, in the house and on location until it seemed they got tired of seeing each other around. Ayo fingered ‘jealousy’ as the virus that stole into their home to eat out the nuptial knot.

It was hard to believe that Doris Simeon and her director husband, Daniel Ademinokan would go their separate ways after showing so much love and affection the way couples who seem to be in love do. They were married for a few years and then broke up. At a point, Doris accused her Daniel of scrounging on her.

Stephanie Okereke-Linus is now enjoying the bliss of her second marriage, her marriage to big boy Idahosa Linus. The A-list actress is said to have been very happy with her divorce from her ex-footballer husband Mike Iloanyusi, who, at a point allegedly completely likened Stephanie to a piece of football he played around. She divorced him on account of battery and infidelity. The breakup of the marriage of this top actress is said to be based on extra-marital affairs.

For Chiege Alisigwe, who was married to a UK-based businessman, she alleged that the man had other relationships. Unable to bear it, she came back to continue her life in Nigeria, where she met her present husband, an Enugu-based police officer.

After a number of failed marriages, fans were happy that Shan George had found love again, when she announced that she was getting married to Tony Nwosisi. They got married, but the marriage did not last, her reason, being ‘incompatibility’
eucharia-anunobi-1

*Eucharia

Eucharia Anunobi, now an evangelist married Charles Ekwu in 2000 and they divorced in 2009 on many grounds including infidelity, abandonment and lack of responsibility to their only child. She disclosed to an Ikeja High Court, how her ex-husband allegedly slept with their 13-year old housemaid several times in their matrimo-nial home. The suit was filed in 2007 but suffered several setbacks until 2009.

The list is endless. Hilda Dokubo, Monalisa Chinda, Foluke Daramola, Clarion Chukwura, Ngozi Ezeonu, Kate Henshaw, Jennifer Eliogu, Stephanie Okere and many more have experienced bitter pills of divorce and in most cases the reasons are not so dissimilar.

Most often than not, these super stars knew they were diving into troubled waters but for one reason or another they just didn’t give a damn. Funke Akindele’s husband was known to have fathered over ten kids by different women before Funke decided to settle with him.

Monalisa Chinda, who is romancing Lanre Nzeribe cannot say she is so wet behind the ears not to know that the guy is known as a top playboy. Many Nollywood actresses have also married at the expense of some other women who have had to relinquish their men to their beauty, fame and influence.

Christianity Etc › Rape In The Sanctuary by simpleseyi(op): 9:07am On Aug 02, 2013
The Church has since become a cracked record, no thanks to the randy pastors. Leaders fight dirty for positions.

If the full facts were known, we would easily find that 50 percent of the case loads in our courts emanate from the pulpit.

We defecate on the altar; rip off pages of the Bible to clean up; and go free. The pastor has lost the moral courage to question us.

rape-toon

After all, he has just completed a secret burial of a member of the choir that he impregnated and took through a failed abortion. It’s a sordid affair! In the beginning, the church was one place where people thought they could seek protection in times of trouble.

Every definition of rape, from Wikipedia to the Black’s Law Dictionary or the Nigerian Criminal Code, accepts basically the same attributes – sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person’s consent.

The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority or with a person who is incapable of valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated or below the legal age of consent.

The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (1999) estimates that 91 percent of rape victims are female, while nine percent are male. Conversely, 99percent of the offenders are male while one percent is female.

To qualify for rape, the act does not necessarily have to contain all the elements enumerated above. If we were to restrict ourselves to the issue of consent, Ed Gein, the Wisconsin necrophiliac would have remained totally innocent in rape records. Before he was arrested in 1957, Ed Gein was a sexually frustrated man who got a kick from digging up newly buried female corpses, using them to satisfy his sexual urge and eating parts of them.

In the past, anything was fair in war, love and politics. When an army captured a place, soldiers raped the girls with impunity. Rape was regarded as the spoils of war; the fringe benefit for soldiers. During the Nigerian civil war, it became a disadvantage to be beautiful. When the soldiers captured one of those coastal towns along the River Niger, a beautiful girl was held captive.

With the mother at the sitting room, ten soldiers lined up to take their turns in that single ‘borehole’. The girl was wailing in excruciating pains in the room, the mother was comforting her in their dialect: “My daughter, dooo, be patient, only five of them remaining”. This debit side of the war was commonplace.

The credit side was much brighter. The Northern soldiers married our beautiful girls as the war progressed and today, we have all the fine results to show for their efforts at uniting the nation all over the place.

Things are changing. In 1998, Judge Navanethem Pillay of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda declared: “From time immemorial, rape has been regarded as spoils of war. Now it will be considered a war crime. We want to send out a strong message that rape is no longer a trophy of war”. The happenings in the house of God in Nigeria today provide a most frightening glimpse into our future.

The message is coming out loud and clear, that rape is right if it is in the church. We have randomly picked up a few headlines in the newspapers of the past two weeks: “Pastor accused of raping minors at orphanage” – The Punch; “Court adjourns case against Pastor to September 24″; “Court remands pastor for alleged rape of church member” – Vanguard; “CAC Pastor allegedly rapes, impregnates church member”; “Pastor rapes and impregnates teenage girl in his church”; “Man, 40, rapes 10-month old girl inside church” – Online Nigeria; “Shameless Pastor rapes 12-year old girl” – Church Daily Post Nigeria; “Nigerian Bishop rapes female student…”. Call it sexual perversity or promiscuity, it is all happening in the church.

Enter Pastor Fidelis Eze of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Abudu Branch. It is a double-barrel attack: Paraded by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly raping two eleven-year-old girls.

And then, Pastor Philip Ogbebor – allegedly had carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old male member of his church; administered secret oaths on him and threatened to kill him if he told anyone.

Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze personally stated his own case. He was invited to minister at Calvary Army Ministry, Rumuoji Eneka in Obio Akpor LGA. After preaching, he went to rest. While he was resting, a girl came for deliverance. While he was yet pleading the blood of Jesus on the girl, she had undressed. Before he could restrain the girl, he was already reading her ‘New Testament’. Nwabueze says he had been set up by the host pastor because of the tussle over the chairmanship of the Rivers State Communion of Bishops. Meanwhile, a pregnancy has resulted and an abortion procured. Whichever way the coin falls, he is a culprit: head he loses; tail, he does not win. The chairmanship rivalry only succeeds in exposing another side – the dirty politics in the church.

Where do we go from here? First, rape is madness and like all mad people do, rapists deserve our prayers. The church must continually pray for them.

Second, rape is the moral equivalent of war and it must be treated as such! The more advanced democracies of the world are already facing it squarely. We have enough laws in our statute books to deal with the menace. While Section 358 of the Criminal Code prescribes life sentence for anyone found guilty of rape, Section 359 prescribes 14 years imprisonment for attempted rape.

Most importantly, true cleansing of the church must start from within. The easiest way of perpetuating evil is for good men to do nothing. Decent members of the church community cannot continue to watch while these randy pastors drag everyone deeper into the abyss. We want to hear the hot debates and correctional fights raging in their fold!

In the Islamic Republic of Iran, a disillusioned man poured acid on a beautiful lady last year because the lady refused his love or lust advances. Due to injuiry sustained as a result of the acid burns, the lady lost one of her eyes and also has her face disfigured. The case was taken to court, the judge asked the victim what she wanted and she replied that the want to pour acid on the man's face and specifically she wants to blind one of the man's eyes. The judge has ruled and granted all the victim's requests. The lady was still receiving treatment in the hospital while the culprit was in detention waiting for the victim to executive the court's judgement as at the last time I read about it. You can google this out. I think the same process should be applied to this. Take the case to court and let the victim demand retaliation. Simpler than A-B-C.

Politics › Ladipo Traders On Rampage by simpleseyi(op):
The crisis rocking the leadership of Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market, Mushin, took a new dimension on Thursday as the executive members of Ladipo Central Executive Auto Dealers Association and some of its members took to the streets protesting the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the Babaloja of the market.

LACEC and its numerous supports had on Thursday launched an attack on the Alhaji Oki led administration over what they described as an attempt to impose his authority on them. Alhaji Oki had organised some of his loyalists to clean the environment during the weekly environmental sanitation but were attacked by the aggrieved members of the LACEC who claimed that he was encroaching on their territory.

Addressing the protesters, President General, LACEC, Comrade Ikechukwu Animalu said that the union rejected the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the new Babaloja of Ladipo general market. “ Out of the 34 existing units in the market, Alhaji Oki controls only a unit. There is still an on going battle over his appointment as the new Babaloja. It was his attempt to impose his authority on us that led to the crisis that erupted on Thursday. We demand a formal election, so that the people will decide who their leader will be.

“We also appeal to the police to be fair in this controversial matter and call to order those who openly ordered us to either accept the imposition or return to our various states.”

On what led to the fight on Thursday, LACEC Secretary General, Pastor Steve Paul Ijioma said: “There has been controversy over the imposition of Alhaji Oki as the Babaloja. This led to several clashes and it was agreed that Alhaji Oki should restrict his authority in his unit pending when the matter is sorted out. During the environmental sanitation, he encroached on our territory and we resisted. The protest is to pass the message across that we do not want his leadership rather a free and fair election should be conducted. It is a pity that an Area Commander could openly ask us to accept Babaloja or return to our various states.”

Also at the protest was the royal father of the market, Chief Michael Nwosu who also said: “ 99 percent of marketers in Ladipo are Igbo. To be fair to all, he should come and contest if elected he will be accepted.

“We appeal to the South East governors, Igbo leaders across the globe to come to our aid. They asked us to go back to our villages, if we are not ready to accept the leadership of Alhaji Oki. We pay our taxes in Lagos and have every right as Nigerians to buy and sell anywhere in the state.”

When Saturday Sun visited Alhaji Oki’s section of the market, it was littered with broken bottles and the two cars allegedly destroyed during the fracas. He said that he was ready to dialogue with aggrieved members of LACEC to find a way forward. “I was nominated two years ago to be installed the Babaloja of the market. LACEC through several petitions frustrated that move and the process was delayed. However two months ago, the late Abibat Mogaji finally installed me. To pass their message across they did not attend my installation, which was held in June 27, 2013.
