It's not true. SAF told the whole world inside Old Trafford that Rooney requested for a transfer but he will not be allowed to go.

The Madrid incidence was a one off. Rooney protested his position in the first leg by his body language, then SAF got Giggs into the team for some defensive duties as well as Welbeck tracking back. I see that as a quiet war between Rooney and SAF. Rooney didn't want to sacrifice for Kagawa, he didnt mind such those days.
