ToyinDipo:You're missing the point. The point I'm pointing out is that Xavi didn't become the midfield general he is by showboating or scoring tons of goals, but by assists and simple passes which helped his team-mates to achieve victories. |
weedtaker:I'm not ashamed we lost to Madrid, inexperience cost us. I actually believe in this team more than that of last season. If Mourinho changes tactics, we'll be good. We lost coz of our poor first-half, but it's nothing. We've time to gel and get things right the next time. As for Pogba, he's talented, but only if he'll calm down let his feet do the talking. I don't even need goals from him, just assists, simple passes and no showboating, and he'll shine. |
ToyinDipo:And you wonder why the likes of Xavi, Scholes, Lampard became legends for their team. None of these names above were after showboating. He'd continue with the showboating, I'll be here to see where it'll lead him to. |
Our match wasn't that bad. We started good but got worse soon as Madrid got their groove back. Mourinho never learns. He might have improved the DM position and replaced Ibra with a capable Lukaku, but the LB and RW position will cost us again this season. Darmian was okay defensively buy offered nothing tangible going forward. Our wing play which in modern football pattern, are assisted by marauding full-backs, was poor. Mhikitaryan was drifting into the midfield to create chances and left the wing all for Valencia. Valencia needs a RWinger in front of him to help him run at defenders. Lingard got no support from Darmian going forward. Meanwhile Carvajal and Marcelo were running up and down their flanks. What is so great in Blind and Darmian that Mourinho doesn't fancy a LB? Valencia is not young anymore and can do with a winger stretching our opponents. Lindeolf needs to improve, his lapse in concentration will cost us if not curtailed. But he wasn't too bad. DDG is a class act. Matic improved greatly and if Pogba was not busy being a dìck, he might have had a great game for the entire match. Ukaku, apart from the offside decision and goal he missed, had a good game. He's hold-up play and strength helped us, and if he had a SS beside him, he'd have performed much better. In all, this team needs 2 good additions and change of tactic from the coach and we're good to go. 3-5-2 won't be bad, it'll help Ukaku with a partner and get rid of Darmian from the traditional back four. Matic really impressed me, and together with Ukaku might prove me wrong. Onto the next one. |
joeace2020:The first goal was an illegitimate goal, it doesn't change the fact that we're outrun in the midfield and allowed them have all the time to produce that goal. Our midfield play was poor immediately Madrid came into the game in the first-half. |
ToyinDipo:I'm tired if reading this BS. No-one is denying his football sense or talent, but please of what use is this football sense if we don't get to see it? Of what use is this football sense if his showboating keeps hindering his talent from shinning through? He'd drop his foolishness and grow up or else the football sense will be waste. |
PietroRico:Sigh all you want but note this, until Pogba decide to drop his showboating and grow up, he'll never match the amount we paid for him. It's the second season and simple passes to free up his team-mates seems like a Herculean task for him. Just see how Mhikitaryan was carving open Madrid defence, running with the ball, things Pogba ought to be doing. Mhikitaryan is wasting on the wings and Pogba is busy refusing to drop his star player dreams. |
ToyinDipo:You're wrong. What he lacks is common sense. The day he decides to grow up, he'll fulfill his potentials. |
AdisaOwala:When we were against his purchase, they thought we were hating. Now they're realising a little too late. |
ToyinDipo:No-one expects a 100% percent from Pogba, we just want him to grow up and get common sense. Is that too much to ask? The showboating helps no-one, why can't he drop it? Do simple things, don't worry about being the star player and play for team. That's all. The talent is there but he's wasting it. |
Rashford is good player but his lack of experience is still holding him back. I believe in this team, a little tweaking and we'll go far this season. Ukaku and Matic were impressive this match. |

pamcode:These are fee things needs to get right and this team will be good enough to compete. 1. Get a RB. A look at Marcelo and Carvajal tells you all you need to know. I'm tired of stressing this point. 2. Get a proper winger and stop wasting Mhikitaryan's talent on the wings. If Pogba can't play through the middle bench him. Stop petting him. 3. Switch to 3-5-2 and add a supporter for Lukaku 4. And the most important thing, teach these lads how to mark and press. Our marking is too damn irritating. BTW, Lindeolf is guilty for our second conceding. His decision to leave Bale to play that 1-2 is saddening. SMH. |
Nihilstjnr:He makes simple things look so difficult. The day he gives up this foolishness and play for the team, he'll realise his true potential. |
CapitalCee:Hopefully, it's all mind games and nothing serious from Mourinho coz I don't want Bale near our team. |
iPopAlomo:Typical Gayners fans, when una get match, y'all disappear like the fart of a miserable old village witch, but when it's the match day of others, y'all gather around like the meeting of geriatric village men. ![]() |
CapitalCee:Mourinho's choices baffles me sometimes. Imagine saying he'll "fight" for Bale to join us. Fight for who FFS? Someone that would cost us not less than 90m, not in his early 20s, so injury prone he might end up giving us 2 months out of a possible 6, and is on 300k+ week wages? We're still suffering from Shaw's injuries travails and Mourinho wants to add his twin brother to our problem? Where's the wisdom in this kinda deal? After dodging the James and Morata bullet, are we going to foolishly fund Perez's domination project? If we're not getting the likes of Isco or Asensio, then we shouldn't be doing any deal with Madrid. I hope Bale plays today and ruin that Bale dream of Mourinho. |

Bimffo:Well, I think people see things differently, or maybe because I'm not a Chelsea fan I wouldn't see it the way you're seeing it. To me, I don't see it as a generational curse kinda thing but more like a normal football bants, though I'm likely to agree I'd be annoyed if I was a Chelsea fan on this scenario. When we lost 3-0 to you guys, I was in a foul mood and I decided to hide offline to avoid replying trolling from rivals in a caustic manner, so on that day, every trolling seemed very annoying to me, even when a Chelsea fan copied the signature move of DopeJemi's "long may your woes" it irked me. So I agree I may not find it funny depending on my mood, but I'll never take it to the extent of thinking it's a generational curse. At the end of the day, it's all bants for me. Nothing more. |
Bimffo:You're getting emotional about this. He's not cursing the generations of anyone; it's just footie bants. What he typed is just like wishing Chelsea keeps losing matches same thing Chelsea fans wishes on their rivals. It's like when you see rival fans, of which Chelsea fans are among, on this board partying on United thread when we lose. It's like when you read comments wishing we'd lose the Europa League final, or comments saying how they dislike United and want them relegated, etc. Rival fans are guilty of this, it's football bants. It has nothing to do with anyone's generation. Don't get worked up over it. |

diggz:You're right, I feel the same way as well from Conte's recent interviews. I gerrit now. Plus I feel the club is not trying to support Conte as he much as he wants, though i can't say for sure what goes on behind the scene. I say this because in Mourinho's case, when he said he wanted more, he acknowledged that Woodward was trying his best to get him those he wanted. But Conte when saying he needs more signing is not in anyway suggesting the club is trying their best to get him more players. Unless the club are trying but Conte doesn't want to reveal it, I feel he's not confident of the way the club is handling their transfer business. |
hensben:It's obvious Conte needs more players to put a quality fight on all fronts this coming season, and the club not getting him more players is reducing his confidence as he tries to avoid Chelsea having another calamitous season after a title-winning one. While he's right to complain, he'd try not allow his player get poached especially with Barca having enough money to strike. Losing his best player in addition with lesser squad depth is a disaster waiting to happen. When the likes of Ferguson kept boasting that they won't sell their best player, they're simply trying to discourage the buyers to back off and to try their lucks in seeing if they can keep their stars, not that they didn't know their stars can choose to leave on certain circumstances. Conte should be bold in declaring that Hazard won't leave before he even encourages Hazard to force a move. He'd learn from Wenger on Sanchez's matter. |
BlueAngel444:I don't usually do this, but when you've two unreplied mails needing urgent attention, then it's a caring gesture to call the owner of the mails' attention to them. Diggz, abeg these mails too hot. Come sign make I deliver them to you. ![]() |
diggz:Lordfalcao is 100% right. Like it or not, the club has the final decision, and nowadays, the players too. Conte can't stop Hazard leaving if the club decide to sell him, the highest thing he'll do is to resign in protest. He's an employee of the club. Same way the club can't stop Hazard from leaving if the buyout cause is paid and the player officially submits a transfer request. The Neymar saga should show you that players weild huge powers. The only problem here is that Conte is too TRUTHFUL or should I say, too BLUNT when questions are asked of him sometimes. For example, Klopp is saying Coutinho is going nowhere even though he knows deep in his heart he can leave depending on the circumstances. Ferguson once famously said he wouldn't sell that mob (Madrid) a virus, but later sold Ororo to them. What Conte should be saying in this Hazard's scenario is refusing bluntly to suggestions that Hazard could leave. Being defiant that Hazard wouldn't leave for any reason, even though he knows it's possible. Coaches do it all the time, even if they end up selling that player, everyone would understand. Conte's words encourages clubs to target Hazard easily. |
Lana1:Even if you type this explanation in Yoruba or Pidgin language, he's too eternally stupid to grab the message you're passing across. |
kokaneprodigy:Everything is not an avenue to troll or showcase your inherent tomfoolery. I don't know what your problem is: is it that you're suffering from Macular degeneration or acute Glioblastoma? Where in that post did I mention Neymar talk more of placing Pogba in the same level with Neymar? Do you have püssy quifs whenever you read my posts and feel the urge to quote me at all cost? My post was centered on the fact that the transfer market is more crazy than I thought, and if we hadn't bought Pogba last season, but instead went for him in this current TW, we'd be looking at a sum of £120 million. How am I consoling myself? Do you think Juventus would've agreed to sell Pogba to us for £89m in this current TW? Someone with no buyout clause and can cost as much as the highest bidder can pay? I'm not shocked that you're having mental torture at the sight of my post, when you're a prodigy and poster child for Cocainė upbringing according to your moniker, it's not far-fetched that you'll be running amok from thread to thread displaying the traits of a madman that just got denied of his daily dose of crack cocaine. You have an incurable stupidity, seek help fast before you'll get lynched like the infamous Badoo members. |
I'm just sitting here reminiscing; what if we hadn't gotten Pogba last season, what is his fee going to be this time around? Getting Pogba last season at that amount now looks cheap. If we'd gone for him this season, nothing less than £120 million will be required to buy to him. It's crazy, mehn. |
hensben:You have serious deep-rooted issues, mate. It might be spiritual, who knows. A neat and concise post detailing what Lingard brings to the table which is different from that of Martial's, yet you're asking a ridiculously dumb question. You don't understand English in the daytime or what? This is 2017 and your brain is running on Windows 95. SMH. |
