Chelseafan1:
I have a feeling the 89m blown on Pogba would even make it hard for y'all to get good players for cheap. This is not even my problem because I feel it's now a general problem. My problem is how do we solve the Pogba best position conundrum? We're yet to know where he excels. He's talented but so far we're yet to fully see that. As a DM or AM, his stats doesn't make him our best in either of the positions. Your defence + GK aren't doing bad IMO, na to create chances and score goals be the major problems. My defense is shît, bro. Chelsea can never win anything tangible with Smalling and Jones. They can't even stay fit for 2 months. Smalling is uber stupid. We need top CBs at least 2. Then we need 2 DMs to help provide additional protection for them just like Kante and Matic does. |

Inter team had better players than us. Milito, Eto'o, Zanetti, Motta, Lucio, Walter Samuel, Chivu, etc. They're definitely not the best team but they were resilent, strong, scored with few chances and most importantly better than this our team. But if Mourinho can improve other places we need recruitments in, then I don't mind him getting James. |

If that Guidettii of a guy wasn't so wasteful, you probably wouldn't be coming up with such prediction. During the first-leg against Celta we had a lot of chances though. Our chances reduced immediately Mourinho gave up on top 4 and instructed the lads to defend like Championship teams. |

Diademk07: Mkhi is a winger na or maybe a wing forward.. All I know is he's looked better for us on the wing than in the centre just like he did at Dortmund and when I say on the wing, I mean on the right wing. The problem is Mkhi operates on space and when there's no space for him, he's often tosh.
Personally I would love to see him as a box-box CM for us because I've heard he looked good in the position for his country and I think he did well in the position at Shaktar although I haven't seen him play there but as far as I'm concerned, he was rubbish as a no 10 for Dortmund until he was moved to the wing and hasn't covered himself in glory in the few times he played as a no 10 for us either.
Another thing to worry about is his stamina. He gets tired too easily. Hence, I don't know how that box-box position is feasible.
But let me ask you this, if we have 2 DM to partner Herrera in the midfield where is the AM position that Pogba/Mhki/Mata is supposed to play? @ embolden, the double DMs is to replace those like Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin that we've lost. It could also be one DM and one CM as long as we replace those we've lost. Fellani also need to leave, so basically we need recruitments in that CM/DM roles. |

afrodoc2: We can't be stockpiling AMs all over the place. We need true wing forwards and pacy CFs to stretch the defence both laterally and vertically.
If JM wants 4-2-3-1 next season I would prefer Mikki and one other person to compete for that position and if James comes that person would be him leaving Mata out. If JM wants 4-3-3 I don't think James solves our problems, however if he comes then it makes sense that it is to replace Mata. Having said all that Mata staying won't get me too bothered AS LONG AS FELLAINI GOES. Exactly what we need - true wing forwards. I don't know what these coaches of ours are smoking not to know this. |

afrodoc2: In that role he will drift inside, leaving the job of width and crossing to only Valencia and we know that is DOA. Also he will allow the LB and LW to combine and pummel Valencia in our half. He is a luxury player best accommodated as a 10. We should stop stockpiling all these no 10s masquerading as wingers or wing forwards. If James comes it's only natural Mata goes. Thank you. I said this earlier today. This is what we've been suffering under LvG and Mourinho. Our LB and RB has been ineffective because of the embolden. See how Chelshit wing backs protects the back-3, us, we have AMs that leave their positions to be dragging midfield positions leaving our full-backs vulnerable to attacks. I'm just tired!! |

I think he wil flop. elampiro_, afrodoc2_, ibime_ nihilist_ a40_ what do you think
Another latin player who grudgingly comes to Man Utd for a huge fee. I dont se James as someone that will be defending against a full back like Mourinho wants
I want to see how Miki, Pogba, Herrera James etc will lineup next season Apart from adding DEPTH to our squad, I don't see the need of Rodriguez purchase. As I stated earlier, I'm not a huge fan of the fella. I like him but I've never see him as that urgent solution to our failings. Rodriguez's position is that of an AM and we have Mhiki, Mata and even Pogba (he doesn't cut it for me as my typical DM) that can play that position. Place Rodriguez any other position and he becomes useless. This is why the embolden part in your post becomes a headache for me and why I don't want him. Getting him will make Mourinho to shunt Mhiki to the wings or even him to the wings and they flop and we're back to level zero all over again. What Mourinho nerds to do is to address the key areas/spine of the team so that can flourish even with this average players. First, we need an LB, either of Mendy, Sandro or even Alba of Barcelona who's having a frosty relationship with Enrique. Any of these guys are not injury prone like Shaw. Get 2 solid CBs and dispatch Smalling and Jones. Smalling for being useless and Jones for being injury prone. With Bailly, Rojo, Tuanzebe and these two solid CBs, we're okay in that department. Leave the RB for Valencia and Fosuh-Mensah. Buy 2 solid DMs to partner Herrera. I suggest someone like Matuidi and Bakayoko. We need to add steel to that midfield. EPL is very physical. Get a RWinger. Very, very, very important. We keep ignoring this wing and using AMs like Mata leaving Valencia to struggle and that wing to be useless. If we can we can land Dembele and Willian, that place is covered. My ideal RWinger is a tricky pacy left-footed winger like Robben or Messi to cut in and also run at defenders. Unfortunately, I can't find those type of quality currently. Then leave Pogba, Mhiki and Mata to run our AM/CM. For LW, either trust Martial to regain his form or try snatching Sanchez to add to the quality on that wing. Even Rashford can play there if Martial loses form or gets injured. Thrn finally get a top CF. A proven goalscorer like Aubameyang. Mbappe has that potential but he'll cost us up to 90mil which is madness. Belloti is up for 90mil last I read which is outrageous. Plus they're still one-season wonders. Can we trust them? I'd rather go for Aubameyang and take the risk. With the above, I don't need both Griezman and Rodriguez. They're not the main solution IMHO. |

eph12: With the right support and tactics, Martial can hold 2-3 players down on the left side. He just needs an intelligent overlapping left back to build a connection with. That is what we should be looking for. Mendy is that guy, fast, strong, injury free. Shaw could have been that guy but I've lost all hope on him. Mendy of Monaco or Sandro of Juve are good options that Martial needs. |

eph12: It's very obvious. Unless we just look at names and get excited, there's nothing to suggest Mkhi will perform better than Martial in that left wing. With Mhiki, you'll get someone that will drift into the AM position to try and create passes for the CF to score. His dribbles always come from that position as well as his assists. But he leaves the RB of our opponents free from attack. But Martial at his best stretches the RB of our opponents and keeps him busy and pinned back. That's what should be the main work of a winger, if occasionally scores like CR7, then that's a bonus. Martial needs the trust of his coach and he'll be back. The talent is there, you'd see it at Tottenham what he could do when he plays well. Mourinho should just handle him with care and trust him more or we lose him. |

Mkhi performed better in the hole but then he gets crowded easily. This is true. Now, I think the readon for bringing up those players was to be able to calm the game down and players playing their "suitable" positions too. Also, the way JM managed these players from now till Europa Cup finals matter. Another reason he gave was that he brought them on to give those players reasonable amount of playing time to keep them in shape ahead of the finals. So it's a legit reason. |

What if Mhiki or Rash got injured? Since he's given up on top 4, he'd preserve those he wants for the finals and play feeders team for the rest of the matches. I don't want few key players like Herrera getting injured. |

Jose needs grown-ups
For what it’s worth, I think Winty was harsh on United and Mourinho this morning, though I can’t deny it was a poor performance (and those have been pretty standard at home unfortunately). But it strikes me as odd that all of the blame seems to get heaped on Mourinho, who inherited a bloated yet experienced squad that somehow had virtually no leaders in it. Mourinho acquired Ibra, Pogba and Bailly in the summer, and has founded his team around them, Valencia and Herrera. Those are the only players who seem to take the level of responsibility that you’d expect. Fergie usually had XIs that could have had 8-9 people as captain (one year we had about 10 international captains) because you need leaders all over the pitch. This also isn’t helped by the older players in the squad, like Fellaini and Young, being the weaker ones. Mourinho does get criticised for his summer and January activity in hindsight, but what was he supposed to do, literally swap the entire squad in a single season? The simple fact is, he inherited a huge number of players who aren’t grown-up enough to handle big games. This is best highlighted in defence, where Smalling, Jones and Blind (who was truly abysmal yesterday), along with Darmian and Shaw, all seem to rely on someone else to do their job half the time. Midfield isn’t as bad but we lack someone to control the game from the base of a midfield three. Carrick is now too slow, and weirdly too careless all of a sudden, and it’s also clear Schweinsteiger was no better. The loss of Ibra and Rooney’s wretched form has meant that we lack a focal point in attack either, and it’s a lot to ask a 19 year old to do it. Basically, there aren’t many grown ups in the squad nowadays, and this needs to be rectified in the summer. A centre back to partner Bailly (especially with Rojo’s injury), a replacement for Carrick, and probably a high profile forward are the priorities – and the other squad players to come in need to have serious character. Arsenal have demonstrated what happens when you let average players fester and continuously sign new contracts (Walcott anyone?). I think Mourinho needs to be ruthless in the summer and finish the clear out. There’s a case for Carrick, Rooney, Blind, Darmian, Fellaini, Young, Smalling, Jones and Shaw all not being good enough. I would keep Shaw as he has bags of potential, and Blind/Darmian are versatile, but the others need to go and bring in young and hungry players (Axel, TFM, Perreira) and some players with character. JD, MUFC http://www.football365.com/news/mails-dont-be-blind-to-uniteds-progress-under-joseI concur. |
