You said it all. Teams like Madrid and barca especially seem to guarantee trophies one way or the other so players who are at their peak will want to play for them to win something at least even if they were not regular.

And these clubs know it so they are not afraid to target best players from other clubs to keep their standard.

We need to start winning the major trophies and become really relevant again.

You cant force a player to sign for you. According to reports Auba has been in advanced talk with PSG for a while now. They are in pole position to sign him. Lets give the coach some benefit of doubt .

My only grouse is the figure being touted but in todays crazy market where 70 million is being quoted for virgil van dirk what options do we have.

Several Reports also claim Varane wants to move to old trafford to get regular playing time but i doubt if madrid will allow 2 major players to sign for us same season.

Morata should be a decent addition to our squad - he is an efficient striker who would most likely deliver if given the right service.

However, I think we shoulda pushed for Auba instead - Dortmund would probably have sold him for the purported amount being quoted for the Spaniard.

We may need to get a quality winger who can also function effectively as a #9 cos tbh, Morata & Rashford as our Major options in the CF position may not be enough to compete on all fronts.

FYI he is stronger than Auba and has got better hold up play. Morata is a hybrid striker... good physique, fast feet and clinical finishing.

I hope we don't pay more than 60M pounds.

If he wins the Balon D'or, he wins only because Real Madrid as a unit was spectacular this season, and not because he played better than Leo.

Recency effect would also work in his favour as we tend to remember and be more influenced by the first and last ithings/items on a list or series of events. And since the UCL is the last major tournament of the season, tonight's win will be more remembered and ultimately result in more biased judgements.

Congrats to Real anyway. They deserved it. That stout demon called Modric is something else.
