codedguy1: You said it all. Teams like Madrid and barca especially seem to guarantee trophies one way or the other so players who are at their peak will want to play for them to win something at least even if they were not regular.
And these clubs know it so they are not afraid to target best players from other clubs to keep their standard.
We need to start winning the major trophies and become really relevant again. That's it. To put an end to these poaching by those Spanish wolves, we need success - huge ones. When Madrid comes to buy our players, who do they go for? Our BEST PLAYERS, from Beckham, to CR7, and recently, DDG. You won't see those vultures go for Lingard or Mata. But what do we do when we go for theirs? We go for the crumbs, the rejects - Morata and Rodriguez. Barcelona for years now haven't been linked with any United player, suddenly Hererra performs brilliantly this season and immediately Barca are reportedly targeting him. They didn't come Fellani o, they came for our best. See where I'm going to? This is why I am against us buying all these rejects, why not go for premium and get Aubameyang? Get solid starters like Mendy etc. We should stop settling for less. |

Tvegas: You cant force a player to sign for you. According to reports Auba has been in advanced talk with PSG for a while now. They are in pole position to sign him. Lets give the coach some benefit of doubt .
My only grouse is the figure being touted but in todays crazy market where 70 million is being quoted for virgil van dirk what options do we have.
Several Reports also claim Varane wants to move to old trafford to get regular playing time but i doubt if madrid will allow 2 major players to sign for us same season. Ignore those useless "reports", Varane won't leave regular playing time, better shot at UCL and La Liga success with Madrid to come to United that are still struggling. Only a crazy fee would make Madrid sell Varane who's young and the future of their CBs. @embolden, very true. When I saw the amount for Van Dirjk, I stopped blaming United for Morata's amount that much, though i feel as a non-starter he still cost much. |

Lana1: We'll buy Morata now and hopefully he'll ball for us. And by the time he's 27, we start hearing "Madrid is my home and i love United. But the weather here, my family in Spain blah blah blah...."
These Spanish players cant be trusted especially if they already played for Madrid or Barca at some point... Lol. It's usually lack of success that makes those cunning Spanish fuckěrs to utter such nonsense. DDG comes to mind. If we're doing great for the past few seasons, we wouldn't have been worried about those Madrid vultures breathing down our necks. I mean even Hazard who said he wanted to stay at Chelshit and be revered like Terry did a u-turn and said he'll consider Madrid's offer. These bîtches masquerading as players ain't loyal. People like Totti and Co are of rare breeds. Hard to find. |

AdisaOwala: Morata should be a decent addition to our squad - he is an efficient striker who would most likely deliver if given the right service.
However, I think we shoulda pushed for Auba instead - Dortmund would probably have sold him for the purported amount being quoted for the Spaniard.
We may need to get a quality winger who can also function effectively as a #9 cos tbh, Morata & Rashford as our Major options in the CF position may not be enough to compete on all fronts. May? Not may o, it's a MUST. We need to help whoever is our CF by getting him quality wingers on both sides who can supply him with quality services and also contribute to our goals. The likes of Barca, Madrid, Bayern etc have these top wingers that are more like wing-forwards and contribute with assists and goals. Mourinho will be doing a great disservice to our CFs if we go into this season with Mata being our winger or Darmian playing in the LB role thereby not helping our CFs in attack. I've been saying this for ages now. |

I guess it is Morata vs Lukaku next season There's no Morata vs Lukaku anything. You guys, especially you, are the ones fond of bringing up unnecessary comparisons. Did you see any of us on your thread like you did on ours trying to mock Lukaku's purpoted £80m deal to Chelshit? The same Lukaku you guys argued for months that he's not good enough for Chelshit, but you're now trying to act like he's the best thing since slice bread. We're not even overly excited over the Morata deal as you can see many of us wanted someone better. Stop giving yourself headache over our potential recruits and worry about yours. |

olabode89: Are you referring to Morata??
FYI he is stronger than Auba and has got better hold up play. Morata is a hybrid striker... good physique, fast feet and clinical finishing.
I hope we don't pay more than 60M pounds. I don't really fancy the guy but the amount we're paying for him is my gripe with the whole ish. I take solace in the fact that 1. Our transfers under Mourinho last season ended up having no flops. 2. He's not a jambody footballer that I didn't want for United, the main reason I didn't want Lukaku near OT. So he might just prove me wrong. Let's hope he succeeds for us. |

Say wetin happen? Kane na Messi or Ororo? Make we kukuma sell Old Trafford for en head join. Why waste that amount on a single player when we can get Aubameyang and even Costa/Lukaku join? Kane is a quality striker no doubt, but don't allocate excess value to him, mbok. |

dubylhover: I tell people that benzema is the perfect striker for Madrid..the was Madrid plays, they need a no9 who knows how to drift out and link up play well, cos of ronaldo, you need to satisfy hos ego..Madrid needs a top 9 who wouldn't start dragging goals with ronaldo and benzema is just a perfect mould for that character,d other striker who might fit that pattern a bit is lewandowski, cos he's also a very good player aside goals Very true. Benzema of Lyon was more goal oriented, but he had to drop those ambitions for Ororo to shine and for the system to work perfectly coz we all know Ororo guarantees more goals than anyone who's not answering Messi. Benzema does his job well and he's not required to score much goals especially if Ororo is on fire. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by sinizia: 8:26am On Jun 04, 2017 |
GloryIsaac: Being unable to displace Benzema is as a result of seniority which is maintained at Madrid, performance wise, Morata should have started ahead of Benzema... Nah, bro. I used to have this thought but the events of the past few weeks have changed all that. Nepotism might be among the reasons why Zidane chooses Benzema over Morata, but Benzema does a job that Morata can't do for Madrid. Benzema is a team player, one who's ever ready to drop his goal ambitions so his team and especially Cr7 can shine. Benzema hustles up front, dragging defenders wide, using his strength and power to put pressure on the defenders of oppositions which provides a perfect avenue for Ororo who walks around the pitch without doing much defensive work to spring up at deadly positions to break oppositions' hearts. Ororo is getting old and rarely does any defensive work (even in his younger days he was like this but not this bad), he's now more like counter-attacker, a predator stalking his prey ready to pounce at the deadliest moment. Benzema provides the perfect weapon to distract defenders from focusing on Ororo thereby giving Ororo the perfect chance to act as a false 9 and keep scoring. Morata can't do all these. He has a healthy return in terms of goals this season, but having Ororo and Morata on the same pitch all the time means those aforementioned attributes I listed up there will be lacking in Madrid's games. Morata can't link up play like Benzema does. Morata would be bullied off the game easily unlike Benzema. Benzema has sacrificed his goals for Ororo to shine. |

DarkRebel69: TapNaldo could win the UCL all he wants, it still doesn't change the fact that he was out-performed this season. Out-performed by the diminutive Argentine! If he wins the Balon D'or, he wins only because Real Madrid as a unit was spectacular this season, and not because he played better than Leo.
Recency effect would also work in his favour as we tend to remember and be more influenced by the first and last ithings/items on a list or series of events. And since the UCL is the last major tournament of the season, tonight's win will be more remembered and ultimately result in more biased judgements.
