Education › Re: UNIZIK Denies Claims That 40% Of Staff Watch Pornography by sinola(m): 10:22pm On Dec 02, 2017
nghubs1:
There have been report on media outlets(not NGHUBS.COM) that 40% of the staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University watch pornography during office hours.

The report further claimed that the university Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ahaneku had restricted access yo YouTube to restrict such act.

However, the university administration had denied making such speculations.

According to a statement by the university Director of Information Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu and made available to NGHUBS.COM , the university described the information as false.

Dr Ojukwu said that during the last senate meeting the general productivity of the staff were discussed.

He added that there was no specific mention of any percentage of those watching these movies was made. And also no such word as 'pornography' was mentioned.

The statement reads

"In the course of discussion generally about staff productivity in the last Senate meeting, the VIce Chancellor including other Senators condemned truancy, lateness, watching of 'inappropriate' videos including home movies during office hours.

"No specific mention of any percentage of those watching these movies was made. And also no such word as 'pornography' was mentioned.

"As a result the Vice Chancellor added that measures were being taken to monitor and make sure that staff do the work for which they get paid.

"It is therefore a complete surprise that some persons are peddling falsehood in the media to achieve a hidden objective.

"While the University appreciates the right of persons to spread information, distorted information could be injurious to society's wellbeing.

"We therefore implore all our staff, students, alumni, and friends of our great University to please ignore this current machinations of mischief makers whose only aim is to tarnish the hard earned reputation of our University."

Adieza:
In my opinion this is one of what Church should be doing.

"Thumb up!

T B Joshua gives out N4.4m to deportees from Libya in one week

The general overseer of the Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T. B. Joshua, has helped Libya deportees with N4.4m this week

For some days now, social media has been agog with many Nigerians talking against the slave trade and maltreatment of Nigerians and other black people in Libya. This issue has raised lots of dust as to who to do what and what to do to make things right. Aside from speaking against it, the 54-year-old cleric known for his humanitarian habits, revealed he empowers deportees weekly. He went on to also say he has spent a total of N4,450,000 this week on deportees from Libya, without questioning their religion or tribe.

Read below:

As the influx of Nigerians being deported from Libya continues, The SCOAN continue to help in the best way they can - with love in action and words of comfort. Having stared death and brutality in the face – they can now appreciate life.

In bids to ‘make it in life’ the mostly young Nigerians, aged from 15 upwards, travelled illegally in hope of a better future abroad. Many complained of being deceived that the journey would take two weeks and the more you paid to make the trip the smoother it would be. Today, ask them and they will tell you there is nothing smooth about an illegal road trip that entails hunger, hijackings, beatings, kidnappings, brutality and all kinds of abuse.
The church receives an endless flow of such deportees and on a weekly basis, they are given millions of naira. This week alone N4,450,000 was given to the deportees - without question of their religion, belief or background - alongside food and further assistance.

"The beauty of life is not how happy you are but how happy others can be because of you." - T.B. Joshua"

HeWrites:
The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned two men for allegedly using the name of a dead Surveyor to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

The accused, Moses Ayodele and Oluwatobi Ononuga, were arraigned at Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Ogudu, for impersonation, forging of stamp and seal belonging to the late surveyor.

The accused were said to have conspired with others still at large, to commit felony to with impersonation and forgery, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Ayodele and Ononuga were also accused of forging a stamp and seal belonging to a deceased registered surveyor, late Victor Okolo to prepare counterfeit survey plans to unsuspecting members of the public, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 365 subsection (1) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

However, a petition signed by Barrister Shamsideen Olaleye, who acted as solicitors to Gracias Property and Sylvia Property, claimed that Ayodele presented himself as a registered surveyor to their companies and they have had him on the list of the companies’ consultants as one of the companies registered surveyors.

According to the petition, Ayodele has drawn many survey plans for many individuals who had purchased landed properties from the companies without any of them suspecting that the survey plans were fake.

Crime › Re: Sergeant Lanre Sanusi Killed (Policeman Who Tracked & Arrested Evans) by sinola(m): 9:42pm On Nov 14, 2017
BounceNigeria:
Super Cop Who Arrested Evans Has Been Killed

The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) under the watch of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Abba Kyari at the weekend, lost one of its gallant officers to the cold hands of death.

The gallant officer was one of the leading ‘field detectives’ who tracked and demystified Lagos based billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuadike aka Evans.

It was in the middle of a similar arrest that the suspect pumped bullets into Lanre’s stomach while his colleague got shot in the hand.

Unperturbed by the surprise attack, both the late Sergeant and others chased after the kidnappers and killed the man that fired the killer shots.

The bullets lodged in their bodies were later extracted with medical teams on ground confirming that the injured Policemen were responding to treatment.

But tragedy struck a few days later. It was discovered that Sergeant Lanre who had opened his eyes and exchanged pleasantries with his colleagues, gave up the ghost.

“It is really sad and painful altogether. We have not been able to tell his wife and other family members yet. This is the risk of the job we are talking about; we put our lives on line for others, yet when it is time for promotion, one thing or the other will happen and the list will be kept in view.

“Look at this now, Sergeant Lanre was one of the men that put his life on the line to arrest Evans and now he is dead. We don’t even know how to break the news to his wife and family. It is painful,” one of his colleagues said at the weekend.

The commander of IRT, ACP Kyari, is said to be in deep pain over Lanre’s death.

A source close to his office that confirmed the tragic exit of Sergeant Lanre said arrangements are already being made for a befitting burial.

Self acclaimed Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has taken to social media to shade the heck out of OAP Daddy Freeze over his tithing controversy.

The actor who shared a picture collage of himself alongside Apostle Suleiman and Daddy Freeze, disclosed that Nigerians will take Freeze more seriously if he fixes his marriage with his first wife and mother of his two kids, Opeyemi.

He wrote:

.
A large number Jehovah's witnesses (in person) have this secreted attributes of not letting or bringing to public, most of their beliefs (is it because of the impression majority have on them?). In my own view, I think the impression has nothing to do with the religion but particular persons in the religion (who overreact). Therefore, why blame religion over a person's action?
.
A life experience between a Witness and a guy he met on field ministry.
.

I actually one day noticed a Witness in the field service preaching to a guy. On the long run, he offered the guy a tract and Awake! then the guy also brought a brochure to offer to the witness and said 'if you take mine, I'll take yours.' The witness responded: 'sorry, I am not allowed to collect that from you but you may have mine.' The guy fired back 'why?' The witness responded 'because mine teaches about God's kingdom.' The guy was like 'mine teaches about Satan's kingdom, right?' (...)
.
.
You may be thinking sth, well this attitude by this Witness was unprofessional and ego-centric. The Witnesses are taught in the Theocractic Ministry school, accompanied with the Reasoning From The Scriptures reference booklet to - not only try to let people see their points while preaching, but also -- hear others view. Therefore, what do we call that witness above? Well, unprofessional. Some other things alike too happen, like when they invite you over to the Kingdom Halls and you invite them to a Church Crusade; some will be all rejection. Well, here are things you never knew:
.
1. They do not have their own bible. I get this all the time that their Bible is quite very distinct from others. How true is this? Well, let me surprise you, they only rewrote a modern-word version of still, the original bible manuscripts that every other bible translator wrote from. In the New World Translation of The Holy Scriptures, the name of God, Jehovah, is used more than in other bible translation who replaced it with 'Lord'.
.
2. They believe people will go to heaven. Yes, they do, they believe a small number will make heaven and the righteous rest, inherit the earth, the promised paradise.
.
3. They don't do birthdays and festive periods like Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc. Halloween apart which is somewhat demonic, they believe that the outcome of the people who celebrated birthdays in the Bible took bloodshed (Pharoah's birthday,John the Baptist head). And for Christmas, it's pagan; Jesus was not born on Christmas day, which is true.
.
4. They are not a cult group. Believe me when I tell you this, all their teachings are focused on the Bible. If a Witness made a misuse of the bible, it's imperfection and not because 'he is a Witness, that's what they do'.
.
5. A woman can not lead the flock. Yes, this is driven from the new testament where Paul etc., took on the congregation of God. A man is the head, so it is.
.
Some other things are clapping to praise songs, using their Kingdom melodies, etc. Truth is, before you judge, do some research, some things you judge are actually how it should be.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Out Of Recession And President Buhari Is Transforming The Economy by sinola(m): 6:30pm On Oct 28, 2017
presidency:
Nigeria Is Out Of Recession And President Buhari Is Transforming The Economy.

Around the middle of 2014, when the price of crude oil fell dramatically, Nigeria’s finances became challenged. This is not hard to explain: We’ve historically depended on crude oil for as much as 70 per cent of government revenues and 90 per cent of foreign exchange earnings. The outcome—pressure on government finances—was by no means unusual. A similar fate befell most oil-rich countries around the world.

Where Nigeria possibly stood out was in the fact that during the preceding three years—when oil prices were in excess of $100 per barrel—the previous administration did little in terms of saving and investing for the future. Our sovereign wealth fund—which was established in October 2012 with just US$1 billion—did not receive any further inflow during the oil price boom. Instead, billions of dollars were squandered through corrupt oil and defense contracts.

It is a terrible thing for a country to fall on hard times without a savings buffer. But there was nothing unexpected about our downturn. It was the inevitable result of the choices we made or didn’t make during the years of boom.

What is remarkable—yet not talked about as much—is the way we have worked so hard to exit the recession, reset the economy and reposition Nigeria for a brighter future for present and future generations of Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration are laying the foundations for the kind of economic growth that makes a real impact in the lives of citizens.

The downturn has inspired unprecedented levels of fiscal responsibility, in line with President Buhari’s determination to fight Nigeria’s endemic corruption.

Shortly after taking office, he issued a presidential order mandating the immediate implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system, consolidating thousands of government accounts scattered across banks into a unified system that is transparent and easy to centrally monitor and track. Under the old system, it was common for government accounts to be converted into personal use, but under the TSA this is impossible. Also, the proliferation of accounts encouraged several questionable practices.

Budgetary reform has also taken a lot of our time and attention. We are pioneering the use of software to prepare our annual budgets, which allows greater transparency and the ability to track changes.

We have insisted on using biometric verification in the deployment of our social investment programme, which includes a job scheme for unemployed graduates; a school feeding scheme for primary school pupils; a conditional cash transfer scheme targeting a million of our poorest citizens; and a micro-credit scheme for artisans, farmers, and traders. In the past, social investment payments would have been made as cash handouts.

A similar insistence on biometric verification for the federal payroll has resulted in the detection of tens of thousands of bogus beneficiaries—or “ghost workers,” as we often refer to them in Nigeria—and savings running into billions of naira every month. The tighter rein on public finances allowed us invest $500 million in our sovereign wealth fund during a recession.

We are pursuing unprecedented cooperation with foreign governments and powers, as part of our transparency and anti-corruption drive. For the simple reason that a disproportionate amount of public funds looted in Nigeria end up in the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria has signed bilateral agreements with the UAE government on extradition, exchange of information, and repatriation of stolen public funds.

One strong demonstration of our political will has been a whistleblowing scheme we launched months ago that empowers citizens to report public corruption. The impact in terms of recoveries has exceeded our expectations: In two high-profile examples, $43 million and $9.8 million in looted cash were recovered from apartments in Lagos in the south and Kaduna in the north respectively.

A lot of the work we have done since President Buhari came to office in May 2015 has been focused on dismantling the old ways of doing things, rebuilding them, and empowering and fortifying our institutions with technology to block loopholes, discourage abuse, and prevent a relapse into the destructive ways of the past.

The new Nigeria we seek will not happen without this kind of foundational reform that imposes on us new ways of thinking and of doing things. The early results are already being seen. A concerted focus on agriculture has seen our rice imports from Thailand dropping by 90 per cent between 2015 and 2016 and being replaced by locally grown variants.

As oil has let us down, we have started to do what we should have done decades ago: Invest in agriculture and mining. Throughout the recession, agriculture recorded healthy growth. As we emerge from the recession, its impact is certain to multiply and position Nigeria for a prosperous future.

The most important elements of any reform effort tend to be the least flamboyant. We are confident that in the months and years ahead, Nigerians and the world will see the full impact of the foundational resetting that the Buhari administration has been focused on since 2015.

There is of course a lot of resistance to reform, by vested interests within and outside the system. But we are not fazed. The work of reform goes on. To borrow a phrase from the Nigerian novelist, Chinua Achebe, it is morning yet on Creation Day. Not very long from now, Nigerians and the world will look back on the recession we have just emerged from, and realize that it was the turning point in Nigeria's journey to true growth and greatness.
