Nairaland / General / Re: Lack of exposure and Illiteracy which is worse off? by siralos135: 8:16am On Jul 16, 2014
Lack of exposure is worse.Illiteracy can sometimes be subjective. We have a wrong perspective of the term "illiteracy" here in Nigeria. In Nigeria,a man that can not read, write and express himself in english is considered an illiterate while in America it is very difficult to come across someone who cannot speak, read and write in english because that is his natural environmental language of communication.
What am i saying? You become literate by exposure but literacy can never make you exposed.literacy and exposure is a case of theory and practical.Exposure to educational situations makes you literate and your literacy is aimed at helping you adapt to and advance in the "exposures" of life.
Can you describe a man that can read and write yoruba as an illiterate? No.....that is what he has been exposed to.But because He cannot operate a t.v set does not make him an illiterate,It only emphasize its limit of exposure.

Properties / Re: Abuja - A City Of Empty Houses by siralos135: 9:18pm On Jan 04, 2014
lynpetra: It's really pathetic to listen to the tales of homeless people in Abuja. Some complain bitterly of how scarce it is to get affordable homes here in the heart of the North.Such Irony! As my aunt drove me around this evening,I can't help to notice so many empty duplexes, bungalows, self contains,Block of flats around."Auntie all this houses na who them dey build am for?"I asked.Beautiful empty houses, several still under construction.Greed na bastard! An employed average Nigerian can never afford the price of only a Dog post in these houses!!Infact, who are those building this houses? Why build a house to leave it empty for years because no customer can pay the prize?Isn't it selfish, foolish and inhumanly wicked? Why not make it affordable as it is available? The only reason business isn't booming in Abuja is partly because plenty houses are empty,as a lot of youths live in places like Iyanya,Maraba,Kubwa, and the outskirts of Abuja.

I know our Govt system is made for the rich,we don't mean anything to them.Living in well built houses doesn't fit the average Nigerian. As they loot our money, every seconds of everyday, every minute of every hour, every day of every year, stealing big, dumping it here and there, hiding them by building so many Estates,Shopping Malls,Markets,Blocks of Flats,ALL FOR NOTHING!!!EMPTY AS THE YEARS GOES....They continue to hide this stolen money on properties and lands, some of which are taken by force from indigenes.....

Mmmh...God is watching.Still waiting for that revolution, surely it will come.It can only take
time.

*continues to sip Zobo*

Lympetra ! You are beauriful.........love u

on their website it was reported that they have issued cheques to sacked staff having been asked by the senate to pay them a one year salary as their severance pay.
anybody following d news wld also rememba dt d reason for d sack was dt they were asked to improve on their certificate by getting a degree or hnd.they were given a particular amount of tym to do so and those who didn't were sacked.
as a matter of fact, individuals dt had appropriate qualifications but were sacked were reinstated after intervention by d senate

adeyemoade: Praise God!!!! Please join me in giving thanks to Almighty God. At last, I have been invited for induction training/documentation come next week monday to wednesday (18th - 20th).the sms came in this morning around 9am. desmond, please call me, i misplaced my phone last weekend. I wish everybody in this house awaiting SMS from HCP be it interview or training, your time wont pass you by IJN! now i can have a sound sleep.

My advice to everyone going for this induction is to ensure to ask questions pertinent to their postings and salaries. Please ask because you may not have such opportunity again.Such questions should include but not limited to:
1)when are we expected to be posted ?
2)Most of us resigned/will be resigning our job to take up this offer, therefore when should we be expecting our first salary?
3)While we wait for our posting and do not have any source of income again because of this offer, should we expect that our salary will be processed together with our coleague already working since we are also readily available to work ?

P.S: This is not trying to be be confrontational. They are questions that will help you in knowing where you stand in making a decision as to resigning from your present job or not and how to plan for the days when @ work with NIMC and salary is not forthcoming as expected.
These questions will also clear the air over the argument about whether salary start counting from the date the appointment letter is issued or not. That way we can all patiently wait without fear or agitations because we are informed!
PLEASE ASK SO THAT YOU CAN INFORM THIS FORUM. DON'T COME BACK FROM INDUCTION AND START ASKING QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD BE PROVIDING ANSWERS TO.AS A STAFF OF NIMC,YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

THANKS!
