ON THE COLLAPSED CHURCH BUILDING AT IBADAN
God is good. If not that my God is awesome I wonder what would have happened to the over 2000 worshippers present when the incident happened few days ago. I got a message from God and told them to fast for three days to avert death of multitude in the church on Sunday at Ibadan in oyo State. Interestingly, after the fasting on Sunday, the church auditorium collapsed and no soul died. What an awesome God we serve.
Tell us about Baba Peculiar. What makes you peculiar?
I really thank God. First of all, C.A.C peculiar was founded in the year 2004 in Ibadan (gbaremu new airport road, Ibadan) and later was located at Lagos also in the year 2007(biyi adeyemo street. akesan bus-stop. lasu-iyana iba ). I like anything media so, I started with a radio and television programme in Ibadan. When people heard the way I talked, many of them came, especially journalists, to the programmes just to ask questions. Usually, if I want to hold a major programme, I would invite journalists to be there to publish information about the it. And the reason is that I have no skeleton in my cupboard; I am a free man. So, many people came to one of our programmes in Ibadan and when they saw the miracles and diverse healing that took place that day, they marvelled and said ” this a mystery “peculiar.” That was how they began to call me ‘Baba Peculiar’, but my name is James Kunle Hephzibah. My father’s name was Ogunjimi. I am from a polygamous home and I had been a smoker for a long time. When people saw me on television and the way I talked { I used to talk like a thug}, they did not know what caused it. It was because of my upbringing and the way I was brought up. I thank God because I learn t from it.
Like I told you, I am from a polygamous family and before I was born, they told my father that he was not going to have a male child unless he married another wife. My father went to Olatubosun village in my state, to consult a prophet and the prophet said that the male child my father would have would not come through my father’s first wife. That prophecy was difficult to believe because nobody had ever married two wives in our family lineage. That prophecy sounded stupid, but you know anything of God and prophetic is always different from what is common. So, they said how could my father marry two wives? It was impossible. They s insisted it had never happened in our family before, and they told the prophet that it was impossible. My father had the first child, the second, up to the sixth, yet there was no male among them. So, he went back to the prophet and the prophet said the message of the Lord is sure for life and it could not be changed. Thus, he told my father to go and marry another wife. The prophet described my mother. God is great. He told my father he was going to meet my mother at a place in Lagos at a particular place. My father was living in Ibadan. He later got married to my mother. I was told that when I was six months in the womb, I appeared and told her that my name shall be called James and my mother asked: “who are you?” And I told her: ‘This is the same James that is talking to you and he is going to be a powerful prophet; take care of him, you know how he came to you; he said he is not coming through that first wife but he is coming to the family to break some records.’ So, my mother was shocked and she had to go to my father and told him what she saw, and my father said: “Let us go to that prophet.” On getting there, the prophet bowed down said its real but that it was a pity that he was not going to witness my glory. My parents asked why he said so. The prophet said he knew the kind of prophet I would become. He told my father to becareful to take care of “this prophet; you are not going to enjoy this prophet; in fact, you are going to die before his glory shines.” It is a mystery anyway. So, when I clocked four years, my father had to keep that secret. He did not allow the first wife to know that he had another wife, because it was a mystery. But when I clocked four years, my father said he would introduce me to the first wife. So, what happened that day was very mysterious. God is my witness, because what I am telling you – you know, like I always said I don’t trust people ¬- but what I am telling you is the truth and is on record. What I am telling you is that the Holy Spirit that can confirm what i am saying.
Sir, you said you were blind
Before I became blind, let me explain this one, I died for three days, died for three days.
What happened at age of four
At the age of four, I went to Ibadan with my father to just show me to the family and my mother without knowing that my step mother has something, you know that is normal in polygamous family anyway, they gave me poison instead of giving me the right food, so I was pronounced dead. The second day they sent a message to my grandfather that kunle was dead. My grandfather went to that prophet that told them that there is a glorious child that is coming to ogunjimi’s family. Thus, the prophet said that never if it is the one he won’t die because he is a covenant child. Consequntly, the prophet now said that they should not bury the child until he arrives. But they cannot make it on that day with my grandfather so they have to go to an herbalist to say ok we are going to amaro to invite the evil spirit to fight for the dead, that whoever is behind it must go for it. They said that the devil will even kill that person. But when the herbalist came they say they refuse to do that work. Thus, my grandfather and that prophet was coming on their way, you know nothing like telephone that time. What am saying is that the third day that my father decided to bury me with the grandfather, but the prophet still resisted that they can never bury me.On getting to Ibadan around 3pm, not knowing what is going to happen, their car developed fault and they were delayed for about five to seven hours, but before they can get to the place, I come up. I rose up so that is why they use to call me ijebomo, so that is what they use to call me, a strange man and that is why all my father’s brothers and sisters believed the prophet too much.
What about your blindness?
you know I am someone that came from a polygamous family. Maybe because God want to use me for the whole world or maybe because I am going to be a prophet, one way or the other I became a thug, drinking, using machete, smoking Indian hemp. That is what turned me into another person entirely. If I tell you about my education now, they send me away from one school to the other. I did not know I would become somebody in life. But God has a purpose for everything in life. Later, I heard the voice of God telling me that my name shall be called Hephzibah, “you are no longer going to be called kulele”, and in those days that was my nickname. I did not know anything about God then. So I did not believe. But when I woke up, I just dismissed it as a mere dream. But later I discovered that message was from God. So later God spoke to me saying if you like me or not you must accept me. But if you don’t accept me you would become blind in the next seven days. But I still did not believe it. But when I calculated the date after twenty seven days it happened. So they took me from one place to the other for cure but nothing changed. That is why I didn’t believe in anything again, since all these years in Christ i have never taken anything except water and oil. Because I believe so much in that power i encountered myself; it was my personal encountered with God, so God told me to be his prophet but you know, for a thug to become prophet it seemed strange to me, so later I became blind. I vowed that whoever would restore my sight will be the one that I will serve forever. Three weeks after, the spirit of God spoke to me again, and confirmed that my name should be called Hephzibah and that my background has been cursed because I came from idol worshiping family. Truly, nobody had ever succeeded in life in my family. God said he wants to take me out of that family and that I am going to break some yokes and I am going to break that family curse, and you are going to be one of the most famous prophets in the word. So I believe I have never started. So I asked who is God? And He said I should go to the mountain to pray. But I did not know anything about mountain so I did not go. But later on April 23, something happened. God gave me back my sight. So I discovered that everything in my room turned up side, so that is the first day i ever encountered God Himself. So i saw something like angel and i say what is this? And he said i came to set you free so you can set my people free, and that he will use me to raise people from death. And the first miracle from me was, the spirit of God told me to send three sachets of pure water to a mortuary, and i did, to go and raise a dead woman, the doctor did not believe it, but on getting to the mortuary, i saw inscription on the corpse, “J. K. Hephzibah.” That was what was written on a paper, on the chest of the corpse and the doctor came out and said that he had never seen something like that. He was surprised because nobody had ever been to that mortuary since the corpse was deposited there. But when the doctor received the water sent by me, he was like, “you are a fool, what does this means? The doctor screamed not knowing that the three sachets of water are a power representing the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. The Bible says that my people suffer for lack of knowledge. So, the doctor came out shouting “what happened?” And for people to know, they said let us go and see. And on getting to the mortuary, ask my pastor, the dead sat down, she has come back.
Where did that happen?
It happened at Ibadan years ago. I even call journalists from radio and television stations to go and cover it, they cover it but it did not come out. So that is why i am worried that if God can use you to raise up people from death, and journalists cannot pick that one but later when they say Baba Peculiar did something, like a mistake, it is going to be news.

Information reaching Chikero Online after much private investigation by the news medium revealed that the media propaganda against the Director General of the Debt Management Office, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo in an issue involving First Deep Water Discovery Limited and its debtors are actually campaigns sponsored by one of the creditors, Ecobank Nigeria Limited to intimidate and blackmail the DG for refusing to play side to any of the parties, no matter how powerful they may be.

Further digs revealed that the case is actually a contest involving six parties, including Ecobank against First Deep Water Discovery Limited. Our findings shows that the DG might actually be a victim caught in a cross fire of a fight among some powerful parties in the course of his duties.

We gathered that there are several suits presently at the Federal High Court involving First Deep Water Discovery and other creditors, including Ecobank Nigeria Limited, who have approached the Court to recover their monies from the First Deep Water Discovery. The Debt Management Office is the agency saddled with the responsibility for issuing Sovereign Debt Notes for subsidy payments to oil marketers, which has made it the focus of these court actions. We learnt that the monies for which Ecobank is seeking the court to commit the Director General of DMO to prison is the subject of dispute between the following parties who all have a court order/judgment demanding the DMO to pay the same money to them.

The company battling First Deep Water Discovery Limited in court includes: First Bank of Nigeria PLC, Stallionaire Energy Limited, Olive Energy Limited, Bargamo Shipping Limited, Sulphur Stream Limited and Faiceck Petroleum Limited.

We also gathered that the DMO has filed a response to the committal proceeding in the Ecobank Nigeria Limited suit and that the court has adjourned for hearing on May 13, 2015.
To this end, this matter is complicated since there are many claimants for the same monies, as such any suggestions and inferences in the same respect is subjudice.
From the play out, it appears that the DMO is being blackmailed to favour Ecobank at the expense of the other parties and the DMO, hence, the headlong snare campaign against the DG.

The fact is that we all thank God that the Orekoya kids have been found and returned to their parents if not, there are a lot of lifestyles that would have been questioned. One of the 2015 predictions of Bro. Joshua Iginla has come to fulfillment again. Mr Lungu, elected in January, collapsed while giving a speech to commemorate International Women’s Day in the capital, Lusaka, on Sunday.

During the campaign, Mr Lungu’s allies denied reports he was sick and he offered to undergo a medical check-up.

The election was called following the death of his predecessor Michael Sata.

Mr Lungu, 58, was treated at a local hospital and his office issued a report assuring Zambians that the president was “feeling better” and would return home soon

Three failed logins will require the customer to manually enter a passcode.

Let’s meet you

My name is Rob Giles, I am the Head of Transaction Banking in Diamond Bank. Transaction banking has to do with everything that concerns digital and payment base in the non-bank, cards, ATM, Mobile, Money transfers and of course Mobile Apps.

A lot of people complain of getting counterfeit currencies at ATM, not Diamond Bank ATMs, how do you make sure that doesn’t happen In Diamond Bank?

In Diamond Bank, one of our core pillars is best people, so it starts with people. I f you don’t have the right people there is a problem. We make sure we have the right people. We invest in topnotch training for our people. From operations perspective, we make sure that we don’t only invest in checking cash and checking notes before they are loaded, we make sure we have full control in the branch environments over ATM being opened and being closed. We use only reputable international partners to service our ATMs. From the Central Bank angle, even if things go wrong, there is a very robust dispute resolution process so within 72 hours the Bank will resolve your complaint. We also make it easy for our customers to lodge their complaints if you don’t want to go to any of the branches, you can lodge your complain online via DiamondOnline.Com, you can send us an email or even a live text. The contact center, which I also manage, pick up phone (calls) 24/7. So we invest into the right system to make sure that if a customer complains it doesn’t get ignored.

Mobile Banking is still novel to Nigerians. Thank goodness for smartphones but not everybody knows how to do banking transactions with their phones. For first timers, what is Mobile Banking?

This is about our remote access channels whether it is mobile, internet or call center, we want to serve the customers in a way that suits them. First of all, Africa isn’t behind in mobile banking, Africa is probably the leading example, if you go to the UK, the US people are always talking about the Empesa of Kenya in Mobile Banking. I have seen in USA big multinational banks advertising for customers to clear their checks in the bank. In many ways the mobile phone has allowed African banks to leapfrog some of the technology and legacy system that are in place in the old established banks and put banking in the hand of the customer. Our strategy in banking is simple, banking isn’t really something most customers look forward to doing in the traditional sense of going to the bank. In fact, to those living in Lagos, going to the super market is a hassle, going to bank is a hassle. I only go to the bank to make a transaction to get cash to do something else. May be I want to remit fund to somebody else or trying to get movie ticket for my wife so we are saying that the bank is not a place you go to, it is something that you do. We put it in the hand of the customers to make the choices. It is about hassle free banking, it is about quick banking.

On security, what are the firewalls Diamond Bank has built to prevent hackers from hijacking customers’ account?

First of all, Mobile banking is very secured. It has to do with something you have, something you never let out of your site which is your phone. It also has to do with something you know which is the PIN. The App is synced with an individual device, if you download the Mobile App, you can’t register my details on your phone. The phone is a personalized device and that is a security measure. The second layer of security is the PIN, which the customer chooses themselves and, now, of course, IOS devices that uses fingerprints offers the Touch ID. It is very difficult to have somebody’s device and know their PIN. In addition, at the background of the banking system, we know the customer’s spending behavior, so , if suddenly a customer’s transaction is going out of the ordinary, we will know and we will contact the customer. This goes to all our channels whether it is the cards or ATMs, transfers, we allow the customers to set their own limits on the transfers they want to do.

Going further, is there any measure to prevent tech savvy criminals from getting information from my device if stolen maybe to study my spending behavior and follow the pattern?

Not at all. It will be impossible for them to get that detail because the beauty of the Diamond Mobile App is, it is just six mega bites so there is nothing stored on the application. It is like a window into our banking system. From the security perspective it is great.

Diamond Bank has the bragging right as the first African bank to introduce Touch ID into banking in Africa, what informed the leap?

Accessibility in banking is core to what we do, we have a digital strategy. We want banking to be what our customers do without inconveniences. If you have an Apple device and it is from 5s upwards, it is pretty likely that you are logging in with your Touch ID and that you are logging into your iTunes with your Touch ID, you are confirming your App downloads with your Touch ID. It is in line with doing what customers are already familiar with without inconveniencing them, so we have to be part of that. Within fraction of a second you have access to your account to purchase or do any transaction online. We did it really for customer convenience. It is about speed, it is about convenience. And of course it is good to be first!

Is it possible to scan theprints on the home button, use it to recreate a customer’s finger print and control the customer’s account as some pundits say?

We say we are the first in Africa but we are not the first in the world, go to big banks in the UK and America they have been using this in their day to day service to their customers . Secondly, everybody is using Touch ID for their iTunes and even the new Apple Pay is using the same technology so it is being used for many other transactions. Biometrics is already huge in Nigeria, you see it in your bank verification number. The standards that are already being adopted in the industry are about Touch. At the end of the day, it falls back to how often do you lose your phone? Even if your phone gets stolen, we have software in the background that will pick up unusual activities. You can call and stop that device any moment in time. iPhone offers the Find Your iphone feature, you can block the account and also we require a second authentication when it is a financial transaction taking place. We still confirm with your additional PIN at the point of remitting fund outside of the bank so we are very happy with security.

Finally, what is the hope of Android users in terms of Touch ID?

This latest App release wasn’t about Touch ID, it is about increasing the speed of performance. It is releasing new features into the Mobile App so when Touch ID becomes a popular form of authentication on Android devices of course we will get that but the Mobile App is not about the mode of access, we are trying to make it easier for customers to get access into the Mobile App. That is why we have the Fingerprint, Touch ID. We allow customers to download the App themselves, to re-register when they are making use of it in a new phone. You can use your debit card to register so we make it accessible but it is not about the accessibility, it is about the features in the App. You can go online and send air time to anybody, you can buy movie ticket, flight ticket right there on your App, you can find out what event is happening and get tickets for it, book movie ticket and even watch the trailer all on the App. These are what you get from the Mobile App whether you are using an Android device or an IOS device. This is about the bank enabling you to do what you normally do without moving out, in the comfort of your arm chair.

What is the next big thing Diamond Bank is gunning for after this?

There is a lot more to come. You probably have noticed what is happening to the ATMs. The look and feel of the ATMs and the branches are looking a lot more like what we have on the Mobile App. A uniform look and feel to mirror a bright and accessible Diamond Bank.
