On the goals that were conceded,

Having watched the game again, the reasons for not starting Arshavin are so obvious.

1. They had a young rookie leftback(Gibbs) who was not even 100% fit. Diaby and Van Persie ahead of him provide a better defensive cover
2. Chelsea are a big threat on set pieces. Playing another short arsed player will leave them more vulnerable
3. When the central midfield is soft and lacks bite, bringing in an additional midfielder and playing one of your strikers on the wing in a big game is hardly a new strategy, cough, Fletcher, cough, Rooney
They just had a weak defense and keeper too(Wenger couldn't have prevented their catastrophic performance with/without Arshavin).

@ Sauron good hypothsis, but after he had seen that the tactic wasn't working, why did he not make the required changes? Even a rookie coach could have seen that Diaby was ineffective.

Pls, can someone, anybody, give me one justification why Wenger started (and kept faith with until the 80th min) the team he did yesterday?

I wuld pay a premium to have a peek @ what Messers Blatter & Platini think of the pesky English teams once again dominating Europe.
