PoliticsRe: Give Me One Reason I Should Vote Tinubu Again by SixSeven: 11:32am On May 17
Princedapace:
We have been paying taxes, my father and mother all paid, we pay taxes such as VAT in billions and trillions, we pay all types of bank levies and taxes, importation taxes, income taxes. The only sector not paying much of income tax remains the self employed sector. And income tax is not the only tax, Nigerians have been paying tax since colonial master came.
And Nigeria has mad resources that we dont need to pay such heavy taxes. What the new tax he brought does is widen those who will pay especially those who work online who were not captured in thhe previous tax law. As the previous tax law stated that u pay income tax on income earned/sourced within Nigeria. This put out thhose who earned money from abroad for paying income tax but they paid all other taxes such as VAT, property taxes, etc. We have been paying tax. And Nigeria has made mad money, but our problem is corruption and wastage. And extremely dependant economy. U are taxing heavily a country that imports everything.
Let me give u one idea, imagine we have a secured country where u and I can farm. Imagine in each family, one person is a farmer in large scale. We will have enough to crash food prices and export a lot to nearby countries which will boost the power of naira.
U can only grow when u export more finished products, not by importing everything.
Now, u need electricity for industrialization. He is not doing anything in electricity and security. These two are important for self sufficient economy buut he is focued on widen tax. Who dey Bleep told him that? Europeans grew their industries before heavy taxation and that is because they have not much resources.
One person in Nigeria will loot 30Biliion. This is the real issue, nigeria has money, it is wasted on political packages, and corruption. They will spend 350million on library renovation and u will check, u wont see any renovation. They will use 750 million to build govt website. These are the issues.
I was just being sarcastic. Thanks for your analysis, I like it. I wrote something like that this January 👇

SixSeven:
I just need to break this down here because what you don't understand you will keep being misled.

A tax is money the government collects from people, businesses, or things you buy, to pay for public services like roads, schools, hospitals, and electricity.

Many Nigerians think only people with salaries pay tax because income tax (PAYE) is very visible, it comes straight off your paycheck. But in reality, everyone pays indirect taxes whenever they buy goods, fuel, food, use electricity, phone, or travel. The “hypocrisy” comes from the fact that government talks about income tax more because it’s easy to track, while indirect taxes are hidden in prices, so it feels like the poor or informal workers aren’t paying anything when they actually are.

What annoys me is the japa people that go abroad and yap about taxes. They want Nigeria to have the same western style. If you play with taxes abroad, you'll be shown the way out in the next election and you should also understand the white man and why he does things in a way. When you understand their history, you'll know why we are not the same.

Some countries really do not charge personal income tax at all meaning residents don’t file annual income tax returns like in the UK/US and don’t pay tax on their salaries. Examples include United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Monaco, Brunei and Vanuatu, among others. These countries still get money for government services through oil, trade, fees, or other taxes, not by taxing individual salaries. Do the maths and tell me one thing in common Nigeria has that some of these countries have. These countries fund government spending through other sources such as oil and gas revenues, corporate taxes, import duties, fees, tourism income or VAT/sales taxes, instead of taxing people’s income directly.

You need to get off this obsession with the west and trying to be like who you are not. This is the miseducation of the average African. Don't forget that in Aba and Ogun State, Women fought the imposition of taxes by the British. Many Nigerians don't even study their history. You should go and read why they didn't want the colonial government collecting taxes from them.

Historically, Western heavy taxation grew partly from scarcity and because they needed money to fund armies, wars, infrastructure, and administrative systems. Land and resources were limited, populations were growing, and scarcity of money made taxes necessary. Scarcity also came from their harsh climates, poor harvests, and limited technology, so the state had to extract more from people to survive and provide basic service, sunlike in some African systems, where wealth was shared communally rather than extracted as formal taxes. When you look at it today, the concept of Black Tax is because in Africa, we share the resources with the rest of us Ubuntu style. Learn why things are the way they are. Today, I see people teaching financial wealth and I laugh when they want us to copy westerners and their form of selfish indiduvual finance.

The day Nigerians wake up to know their rights and why the government cannot just squander their money, they will wake up.
FamilyRe: The Death Of Marriage: Harsh Reality Nigerians Must Face by SixSeven:
sparko1:
That is the lie most men are feed, men are always lonely, even married men, most die before their wives, before their children becomes provider, those who are unlucky to be alive becomes bachelor all over again. Have you ever heard of men being invited to his son or daughters house after a new birth.

If you are not comfortable/happy being alone, you will never be happy.
I agree with the last line, if someone cannot be comfortable alone, marriage will not magically make them happy but saying men are always lonely anyway ignores a lot of historical and cultural realities about why men married in the first place.

Men went to seek a woman's hand in marriage because companionship, intimacy, family, children, and partnership mattered to them. Human beings are social by nature, so wanting marriage partly to avoid loneliness is normal, not weakness of not being able to stay alone. This is why men were polygamous. Men often did not want to face old age, widowhood, or isolation alone. Biologically, a man could remain fertile long after a wife reached menopause, which influenced why we also accepted polygamy.

Social expectations matter too. In many cultures, a man living under his wife's family was and is seen as losing status or dignity, so men built their own households instead of depending on in-laws. That's why men don't often go for omugwo and those things to avoid see finish and maintain his ego/pride, it's not about being a bad father, that was never a man's role in Africa. His role was to provide and mentor. What does he want to teach a 6 month old? In Africa, women have always been the nurturer until this generation tried to change it. I don't know any other mammal where the man is the one taking care of infants and young children, you will see that men do more of protection. In most mammal species, females do most or all of the early infant care because they carry pregnancy and produce milk, so they are biologically tied to the earliest stage. Men had their own roles but it wasn't for the infant except there's a ritual etc. Privacy, modesty, and comfort are real reasons practices like Omugwo have traditionally been handled by women rather than men. After childbirth, a woman is in a physically and emotionally vulnerable state involving recovery, bleeding, breastfeeding, and body exposure during care. In many cultures, it was considered more appropriate and less stressful for her to be supported by other women, mothers, aunties, or in-laws who could assist closely without creating discomfort or violating social norms around privacy. A man is technically useless to the omugwo and we should not deceive ourselves about this reality. He can't even understand the experience because he has never given birth so it makes sense that women go for it.

Back to polygamy, larger families also meant stronger lineage, support systems, and security in old age. True, the point about elderly men becoming bachelors again after widowhood is partly true. Many older men struggle deeply with loneliness after losing a spouse because men often build fewer emotional support systems outside marriage compared to women. The hustle for life and providing for family is one of the factors behind this. There is statistics or census to this. Men are more lonely than women, it is not about not being able to stand alone or do without anyone else. Na men go find woman hand in marriage, not the other way round.

Gallup's 2025 analysis found that young American men were among the loneliest groups in wealthy countries, with 25% of U.S. men aged 15–34 saying they felt lonely a lot the previous day, compared to 18% of young women. For older men, the studies consistently show widowed, unmarried, and socially isolated older men struggle heavily once marriage, work structure, or family proximity disappears. Research also shows men often maintain smaller emotional support networks than women, meaning many rely primarily on wives for emotional connection. It is an American survey but it's the best I can use to backup my facts. This is why I wrote in my last post that men need women more than they need men. And this is why even if a man is unmarried, rich, successful, sleeping with oloshos will never cure that loneliness because you cannot buy companionship. Isn't this why they created robots for men? A companion to help him? He will also never release his sperms for an olosho to give birth to his child and he knows why grin I don't know how old you are but think about those you know or you have seen, who is likely to get married again between a widower and a widow? The woman can close her legs and focus on the children while the man finds it hard to do. He will remarry. Even his children will find another woman for him as his assistant but when their mom is in the same situation, they will be fighting the man that wants to marry her. A woman being celibate again won't affect her like men and now we have come to see that if a man should do that, it can affect his prostate.

Being unable to stand being alone is unhealthy, but seeking companionship and marriage because you do not want lifelong isolation is also completely human. Marriage historically existed for emotional, social, biological, economic, and generational reasons for both men and women.

👆 I hope you have enjoyed my beautiful nonsense. Happy Sunday grin

There's one little point you are missing, marriage doesn't favor a man, there is nothing to gain, everything that is provided can be gained without marriage.

Besides, marriage is overrated, we have enough population already.
But you have also heard about the male loneliness pandemic and men are having less friends because to prove that you have figured it out is to be selectively unavailable and social media is not even helping with connections. Marriage is overrated? I doubt it. It's easier for women to be alone than men and that's fact. Men still need marriage for companionship and mission.

More thoughts on Hypergamy:

Marriage to a man in your tax bracket or higher eliminates some of the stress in marriage. Like it is said, a man will always drag a woman to his level; that drag might be upwards or downwards.

I am sure we have all heard stories where the wife wants to subsidise rent, school fees, food and other things (where the husband believes his manhood is tied to sole provision) and it causes a fight? The wife can afford a 3 bedroom flat; Odiegwu wants them to stay in one room so that people will not say it is his wife that is housing him. Visiting a man in one room as a lady living in 3 bed for a weekend might be a kink; moving into a one bedroom after marriage is horror. And any other lifestyle downgrade.

A colleague from service year (male) used to chuckle when I spoke about love. He said ' a rich man hates you but he gets a maid for you, buys a car for you, doesn't require you to do some chores' aka makes your life easy.

Some guys here on NL say washing machine is for lazy women. Imagine a woman above a certain tax bracket marrying such. Whilst her company expects her to use her time well for more meaningful tasks (there is a reason organizations provide certain welfare packages at certain levels), she is washing clothes by hand because her horseband thinks washing machines and blenders are lazy in 2026.

Interestingly, a woman wants to pull a man up so she is handing over contracts to him, giving him the car to drive, changing his wardrobe and packaging him as the 'man'.

Imagine a richer man wants to get a car or a cook or a bigger house or a washing man and the lower income wife says 'it is too small' or stops the purchase.

Until the dynamics of marriage changes, a woman who doesn't want to spend her life shalaying, massaging egos, or reducing herself to accommodate a man should better marry her tax bracket and higher.

God forbid she adds the stress of marrying below her tax bracket to the stress of marrying a man.

And if they are both poor, he has the capacity for growth so that when they/she blows, he is not insisting on grinding stone pepper.
Hypergamy is real no matter how women deny it. It's in their nature. That's why I tell men

YOU MUST ALWAYS WORK ON YOURSELF

The world is not fair on men but the world does not care men. They say women and children will get help before you. If you think that's a lie, see what happened in Ukraine war, who did they first prioritize to leave? Let your wife complain about you, you are not exciting, you are boring, you don't have drive. Once another woman shows interest in you, it will drive her crazy because even if she does better than the other lady or even if the girl is a househelp, she will just be mad that another woman species can see value in you as a man. Hypergamy for women is nature in action. She is built to submit to you the man. If she doesn't see your worth, she will be asking herself why she needs to submit to you. Women want leaders, not mates so those women who preach partnership are also misleading other ladies. We know this but no need to argue about it. If the man is not someone she looks up to, she will not submit to him.

This Tyler Perry movie captures the native of women and hypergamy. You are not on her level

If she is doubt better than you, I'm sorry, your marriage age is at risk. I am not saying you should not support your woman but only the one with fear of God will know the value of the man in her house beyond a career that cannot be more than 30 years. I was watching Mr Brown say the man must never allow the woman be in charge of rent, school fees etc. Some people abused him but I absolutely agree with him. I have seen it over and over again. Women being in charge with a man who's not doing well as them is a very big test that only the one with fear of God can manage it. Eventually we will all realize after bashing marriage that no human being can survive alone. We need each other. So when they finish tearing marriage pant, I hope they don't get too old or its too late to know its importance.

SixSeven:
Repost👇

I made a post about their women too. You are just a tool to give them babies and provide for them. The same reason some women want to have babies, a getaway card from life responsibilities. Dem no de tell person when life show you shege grin

As if what I wrote here wasn't enough, I just read this study that reveals what women would do if they won a $1m vs what a man will do but look at this one where women marry and divorce men, what do they say? It's hard for them to be alone when there's no provider undecided

A man will provide without conditions most of the time but that very same thing is very hard for women to do unconditionally, another reason why they become bitter.

Men, know this and know peace, WOMEN ARE NOT BUILT TO BE PROVIDERS. The moment you know that, you would have figured out a lot of things you need to know as a man.

Our main problem is the economy ant that is the problem for the west too. Why will you build a family when mortgage is expensive and house prices are ridiculous? No one wants to carry that burden.

The council levy bla bla bla is an indirect tax. You proved geoworldedu's point. You are not a resident of Milan or a citizen of Italy but the local council levy, you paid it.

If people are not employed, how do you think they will pay direct taxes? What is the employment rate? The President just scored an own goal because employers deduct taxes before they pay salary. If there are no jobs, you can't pay to the state.

The OP says your mind will be at peace when you have money. You think Biggie's mo money, mo problems is a joke? He also says poverty will be making your heart do somehow. I don't think you've heard about contentment. Contentment is a powerful mindset that shields you from the endless cycle of chasing external validation or wealth. It shifts your focus from what you lack to appreciating what is right in front of you. A lot of Nigerians lack it, that's why they keep chasing the mullah and they see the man who is relaxed as muuugu. Travel and see those who are poorer than you in your paper money but richer than you in issues of life. It is the current structure of Nigeria that makes you think once you have money, you can solve your problems instead of us to think like a society. Look at our rich people, if you have a health emergency, don't you think before you jet out of the country to go to one foreign hospital, you will die? Or do you think even if you have the best Nigerian doctors with you, it will keep you alive while they are carrying your body upandan in the plane instead of you to have accessed a good quality hospital? Didn't you see the tomfooooolery of our elites during covid19 or how they keep making the same mistakes by spending so much money abroad when God has blessed our environment with free gifts but they refused to appreciate it and improve on it? Nigeria is a very classist and oppressive society so I just see people with their insecurities projected on others they think they are above. That's why they system may never work because the money helps them feel at least that all animals aren't equal. DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM angry🤡

If money is the only thing you have, you are truly poor.
When you understand the concept of money, you'll know why it is not everything. It is good in our current construct of life but only experience can teach you certain things. Maybe you have forgotten that your forefathers did not live with this current concept of paper money. Or the civil war did not teach you a lesson on how people who stored paper suddenly became poor? The current construct of society is deceiving you so much that you think to acquire all the gold in this world is everything but when you get it, you'll then learn the lessons of life. Anyway this conversation is more philosophical, experience is the best teacher. Enjoy your money. You don't teach a man how to enjoy his money.
