'Google Wave is designed as a new Internet communications platform. It is written in Java using OpenJDK and its web interface uses the Google Web Toolkit. Google Wave works like previous messaging systems such as email and Usenet, but instead of sending a message along with its entire thread of previous messages, or requiring all responses to be stored in each user's inbox for context, message documents (referred to as waves) that contain complete threads of multimedia messages (blips) are perpetually stored on a central server. Waves are shared with collaborators who can be added or removed from the wave at any point during a wave's existence' .

FoodIs This The Hungriest Place On Earth? by sizzlers(op): 5:40pm On Apr 06, 2010
Akobo, in the eastern region of Jonglei, is now the "hungriest place on earth," according to aid officials, after a new survey showed that 46% of children under five are malnourished - 15% severely so.

Sudan Jonglei

The town's crumbling, bullet-scarred hospital is treating some of the most serious cases.

A dozen painfully thin children lay on beds, some in obvious distress as their mothers tried to feed them.

The United Nations' senior humanitarian official in South Sudan called the malnutrition figures "astonishing… and extraordinary."

Visiting Akobo, Lise Grande said the levels of malnutrition were three times higher than the standard UN threshold for an emergency.

"If we're seeing these kinds of rates now we can only expect far worse in the coming months," she said, warning of a 50% short-fall in aid funding, and an urgent need to pre-position food supplies before seasonal rains cut off access to more than half of the region in the next few weeks.

Although the situation is clearly difficult, privately some local officials are warning against alarmism, pointing out that there is as yet no indication that more people are dying as a result of malnutrition.

It is not yet clear if this is because the weakest children were killed by violence in 2009, or because aid agencies - well established in the region - are already helping the worst affected.

"The situation is not good," said Bernadette Tata, a nurse in Akobo hospital. "But we can cope."

Conflict and drought

A few minutes earlier, a gaunt woman called Nadulchan had come into the hospital with her three-year-old son, Dwal.

She sat on a bed, trying to support his lolling head, as he appeared to drift out of consciousness.

"There's nothing to eat," she said quietly. "I lost two children in the fighting with the Murle [a local tribe]. I pray I don't lose this one."

Guns, Sudan
Hungry people will get a gun in order to get a cow to eat
Commissioner Goi Jooyul Yol

Hunger is a familiar enemy across much of this vast, impoverished and insecure region.

The World Food Programme estimates that nearly half the population will need food aid at some point this year.

The situation in Akobo is simply the most extreme example.

A dramatic surge in ethnic conflict in 2009 prompted thousands of families to seek shelter in the town. Most remain too scared to return home.

That has coincided with a prolonged and devastating drought that has left people dependent on unusually expensive imports and on foreign aid.

"This is a very testing year," conceded Goi Jooyul Yol, the commissioner of Akobo county, who was sent here in 2009 to tackle the crisis following a series of massacres.

He said he had only received about a tenth of his expected budget from the government, and warned that a continuation of the drought would be "unbearable and unthinkable."

In recent months South Sudan's army, the SPLA, has been trying to disarm local tribesmen who have been stealing each other's cattle, and often abducting children.

Some 400 confiscated weapons - mostly AK47s - are being kept in a steel container at the army base outside Akobo.

"We've done some things to curb the violence," said Mr Yol.

"We hope for a less violent year, but the army and police were not adequate to control things.

The rule of law was not implemented… Hungry people will get a gun in order to get a cow to eat. It is a matter of survival."

Makeshift shelters

Save the Children, one of the organisations already working in Akobo, warned of the challenges ahead.

Child breast-feeding
Many teenage girls die in childbirth

"In a region where a 15-year-old girl is more likely to die in childbirth than she is to complete primary school, life for children… will remain tough for many years to come," said South Sudan director Kate Foster.

"We had expected to see some increase in malnutrition levels. The extent of the deterioration was, however, unexpected and alarming."

On the dusty outskirts of Akobo, families remain camped in makeshift shelters, waiting for food aid, rain and the opportunity to return to their villages.

Nyadir Muon, 40, said her family had fled their homes a year ago when they were attacked by members of a rival community, who abducted their children and stole cattle.

She condemned the government's disarmament campaign, saying it had left them defenceless against other groups that had retained their weapons.

In theory, these should be hopeful times for South Sudan.

After 21 years of civil war with the North, the region is due, in the coming weeks, to take part in the country's first democratic elections in a generation.

In January 2011, the South is widely expected to vote for full independence in a referendum guaranteed under the terms of Sudan's 2005 peace deal.

But Akobo's troubles give an indication of some of the enormous challenges now facing a turbulent, war-ravaged region.

THEY ARE BEEN MISLEAD, FOR ME THERE ARE THREE CONDITIONS THAT MUST TRIGGER DIVORCE
1. IF THE MARRIAGE Is BASED ON FALSEHOOD e.g when the guy knowing full well that he is HIV positive, thwart the lab test convince his wife otherwise. eventually if the wife finds out she can file for divorce or When the guy is suffering from seasonal madness (raining season the guy will be normal but during dry season the madness will be at pick), lowsperm count, impotency without letting the wife know his full health condition before they marry, the wife can file for divorce if she eventually finds out.

PoliticsStop Casting And Binding Demons, Teach Civic Duties, Pfn Boss Tells Pastors by sizzlers(op): 8:53am On Apr 06, 2010
The church and other religious groups in the country have been urged to preach more on the civic responsibilities of their members as part of the on-going crusade for national rebirth. The Rivers State Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Apostle Zilly Aggrey, made the call in an interview in Port Harcourt when he also spoke of plans to purge churches in the State of pastors who engage in sharp practices.

Apostle Aggrey, who is General Overseer of Royal House of Grace International Church, recommended what he tagged: “Transformation theology” under which sermons should emphasize commitment to national transformation.
He urged for a shift from the current trend of casting and binding witches as well as deliverance and prosperity in churches, to getting adherents to actively work for the collective good through good moral conduct.

“Every religious society is a by-product of the kind of teaching that are being given to the people. In this part of the world, that is Africa, the average African Christian gets excited when you talk about witches and wizards and demonic powers.
So, they preach more of salvation, miracles, deliverance, breakthroughs and prosperity messages instead of commitment to national transformation.

“You see, such teachings have not yet taken over the teachings of religious gatherings where people will now come to know that if you are a citizen of a country, you are under obligation to be patriotic, to make sure that you represent God and represent your nation adequately and effectively.

“Righteousness is not just abstinence from indulgences; righteousness simply means doing things right. So, we have not taught our people from religious houses even how to drive on our roads.
“People should hear from their pulpits how to drive, how to pay your taxes, time management, obligations to credit. These are things that are not being taught. What we teach is how to bind the devil, how to fight witches and wizards, how to prosper and all of that. We have not been involved in community development”, he said.
The PFN State Chairman urged churches to emulate the early Missionaries who were committed to the development of the holistic man.
He urged for teaching of his proposed reformation theology in churches, market places, schools, police stations, military formations, offices and motor parks.

“When people are indoctrinated with the reformation theology, they will begin to be alive to their civic responsibilities. Within the religious circles, we should begin to teach the kind of things that will indoctrinate our people to say that they should not just accept people because of questionable wealth that they have acquired”, he said.
Apostle Aggrey observed that many churches have not taught their members, “the sacredness of the vote”, pointing out that, “if electoral reforms are eventually put in place and the larger society which come to church are not being taught the vital aspect of preserving your votes”, not much would be achieved in that all-important area of national life.

PoliticsDoctors Killed My Son, Alleges Father Of Nysc Member by sizzlers(op): 8:46am On Apr 06, 2010
For ageing Michael Emene, it has been tears and sleepless nights since January 23 this year, when he lost his 27-year-old son, Bright in a mysterious circumstance. Emene, a retired employee of the Nigerian Observer newspaper in Benin-City, Edo State is now blaming his sad moment on doctors at a popular Clinic, based in Effurun, Delta State .

The bereaved father has accused the clinic officials of allegedly mis-managing the treatment of his son who was serving as a youth corps member in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State . He said that when Bright took ill on January 17, he rushed him to the Central Hospital, Warri, Emergency ward where he was diagnosed of intestinal problem. This, according to him, was what one Dr. Bright who was on duty, told him.

“After a couple of hours observation, the doctor decided that the only way out was to perform surgery on my son and he would invite a team of medical professionals to do the job”, said Mr.Emene. But Dr Bright could not get other doctors, as that fateful day was a Sunday, and he then suggested that the patient be taken to Inter Drill Clinic in Effurun. “On his bidding we followed him to Inter-Drill Clinic where he led a team of medical experts to handle the case and the operation was purportedly successful. My son was recovering fast even though he had not tasted water for days.

But when the doctor on duty conducted another test on my son, he said Bright had malaria and typhoid fever,” said Emene in tears. “By the morning of Friday, I suspected that they gave my son drugs for typhoid and malaria which almost killed him and I was there with a Doctor when series of actions were taken hastily to neutralize it”, Emene further said.
