Obasanjo is not a muslim, is he?
Obj is not a muslim but how many southerners can gain the SAME favor from nothern voters as OBJ did. Hes not an ordinary politician as he served as vice persident and president before.
PoliticsRe: National Unity - What Is A Federal Government? by sjeezy8: 11:53pm On Dec 08, 2009
Ethnic/tribal votes will never go away - thats why here in America the they say the "African american vote" ,the "hispanic or latino vote" and such because ethnic groups matter when voting in every country.
Thats why candidates/political parties in America make it a habit of labeliling voters in such manner.

and it will never change

so Nigerians should stop dreaming of a tribeless election and work with what they have. Being realistic

It is highly unlikely that a christian southerner be elected in Nigeria if we had free and fair elcetions. If Abiola was a christian he wouldnt have won.

Ethnic groups again?? More division?? If we want to achieve is a way forward, why not follow the MKO election module prescribed earlier and allow EACH Nigerian a chance to decide the future?
What if an abiola is elected time and time again? Wont people feel marginalized?

Theres no such thing as "peaceful" seperation unless you are talkin about seperating the part of Nigeria with the least amount of oil. Something similar but not exact to becomeriches plan. Those in the North, Fed government and Military get more than 50% of their income from Oil money plain and simple. (try and tell those northern military men no food for you) you think they will break up peacefully?

Elites consists of political elites -  there cannot be a SERIOUS national conference without the likes of Ojukwu, Obj, IBB, Buhari, Tinubu, Atiku and co in one room. . . . Those like Wole Soyinka and co are just mediators and have no political power in Nigeria.  being realistic

Everyone should just relax and let the rotational policy( which i dont agree with) with take place after the East and south south get presidents rigged in from their region Nigeria will be calm and peaceful. After which no one can complain about being marginalized and other excuses.
By the time every region experieces a president from their region there will be no blame on eachother for who damaged Nigeria. Nigerian people will get serious about a real democracy. I give it about 2020 Nigeria will be the greatest country in Africa.

Pharoh:
This is the best option also to me as well thanks for this.
I agree with you peaceful break up is almost not possible but the calm and peace from the rotational presidency still does not solve Nigerians problem.
Agriculture, education and industrialization will still be what it is today.
My only thing is that if they should choose a president from every region let him be capable, qualified and favored by Nigerian people. I think those who chose Yaradull have learned from these terrible two years.

Why are you against discussing the peaceful separation of the country?

It is possible to hold the conference with the right sets of people and not the elites.

A national conference among Elites and political heads from all parties and regions is not plausible.
It still doesnt and wont change the mind of common Nigerian voters. (who matter the most)

Onlytruth:
If anyone is looking for a concise definition of Nigeria's problems, the above quote is it!
I've been on NL specifically for one reason: to find out whether there is hope for the entity called Nigeria. I've been involved in serious, deep and often contentious discourse here. I've read from some smart, good and honest people here. I've also read from some smart, bad and dishonest people too. Nigeria's problem is with the last group of people. They were the victors in the 1966 saga and the civil war. Everything that has happened in Nigeria from 1970 to date has been to preserve that stolen collective patrimony. That is why the most anti-secessionists in Nigeria today are the most dubious and recidivistic Nigerians you will ever meet.

They are not interested in honest way forward ( because every honest attempt must allow all options on the table, including secession). They are even scared of a simple national conference and scared of resource control, or any true national re-engineering, because any of these could upturn their stolen advantage. My verdict is damning: the situation is hopeless.
You might have misunderstood what i said. I said Nigeria isnt ready for free and fair elections because lets face the truth, most people of Eastern extraction are out of the equation in a free and fair election. plain and simple theres no denying it.
-Any christian southener aside from the likes of OBJ is out of the question. (yoruba christians are out also) so no bias and tribes aside
-Any person from south south is out

So Nigeria cannot have a real federal government and actual democracy for the reasons stated above. That is why PDP originally came up with this rotational trash so every region wont call for civil war any time their candidate loses an election. Which will happen time and time until everyone has had a president from their region elected.

Rotational presidency is their to keep Nigeria as ONE. I dont agree with it because its like cheating but if it avoids any civil war and such, then so be it.

Thank you !!! Talks about Fashola , even as he will probably make a good President, is diversionary at best. Instead of wasting our time discussing candidates who are barred from running it will be better for us to start looking at the Northerners available and analyzing their skills and abilities.

Bushes, Nixon and Cheney did not embezzle money from the US coffers and they did not exterminate a village in America. Obasanjo's action in Odi will always haunt him and his generation.
So who says Obasanjo embezzled money? the economy was great when he left, no matter what anyone says.

what about the Bushes response to Hurricane katrina?
their corruption allegations in voting and halliburton other oil contracts?
what about Bush administration and its allegations of crimes against humanity all over the world?

its all apart of politics and sacrifice is needed.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu, Fashola Tipped As Running Mate Buhari Now Set To Endorse by sjeezy8: 4:57pm On Dec 08, 2009
What are you people saying? Like really the next president in 2011 is ZONED TO A NORTHERNER since thats what everyone in Nigeria wants Zoning. Who other than Ribadu from the north is favourable right now?

Nigerian better learn to be realistic and play the cards they are dealt with.

now doubt about it, cos he wanna protect his money that was stolen, but nemesis will catch up with him and soon too
Of course -but people should just let Obasanjo go, if they want to keep Nigeria one! Look at the Bushes, Nixon, Cheney etc in America, Obama cannot spend time trying to bring charges against them. Every society has corruption atleast with Obj adminstration there was development and US relations were better.

Nigerians should learn to settle for the best instead of dreaming unrealistically.

and with Obj,Atiku,Buhari, behind ribadu or a northern candidate for pres coming 2011, Northern Nigerian WILL NOT SECEDE.
PoliticsRe: 12 Days Without Mr President: Obj Ruined The Northern Agenda by sjeezy8: 4:32pm On Dec 08, 2009
Its not the north persay but the northerners in the CURRENT govt administration and those surrounding it. Obj isnt relevant in the current pdp dominated administration. Also northerners such as Atiku, Buhari, el ruffai, ribadu are not happy about the current condition of Nigeria and those governing it. So i would say its the CURRENT northern PDP agenda, not northerners.

I think Obj is also one of those behind Ribadu for 2011 presidency along with Fashola as Vp. Thats the only way to break the current administration.
Obj is very smart and will do whatever is needed to keep Nigeria as one.

i dont even see it that way, its an AFRICAN thing.
nothing to do with religion here.
just that africans mixed their own beliefs with imported religions and now theyre all confused.
so what about muslims in the north who kill and burn christians?
PoliticsRe: Ribadu, Fashola Tipped As Running Mate Buhari Now Set To Endorse by sjeezy8: 3:54pm On Dec 08, 2009
Ribadu isnt president material- but hes from the north thats all that is needed for them to win PERIOD.
most nigerian namely north and west would vote for them, come the next election, there will be most likely:

1)2 northern candidates with 2 southern vps- since everyone is talkin about zoning trash
2)atleast 1 of them will definately be a yoruba
3)in order to get yoruba votes(the deciding factor) and even more than yorubas, you need fashola on the ticket.

If the ticket is true then I think Fashola will be VP but act a bigger role in decisions in Nigeria. Ribadu "looks" good and can win votes based on being a northerner and his reputation.

Love it or Hate it Sjeezy, Igbos are here to stay in LAGOS, keep acting as if lagos na your grand papa property, we going anywhere we wanna go, your sentiments are pretty much like that of the kkk in America, blacks are here to stay in America, grin
I can careless honestly its your own state of origin you are abandoning not mine. So be my guess and make sure you bring your money with you ohhhhhhh. We already have tax evading by Lagos indignes and we dont need any unnecessary tax evasion by non indignes.

JProspero:
Sometimes one gets annoyed by some people who seem to think through their anuses. Any time a serious issue is brought up, some tribal bigot adds ethnicity in it. It started again on this thread with Sjeezy or what saying kidnapping was an Igbo thing, and all hell was let loose.

When South-South militants started kidnapping Whites, some people saw it as a justifiable means of protest against years of neglect. When all the Whites left Niger Delta, they turned to politicians. When politicians ran away from the area, they turned to everybody. Then their nearest Igbo neighbour (Abia) copied it and it spread to the whole South East.

It has entered Yoruba land and some myopic Yoruland are still thinking it is a South East affair. How shallow-minded!

I go home every year with my family but this year, no show. But my worry is that even in Lagos here I am not too comfortable that my kids and wife are safe.
Are you ok? you know what, stay where ever you are. Dont go home, infact never go home, you are hurting no one in Lagos or the west but those in your homeland. The more you people move away from your homeland the more you will feel marginalized. grin duh

And kidnapping is most rampant in the SS/SE so dont lie to yourselves. It has nothing to do with tribes.
If you tell me 419 and fraud is in the west I will tell you, yes you are right and i would rather someone empty my bank account than kidnap me and kill me for not paying ransom. I like it that way

I told you people there no hate in sjeezy for any tribe but precautionary measures have to be taken, before you add your own vices, to those already existing in the west.
PoliticsRe: 2011 Presidential Elections :ribadu, Fashola Tipped As Running Mate by sjeezy8: 2:27pm On Dec 08, 2009
PDP wont be in existence after yaraduas term. OBJ doesnt have full control over the CURRENT pdp, everyone in pdp north knows that they will decamp after their "rotation" is over or 2011. They "see" how risky this rotational process is. Its not worth it when they can win again and not in the next 40-60 years. Obj, Tinubu, buhari, ribadu, Atiku and co may not see eye to eye on everything but they all dont want the current administration.

the ticket sounds good fashola as vp is VERY realistic, more than president.

sounds like deja vu hmmmmm yea it does ive been saying from thread to thread.

wow!!! i cant believe it. well i saw about two other videos similar to this on youtube, happened in nigeria.
im not sure, but didnt Bakassi used to do this a long time ago? way back when? to thieves and that sort of thing?
africans mehn, AFRICANS AFRICANS!!!
here is my take on this.
all these people seem to have little faith in God but a stronger belief in witches and wizards.
if they pray to God and believe in him and trust in him, they shouldnt care about a witch being out to get them if they are protected.
im not sure if theyre christians, but i believe they are of one of the imported religions into africa. whether it be christianity or islam. the Christian missionaries didnt investigate african culture enough before bringing in their religion.
now its a mix between christianity and african beliefs and superstitions.
those two combinations together is like a deadly poison.
just another reason for the world to view africans as barberic animals.
my people ooooooooooo embarassed
so you didnt know christians burn people also?
