Many will just sit and whinge online without taking active steps. Nigeria is a reactive society but one needs to become proactive for survival.

@ First bold What is the height from your oversite concrete to window sill u were taught in 100 & 200 level? Use metric, seems this coach thing is confusing.
@Second bold After all the anthropometrics, all the jury u pass through & that pass through u, from Bsc to Msc, u bold make such statement! Haba bros.
Are u saying u will consent to a door height of less than 2.1m, for a residential building because that is what the client want for himself? There wouldn't have been need for anthropometrics, structures & foundation types in architecture going by d second bold.
Bros forget that one. You know say I no go do height of less than 2.1. Why didnt you ask me if I will agree to a height on 3meter. Make you see the big yes. as far as the door can be fabricated to hold. There is nothing like Standard window height. There is only a reasonable notion that you can want the height of the window to follow the height of door. Even for door height, you dont use the word standard. You use the word "commonly used Height"

Picture one was built by the second largest Building construction co in Nigeria. See the door? standard was thrown out the window, I can imagine what the height of the internal doors would be. Maybe their Architects no pass Bsc.

Bros lets be realistic. As far as you can calculate the structural viability of the Architecture and the livability, then you are good. Thats what make you an Architect. to Design you way through anything (Working out a design solution to a Problem).

Engineering practice is all about pushing beyond the known standard practice to achieving ones goals.

I have seen somewhat of what your question is all about and i'd ask you what I asked the perceived engineer on site too.

Mean while this is an illustration of the building but you can point me in your direction if it does not go in line of what you intend doing;

4 blocks from german floor to window base
10 blocks from window base to lintel......

My question
How many blocks will you place on top the cast lintel both internal and external walls?
From coach 10 you can decide how many blocks you wish to put on top of the lintel level that is structurally viable for the project.

Thought u studied architecture?
We know everything in architecture is subject to personal creativity. But what standard measurement were u using for residential building height during your 200 & 300 level? That should explain d widespread use of 9coach for lintel. It is really not about cost or ventilation, but standard that was used to train many architects at the basics.
Standard? This is beyond 200 level now. and note I was never taught that 9coach was a standard for window. What I was taught was that standard for doors are 9 coach. so its nice to make the lintel be on same level as the door. Now Regarding the Bolded, I do not agree with you that its not about cost, or ventilation, or Aesthetics but about standard. The only standard is what you want for your house.

Please put a clearer meaning to the bold.
Less Lighting into the House

The difference in Overall cost isn't significantly much because some people say higher Lintel means Taller Windows which is extra cost. But the difference isn't much because higher Windows means less block Works and Plaster space to work with overall
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by skimanski(m): 5:08pm On Sep 03, 2017
Why do a lot of people stick to 9coach of block as Lintel Level?

Its less Light,
Its aesthetically not too pleasing,
Its not significantly less expensive.

Please if Anybody has any reason why its better please inform so as to guide our Judgement in the future.

I know people can dig up Calculations from the internet or softwares, and people can claim Architects are the most important, but One thing is for sure, you cannot dispute the fact that every profession has its uses and if all profession are together in one project, the project we be better off than if some where missing.

Your best and PROVEN mehtod is to plant Tobacco plant (short, plant with large, hairy leaves like that) in your compound.
I swear, if you see any snake within 100ft of wherever it is, come back for me.

On the issue of using flowers to beautiyfy the walls, l have seen it in many places outside Nigeria but we know that the environment determines the 'kind of architecture', as they say.

In foreign countries, most dont have snakes at all (too cold a weather and snakes are warm blooded and wont survive there; same reason lizards are not common over there) and where they have snakes, it is not found in urban areas as those areas are already built up and sanitised properly.
They also use the climbing flowers to create a natural insulator for walls, so as to keep the inside of the house warm and conserve heat.
So, aside beauty, it is very functional over there.

If you compare that to Nigeria, we have warm, tropical weather where such animals can thrive and reproduce.
We have dirty gutters, barren bushes and we have a penchant to throw dirt everywhere, creating a breeding ground for such rodents.

The probability of having a snake (or lizards and other unwanted visitors) climbing that beautiful, hanging flower, is very high.
I HATE SNAKES!

I will not plant it on my walls but my compound has so many flowers and Palms.
I love plants.
Sir, You have completely educated me on it. Which is the reason why I posted the Pics initially.

Thanks a lot.
Your comments explains it clearly

You will still find some of this house, although I believed there is a flower that do chase snake away, am not an horticulturist any expact on this field can educate us more
I hear there are flowers like that too as a result understand that its livable. Thats what I was trying to sell.

Every conceived idea is achievable only in the instance that the idea is addressed properly to an intending client.

Not just flowers but every plant is a source of additional beauty to its environment.

On a general note painting is the final layer on any building that gives it its complete aesthetic sense and every home owner would want to add more onto the building to increase its beauty and value.

Flowers can be placed on walls but not in the manner of your uploaded pix at least not in Nigeria.

Choose a pattern that will make the home owner not to get bothered about snakes, rodents, etc, etc.
That is your Opinion Sir. Hence the reason why I asked the Question. I needed the Opinion of Different side of the argument.

Regarding the Bolded, The picture is a real life picture not a drawing. So mean it is done everywhere overseas.

I really wish to do this just to my fence but the fear of snakes no gree me.
The bolded was my Thinking, but this guys that live in this houses don't seem to fear that. and that the reason why I'm curious. I'm not an Agric Graduate. or an animal student, so wouldn't know what happens in that case, but experts can help me understand.

Architecture in Nigeria seems to need someone to shake off the shackles and explore.

Trying to sell the idea to anyone in Nigeria.....
Why don't you give us 5 reasons why you thought it good to be appealing to anyone in Nigeria to be on his building?
I don't really know how appealing it will be to any one in Nigeria, hence the reason for bringing it up. What I know is that its appealing to me a lot. 1- beauty of Flowers on Building Walls
2- A whole new Dimension to creativity in Nigerian Architecture
3- The nature feeling that goes with it
4- the fact that flowers/plants have massive amount of varieties that can open a whole lot of possibilities in designing.
I can go on and on.
