Many Nigerian students has difficulties in choice of institution,.Majorly due to a rush into decision making they choose wrongly or get emotional about it,like choosing a university because their boyfriend/girlfriend,brother/sister is in that University.Choice of institution should be done wisely and timely to avoid all possible pit falls associated with studying the right course in the wrong institution.
After reading this article you will no longer get biased or confused on how to make right decisions towards choosing the best University to study in.
I have written out series of steps to guide all Nigerian students especially young school levers who wish to enroll into higher or advanced learning in Nigeria universities.

1.Course Handling : This is one of the most important factor to ensure you choose the best institution suitable for you.Her you take consideration by accessing how well the institution is reputed in handling the course you want to study.it is very important that you do all necessary research about the institution of your choice. For instance,Universities of technology are very good at properly handling engineering courses just as Polytechnics are reputable for practicals aspects of certain studies like computer science and computer engineering.

2. Learning Environment : Many students ignore or neglect this factor as they subconsciously skip to note its importance towards academic excellence.Even if you are studying in the best school in the world, once their learning environment is very poor you will have a very hard time with your studies.Imagine these conditions :
Taking lectures under the sun,now how can you be comfortable enough to focus on lectures and also deal with the sun intensity and constant sweat etc.
Sitting on the floor or standing through out lecture time.Discomfort is one thing i know that reduces your learning potentials.Once you maintain a bad posture either sitting or standing for a while, you experience ache in certain parts of your body, and due to you expense so much energy in keeping those positions, you suffer from fatigue, head ache etc which eventually forces you to leave lecture halls for some refreshment or rest.
Sitting at the rear in a lecture hall of 1000 capacity.in this kind of situations once you are late for class, you are as good as not in class that day because you will not get a thing said by the lecturer that day,the worse of it all is use a microphone for Nigerian lecturers is in most cases not attainable.
I can go on and on on this. Now you can see how important learning environment can be.

3.Cost Of Tuition : Tuition fees in Nigeria are unbearably high and expensive. But their is a better way to go around this and be on the safer side with tuition fee.
As far as i know privately owned Universities are just out of the hook with very very high cost on tuition fee.Though they are believed to offer the best education with conducive learning environment, but once you know you and your family members put together cant afford or survive such expenses, its will be unwise to choose such institutions and avoid 'stories that touch' having to drop out of school due to lack of funds.
But the best to go for once low fees is concerned is a federal University.Federal Universities are considerably low in fees due to access to funds from NDDC,TET,PTDF etc. When state schools are paying 100k for tuition fees,Federal Universities pay 40k. Be sure to go for the once you can afford that can impact knowledge.

4. Security : In every community where government schools and colleges are sited, their is this high tendencies of miscreants, hoodlums or thugs of those communities taking advantage of the innocence and vulnerabilities of students in the schools, then intimidates, rapes, steals or even kill.
So if you value your life and properties then you should take account of how safe the school is and the security measures employed by the school should be taking to account.

5. Cultism : This is an extension to the NO. 4. So many have lost their lives to cultisim and their are countless precious properties lost due to cultism.I think its safer to go into a school with the lowest rate of cultism. If you live in fear, how then can you go to night classes or study, how can you confidently go about your daily activities.Trust me someone who is been traumatized via rape, theft and regular beaten will definitely have issues with concentrating and excelling in their school work.So for your own good,do proper research, ask questions before deciding which University to study in.

Education / Tips To Achieving Your Dreams In Academics by Skyblings(m): 9:12pm On Mar 20, 2017
Dreams they say is a mental picture of anticipated occurrences created by our minds,by patching together figments of visions, goals, experiences, nightmares, attitudes, wishes and a generalized notion of our life cycle.

To some(especially, the westerners),dreams are delusional or a fictional episodes of our life imposed on us as we sleep. And based on that theory they believe dreams is not worth taken seriously. But an African man thinks otherwise,To them dreams are spiritual insights to the future,a hint
of whats to come. And based on that phenomenon,Another meaning to dreams arose.

Dreams is a mental imprint or image,an individual embed within their mind, long enough that it takes dominance of their soul and being, which serve as a guide or provides an all new pathway to livelihood.

Remember the saying,"as far as your eye can see, that you can become" .it imply's that once you can get hold of that dream, then the dream gets hold of you.

I remember quite vividly, when i was a child i dreamt of becoming a medical doctor, loves the white robes and stereoscope hanging on their neck, you know having to save lives and taking credits for it,hence making so much money from my profession and leaving in absolute luxury.but sadly over time, after life has taken its toll, hitting me real hard with self realization through struggles, hardship, disappointments, betrayals etc,the dream slowly faded away.

Not so many of us in life have the luxury of becoming that person we admired to be when we where yet children. So many as kids dreamt to be LAWYERS,ENGINEERS,DOCTORS,BANKERS,PILOTS etc but very few people achieve these dreams in their lifetime.

This article is tailored to guiding your on a few ways to remain in lines with your dreams,be it childhood dreams or dreams you hoped to achieve as an adult.

Below i will outline a few milestones to step on that will keep you in alignment with your dreams.

1. FRIENDSHIP: This has to be No 1 on my list because it plays a vital role to whom you become, your personality is shaped in line with the kind of people you always have around you as friends. So many youths don't take this very seriously.some even think they can cheat or maneover their way through.Once i heard a classmate of mine say he is different from his friends,he like hanging out with bad friends but their life style will never influence him in anyway. He entered the University and ended up becoming a cultist. This guy is very smart and intelligent,in fact back then i learnt a couple of things from him but what happened.

He had kept it secret from me for a very long time,i was shocked to know about it from a third party but never asked him about it.waited a long while for him to come clean until one incident happened which almost took his life, lucky enough he did not end up in jail. After the heat of the incident had died out,he now confessed to me that he had joined the cult due to pressure from a couple of friends and admitted that nothing good was in it after all, saying he would never advice anyone to join such.Well i advised him like i always do though i know he is already deep into it and coming out wont be as easy as it was when he entered the fraternity.

Mingling with people who have same or similar vision or goals in life keeps you rooted towards achieving your dreams.once you stick with the wrong pack, over time you will end up loosing a footing towards your dream and subsequently falling off track.its inevitable, its a universal constant,no matter how careful you are about it.Choose your friends and don't let your friends choose you.seek out those that share same dreams and aspirations with you.

2.Stay Focused : literally Theirs more to focus than just to look at a figure for a period of time,it has to do with observation, awareness and undivided attention on that particular object.Set Goals that Motivate You,One goal at a time, don't bulk your mind with so many dreams at the same time or else you wont have enough time to achieve any.Putting your dreams in writing too has a powerful impact in keeping you focused.Focusing has to do with obsession for that particular dream,THINK IT,SING IT,TALK IT,LOVE IT,DO IT.

3.Think then act : never rush to decision making, this deals with when you are choosing a career,institution,mentor-ship etc. With your dreams firmly held mentally always try to do a little more research when choosing a career or high institution to pursue your dreams.

I remember a friend of mine who has passion for computers and programmings,he graduated from Federal University Of Technology Owerri (FUTO),And studied Computer science(CSC).He told me personally that he made the wrong choice in choosing what to study at the university, according to him,he choose computer science hoping the widen his knowledge in programming and computer codes (html, java, php, css etc) but little did he know that in the course of study he choose,he did more of mathematics and calculation than the actual computing language.Told me,if he had done his home work well,he would have figured he should have done Information and technology (IMT),saying a friend of his who also graduated from same school in IMT was better at programming than he is due to they where thought more on the subject than their computer science counterpart.Well i remember some
time ago in the said school,CSC is not a dependent course of study in the school,it used to be Computer Science and Mathematics, just very recently CSC and Math where seperated into two different departments. Now you can see the result of not doing proper research before choosing a career.
Ask Questions,Mostly to people who have walked the same path you are about embarking into, you will definitely learn one or two from their experiences and mistakes.Make an action plan and stick with it.

4. Leave your place of convenience : Hard work always pays off.Do the little extra stuff that distinguish you from your contemporaries. You don't only have to study when its all convenient ,That little stress, hard work or discomfort will definitely pay off.More time spent with your books, burning those candles while others lay asleep, extra effort put into your workplace, waking up way earlier just to meet up with early morning classes etc.No one did all these thing and became a failure,Even God himself will see you through after you put in little effort towards achieving your dreams.

Sports / FIFA Commitee Bans Sepp Blatter by Skyblings(m): 9:56pm On Oct 07, 2015
FIFA ethics committee has suspended its president Sepp Blatter for 90 days. Head of the committee, Klaus Stoehlker, who has advised Blatter in the past, says the committee made the ruling pending further investigations by the Swiss attorney general following accusations of corruption.

He described it as a "pending" verdict, and said no negative finding had been made against the head of world football's governing body.

The announcement comes just hours after Blatter criticized the criminal investigation against him in Switzerland, describing it as "outrageous". He also defended his decision to remain as head of the football organising body and not step down immediately, as worldwide sponsors have urged.

The 90-day suspension is the longest FIFA's ethics committee can hand down while they carry out their investigation.

Last month, the Swiss attorney general announced that Blatter will face charges of "criminal mismanagement" and "misappropriation." Among the charges is an allegation that Blatter gave a "disloyal payment" to UEFA president Michel Platini totaling 2 million francs ($2.1 million). That payment is alleged to have been made three months before Platini announced he would not run against Blather in the 2011 FIFA presidential election

7 soldiers lost their lives while over 100 boko haram members were killed after the sect group made a futile attempt on 120 Task Force Battalion troops located at Goniri, Yobe State yesterday morning. A statement from the Nigerian Army's acting director Public relations, Col. Sani Usman, states that one officer and 8 soldiers were injured during the attack.

Weapons recovered from the sect members include 1 General Purpose Machine Gun, 2 Rocket Propelled Grenades, 9 AK-47 rifles and Belted rounds of 7.62 (NATO) ammunitions. Others were various wires used for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 7 Primed IEDs, different types of Spanners and a Torch Light.

In a related development, troops of 21 Brigade on fighting patrol from Bama to Ngurosoye, destroyed Boko Haram terrorists camps along that axis. While on patrol, the brave soldiers came across some of the terrorists hideouts that also served as fabricating area for IEDs and the terrorists’ training area. Another patrol along Bama-Kawuri axis discovered and exhumed IEDs and wires for detonation.

Politics / Reasons Behind Customs Comptroller-general Voluntary Resignation by Skyblings(m): 10:35am On Aug 18, 2015
Many believed he resigned because of the 'fear of Buhari. His resignation has since been approved by President Buhari.
In his own words, Read why he resigned.

"Tomorrow, I will be six years as Comptroller-General of Customs and after wide consultations, I decided to personally meet him and express my gratitude and appreciation for serving for six years.
"And the only way the Nigeria Customs Service can move forward, I feel personally is my making a sacrifice."The sacrifice is to give chance to others so that they can come up and continue with the legacies and the reforms and structure that I have put in place.’’

Politics / Energy Production In The Universe Is Declining - NEW STUDY by Skyblings(m): 11:24am On Aug 12, 2015
The most comprehensive study about energy output in our nearby region of space indicates that the Universe is slowly fading away.
A team of scientists from the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in Australia used several of the most advanced ground- and space-based telescopes to detect what has long been suspected: Energy production in the Universe is slowing down.

Many scientists have speculated this fact for decades, but it had never been truly confirmed and some had hypothesized that it wasn't an equal drop across all wavelengths. Well, GAMA scientists can now confirm that energy in infrared, ultraviolet, visible — 21 different wavelengths — is decreasing.
Total energy output has dropped by half in just the past two billion years.
Normally, I'm a huge fan of science and astronomers in particular. Something like NASA's New Horizons probe sending back hi-res photos of Pluto is something to get excited about. The end of the Universe as we know it? Not so hot.
We'll leave you with an uplifting quote from ICRAR Professor Simon Driver:
“The Universe is fated to decline from here on in, like an old age that lasts forever. The Universe has basically plonked itself down on the sofa, pulled up a blanket and is about to nod off for an eternal doze."
It looks like we're going out with a whimper, not a bang.
