Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has said that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme should be extended to a two-year program.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the Governor noted that one year of the program should be for military training and the other year for social works.

According to him, there is a need for corps members to undergo military training following increased insecurity in the country.

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams, has disclosed that he warned Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho Adeyemo that his methods are wrong.

Addressing a gathering in a video seen by Naija News, the Yoruba high chief stated that most of the methods being adopted Sunday Igboho are wrong but he would not abandon him.

A school in India has apologized after photos emerged of students wearing cardboard boxes on their heads during an exam to prevent cheating.

The Bhagat Pre-University College in Haveri, in India's southwestern Karnataka state, implemented a trial run of the new measure last week, according to school management head M.B. Sateesh.
A staff member photographed the students sitting in neat rows, their heads obscured by cardboard boxes. The front of the boxes had been cut out, allowing students to see their desks and exam sheets but restricting their vision, similar to blinkers used on a horse.

The photos were posted on Facebook by a staff member and promptly went viral but it didn't take long for the school to start facing widespread criticism on social media.

Even government officials weighed in. Suresh Kumar, the state education minister, said in a tweet that the school's practice was "unacceptable. Nobody has any right to treat anybody more so students like animals. This (perversion) will be dealt with aptly."

The school has now provided authorities with a written explanation of the trial and an apology, Sateesh said.

While announcing his resignation on the 31st of July, 2017, Rev. Edet had said “the resignation marked the beginning of ‘freedom’ for his spirit and soul.

Edet said after 11 long years, he strongly felt the need to leave, because he was feeling boxed in and it was affecting his personal relationship with God.

In ​his words:

“From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul. ​I forgive those who will criticize me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling I am so happy that I am free.”

Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has condemned the attacks on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in Benin City, Edo State.

He noted that political practice in the country should not be allowed to degenerate to a situation where violence becomes the language of activism by both politicians and their supporters, no matter how disgruntled such persons may be.

“Such criminal attack remains utterly condemnable and illegal. Whatever their grievances, they should learn to explore dialogue rather than resort to violence.

“I call on the police to get to the root of the matter by prosecuting those involved in the act.

Issuing a fresh conference to clarify their stand, the stakeholders speaking via Jauro Abacha of Kolere Ward in Mubi North told newsmen in Yola said they were conned by some of their folks into attending a sponsored Press Conference where categorical statements were made at disparaging Senator Abbo.


“That we only attended the sponsored Press Conference because we were deceived into doing so. The conveners told us to come to Yola to attend the judgment of the election tribunal, only to be commandeered into a Press Conference hall by some fellows.

” That we cannot identify with any arrangement that is predicated on lies and deception, which planning and arrangement we were not a part.

“That the fellows spearheading this charade are in fact members of other political parties as such they cannot be stakeholders in PDP.
That we have no reason for whatsoever to distance ourselves from our Young and dynamic Senator.
