switima: Hello everyone, I applied for student visa on d 10th of December. I got a reply stating that my application has been forwarded to the commission but till now my status has not changed. Getting really worried as my school resumes on 14th January. Is it normal? Is there any1 in my situation or is it because of the holiday that's why there is a delay?I got mine 4 days before my school resumed so you should be alright |
chindi: i've tried norton, avast, bitdefender, and avira. i used to have avast antivirus, but since i changed my harddisk and formatted d system, it refused to download properlyTry malwarebyte in case Security essentials also fails to install. |
Rumour mongers and ameebo Dont you guys have a life? why point accusing finger at someone else? First they said its spiritual, now its Yinka Quadri |
dannywest: I'm flying to coventry later this month for my MSc, I would like to know,£800 should be fine In regards to car. Buying is not the problem. Its your insurance which you might be paying as high as £200 a month or more for insurance since you will be driving with international license before you pass your UK driving test.Even when you get the UK drivers license its still gonna be a bit high. That excludes Road tax and petrol. |

peteafrik88: Thanx sir. I can cease being thankful, you have been of great help to me. The truth about the matter, is that I dont seem to fancy the care work, as the schedule seems so redundant. I am a very adventourous, pragmatic person and that seem to have affected my choice of work. There are cleaning jobs also. Not sure of gardening or carpentry. Its just that the care work is the one that seems popular. Care work is flexible depending on the agency you work with,You can always reject jobs if they call you and you are busy. There are cleaning jobs but which some might require you early in the morning and late in the evening. Its up to you. You might be lucky and get some other jobs that you like. Maybe working within the school. They are flexible also as they tend to give you work when you not having lectures. But to be honest,my advice is to get any job available when you come and they try and scout around for others jobs you feel you will enjoy. Nobody wants to be a care worker. Most people use it as a stepping stone to other easier or better jobs and to generate extra funds |
Anything Nigerians don't understand is spiritual. |
Nigerian May join, not will join. Meaning if we feel like letting you join ![]() |

peteafrik88: My concern is just the best method on how I could make ends meet as a student in portsmouth. This issue of no jobs is kinda bothering me, driving me to find out any other substitute without keeping my life and visa at risk.I dont know about any other city but in Portsmouth, there is a better chance of you getting a part time job being a care worker. Most of the guys i know who came in in September are doing that now. |
Mata ruined me |
gonon: Guys, just arrived the UK. The cold is on point. Na so so chicken for everything, fish expensive. Well thank God for everything thowait till Febuary then if you think this is cold |
kaleidoscope: Just don't let those hungry looking policemen or road Marshalls get you, If not they would vent their anger on you for having the chance to visit the UK and they cannot....So that means its not accepted in Naija. Thanks |
Was wondering if i can use UK drivers license to drive in Naija. I know you can drive in the UK with international License for up to a year but not show if Naija accepts drivers license from other countries. I no wan go Jail for Lagos or make Lastma use me catch cruise. ![]() Anyone with information on this, please share |

kaboninc: Of all I said, its only 'Wiki' and 'Google' you picked?lol Google pointed me to wiki after copying and pasting your words. ![]() |
kaboninc: Lollll. I said 'sorry' because people do read different meanings to ones intention. Anyway, I had 'stint' of these courses. Yes in Nigeria you have these courses but the problem is the teaching style and facilities. Now i see why you kept saying i should goggle computer science. Wiki was your source not from experience. Happy new year to you too |
Are there any server administrators in Naija here? Which cloud services is being used in IT industry in Naija? Anyone using server 2012 in thier organization yet or planning to deploy soon? |
peteafrik88: @Skywalker & @Hunter777; that means it will be a very good development coming to Portsmouth with the barbing skill...It will but not as a student. You can do it inhouse. I had a friend who did it in house when i was in school but na big risk. There are few barbers around portsmouth. Top design is the barber most naija guys i know visit(Fratton) but there are others too that cuts hairs the naija way around but most guys prefer Top design. |
hunter777: Mate, there are no African barbers on Fratton rd towards North end and none on Albert Rd as well.. that much i knowThen i have nothing to say to you. Since you only know top design barbers but dont know B&B barbers which is on albert road |
kaboninc: Oh sorry about that.lol. so you passed through the three courses right or because i said i am not a graduate? i am not gonna argue with you but all what you wrote for computer science is too broad for computer science. Well its not in Nigeria university but sit down and read all the topics you just wrote about computer science. what with the sorry about that? because i said i am not a graduate? lol. so you feel achieved because i said i am not a graduate and you are on nairaland? I was just being sarcastic Mr Graduate |
kaboninc: Am a graduate. So I know what am saying. Take a good look at our syllables, I mean the NUC course outline and compare even with the best schools in the world. You'll find out that there's no much difference except in teaching style.oh i forgot, i am not a graduate |
kaboninc: Computer Science is like a supper set.Dont know where you got your information from but for UK university, computer science is not as broad as you have written. |
Na wa ooo. |

Bayo igbekele: My TOSHIBA celeron laptop is giving problem o, the usb ports are converting my files and folders to application and is not virus cos have scanned it so many times maybe it has been infected. Pls wat can i do. HelpIts most likely a virus. Try and download malwarebyte, update it and run a full scan on your system |
. |
hunter777: I beg to disagree with you. There is only one African barber around Fratton (on Fawcett Rd) and how do you justify your statement that Fratton is where most Nigerians are?so the barbers on fratton road towards north-end and albert road are called? ![]() |
