Orikinla: Good narrative, but you are mixing up your tenses and that can put off serious consideration by agents and publishers.

I think this is not getting funny anymore with everyone posting distinction result on Nairaland. Lots of Nigerians graduate with distinction in their respective schools in UK.Most of them in IT courses.

KINGwax: I don't knw why u guys don't biliv ds! Do u knw UK wil be introducing her first 4g next yr october? If u ask them, they complain of slow network.
I chat wit friends in ties states and cousins in UK and d truth is, they complain of network problem too.
I don't knw wot network u guys use...i've used swift 4g and it's fuckin fast..i also use glo with my phone and it's 3g has been the bomb. When the condition is fine, i browse with the mtn fast link and download files in seconds. I swear!
I'm alwys suprised when people complain..except the hitches, i'm cool
There is a difference between network connectivity problem and network speed. Never heard of network being slow in the UK unless the person is using P2P or someone is downloading large files on their network

Slow network in uk?you sure about what you saying. Maybe most of the people you talking about stay in remote places with limited connectivity. Never heard of sloe network in UK at all. Maybe you talking about people who uses dongle. dongle self is fast

manny4life: Even at that, at it's maximum capacity, at the current max speed of 5,674 bytes/sec, you will have no more than 1million people on the system no to overload it. Now do the math, it hasn't reach the capacity, yet AVERAGE is 322 bytes/sec, Nigeria has A LONG WAY TO GO. Anyway, I'm happy for their improvement o. grin grin grin
Lets say its bit 322 bits per second = 0.00030708313 Mbps grin grin grin grin grin grin
322 (bytes / second) = 0.00245666504 Mbps this one has more numbers if we erase the .00 in front of it grin grin grin grin grin

All this ISP companies that will be using word like bytes/sec or kilobyte/sec so the increase the number before it so they can make people gullible. Its ridiculous. Imagine website magazine reporting bandwidth speed in kbps in this modern age
ComputersRe: Nigeria Leads West Africa In Internet Speed by Skywalker5(m): 5:27pm On Nov 27, 2012
eGuerrilla: The 14,000-km fibre-optic submarine cable, named the West African Cable System (WACS), has a capacity of 5.12 terabytes per second (TBps), and began service earlier this year.
This people wont kill me with laughter. It has a capacity of 5.12TBPS but what is its current data capacity?. grin grin grin grin

eGuerrilla: Nigeria has an average connection speed of 322kbps with a peak rate of 5674kbps; while South Africa's average speed is faster at 496kbps, the country's peak speed is only half that of Nigeria, at 2172kbps.
convert it to mbps
322kbps = 0.314453125 Mbps grin grin grin grin
5674 Kbps = 5.54101562 Mbps

Its not the student's fault. The application they created is not really marketable in Nigeria as Nigeria is still backward with technology. On a normal day, these guys should be employed by a software company and they should be creating new applications

maclatunji: Inasmuch as I am an advocate of having knowledge ahead of certificate, it might be a little bit difficult for him to break into the market without certification. I think a great way he can be helped is to find a school/professional outfit that would be willing to train him at little or no cost.
I understand what you saying but to be honest, going to a professional outfit is not the best in my own opinion. All i think he needs is a computer at home that can accept installation of this software i wrote in my previous post and practice with it. I see no reason for him to go for IT training with his current situation if he already has the basic of Networking. I went for training but only for CCNA, every other certification i did was self taught, there are videos online he can ask his friends to download for him if he cant afford internet access and study and practice at home. Any money he gets should be saved towards exam not training.
IslamRe: The Dilemma Of A Young Muslim Man by Skywalker5(m): 4:52pm On Nov 22, 2012
maclatunji: The guy is asking for religious advice on the concept called "Yahoo-Yahoo", he is a Muslim. However, should you be willing to help him, you are welcome.
oh, i get what you mean. it was your post about the training he wrote to you that caught my attention more. The only help i can give him is for him to sit down and think on what he wants to do. you said he has good IT skills. He should go online and download tutorials and study at home. I just googled Vsat installation and found tons of resources on it. Everything is on the net.I dont think he is making an effort for research. Everything he needs is on the net

But if he think its yahoo yahoo he wants, then i dont know what to say
IslamRe: The Dilemma Of A Young Muslim Man by Skywalker5(m): 4:30pm On Nov 22, 2012
CCTV/Ip surveillance is good for him to go with.I think there is a future in it in Nigeria
I think CCNA is enough for him, he should try and branch out to Microsoft server and Vmware. You said he already has networking skills
He should get video tutorials online and study server and Vmware. There are trial server softwares versions online for him to test with, also with Vmware. I wont advice him to go for CCNP. If you dont have devices and equipment for cisco, you will forget some as IT involves constant practice most but with Microsoft and Vmware, you can install them on your computer or laptop and practice at home

I will suggest he tries to set himself up a company and market his skills to small companies once he has learnt it well. There are lot of things he can do in IT. Since he has good marketing skills,it should not be a problem for him. There are some branches in IT that most people dont talk about but are good
Like backup data,e-mails , Linux, remote support( you'll need internet access). There are so many video and documents that can help him start.

N.B Any reason why this is in the Islam for Muslim section? I am a christian and i see the guy as my brother not a young Muslim man or is it just Muslims that are to contribute?

Msauza: . My dear friend, let me first start to introduce myself accordingly. I am a Nigerian/South African born of a SA mother and Nigerian father. I have two degrees in my name, being, BA (politics with economics and law) obtained from Potchefstroom University and was credited with my law modules by Wits University to study law further, wherein I successfully completed my LLB in 2010, after three years of academic study. My father is a prof in one of the most reputable universities in SA and he specialises in Economics and Public Administration and also holds MBA. I come from academic family and am well educated than you can ever imagine. I am currently serving my articles as an candidate attorney under a well experienced group of white attorneys. I find it very difficult that you undermined my intelligence by suggesting that I do not know how Forbes Mag works. Look at my comments above, where I highlighted something about Nicky Oppenheimer's assets. Forbes evaluates people by means of their assets, not a cash in their bank accounts. What a desperate underestimate of a person!!! Forbes is the subject of the west to fool us. I repeat, Dangote is not a richest man in Africa, this is a cooked propaganda the west devised after were confronted with many questions as to why whites SA always tops the list of Forbes Africa's richest. That was the loophole by the west of mistakenly giving concrete evidence to the world that Africa,s economy is in the hands of white monopoly capital. The issue of this magazine was suddenly suspended without further notice as it was polarising the society. If you want to know more come to me.

solbil: msauza the looser, what has your anti nigerian sentiment fetched you if not a circadian rythm of cronic migraine?

You asked how dangote's wealth could jump that much in a short time. Well let me give you the lil education you have refused to give to yourself.

At a point in time, there was a situation in the cement market here in nigeria that made it possible for dangote to bring down his price far below that of his competitors so that his competitors began loosing customers. The option left for the competitors was to sell off their company which they did when a juicy offer came from dangote.

After acquiring his competitors, he immediately pushed cement prices to about 300-400percent of the original price of cement. He took over all limestone deposites in nigeria. Thats how his company grew so rapidly in that short time. Before he did all these take over, he was worth only 3bn dollar. And at the begining of last year, he was worth 13.4bn. The man is a genius! Thats the truth.
Is that being a genius? huh increased price by 400% because he knows he controls the cement industry. No regulatory body in Nigeria. He can do what he likes
