Going by the present standings in the NNL Division B1 and B2, Lagosians are in for some NPFL fixtures next season. It has been a while Lagos State feature a team in the NPFL when Julius Berger - The Bridge Boys was the last team standing in Lagos in the then 'Nigeria Professional League' before relocating to Abeokuta.

Ikorodu Utd. leads the Div. B1 with 20 points after 11 matches with 2 matches left while MFM Utd. leads the Div. B2 with 22 points from 11 matches as well. One team is expected to be promoted from each group to the NPFL for the 2015/2016 season. Ikorodu Utd presently play their home games at the Onikan Water Front, while the MFM play their home games at the Agege Stadium.

Ayodeji Abbis, 27, took £1,000 to be best man despite being a total stranger .

He denied knowing it was a sham or that he was paid £1,000, claiming the money was owed to him by an associate of Abiola.

Prosecutor Edward Bindloss said: “Was it a coincidence the money was paid in to his account on the same day of the wedding?

“This was his reward for being a valued and important part of that sham marriage. He was the best man for a complete stranger and there to make money.”

Recorder Gurdial Singh told Hull crown court: “Sham weddings strike at heart of immigration system.

“If it wasn’t for the eagle-eyed registrar, it would have gone ahead, everything was planned.

“The groom had even chosen the rather apt song of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

"This offence strikes at the heart of immigration and marriage itself.”

They were stung when the registrar in Hull told police.

Dad-of-two Kumoye, of Manchester, got 16 months’ jail. Abbis, of Leeds, got eight months. Abiola, of Hull, and his fake bride, of Manchester, were jailed earlier this year.

All admitted conspiracy to breach immigration law.
